management of VLANs 5224

Hello

I need to split my 5224 into 2 VLANS.

I created a second VLAN (222) and configure the ports for it (11-16)

However, I can not then remove these ports in vlan 1. The web interface won't let me mark it as white

They must be completely separated from each other. clearly, I don't want ports (11-16) in the two VLANS.

any suggestions?

Hello

This command help me solve the problem. I group the switch in blocks of ports and used the above command for a group of ports with the same command to vlan 222 for the other game. I left 1 port on the vlan by default for management purposes.

  • Management of VLANS on switches PowerConnect 28XX

I had already tried the PowerConnect 27XX switches (mainly the 2708), and while it worked very well, he had a very, very frustrating feature: the IP address of management was always assigned to VLAN 1 - there is no way to change this.  I wonder if someone who has the (2708 or 2716) 28XX series could tell me if they have added a way to change the management VLAN, or if the management VLAN is always pasted to the VLAN1?  It is a decisive feature - I can't lose a port on VLAN1 on the switch just to be able to manage, as our current environment uses a VLAN for management.

    Thank you

    Nick

management of VLANs is always vlan 1 on 28xx switches.

An option is outwardly loop back one vlan 1 coelio to an access port vlan XX.   This will allow you to manage the switch on any vlan.  Of course, it burns 2 ports, not just 1.  But these switches are inexpensive, so you can have a hard time to find a solution less expensive just to avoid to manage on the vlan 1 or using the hack of the outer loop.

Note: 28xx executes a single PLEASE, so you will need to disable the STP Protocol on the loop back ports if you go with this hack.

  • How to access the management of VLANs with a different virtual LAN (Dell powerconnect 6224)

    Hello

    DELL powerconnect 6224 reference.

I want to access the management of a different VIRTUAL LAN VLAN.

The management of VLANS is 100 of VLAN. not the routing

My computer is vlan 60 (192.168.60.10) and I want to connect via ssh or http (192.168.100.1) to manage my switch.

Thank you for your help on the command line

The management of VLANS on the 6224 is not routable. So, you will not be able to access VLAN 100 from any other VLAN. However, you can manage the switch from other VLAN IP addresses. So if VLAN 60 has an IP of 192.168.60.1 you can http and ssh to it. And if the VLAN routing is enabled you have access to 192.168.60.1 on the other VLAN.

    See you soon

  • PowerConnect 2824: Can't access web management using VLAN TAG 1?

Let's say I have port 20, which is a member with LABEL of VLAN 1, 10 and 20.

If I try to access web management to help interface VLAN 1 TAG, it is not accessible.  However, if I remove the tag VLAN (and the default PVID value of 1), then it works fine.

    Is this a known limit?

In addition, change the management VLAN on my 2824?  (what I read, it is not possible)

You're right about the two statements.  The Web GUI is accessible only through the untagged VLAN 1 and it is not possible to change the management VLAN on the 2800 Series switches.  On the other upper level switches, you can use the ip address command vlan xx to move the management VLAN in the VLAN specified in the statement.

    I hope this helps.

  • Tagged management VLAN and the virtual machines on the same VLAN

I'm faced with a problem related to our Brocade switches newly acquired and get the private VLAN to work on trunk connections to our ESX servers.  Every time I try something different, he creates a new problem.

In our configuration, our management of VLAN is not tag and we have a VLAN for this management network that is placed on our switches VLAN no marked native.  We also have virtual machines hosted on those same ESX servers that are on the same VLAN and everything works fine.  However, when I change the ESX management to carry a label on this VLAN and change the switchports accordingly (IE no untagged VLAN native), management work, but hosted on the ESX Server machines that are on the same VLAN can get no network connectivity.

Is it possible to have a management network labeled and also the host of virtual machines on the same VLAN or is it totally impossible?  I'm not very familiar with networking behind ESX, so I apologize if this is a dumb question with an obvious answer.

    Thank you

    Mark J.

Is it possible to have a management network labeled and also the host of virtual machines on the same VLAN or is it totally impossible?

Yes, it is possible... why it doesn't work for you I don't know, but try the following:

    1. set up the Group of ports of VMS to use VLAN;

    2 configure the interface of management VMkernel port group use VLAN;

3 configure the physical switch port to allow to this VLAN and put the default VLAN natively for these interfaces.

    Hello!

I'm trying to set up a VLAN in my baskets. I have some knowledge about VLANs, but I still can not configure in my path.

    My situation:

I have PC that contains two virtual machines, which works as a router between three networks: LAN, WAN, LAN2. It's a bit complicated, but I'll try to draw:

                                                     |-------------||----------------------------|                   |           e1|-to-eth1-VM2-----WAN|VirtualMachine 1        eth0|---trunk-VLAN1&2---|g1         e2|-to-eth0-VM2-----LAN2|eth0=VLAN1 eth1=VLAN2       |                   |           e3|-to-eth0-VM2-----LAN2 etc.|                         PC |                   |   SWITCH  e4||VirtualMachine 2            |                   |           e5|-to-eth1-VM1---wire-to-LAN2|eth0=VLAN3 eth1=VLAN4   eth1|---trunk-VLAN3&4---|g2         e6|-to-eth0-VM1-----LAN1|----------------------------|                   |           e7|-to-eth0-VM1-----LAN1 etc.                                                 |-------------|

Schema of routing and logical visibility:

    LAN1---VM1-----VM2---WAN |LAN2----------|

Important note is that LAN1 and LAN2 must be separated (visible only through routers). WAN must be visible through VM2 to LAN2 and through by VM1 and VM2 to LAN1. It seems easy, but VLAN that I did on this passage seems doesn't work.

    I do it like this:

Step 1: Management of VLANS / create a VLAN...

Creation of VLANS 1, 2, 3, 4 (numbers meters right now - I have now this number 1 is restricted to the switch).

Step 2: Management of VLAN / Port to VLAN...

Setting up VLAN1 with ports g1, e5 (the two labelled or not identified?-I have not seen any difference)

    Implementation VLAN2 with ports g1, e6, e7, etc...

    Implementation VLAN3 with ports g2, e2, e3, etc...

    Setting up VLAN4 with g2, e1 ports

Step 3: Management of VLAN / Port setting...

Implementation of ports e1 to PVID4 (chassis type = all I guess, but with "capture filter"?)

Setting up port e2 at PVID3

    Setting up port PVID3 e3

    etc...

Setting up port e5 for PVID1

Setting up port e6 at PVID2

Setting up port e7 for PVID2

    etc...

Thus, on this configuration and that the switch it does not work for me

I know that the switch is to see Mac since VLAN which is carried out by PC, because when I arrive in "Admin / dynamic address" I see pimps on the correct ports, with good VLAN ID. So the problem is to transmit a VLAN for their ports, then clear frames of ID and let the packets to go (and return: clear packages, add the VLAN ID and send to their Gigabit ports).

Show the configuration is one of the many I tried :/ but I think this one is the best.

Or maybe I don't know VLAN as I think and this scheme is impossible? Please tell me.

  • How to configure the different VLANs (using the E3200)?

    Hello.

I want to implement different VLANs (using the E3200) so that I can have two different networks that cannot access each other.

The E3200 is connected to a modem for internet access.

I would like that the two networks to access the internet.

The only E3200 does support the creation of VLANs?

If not, is there another way I can satisfy the requirement by using the single E3200 (using something else than VLANs)?

At the end of the day, I think that I would need at least another router.

    Thus, for example,.

Router a (E3200) is connected to the configuration / modem to DHCP with a rank 192.168.1.1/24 LAN IP address.

Router B is connected to the router and Setup for DHCP by using a LAN IP range 192.168.2.1/24.

This peripheral way connected to the router A should not have access to devices connected to router B and vice versa, correct?  For example, X device connected to the router cannot ping or browse files on the device is connected to router B and vice versa, correct?

Do I need to configure anything else on router B?  For example, do I need the DNS configuration settings so that devices connected to router B can connect to the internet without problem?  Do I need to specify that these VLANs are not bridged and which router, or both?

I already know how to configure a static IP address, DHCP, beaches LAN IP and static DNS settings on a router, etc.

With respect to wireless devices, I think that they would follow the same model; for devices connected to the router wireless (E3200) have access to other devices Wi-wired and connected to the router, but not to devices with or without wire, connected to router B and vice versa.  However, if the wireless devices have currently access to wired devices was also connected to the router, so it's good for now.

    Thank you very much!

    -Rami

The E3200 has no support VLAN according to the manual. There is no way to configure two separate networks with this single router.

You need to add network electronics.

    Ex:

    Managed with VLAN switch

    Another wireless router with VLAN

If your modem provides several public or private IP addresses, then you could put a switch after the modem and two wireless routers that are attached to the switch.

  • configuration of VLAN 6224/5448

    Hello

I intend to get ISP co-location services and I need some tips for simple diagram below that I'm not really good in network.

    L3 = 6224 switch

    Switch L2 = 5448

    VLAN blue = management

VLAN = green KVM host. VM it will use to connect to the internet

I created all three VLANs, but I have a few questions

    1. should I have 3 cables of L3 to L2? One for the connection of two switches, two others for vlan10 & 20?

' 2. If I set port 2 and port 1 to vlan10 vlan20, to the title of the page "belonging to a vlan" GUI set for each VLAN?

    3. How can I assign IPs 24 in vlan Green?

Appreciate for any help I can get :)

    Thank you

    ETH.

No need for 3 cables except if you create a GAP. To carry several VLANS through a connection, you use general parameters of the trunk.

    Example:

Console (config) # interface ethernet 1/e7

    mode console # switchport general

Console # switchport General allowed vlan add 2,3,4,5 tag

Console # pvid General switchport 99

It depends on what plug ports 1 and 2. If they connect to a server and that the server is not aware of VLAN, you would set it to not signposted. You can also accomplish this by setting the port to access the mode for the VLAN.

    Example:

Console (config) # interface ethernet 1/e1

    Console # switchport mode access

Console # switchport access vlan 2

But if it connects to another network device VLAN aware, you might consider with label especially if there are several VLANs on the connection.

On the 6224 assign you an address up to the VLAN with these commands.

    Example:

    Console (config) #interface vlan 5

    Console (config - vlan) #ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0

  • Questions of VLAN and configuration for Cisco AIR-CT2504-25-K9 Controller

    Hello

It's my first time thanks to the Cisco wireless solutions, so I was hopping someone could help me with the following:

We just bought the AIR-CT2504-25-K9 controller with some points of access for the AIR-CAP1702I-E-K9.

    The network is as follows:

Peripheral layer 3 (managed by third parties): it's on the domain network. (VLAN by default, 1 - unidentified)

ADSL router - it's the network without comment thread. (Default Vlan 4 - tagged).

    VOIP: VLAN 5.

Both fittings go into a switch Cisco SG500 52 (Layer 2). There is a port to shared resources on the switch SG500 with VLAN 1 (Tagged) and VLAN 4 (with tag). The WLAN controller is plugged into this port trunking.

The data and management network are in the same subnet and on the same VLAN (1).

I used the wizard on the controller setup.

    There are three interfaces:

management VLAN ID 1 IP 192.168.1.2 Port 1 (configured with a gateway domain network, DHCP, etc.).

VLAN wireless identifier 4 IP 192.168.5.1 Port 1 comments (configured with modem router ADSL, DHCP, etc.).

    Virtual IP 192.0.2.1

    Proxy DHCP active overall.

    There are two wlan networks:

    (1) area - management Interface - SSID abc.

    (2) comments - comments Wireless Interface - SSID xyz (the wizard put to management, but I changed it to the wireless).

Are the AP connected to another SG500 switch which is shared resources to the switch with the controller.

Ports of the APs are connected to have only 1 VLAN unidentified. They don't have 4 VLAN Tag or not identified. However, everything seems to work as expected.

When I join the guest network (SSID xyz), I get an IP address from the router ADSL and all Internet traffic goes through him. When I connect to the domain network (SSID abc), I get an IP address from the DHCP in Windows Server and all traffic goes through the device of layer 3 (I checked the public IP address in my browser). I can't ping anything from one network to the other.

    My questions are the following:

    (1) how the guest network traffic (VLAN 4) headed the APs controller when they are connected to the ports on VLAN1? Is it because the traffic is encapsulated?

    (2) is set up correctly? After you configure the controller, I saw a note in the forums, this State I can simply enter 0 for the management of VLANS to let it not identified. However, in my case, I kept it as 1, which is the same as the switches and then the tag VLAN on the switch. In addition, the set Wizard wlan of comments to use the management interface but I changed it to use the comments interface.

    (3) when I connect to the APs of the controller, I see several options that can be configured manually. Is it necessary for this? For example, there is an option of data encryption.

    Thank you

    A

    Hello

    (1) how the guest network traffic (VLAN 4) headed the APs controller when they are connected to the ports on VLAN1? Is it because the traffic is encapsulated?

    Yes, I'm with CAPWAP:

    More information: http://lets-start-to-learn.blogspot.de/2014/08/cisco-wireless-understand...

If you want that mgmt interface must be unmarked and then put 0 otherwise you can use vlan 1.

I do not have what is configured under mgmt and comments interface, but according to the name I'll say yes, you must set the comments under comments wlan interface.

    (3) when I connect to the APs of the controller, I see several options that can be configured manually. Is it necessary for this? For example, there is an option of data encryption.

Yes, there are many things that you can configure, but I'll leave most of the default of things unless you really need to change!

  • How to create and assign a VLAN to specific ports

In our ISA550W, create the VLANS for different subnets and assigning them to specific ports are a piece of cake and self explanitory.

However on a SG300-10MP, I am totally lost lol. I just want to make ports 7 & 8 set to a sous-reseau.10 instead of un.6 as the rest of the switch. I need these ports to be totally independent from the rest and not to communicate with others at all.

    How can I do this?

    Thank you!

    Hi Alex,

Under management of VLANS, go into settings of the interface.  Change the interfaces that you use to access the ports by choosing the way you want by clicking on change.

Once they are access ports back to Port for page VLAN and assign the port desired as one not marked in this interface.

This should be everything you need, let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Removal of VLAN Tag on SG300.

Hi all, tried searching but I am unable to find a specific answer to my question.

I'm testing some equipment at the present time, the basic configuration is a software tester on laptop connects via ethernet on Board of our HAD. Some data must pass through our ESE and reach a second device. Tagged data flows from the laptop to the ESA. I have two switches SG300-10 which is given to me.

These tests require test data to be S - tag only; 802.1ad 0x88A8 Ethertype with my choice of VID (100). There is no C - Tag (0 x 8100), unusual, I know! However my second device cannot manage the VLAN, so I need to remove the label.

Previous test required only the C - tag data, and I managed to remove the labels quite easily by connecting the DUT for the switch port 10, second device with port 10 bridge interface and tagged VLAN 100 the value member and port 9 and 10 port access VLAN 100 interface.

I tried different combinations of setting port 10 customer/general/trunk interfaces but were unable to remove the tags out of port 9. I was able to capture the images desired on port 9 straight, but they are of course marked. I'm working on the presumption that the SG300 can remove S - Tags on output.

The device to port 9 has need of answering queries ARP with a specific MAC address and the response on the same VLAN, which would switch to add to the ARP response. I don't know if this is possible, but perhaps I could replace this device with the second switch if it would respond to ARP on one VLAN only S-Tag.

I would appreciate any pointers that everyone has!

An access port on the SG300 facing the marked port of the remote site has to accomplish this. Handling tag always happens generally during penetration.

  • How to add a VLAN to trunk on Cisco SF200-24 port

    Hi all

I have question want to ask:

I have Cisco switch SF200-24, I want to Setup VLAN as below:

    1 to 10 of Harbour = Vlan 100

    11 to 21 Harbour = Vlan 200

    22-24 Harbour = Vlan 300

    Port GE1 = Trunking (primary)

    Port GE2 = Trunking (secondary)

How to add all the VLAN 100, 200, 300 go through primary and secondary circuits?

What port should I connect to management switch?

    Thank you

    > How to add every VLAN 100, 200, 300 go through primary and secondary circuits?

first set the ports as trunks via the "VLAN management'-> 'Settings of the Interface' - click on the corresponding port, click on the button"Edit"and select"Trunk"in the list.

Once these (GE1 and GE2) ports as trunks, you can now assign all the VLANS you want through "Management of VLAN"-> "a Port VLAN membership." Select the first port (GE1), click on "join the VLAN" and select VLAN all desired from the list on the left and put them in the list on the right.

    and you're done.

    > Which port I can connect to management switch?

the default management IP switch is part of the default VLAN1. If you want to keep access to the switch, assign "VLAN1" to one of the ports of access, or change management VLAN number other than 1 - but in this case remember to apply the correct IP settings in order to satisfy the subnet assigned to the new VIRTUAL LAN.

  • Interface WLC 5508 AP-Manager

Hi, I own a WLC 5508 and (probably), I do not understand the AP Manager interfaces. I have a laboratory with 2 x 1242AG and 1 x 1252AG connected to c2960. APs in vlan 10 (192.168.10.0/24, configured via DHCP), APs are connected to interface 'switchport access mode. C2960 is connected via a trunk to c4506 and WLC is plugged into article gi1/3 and article gi1/4 (both through twingig). The two ports are configured as 'switchport mode trunk ". WLC management interface is IDE oucederomsurlesecondport WLC 8 (linked to article gi1/4), and AP-Manager is on port 1 (connected to article gi1/3) WLC. WLC management interface has 'Management dynamic AP' set to off, and AP-Manager defined activated. The two are interfaces to management and AP-Manager tag, vlan id 12 and 13 (subnets 192.168.12.0/24, 192.168.13.0/24) respectively. APs receive their IP through DHCP configuration (server located in vlan 20, 192.168.20.0, in use ip helper-address) and try to discover DNS resolution WLC (CISCO-CAPWAP - CONTROLLER.some.domain resolves to AP-Manager IP correctly). But AP has the status "not connected" in monitor/statistics/AP join APs do not join to the controller, said WLC "Discovery request Ignoring received on the management interface".

But if I put management interface as "Dynamic AP activated" and change the DNS to resolve CISCO-CAPWAP... it's IP everything works well - AP is associated with the time. Please help, how to reach the KNEES a AP-Manager interface? Sign up for the Manager of WLC is simple, but my design requires at least 2 interfaces AP Manager.

If you have a 5508, why you have the AP Manager?
