Manage wireless networks

Windows 8 has removed this feature from the network and sharing Center.  We must seriously!

When windows 8 is used for travel and accumulates a long list of wifi connections, he starts to remember do not network hidden.  I found a utility that allows me to edit and delete the old networks and after removal of all unnecessary networks he instantly connected to my wifi network hidden at home.

Thus, a solution is certainly needed here.  Either they need do automatic network management working properly, or that we must have the ability to manage ourselves.

I realize that the easiest way may not work for the original poster, if the saved networks are not displayed in the pop up column.  All mine because they were all multiple entries for the same WiFi network (at home) named liked: WiFi to the home Wifi at home, home Wi-Fi 2, 2 3, 2 3 4 Home WiFi... 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 home WiFi, etc.

This isn't the only way to use the netsh command, but that's the way I think is easier.

(1) open a prompt with administrative privileges - if you don't know how, just press the and choose 'command line (Admin).

(2) type "netsh" (without the ' '), then press on - your prompt labeled "netsh".

(3) type "wlan" and press - your prompt labeled "netsh wlan.

(4) type 'show profiles' and press - This will display all registered WiFi profiles

(5) tap delete profile_name = 'xxx' (use the 'around the profile name) where xxx is on the list of 'show profiles '.

Tip: You can use wildcards - for example, in my example above I could get

netsh wlan > delete profile name = "home."

and it removes all in one entry

or, I could remove them one at a time: for example netsh wlan > delete profile name = "Homepage WiFi" and to remove one only.

  • Active wireless network has no profile in manage wireless networks

When I go on manage wireless networks, Windows does not display my active network.  When I try manually create a profile for this one and enter all relevant data, it says "access denied."  How to get access?

XP, Windows is automatically connected to the network at startup upward.  Now, I have to manually type in the Code of the key every time until it will connect.  Is it possible to configure Windows 7 to store the key Code and auto connect to the network at startup?

In order to get that control as much as possible as quickly as possible, I downloaded and installed the key registry GrantAdminFullControl that allows any folder right click and select full control of the grant Admin for this folder.  In addition, display hidden files in Folder Options so I could arrange, name and categorize folders to the Start Menu for all users.  I right-click on each folder and subfolder on computer to gain so much control that Windows would allow.  Also, disabled UAC temporarily trying to solve the above problem.

Still no "access denied." I think that if I could manually add a profile for my network, I could find an option allowing Windows to remember my key Code so that when I start the computer, it has auto login and connect wirelessly without the need to enter manually each time code key.

The people of router tried for more than an hour to solve the problem.  Says the problem is on the side Microsoft, and I entirely agree.  There is a stroke of luck in Windows 7 prevention auto connect.  No problem with XP.

    Hello

It seems that if the wireless profile is not saved on your computer. Without the wireless recording profile, it can not connect without providing you the key each time.

So that it can remember without autoconnecting security key, follow these steps:
-Connect to the network, and select Connect automatically.
-Open the center network and sharing (via Control Panel).
    -Click on manage wireless networks.
-Find the profile to the network, double-click it.
-Uncheck connect automatically when this network is in range, and then click OK.

Now, you should find that it will remember the security key

To activate the automatic connection to a certain will make WiFi network the following.

    1. click on start
    2. click on Control Panel
    3. click on network and Internet
    4. click on network and sharing Center
5 next to view your active networks click on connect or disconnect.
    6. do a right-click the unwanted network and select Properties.
    7. on the connection of the new window tab check "connect automatically".

See if you can auto connect the network wanted in the next boot.

I recently created my desktop computer again after having been stored for several months. Before I put it there, I was using wireless internet and local wireline connections regularly and without problem, and now I can not access to either. I was now more confused when I discovered that it also fails to connect to another computer using a direct wired connection, even though I had in the past linked their and transfer large files regularly. • By selecting automatically to a specific wireless network

My computer connects to another network other than mine wireless regularly, and then I have to change the network manually.

I can force my computer to logon to a specific network?

    Thank you

    Doug

    Hello

In fact, you can change the order in which your computer connects to networks, drag the networks upwards or downwards in the list of wireless networks. To change preferences for the network, right-click the network, and then click Properties.

As you mentioned that your computer connects to another network, this problem may occur if one of the following is true.

    1. your computer is located between two networks that you have connected to before.

To resolve this situation, you can do the following:

    (1) move your computer to one of the networks. With the access points or routers 802.11 g and 802. 11 b, is the maximum range of up to 150 feet (46 m) indoors and 300 feet (92 meters) outdoors. With 802. 11A routers and access points, the maximum range is 50 feet (15 meters) indoors and 100 feet (30 meters) outdoors. These ranges are in optimal conditions without interference. Keep in mind when deciding where to locate your computer.

    (2) turn off the automatic passage in one or two network profiles. Please follow the steps:

    a. Click here to open manage wireless networks.

    b. right-click on the network profile that you want to disable the automatic switching, and then click Properties.

    c. click the tab connection, clear the connect to a network more preferred if possible check box, and then click OK.

2 If a network on your list of preferred wireless networks the same SSID as another network that is in range of your computer, Windows might try to switch between the two routers or access points because they feel that they are on the same network. This can happen in places such as apartment buildings or neighborhoods where people have the same network hardware and have not changed the default settings.

To resolve this issue, give a unique SSID in your router or access point. See the documentation provided with the device to find out how to change the SSID.

    3. in the meantime, please visit the help and Support Windows for more information.

  • Problems connecting to the internet using the wireless network connection

I can't connect to the internet using my wireless network connection. I had made the diagnosis and he stated that "the DHCP is not enabled for the wireless network connection. I had checked the DHCP, but it has been activated!... Someone would give any suggestion for me to solve the problem?

Open the run command box by pressing Windows key + R, type services.msc and press enter . Search The Client DHCP and check if it is enabled or disabled. If disabled then turn it on and see if the problem still persists or not.

Open the run command box by pressing Windows key + R, type cmd , and press enter . At the command prompt, type ipconfig/all and press ENTER. Now, check the IP address, default gateway, DNS etc. If you find all the information is correct, but you cannot yet access the Internet so if you connect the wireless network is secure or not. To determine the glance to the wireless network icon in the taskbar, then click on it. It will show you the available wireless networks. If there is a "yellow shield" present on the network icon, the network is not guaranteed, if there is no "yellow shield" does while the network is secure. In a secure network, you might have a "network security key. In this case try to disable the 'Network security key' option for this network. To do this:

Open Control Panel , click network and Internet , click network and sharing Center , click manage wireless networks on the left.

In the list select the wireless network and do a right click, select Properties, Security disable tab all options that is, in security type do not select no authentication (Open) and to the type of encryption , select none . You can also activate the automatic connection and SSID settings to further enhance connectivity, on the connection tab, click to select the "connect automatically if this network is in range " and "check boxesto connect even if the network is broadcasting his name (SSID) .

For more information click here and see how you can determine whether a network is secure or not.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/how-do-I-know-if-a-wireless-network-is-secure

If the problem still persists, then check your firewall settings and make sure that the firewall is not blocking your Internet connection. Some software Antivirus has a built-in firewall and they block by default all unknown connection to the tightening of security.

Try to restore Windows Firewall default settings. Open Control Panel click on network and Internet , click system and security , click Windows Firewall , click default settings .

Hope this will help. Thank you.
