map tags to styles of object?

Hello ID users and developers!

Well, now I know that tags of an imported xml file can be mapped to the corresponding table of the identity document or paragraph styles.

But if I have to map any tag to a style of object?

Import images with < Image href = "chemin_image" / > tag.

Now, how can I link to a style of object Image?

Thank you, Alex.

This isn't.

It would be nice if someday.

I have been taking regularly make changes in management Style of the object by the addition of new styles, I needed more than 5 months now. Now, I'm picking up my old courses and need to change the styles of most objects. But when I import the style object manager export file (*.cps), it creates unnecessary clones which makes my job very difficult. Every time I have import a newer version of the object Style file manager, more clones appear and I have to delete them manually.

So is there a way to completely reset the object Style crib?

I wonder because you seem to make a difference between the themes and styles of object, but the object styles are an integral part of a theme, such as palette theme colors, master slides and parameters of the skin. Personally, I keep everything in a theme and load the theme I need. You seem to separate the two, and export/import of such styles as was necessary in older versions of CP before themes appear (with 6 if my memory is OK).

  • Select all objects with the same style of object?

I did some research but empty is come. It is possible to select all the objects on a page that have the same style of applied object?

What I want to do, is apply an action 'frame content' to a large group of text boxes (labels on a map). But this mounting option doesn't seem to be available as part of the style of the object.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Try using the option Auto-size text block rather in the style of the object. This feature (found in the object > text frame Options) is useful to the legends of autosize following certain rules.

This attribute can be used in object styles.

  • The most effective way to import text ('tag' or 'style' pre-text?)

Once again, my apologies to all the good people here who are so useful that I shows ignorance about the FrameMaker product.

Always in collaboration with FrameMaker 9, still working on an old background of PageMaker (and print background before that).

I remember being able to import the tag pre or pre style plain text in PageMaker.  For example, I could put in something the equivalent of a bunch of text that looks like this:

[body] Lorem ipsum... bibbibity bobbity dooo...

[subtitle] Presentations to the delicious taste

    [body] More fun text

And then import this text in PageMaker is pick up these defined styles and make the material much faster import process.

Is there a way to do the same to that of FrameMaker 9?

Please feel free to direct me to materials that are in the line/manuals help, but please note that I am following in the paths of a person who used to work and find the manuals and other materials for the software I have * absolutely * know was purchased (I was a systems administrator and know the staff in charge of) (, so I know it was bought and installed using a systems administrator no user has rights to install on their system of my work here) can be which is not simple.

    Thanks in advance

Oh, a thought here suite.  If something like the above is possible, is it also possible to do the same with materials in the tables?  In other words, can I pre-define the components of a table and see FrameMaker 9 import these materials and create a table for me "automatically"?

    Once again, thank you

    Barry,

You can use a text editor such as Notepad and the markup of the content in XML format. If this tag is compatible with your ESD, then you can import it into your FrameMaker document for copy or reference and he enrolled in full.

Tables are a bit more complicated, because you need also some read/write rules to tell FrameMaker which part of the marked-up content is an object table. You can find the details in "DEVELOPING STRUCTURED APPLICATIONS WITHvADOBE® FRAMEMAKER® 9 ' which is supplied with the FrameMaker application.

    Good luck

  • Captivate 9 Style Manager object crashing

OK - simple enough - my system was working fine and I was able to use the styles and preferences with no problems. In the middle of the development of a sensitive, I opened the object manager stlyle to reset the default values of the intelligent forms and its empty opening. I wouldn't go far without resorting to Ctrl-alt-delete to end the program.

I cleared caches and reopened Captivate. Until I opened a project, I opened the object Style Manager to set the defauilts and found the same behavior. I went in the back-end and run the preferences file own bat and reopened Captivate. The Style of the object manager is always empty opening and crashing the program. On the Task Manager to stop the currently running program, the Manager of object Style closed earlier than the program once and updated a fatal error message that indicates a backup file was created. There is no backup anywhere file (not a problem, all these mistakes occurred early or before even that a file was opened).

    Thoughts?

    Justenuf

I always use this version as well (see too much at stake to upgrade my workstation at the moment). Although I rather frequent crashes, never known the problem you describe. Especially since you have disabled the preferences. Can I clear the cache on a regular basis? It was the first version 9 installed on your system or that you have upgraded to version 9.0.0 to 9.0.1? Since it seems to be related with styles, can you try to remove the Layouts folder in public documents, while CP is closed? When you restart CP, will make a new copy of the original. Maybe the corruption in some themes? Have you tried to change a theme?

  • Style of object attributes

Using InDesign CS4, I want to create an object style that applies to objects that are "colorized". In other words, they are images in levels of gray, selected with the direct Selection tool, and then a color has been applied to them in InDesign. Some of the graphs have a custom text wrapping and some have no film. The main reason for having the style of the object is to apply colorization.

Does anyone know how to create an object style that applies to colorize and does not change the text wrapping setting each object?

I doubt it will work because the color is applied to the content of the image, not the framework itself.

  • Assign paragraph styles to xml tags correctly. How?

    Hello

I want to assign xml tags to paragraph styles in InDesign CS6 on a Mac 10.6.8. The XML itself is organized as follows:

    <? XML version = "1.0" encoding = "UTF-8" standalone = "yes"? >

    < catalog >

    < article id '32434' = >

    "< img href="/bilder/32434.tiff "/ >

    < artikeltextgruppe >

    < artikelmarke > DieselGabana < / artikelmarke >

    < artikelheadline > super Jeans ist < / artikelheadline >

    < artikeltext > Superjeans knallt kidney. < / artikeltext > < number > 70238 < / weight >

    < artikelmaterial > 100% Jeans < / artikelmaterial >

    < artikelgroesse > UK < / artikelgroesse >

    < artikelfarbe > UK < / artikelfarbe >

    < / artikeltextgruppe >

    < / product >

    < / katalog >

By selecting the option "Assign formats by name to the tags' (translated from the German), I wanted to create the desired look. But if I start all I get is the entire < artikeltextgruppe > textblock assigned to 1 formatstyle. And not to mention that the whole content of < artikeltextgruppe > resembles a single paragraph without any structure (no line breaks) the content is properly structured, because I can highlight the value of e.g. < artikelmarke > separately by doubleclicking the tag in the structure view.

    (a) what can I do to assign formats correctly AND to have correct line breaks?

"(b) if I drag my node < img href="/bilder/32434.tiff "/ > iin the layout, I get a message posted to search again for the location of the correct reference. And this happens independently on the use of the relative or absolute references (even if I need to use those on) what can I do here?

    Thank you very much

First of all, I have probably do a search and replace to remove the group element with a text editor ( and elements). They aren't really necessary.

Secondly, I usually create my styles with the same names as the items themselves. Then, after the XML is imported, I use the command "map tags to styles" in the Structure pane.

I copied and pasted the single article element to create 4 folders, added a change to an image for each record of the item. Once the paragraph styles have been mapped, your XML looked like this in form of two columns (to get all 4 records on a page)...

By default, ID creates a single line to a single line in the XML file. So if you want to be on their own line of the elements, the XML must be formatted like this. If you need a different style within a paragraph, you create character styles and edit the items in a group of XML and or paragraph and add the code in the XML file accordingly or post-processing once inside the code.

I still need to take the XML I gives me and reformat, moves with the tree items, change the links to the images, delete tabs and or spaces where I do not want, tag character styles, etc., to be closer to how I want the original format to be.

  • Cannot delete the XML tag

Hi all! Working in InD CS6 in Windows 7.

I have a XML element in a document that I can't do anything with and who does not appear to be associated with what in the file of the InD. The red line is pointing to it on the Panel Structure in the image below. Note the X through its icon.

    ErrantXMLElement.JPG

The XML is added to the InD file by mapping tags to styles using the Load... button on the dialog box map tags to Styles and 'import' of another document of the InD.

When right clicking this item in the Structure of Panel and selecting go to point the current selection goes, but then nothing else happens. Or to delete this in the Panel of Structures . I had a similar problem, a bit a go where I somehow finished with elements in the XML file that were not associated with what anyone in the document. Had those text display in the Structure Panel after the name as shown above, but, even once, go at them will not anywhere. I hadn't studied at the time because I could simply remove it from the structure.

With this element, however, I can't get rid of it without marking not any frame.

So, I guess I really questions. It's this thing! How the hell he get there? And is there a better way to remove it rather than not tagging any of the frame and have to re - mark all content.

EDIT: Just found out that using the trash on the pallet Structure to remove the parent of the problematic element, indeed, removes as problematic. Before him, I was just not marking the parent who has transferred only the problem child (like these word games) for the previous parent.

    Thanks for reading this way-too-long-post.

OK (he said with a blush to cheeks) I get noticed something in common, I didn't before posting.

Page to which cchimi kindly provided a link described icon as a part empty, and it is attached to an empty block. However, it is not only an empty block.

What happened in our file, is that the script containing the tag with an anchor marker tag xml that InD apparently do not like much. Type of logic, really.

Now, I may be cracking, but with a single instance of the element of 'bad' I thought THAT I could see the empty element in the story discovers with the anchor to a few characters on. I selected the anchor and dragged back between the start and end code and icon of the item has changed and he returned 'alive', I was able to handle it. For most other troublesome elements, however, sinpy AND marking a marker of the anchor, the XML tag does NOT display in story mode. The element gets the empty icon when you simply tag the anchor marker, in this case it is an anchor for a rule.

Hope this might help someone, someday.

    Thanks again for reading.

  • CS3: Editing of XML tags delete behavior

    Hello world

I try to import the XML - tag text into InDesign and use tags to map styles to give it the correct formatting automatically. It works perfectly, but it seems to be a problem when I try to remove or mitigate the paragraphs. In a normal document, deleting a paragraph leaves the next paragraph intact. In my document XML-filled, when I delete a paragraph, following paragraph takes the style of the para, I just deleted. I really want to do this!

Any of you have seen this effect before? Is the problem to do with the way my XML tags are structured? I'm not having luck with the research for this problem, but maybe I don't know the right words...

The tag level paragraph around the next paragraph remains intact, so if I reapply my mapping tags-for-styles, paragraph misstyled now is corrected (but restylings I made or substitutions are eliminated). However, if I remove the brand throughout the document, it refers to the correct behavior.

I would really appreciate any advice you may have on what I'm doing wrong here. It's probably a rookie mistake, but I don't see what I'm doing wrong. I use InDesign CS3.

    Thank you very much!

Of the operation when you map tags to styles?

I suspect what could happen is that some of the paragraphs were initially marked by quadruple-click or by mapping styles to tags. One of these involves paragraph returns are included in the tags, so that closing tags occur at the beginning of new paragraphs. Then, when you delete a paragraph, you're left with remnants of old labels of this paragraph (with nothing inside) in the following paragraph. (Check the editor mode to test this.) Now, if you map tags to styles at this stage, a paragraph with residual tags like these can be given the style of a paragraph that was deleted.

The way to avoid it is to ensure the closing tags occur before paragraph returns - but of course if you get InDesign to "clone" for repeated XML elements, the resulting 'cloning' behavior will be different. Consider the possibility of not to include the content of the white elements only to fix. It will probably take a bit of trial and error to work exactly as you want, but it is by for the course!

  • MySQL to print the product catalog

    Hello

Rob might know the answer to this one.

    Background:

I have a product web site PHP & MySQL. The owner wishes to automate the production of a product catalog printed (about 600 records) MySQL database.   I can't query SQL and php to output in HTML format without problem.  But the owner would print something more elegant.

    Newbie questions:

How to port MySQL disks in InDesign?  Or do I convert MySQL XML first?

What is the procedure? How transparent is it?

What are the pitfalls I should know about?

Is there any detailed tutorials on how to do it?

    Thank you

    Nancy O.

I've experimented with MySQL export to TCPDF. It is pretty easy to do, but the results do not have poles. I wasn't able to get the text to expand around images or control where pages broke. Maybe it was my lack of experience with TCPDF. It seems to be very powerful, but the documentation is the nest of a rat.

MySQL export in XML format is very simple. The InDesign help documentation has many details on how to import XML and map tags to styles; Import XML in InDesign. The advantage of InDesign, it's that you get really good control over the way in which the final document is laid out. Caveat: I have not used to import XML, and I did not use InDesign for several years. But I have used old versions for many years to create a post of page-100-plus for the Japanese company in the United Kingdom. I found that working with InDesign is pretty simple. I hope it's always.

  • DropDownList in a ListBox? (CS4 ScriptUI)

The dialog box "Map tags to styles" in InDesign is exactly what I want: a ListBox control with 2 columns; the first column in text, and the second being a DropDownList control.

Someone has any idea how this? According to the documentation and my game, it seems that you can add ListIems to a ListBox (or any list control), and ListItems can only contain text and an image icon.

    Indeed puzzled on this...

Most likely, it is not written using the ScriptUI.

At the level of a plugin, you can do pretty much anything you want, even inside the dialog boxes and its subobjects. The ScriptUI is limited to what you read in the manual. For example, I don't think that Tetris (http://indesign.pluginsworld.com/plugins/adobe/656/dtp-tools/tetris.html) can be written using the ScriptUI.
