Malware and viruses

When I visit some sites I sometimes get a message, apparently from Apple, saying that a virus or malware is trying to steal images and passwords etc. The message is often also oral. Is this really from Apple. That I disconnect everything quickly. But my laptop has been infected? I don't detect anything strange.

1. No, it's not Apple.

2. No, your system has not been infected.

  • c07ft5y, CDDB, ODBC and Mimar Sinan in the register - I was told by a company of 'technical support' that they need to eliminate these because it's malware and viruses

I called a line of technical support that was supposed to be for prolbems Avast free antivirus software. The tech support person, located in India with a company called Bamgar, has convinced me to give remote access to my computer. Currently, she proceeded to look in my registry and make comments about how my computer had a lot of 'serious problems' and hackers could access sensitive files, I have or look in my online banking because of the above located things on my record that she claimed were malicious software and viruses. I became suspicious when she then proceeds to discuss how his own company, 'Good Karma' would withdraw from all of this for me and to solve all these problems. They would need "only" $ 130 for this. I told him I did not have that kind of money and I want to talk to him later on this subject, because now I was very nervous, she has access to my computer. I clicked the button to put an end to its remote access, but of course I don't know if she still has access to my computer now, as I don't know how to tell for sure.

I downloaded the free firewall Zone Alarm immediately after the end of that phone call and put it up to block access. I'm also looking for my machine with Spybot Search and Destroy. I know not what else to do to stop this company access to my computer, and I don't know if it was legitimate, and the files she mentioned are really malware. Please tell me if you know what are actually the these points in my registry. Thank you very much.

Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
    Operation of the network.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 5.x and 4.8 x

Avast - home - free - 5.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
    Finish those you don't use).
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

I recently had to have my rebuilt computer caused by a virus. Now I have Mozilla Firefox with ABP and see that Firefox has a program's built-in phishing and viruses. Do I need a program additional anti-malware? If so, the one that works best with Firefox? Seems put more you on these things the you have more trouble.

The anti-phishing protection and malware that Firefox uses checks against a list of websites that have been reported to contain a form of malware and then alerts you. Firefox itself does not scan files to see if they contain viruses/malware. You still need a form any anti-virus and anti-malware protection. You must also use a firewall.

As for which is better, you are likely to get many different answers, it's a topic that generates a lot of discussion. A product one person loves will be hated by someone else. I use Microsoft Security Essentials as well as Windows Firewall.

  • Malware or viruses on my Mac

I need help! When you use Safari, whenever I shoot a Web site, another unwanted site appears. Also, when I search Google, he repaces somehow the results with the unintended outcomes? Hard to explain!

I am not notified of any virus or malware and have tried a number of things after reading some of these messages, but nothing it has solved the problem. First, it started with a pop up screen saying I have a virus and I have to contact them to fix the problem. I have not be contacted. Can someone help me?

What a scam. Read this tip user by John Galt. Also just as a rule of thumb, never install any type of antimalware or antivirus software on your mac, it's just making things worse.

    Problem:

A popup unexpected or unsolicited webpages (examples below; Click to enlarge) appears claiming the 'virus' detection, or the existence of an unsafe condition that needs to be addressed urgently:

Scam, example 1 Scam example 2
Scam example 3 Scam example 4

These scams may appear on any web browser running on any Mac, PC or iOS device. They appear to be authentic, because they can include details such as your IP address and an icon of the browser you use. Some of them include the voice-over or annoying alert sounds. You do not find an impossible to remove popups, and you can't find a way to stop Safari. Even if you were completely shut down and restart your Mac or your iPhone, annoying popups could just keep reappearing.

A variant of the same scam will cause a Web page to appear accusing you of a sordid or illegal Internet activity. The page could bear seals of aspect official government or law enforcement, say your Mac is infected with certain ick, and / or use technobabble intended either to intimidate you or create a sense of authenticity.

    • Needless to say, regardless of the text they contain must be completely excluded, because it is all wrong: your Mac is not infected with anything and you do nothing wrong. What you feel is a lame and 100% fraudulent attempt to extort the money from you. No matter how legitimate, the message seems to be, it did not are created with Apple, the FBI, RCMP, Bundespolizei, or any organization is legitimate. This is a scam very common and easily perpetrated which can affect any computer or Web browser. Don't fall for it!
    • If you look closely at the page, you might find a 'warning', written in very small text, containing what may be the only accurate information on this. Extracted textually accurate follows one of the examples above scam: "the Web page and pop-up is only for advertising use.» In no way claiming to be Microsoft and claiming a certain error has occurred. The Web page does not personal or critical information. Web site owners are not responsible for all the measures taken on your system by third parties. Dial your own free will. " Who could argue with that? It's about as honest as it gets.

The problem is that they cannot be dismissed. You can not close the page or even leaving the web browser that you use and you're stuck.

    • Whatever you do, do not call all the numbers that appear. They want fair payment, usually several hundred dollars U.S. worse still, they can try to trick you by giving them remote control your Mac, theoretically allowing them to install a capacity without barriers 'backdoor' granting criminals to harvest some or all of the information on your Mac, to be used for any conceivable purpose. It's a road you want to travel.

There are different solutions for Safari on Mac and Safari on an iPhone or iPad device. Follow applicable below. Although the instructions dier Safari, they are easily adaptable to other web browsers.

  • Windows 7 invites you to re-enable them if you have any malware or virus on PC?

Yes, in some cases, it could if the malicious code voluntarily removes some files of the operating system and enabling technologies. Its usually rare but not impossible.

There are some that will hide your files/folders so that you don't normally see them. I strongly suggest to run a scan on your computer with your antivirus/antimalware software. If you need to, you can also use the Microsoft Safety Scanner, it's free:

  • Stop Internet connection malware and Anti-Malware software

Hello! I have a 2015 MacBook Pro that I use to the work of the College, as you can imagine, I have a lot of important information about this. That being said, I probably should be more careful by browsing the internet, but I have unfortunately seem to have fallen for a 'Java update' Malware thing and have successfully infected my laptop by malicious software.

After reading a few recommendations online, I downloaded MalwareBytes Anti-Malware free and he ran. It is is immediately detected the dangerous Malware and gave me the ability to clean my computer from harmful programs. After he cleaned my computer, it restarted and opened upward.

Not only does the Malware not go far, but it got worse: as soon as the screen is turned on, a bunch of windows appeared, with statements such as: "accountsd wants to use the"login"keychain." & "com.apple.iCloud.Helper.xpc wants to use the"login"keychain". These windows do not disappear when you press Cancel, and I'm afraid to put a password in while my laptop is still affected by the Malware.

Second, none of my browsers will connect to internet. Google Chrome is no longer loads all pages and now often needs to be force-leave out. Finally, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware won't open and it immediately passes "Application not responding" when opening.

Can someone please help me with a solution to this problem? It would be greatly appreciated.

If you have voluntarily or involuntarily exposed your computer to potentially dangerous software, you should consider a backup of your system and a reinstallation of the operating system as no single or multiple scan of your computer can completely provide an accurate assessment of what has been allowed to infiltrate your computer.

What is malware and how do you know if it affects your pc?  Is it possible to solve the problem?

    Definition of malware from Wikipedia.org

Malware, short for malicious software, is made up of programming (code, scripting, active content and other software) designed to disrupt or deny the operation of gathering information that leads to the loss of privacy, or operating, access resources system and other abusive behavior. The expression is a general term used by the professionals for a variety of forms of software code or hostile, intrusive, or annoying program.

One of the best (and FREE) ways to prevent it from running Microsoft Security Essentials, which will scan your (s) and eliminate the bad guys you can be picked up when you surf, opening files is sent to you etc..  Of course security software is only good if it updates often with the newly found bad, but MSE update daily and you can set to sweep once per day or more.
