Management of Linux (VAMI) services?

Hello

I want to start using the 'Linux Management Services' - upcoming feature with VMware Studio.

I created my own magement of linux service using eclipse.

My problem is when I import the Studio service (by clicking on the button 'Import the Service'), then the service is imported - well, that's what I expect, of course

But: When I did a version more recent my service (the version number has changed of course) I can import it again but Studio does not detect that this is an updated version of my service and place the same service again. Now, I have two (and even more so when you add several) services with different version numbers.

Please see the attached screens for an example:

vami.png

So my question is:

Is this a bug or a feature ?

I can understand when it is an expected behavior because that can be a really nice feature or even a requirement when trying to build an older version of the device to reproduce something - so the enclosed former service is needed, too.

----

If it comes to behaviour whereas it would be necessary to incorporate that somehow. When we have 10 different service management and each of them has more than 30 versions, the user interface of Studio will 'explode' or at least very difficult to read.

So when you say me that services cannot be replaced in this way that it is ok for me and I'll open a feature request for a 'group function' to my EN issue discussion, of course

added as EN #028 to the list of FR...

----

My second question is on a line in the Studio Developer's guide:

You must manually increment the version of an application package if you want it to replace the old package
during an appliance update.

What does that mean? And how? Maybe it's only a hint that I need to add the new version of service in the profile of my Studio, but I do not know...

How updates are handled when I delete the older management service in the profile, and add the new version? My devices to receive this as an update or not? and what to do when not and I want to do?

As always all the help and ideas welcome!

Thomas

Import of a Studio Management service simply means bringing in a version of the files required to run your personal service in the framework VAMI, in the Studio so that:

-This version of the custom service can be selected to be included in your profile of generation

-the files in a directory structure right for Studio package and include in your device commissioning of dynamically.

You will find a directory for your personal service under/opt/vmware/var/lib/build/services/with subdirectories of all the versions of the files that have been imported. Importation of a service is essentially to create this directory structure. Thus, the group is already in place at this level. For the interface of web Studio, yes you could certainly add to the list of application development. If you need clean up some of the older versions of the files for your service, just remove the directories of these relevant versions.

On the issue of the update, all management services (default and your expensive custom) selected in your construction profile will be individual rpm/deb packages (in the Studio) to be installed in your end device. VAMI update feature works at the package level, i.e. during the upgrade that it compares just all packages that have been installed in the unit compared to the repository to update and install all the packages of non-existence, as well as to update the older packages, including service packs

Based on the foregoing, if you have a newer version of your custom service you want that your device older to be able to upgrade to (as long as the older unit has already VAMI update feature is enabled), naturally you want to import the service in the Studio with a more recent version number so that you can select and then to build the newest device and update from the repository, and a newer version of your custom pkg would be made available to be used for the update. These service composed by Studio pkgs include post-installation scripts by default so that they could be updated accordingly.

Hope the above helps. Give it a try.

    Hi Paz,

Its great you did it works. In the interest of all those who may be blocked with how to map network drives when weblogic or node Manager must be run as a windows service, please go through the below.

    CR202167
When beasvc on Win2003 starts a server on a network share, an error occurs is no longer.

Now the network drive mapping happens within the service itself. The following new settings have been added to the beasvc:

    localName
    RemoteName
    RemoteUser
    RemotePassword
    Usage example:
    -localname: "X:»-remotename:"\\172.17.24.130\src810sp4"- remoteuser:"xyz"- remotepassword:"xyz ".
You map \\172.17.24.130\src810sp4 to your local computer as X: and the remoteuser and remotepassword are used to connect to the remote computer.

    *******************************************************************************************

Note: Services Windows runs as a different user session and is not the same as the session of the interactive user used to log on to the computer. Beasvc has therefore to map the drive under this different session and to get all the details in its configuration.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager on Linux level 3?

  • Uninstalled SRM. vCenter management VR error display Service status

    Hello

I've been trialing SRM and uninstalled.

I uninstalled SRM and also removed the replication apparatus that I deployed to it.

There is now an alert in vCenter Service status VR management is impossible to recover data on the health of https://ipaddress:5480/service/HMS/CGI/health.py

I did some research for the error and found people taking on this error and how to solve if SRM is still present by updating the thumbprint.

I have followed the steps in this Blog from VMware to locate the entry in the LDAP Server vCenter.

If I have more SRM installed, can I remove the many "CN = com.vmware.vcHms," all together? Or is it necessary for other things?

What cleanup steps should I follow to remove all the remains of MRS.?

    Thank you

    Hello

Please see section vSphere vCenter Server if replication Unregister the device has been deleted in the documentation of VR.

  • OpenScript performing through the Oracle Test Manager on linux environments

    Hello

I developed a couple of tests OpenScript (Java only) in my development environment (Windows). But I struggle to run these tests using Test Manager (which runs on a Linux - production environment) while BTA, they work perfectly well. We have the latest installed version of OATS is 12.1.0.2.

When I try to run my tests OpenScript (via OTM) I get this error in the process_console log file:

Anyone know what could be the problem and how can it be solved?
Also, anyone has had luck OpenScript running tests in linux using OTM environments?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Best regards
    Karolis

    Hello Karolis
Starting today, you can not run script OpenScript OTM on Linux. It's on the roadmap, but no I have not yet calendar.
    Two workaround options:
1 / you deploy a remote agent on windows
2 / you create a custom script in testcase type and you use the command line to run a load test script

    JDK/bin/java-jar OLTCommandLine.jar - run - session = test1_ad1-scenarioFile=/export/.../Test_Ad1.scn - OLTServer = localhost:8088 - user = oats-password = UE1-log=/export/.../ad1.log

    Good luck

  • management of accounts of service in oim 11g

    Hello
I have a requirement to bind and unbind the service accounts based on the change of number of employees into account target attribute during reconciliation.

E.g. If emp one service account not 100, it should associate the user user1 say they only have emp no 100. (It is done).

    To handle:
Subsequently if the User1 has revoked, AD admin wants to give the same service account to another user user2 to say that emp is 101. If AD admin will change the EMP of the 101 service account (which was previously 100) directly in the target.

Now, during the next recon, this service account must be connected with User2 without emp no 101.

Please let me know how this can be managed.

    Thanks in advance,
    Padma

You can create a task that is triggered at the end of the update of reconciliation to check and compare the employee number of the current user values and values in coming on the form of process for the employee number. If they are different, then use the API for moveServiceAccount and assign it to the appropriate user. You can trigger this off the default response of a reconciiliation update.

  • Windows Task Manager displays only the services tab, how do I get it back to normal

I am not sure if I pressed a shortcut to change the Task Manager, a few weeks ago. but now when I go to kill a process or an application (needed when applications close they do not end their process), I can kill the process/application, but then close the Task Manager.

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/114377-Task-Manager-small-footprint-mode.html

Double-click inside the border of the Task Manager to return to the normal Mode.

    See you soon.
