Management and Vlan native in different subnet?

Can I have a management ip and vlan native in a different on AIR-1242 switch subnet and 2960?

Native on switch = 1.

The interface vlan 100 = 10.10.1.25X 24

BVI ip to the vlan 100 = 10.10.1.25X 24

-HM-

Hello

As far as I know, the management and the native will be the same... I guess... You have Vlan native as 1 on the switch and Int Vlan 100 on routing switch? Am I wrong? Let me know what are your needs... which will help me to help out you!

for your question...

Normally, we specify him vlan native on the switch and the AP so that communication happens... communication won't happen if there is a match of...

Looking forward to hear from you!

Let me know if that answers your question...

  • How to access the management of VLANs with a different virtual LAN (Dell powerconnect 6224)

    Hello

    DELL powerconnect 6224 reference.

I want to access the management of a different VIRTUAL LAN VLAN.

The management of VLANS is 100 of VLAN. not the routing

My computer is vlan 60 (192.168.60.10) and I want to connect via ssh or http (192.168.100.1) to manage my switch.

Thank you for your help on the command line

The management of VLANS on the 6224 is not routable. So, you will not be able to access VLAN 100 from any other VLAN. However, you can manage the switch from other VLAN IP addresses. So if VLAN 60 has an IP of 192.168.60.1 you can http and ssh to it. And if the VLAN routing is enabled you have access to 192.168.60.1 on the other VLAN.

    See you soon

  • Target subnet mask and the gateway in different subnets and clock error

    Hi all:

Need help. I have a standalone PC operating a direct VI on a CFP with a crossover ethernet cable (developed on my laptop, compiled and installed as a standalone on the PC). When the VI runs on standalone PC version, everything works (click the button, analyzers are read), but the time being pulled from the CFP is wrong, and infact resets to December 1969, a default value. I am error checking, and no error is marked with the CFP, slaughter programmes. When I go to the MAX function, the time playing of the CFP is the funky time. Looking at the IP addresses, I generally use a very standard protocol (192.168.000.001 for the PC, 192.168.000.002 for the CFP currently running on the subnet for the pc and the PSC 255.255.255.000). However, when I apply this Protocol on the CFP through max, it gives the error "the subnet mask you entered puts the target and the entry door to different subnets." I am not versed enough well understand this, and what I read in 2 postings here, I tried to harmonize the IP numbers and the subnet, and they do not seem to help. When I put intentionally in false numbers IP or subnet default time synchronization time correct (pc), but functions block (as expected). It is certainly not an issue of PC zone.

    Anyone can offer any guidance?

Currently runnig LV 8.2 with drivers of 2009. PSC 1804 with MAX 4.6.

    I appreciate all help.

    Best regards;

    GIS.

OK, I solved it. FYI: for those who are not aware of the IP: IP of the host and default gateway server to the same value. My work for the host computer are 192.168.000.001 and subnet masks can stay 255.255.255.000. The CFP has been set to 198.162.000.002 with a 90.00.00.03 DNS. Time server has been blocked by the Norton 2009 Firewall (even with an exception) and thus the cruxt of this issue together. I had to uninstall completely from this "software". I hope this helps.

  • VLAN Tagging (VST) and VLAN native on the same vswitch

I'm trying to figure out if its possible to put running the VLAN tagging for a vswitch if our virtual machines are currently in the vlan 1 (vlan native) on our cisco switches. I don't know why it's set up this way, but change is not an option at this time.

Ultimately what I'm trying to accomplish is setting up a group of servers that differ on one VLAN, but under the same vswitch. I'm assuming that VST is what I need, but I don't know if I can simply specify how vlan 1 as the vlan 1 is not marked on cisco switches and my understanding is that VST requires to carry a label.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    NuRD.

With the vSwitch connected to a trunk on the physical switch port, create the port groups and you need only configure the ID then VLAN for the port groups that do not use of VLAN native. See for example http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1004074

  • Installation of vmotion when management network and vmotion are on different subnets

I have vswitch0 which is located on the 172.18.9.x subnet and has my management interface with a gateway of 172.18.9.1 vkernal using 0 and 4 Teddy

When I create vswitch2 which is on the 172.18.10.x subnet and is for vmotion using Teddy 1 and 5, but the front door must be 172.18.10.1

It seems that I can have only a vkernal gateway. So I don't I get the vmotion switch to use a different gateway?

These are my first boxes of ESXi and I've not enabled ssh, so I only have the vi client to configure with.

You might have a network problem.  Have you tried with just a single teddy bear in the vswitch and used a cross on the cable?  Virtual LANs in use?

  • NFS and VLAN native

    Hi all

I have two channels of different port by interconnection fabric. On a single port channel I have several VLAN assigned to the traffic of the virtual machine so that 1 VLAN by default not identified in a vNIC. Unfortunately, in our factory environment VLAN is used for certain traffic of virtual machine. Now, on the second channel of port it is connected to nexus 5 k switches but only allowed for a NFS VLAN.

The problem I am facing is that if I enable NFS port channel, some of my traffic to the machine virtual stops as it seems that they arrive via public port channel but are trying to wind up with the NFS who filed the application.

I want to use the Group feature VLAN to apply a VLAN for the Port Channel Mapping. I am able to associate a rule for NFS fine, but I'm not able to select the default VLAN in my public group to create a mapping rule.

If I just create a group for NFS, be it re - automatically send everything through the other channel of port? (This is essentially what I want) Or if I create a group and not the second, it will only help the NFS one but leaves the audience in the same situation that bounce between several channels of port?

Thank you for your help and assistance

    Hello

Altogether, you created 10 vlan, including the vlan by default and you are able to add only 9 vlan in this group...

You mean that you want to add the vLAN by default Id in the particular group which was created by you...?

You cannot add the vlan by default Id in groups of VLANs, but an option is there you can change the default vlan ID 1 to another number, you can create a new id vlan 1 and you'll be able to add to the group.

Before making changes to ensure that if id vlan by default 1 used by some other servers or not because if you have changed this means it will disrupt traffic.

  • Temporary IP and VIP addresses on different subnets

I was wondering if it is possible to add a third temporary node on another subnet?

I mean.. now my two knots have these IP: XXX. XXX.0.5 and XXX. XXX.0.6, VIPs are: XXX. XXX.7.15 and XXX. XXX.7.16
Is it possible to add a third node with IP YYY. YYY.0.7 and VIP YYY. YYY.7.17?

Of course they can ping each other and successfully use ssh equivalence...

    Thank you.

Unfortunately no, the nature of the way that some VIPs are working means that it must be on the same subnet throughout the cluster

  • Management and vMotion have the same IP address

Being quite new to ESXi I have spent hours to deceive and reading and do not understand why my management and vMotion interfaces have the same IP.

    The configuration is the following:

    Cisco UCS blades

    8 cards per blade

    vmnic0 and 1 - management

    vmnic2 and 3 - vmotion

    vmnic4 and 5 - IP storage

given the VM vmnic6 and 7-

I installed and the management network has migrated to a DVS without issues.

Now when I create the DVS/port group for vmotion and assign the IP address I met 2 problems as you can see in the screenshot attached the blade/network.

    Thanks for any info.

P.S., Management and vMotion are on different networks.

Yes, the ESXi host may have a default gateway. It is used only when a vmkernel must be routed traffic.

In the case of vMotion - as long as your vMotion enabled vmkernels are all on the same subnet and VLAN, the default gateway will never serve.

Please, I always research it upward on the communities vmware, but if someone could help me? It would be nice...

The management and the network of the virtual machine are different. You can do the cluster to function with the hosts in different subnets, however, for networks in the virtual machine, you will need to provide the same VLAN / networks on physical switch ports, if the virtual machine will not be able to access the network on the other host.

  • WLC and AP on different subnets

I want to add a new access point to my existing controller. Currently I have about 15 AP is connected to one vlan separate mgt for the AP, vlan 10. It's shared resources for the controller and the other VLAN user as Private, Public, etc. WVoIP. I already started to implement EIGRP network instead of having a large layer 2 vlan would be network. In one of the more recent places I'm routing, I have a new AP to connect. I'm trying to make sure that this design will work before I implement. So I have a 3560 connected to my core 4506 with a 3 layer connection. EIGRP works as well. I intend to have the 3560 intervlan routing with vlan voice, data and wireless. The problem I see is how can I get the AP to speak with the controller as they are on different subnets, more a metro E 'WAN '? Any suggestion would be great.

As long that the ROUND was started locally first, this TOUR will be the ip address of the WLC. If you want to fix the ROUND on a different subnet from L3, then configure ip helper-address the ip address of each wlc management. then configure the ip forward-Protocol udp world 12222 & ip forward-Protocol udp 12223 on the router of L3. This with the help of intellectual property, will allow the s TURN to join the WLC on the other end.

  • RV180W ping hostname between VLAN & different subnets

    Hello

I had a RV180w with 1.0.3.10 closes. According to the name of position, I'm not able to resolve host names between different VLANS which affected to different subnets, for example, allows said I have the following hosts:

    CASA:

    192.168.241.100/25 (wired - VLAN 1)

    Router: 192.168.241.1

    DNS: 192.168.241.1

    XBMC: 192.168.242.100/25 (Wi - FI - VLAN 2)

    Router: 192.168.242.1

    DNS: 192.168.242.1

If I try to ping from two sources to one of the two destinations, the only one I get is a message 'impossible '.

Authorized additional information routing between vlans & proxy DNS and if I try to look at the hostname under the 'nslookup' command, I could not resolve the host name, but if I do a "ping - a 192.168.241.100 ' it is said ' response from CASA (192.168.241.100) blah blah blah."

    So what I'm missing here?

Hi Bruno, you can usually solve different subnet host name because the host does not know the subnet that treats it as a security measure.

Disable the firewall feature on your computers and which must fix, otherwise you will probably have to change the lmhost files.

I create and AP group named APGRP1 that contains the AP recorded about WLC and using the two WLAN SSID.

The two AP are connected to the switch acess port configured as native management WLC VLAN access port.

YEARS - Yes it supports, since traffic that involes the WLAN will be inside the tunnel of logic LWAPP/CAPWAP.

  • Script to change the subnet and vlan.

    Hello

Please can anyone help with a script to change the subnet and VLANs on all the esx host in a cluster for the vmotion and management network interface?

    Thank you

    Astra

I guess it worked because you pasted an out front, so:

    Get-Cluster mycluster. Get-VMHost | Get-VMHostNetworkAdapter | where {$_.} PortGroupName - eq "VMotion"} | {} %
    Game-VMHostNetworkAdapter - VirtualNic $_ - IP $_. IP - subnet mask "255.255.254.0" - confirm: $false
    }

I guess that makes still out:

    Get-Cluster mycluster. Get-VMHost | Get-VMHostNetworkAdapter | where {$_.} PortGroupName - eq "VMotion"}

    2 vmknis right?

If Yes, then it should work I think.

  • Running the software iSCSI on a different subnet than the management traffic

I hope I'm missing something obvious you smart people might be able to help with.

I am trying to put in place a small instance of vSphere using ESXi 4.0 Update 2 and unlike most of our environment, we use the iSCSI instead of fibre SAN storage.

The intention is to set up a network on subnet A, for management and Vmotion traffic which will have 2 natachasery attached.

We have a second 'B' allocated for iSCSI storage subnet and have 2 separate natachasery which will be implemented through two vSwitches, 1 Teddy for each.

We have implemented the switch management/vmotion on a subnet and, of course, the default for this subnet gateway entry when asked.

The iSCSI subnet naturally has a different gateway and so when I entered IP address on subnet B in the port of core, it seems always trying to route through the gateway to subnet an attack to storage not being is not visible.

We have verified that the problem is not with the storage or the ESXi put in place by proving that if we give the iSCSI port IP subnet A (and also the storage) then we can see storage without problems - simply, the question seems to be everywhere to try to operate on a completely isolated subnet.

Isolation of storage traffic is a customer demand, and not something that we cannot ignore.

Anyone know if it's possible (and if so what should I do to solve the problem) OR should we look for to move to ESX Classis and use his ability to use 2 different gateways?

I feel that I must be missing something pretty obvious I don't know there must be a way to achieve segregation of traffic on subnets for the other core activities such as vmotion, fault tolerance and management traffic.

There is only one door of entry for VMkernel, then you can separate VMotion / iSCSI / fault tolerance than if not routable subnets, i.e. all hosts on the same subnet.

  • Change the order of VLAN native?

Can someone refresh me please as to what the command is to change the VLAN native for the whole switch? (IE: not only on the trunk, I mean the default native for the whole switch). Thank you

Can someone please refresh me as to what the command is to change the Native VLAN for the entire switch? (IE: not just on the trunk, I mean the default native for the entire switch). Thanks

    Hi Steve,.

By default, there is only one VLAN for all ports. This VLAN is called by default. You can't rename or delete VLAN 1.

If you're talking about a management VLAN is nothing else than a VIRTUAL local network that is used for managing in-band of the network switching devices.  To configure this on a switch, you must create a Switch Virtual Interface (SVI) that is mapped to this VLAN, and then assign this virtual interface an IP address.  On a Cisco switch, it would look like the following.

    Interface Vlan99
    IP 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
    No tap

I also want to make something very clear.  Your management VLAN is not to be identical to your VLAN native.  Question, please make sure that they are different.  Your management VLAN must only carry the traffic of in-band management and should not be the default VLAN.  By in-band management traffic, I am referring to SSH or telnet (Although telnet is not recommended because it is not safe).  Traffic such as BPDUS, PagP, CDP, use the VLAN native who is the vlan 1. But if you change the vlan native then CDP, VTP/PagP will always use the vlan 1 but packages will be marked. Only DTP uses vlan native so if you have changed the vlan native then DTP would use the new VLAN to send images. With PVST + BPDUS of course run on all the VLANS.

    Hope to help!

    So useful note the position
