(I use Windows 7 64 bit on an HP Pavillion laptop) Where is - this Firefox download files that it lists in its own small window of download, but you only allows 'Clear' the list, no copy or open, or move the file?
Where are the actual files to?Map of the last file downloaded and saved
go to the Tools Menu-> Options-> general-> downloads section-> select Radio button option 1 ' save files from "dialog box-> click the"Browse..."buttonĀ "and from there you can find the exact folder hierarchy where a download was recorded recently.
If you want to know when a download starts to download and where you want to save the download, performs the following steps:
go to the Tools Menu-> Options-> general-> downloads section-> place checkmark on "Show the downloads window when downloading a file"-> check out of "close it when all downloads are finished"-> select Radio button Option2 'Always ask me where to save files'-> click OK.

How can I make Firefox use another version of the installed Java runtime?
For purposes of development, I have several versions of the Java runtime on my 64 bit Windows 7 computer. I try to keep the number of JDK and JRE installation to a minimum and I want Firefox to use JRE 1.7.0_21 (32 bit) because this happened with a version of JDK, I am forced to use another application.
Firefox however use JRE 1.6.0_31 and is correctly reported as non-secure. It offers me the upgrade option, but I don't want to download and install a different JRE since I already said 1.7.0_21 installed JRE. I would prefer very just to be able to point Firefox so that JRE. I don't see an option to select a different JRE installed however.
I tried to manually edit the file pluginreg.dat (I know, it says do not edit...) by changing the entries of JRE 1.6 and 1.7 of the JRE, but on reboot, my changes have been overwritten and was back at the old JRE. So I can't view some web sites (also company/internal) without having to change to any browsers.
Please let me know how I can make Firefox use the already installed JRE 1.7.
Firefox scans the registry to find the location of the plugins.
If Firefox detects a plugin and not the other, then that means that the other Java plugin is not having a corresponding registry key.- https://developer.Mozilla.org/Adding_Extensions_using_the_Windows_Registry

How to make Firefox look like Chrome?
Is there anyway to make Firefox 29 back to the old layout?
I chose to use Firefox because I loved the presentation of the user interface, and it doesn't look like Chrome. In this new update I may as well pass because they look almost identical. It's really disturbing to me, I like Firefox and this new Interface looks really bad for me.
Can't we just updates that improve the code and the quality of life issues without being constrained by using a browser that is a clone of Chrome 1:1?

I went to the Pale Moon browser today. Because Firefox has been open source and there are clones available. Pale Moon is literally everything that Firefox has been (down to each individual option) before Mozilla decided to break their own product and replace it with Google Chrome 29.
Look the same, works the same, will not be updated and break all the time. Congratulations to all.

FireFox download NOT completely ("file corrupt" errors).
Several attempts to download all resulted in the same error.
Size of the files SHOULD have been 13.3 MB, but was 7.1 to 12.3 MB.
Downloaded file is "Firefox Setup 7.0.1.exe".
OS: Win XP Prof, version 5.1.2600 SP3, BioStar MotherB, 1 GB mem, 350GB SATA drive, other details available. A NEW PC (< 1 month). It is possible that your antivirus software is corrupt downloaded files or otherwise interfere with the download of files by Firefox.
Try disabling analysis in real time (live) files in your software anti-virus temporarily to see if that makes working download.
See "Antivirus disable in Firefox preferences - Windows."

I go to a website and log on to it.
Firefox asks me if I want to save the password.
I say no.
Later, I decide that I don't want Firefox to save the password on this website. How can I make Firefox ask me if I want to save this password again?
The Web site is not listed in the (Options-Security-passwords-Exceptions) list.
I see that you always use the old version of Firefox 29.
In this version autocomplete = off on the form will prevent Firefox to store the name and the password.
In this version, you have the signon.overrideAutocomplete set to true.
In Firefox 29, the default value is false, and in the current version this pref is set to true by default and will bring up the door hanger to remember the password. But you need to update to version Firefox 34 because Firefox 29 known security vulnerabilities.

Firefox Download Manager problems
The default in Firefox Download Manager began to show strange behavior today: no matter what file I try to download (in the default \download folder or in a folder chosen by me) is actually downloaded by the browser, but the file download status bar always a message "unknown time remaining" while being entirely green (https://www.dropbox.com/s/n891ya38ifm83c3/Cattura%20di%20schermata%20%284%29.png?dl=0).
The real problem is when I download .torrent files that are downloaded the torrent client need to start (torrent client that does not start because for firefox, is never finished downloading .torrent).
I tried to disable the antivirus (bitdefender), but the problem persisted. Chrome downloads work fine (as with active antivirus).
It's the b9 32.0 and it has been fixed and will be in the build 32.0 then, probably the RC1 build 32.0 if normally such a fix would be a beta version as 32.0b10. The release is Tuesday next so little time. From topic: config you can try to change the empty value of browser.safebrowsing.appRepURL in the meantime.

I have two accounts for myself on my PC under Windows XP. In the administrative account, Firefox is already the default browser that appears when I double-click an HTML file, etc. Firefox knows that it is the default browser.
In my other account, whenever I start Firefox, it tells me that this isn't the default browser. By clicking here to make the value by default, or in the options, does nothing.
When I go to Set Program Access and defaults in the administrative account, 'use my current browser' is selected. Mozilla Firefox is not listed as an option. In my nonadministrator account, the Control Panel Add / Remove programs can be used. He says I don't have permission.
To check in the other account, you would have to temporarily give him administrator permissions.

How can I make Firefox the browser but not to make the default browser?
I want to use Firefox as a browser on some sites, but not all. I don't want to make Firefox or Internet Explorer as default browser but use each on sites such as Google or MSN certaion web.
For your choice of default browser, consider that you want to manage links in other programs, such as word processors, Adobe Reader, or an external e-mail program. Windows will use your default browser to open links.
Then, when you visit a site in a favorite browser, open the browser and use bookmarks or Favorites to get there.
