Maintenance of computer file

I had a computer crash and after contacting MS tech helped me through a reinstallation of my Vista program. Hesaid he could save most of my files by placing them in a folder called old Windows. I am in place and running and I want to know if I can delete these files, because they are big enough and I believe that slow down my computer. The files are old window 22.6 GB old Windows (. 000) 8.23 GB. I don't know if I can delete these with stars harming my operating system. This computer is a Toshiba laptop and I have noticed that most of the files are in the Windows folder old Toshiba. Can I copy these on my C drive or compare the duplicate files. Most windows files have the same size and the same date in all three files.

I would be grateful for any help and will provide more information if necessary

Thank you Paul

Hello

Make sure that you save any data you need old files if there is.

All Toshiba files you need can be reinstalled if necessary Toshiba. They may have already
have been installed, check with the tech. Those special functions added by Toshiba control such as
a camera (if you have one), various utilities of WiFi and others such as Power Options, all of which are
added by Toshiba for their systems. Most are a convenience and not a requirement.

Check with Toshiba support, their drivers online (update or reinstall) and their forums.

OfficeJet J6400 all-in-one, Vista, connected by cable to the laptop computer (and also connected wireless. I did both because of another problem fax not working do not under wireless only).

The copy was working fine. Now, sheets of Excel spreadsheet and graph lines and many a printed text appear slightly crooked and misaligned.  The lines look like test you made during the alignment of the new ink cartridges. (some segments of line up, some down).

AND, this only happens when copying of computer file for printer.  If I run a printer manually through Excel/graphic paper, it prints very well.

    Appreciate any ideas on that.

    Thank you.

Both BAD and sorry.  It seems that the right printer ran out of black ink now. What explains that.

But the ink looked bleak but was printing it for about a week. It is a long warning.

If you make financial transactions online and feel your system has been compromised, the more experienced people will recommend wipe you your HARD drive and reinstall your XP from scratch, but that is not always possible and of course is up to you depending on how you feel about this (you need to feel good about it).

If you still think your system may be achieved a malware, I would do these things before you start any troubleshooting effort:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

Download and run Hitman Pro here and during installation to be 100% sure to refuse the installation of toolbars, decline any e-mail options, nothing to do with Bing or MSN, perform a scan time, accept no e-mail and activate the free license:

http://www.SurfRight.nl/en/downloads/ (make sure you get the free version)

Download and run TDSSKiller from Kaspersky:

The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

If you need help interpreting your logs in Event Viewer, follow these steps:

Here is a method to display specific information about individual events.

To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

The most interesting newspapers are usually the system and Application logs.

Some newspapers such as security and Internet Explorer may be completely empty or have just a few items.  The default settings for XP wants do not connect all this activity, unless you need to solve a problem in these areas.  If you enable logging for them the papers fill up quickly and could adversely affect the performance of your system with all the extras (often unnecessary) activity.

If you have Microsoft Office installed, it has its own newspapers, and they can be empty or occasional boring activity very little or, if there is no problem with your desktop applications.  It's normal.

Not every event is a problem, some are informational messages that things work very well, and some are warnings.

However, no event should defy reasonable explanation.

Each event is sorted by Date and time.  Errors will be red Xs, warnings will have yellow! s.
Informational messages have white is.  Not every error or warning event means that there is a serious question.

Some are excusable at boot time when Windows starts.  Try to find only the events to the date and time around your problem.

If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove all personal information from your information after you paste If you are forced to do so.

If you paste an event, it will look something like this annoying system startup event:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Service Control Manager
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 7035
    Date: 14/07/2010
    Time: 17:54:18
    User: Jose
    Computer: computer

    Description:
The Remote Access Connection Manager service was sent successfully a starting control.

To get a fresh start on any log of the event viewer, you can choose to clear the log (the log backup is available), and then reproduce your problem, then just look at the events around your show and troubleshoot events that are happening when you have your question.

  • How to cancel the installation of event on my computer files

Not too long ago I should have allowed an upgrade which installed... event on my computer files.  Now my filing system is becoming littered with event files.  I don't want them... they are a nuisance in total but removing one does not solve the fundamental problem.

I want to get rid of this change... update... program... what it is.  I'm afraid that the updates on my other computers will create the same problem on them.

I am running windows 7 Ultimate on all computers.

I can partially solved the problem.

It sews files have all were created on one day at a time.  I don't know why this happened, but occurred after a Windows Update.

No additional files were created which were implanted in files... at least not yet.

I deleted all the files by using the search and because all of the files have the same day and time, I was able to delete them as a group from the search results... nearly 2,000 of them.

Hope this helps anyone else with this problem of peculuar.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  • My Firefox on my new install of the computer does not recognize the password of the previous computer files.

I have a new computer running Windows 7 Professional. I installed Firefox and copied all the files in the Firefox profile on my old system to the new profile. All of my bookmarks, extensions, etc. are on the new system, but I got passwords with a master password, and none of it is there.

  • Loading backup to new computer file, I get an error message.

I tried to move my favorites to a new computer by using the backup file I prepared and stored on my external hard drive, but I get an error message.

    This error message you get?

    You can attach a screenshot?

    • Use a type of compressed as PNG or JPG image to save the screenshot
    • Make sure you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Make sure that the bookmarks backup file has the correct extension (lowercase):

    • .html for HTML backup (must be imported and merges bookmarks)
    • . JSON for JSON backup (must be restored and replaces bookmarks)

You can check the file type using the context menu of that file and open properties.
If you are unsure of the type of file, then you can open the file in Firefox via "Firefox > new tab > open a file" or "file > open a file.
A JSON backup will appear as a single line of text without line breaks and an HTML backup looks like a webpage with clickable links.

    A JSON backup begins with: {"title": "","id": 1, "dateAdded": }
An HTML backup begins with: <! DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-leader-1 >

Check the file type in the properties using the context menu to make sure that the change was successful.

Windows hides certain default file extensions.
Among them are .html, .ini and .js, .txt, so you can see only file name without the file extension.
You can see the type of actual file (file extension) in the properties of the file via the context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • Change hosts, I need save email on computer files, before the MX records get switched?

    Hello
Recently, I changed web hosts and still have my email accounts set up with my former host, with pointing to the old servers MX records.

I configure Thunderbird accounts and open my existing email accounts via IMAP, it shows all the files and current e-mail I want to keep.

    My questions are-

Can I save my files to e-mail on my first computer or local files on TB?
Once the MX records point again - the host of the site, then add files?

Thank you very much for the help!

Provide you can still access the old server and emails are still there.
Synchronize your e-mail records to obtain a copy of the files server on your computer.
    So stop synchronization.
    switch to offline mode.
    Move emails into local folders.
e-mails in local folders will be stored on your computer.
When all the emails are safe in local folders, you can remove the e-mail account.

Be aware that if e-mails have been deleted from the server and synchronize with 'empty' server, then your Thunderbird folders will be updated to match the server and you will lose your emails.

Also, in offline mode, you can create a backup of these emails.
    Use this addon:

    How to install the addon:

To use, do a right click on the folder to see ImportExporttool options
    See the image below.

Note: you can also use this tool to import e-mails stored in local folders as another method to get them in local directories.
