material high interrupt CPU under Windows 2003

Hi guys,.

I have several virtual machines running windows 2003 and citrix presentation server 4.5 and I experience interruptions of cpu high on the virtual machine as 30 to 40% of the time cpu, so if the CPU is busy for 20%, it is almost 20% compared to that of the downtime.

I created a new virtual machine from scratch, tried more vcpus, cloned a physics (I know that this is what may cause, but just to test) and several other things.

The performance is very erratic, sometimes the graphic bellow is completely red. It must be a problem with a planner to UC or something. Could you guys please give me some advice? Thank you!

Capture.JPG

CPU usage increases when a system process requires more time or when several network packets are sent and received. The CPU becomes too busy when the CPU receives too many packets of the switch hardware or when a system process consumes too much time CPU. When one of these functions is using CPU resources, then it will be at the expense of the other, because the CPU is too busy.  For example, if the CPU gets number of packets due to a storm of broadcasting on the network, it is so busy processing all the packages that the other processes in the system do not have access to the resources of the processor.

Just check if the CPU is busy processing network packets.

  • install ESXi on an existing machine under windows 2003

    Hi all

    I'm new to VMware and I just installed ESXi on a machine with server 2003 installed. My questions are:

    1: can I still access my windows 2003 server, bypassing the connection of ESXi? If so, how? If not, it means that after I had installed ESXi on this machine, Server 2003 is removed.

    2: How do I reinstall the ESXi on this machine?

    I converted two of my physical servers into virtual machines using the converter. And my questions are:

    1: after you import the virtual machine, I deleted it from the VMware client. This particular virtual machine is no longer visible but still displays taking up resources such as HDD, CPU, RAM etc. How to release my resources?

    2:i have two network cards in the physical server, and when I've converted and brought it into a VMware customer, everything is ok except the network cards. They show that some cards AMD NIC. I'm not able to use network cards. And I already tried to convert twice i just cases that something went wrong with conversion. but the problem remains.

    Thank you.

    As the other poster mentioned, (ESXi and ESX) are installed bare metal - they install their operating systems, so I think your Win2k3 installation is missing if you have it installed on the same disk.

    When you removed the VM you remove disk or delete forminventory - if you have removed the inventory and it was running, it will still resources - for the correction of network cards virtual you need to install VMware tools - this will load the appropriate virtual machine drivers and it will improve your performance - up to this virtual material of your virtual machine will be identified as a physical hardware as the AMD PCnet Ethernet controller-

  • Crescent of cpu and memory under windows 2003

    Hello

    I have a windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 virtual machine with 1 cpu and 4 GB of memory.

    Can I increase cpu 1 to 4

    In the past, I've increased cpu 2 to 4 on similar without any problem, but not sure machines ranging from 1 to 4 cpu

    In the past, take action:

    Turn off the virtual machine

    Take snpshot

    increase the number of cpu 2 to 4

    increase of 2 to 4 GB memory

    Start the virtual machine

    Check Device Manager to make sure that the additional processors are visible

    Check the additional memory is visible

    Remove the snapshot

    Instant return if the process fails

    What also vmware WARNING "change the number of CPUs after the guest OS was isntalled can make your virtual machine unstable."

    Thank you

    Hello

    I did this operation, hundreds of times, no problems at all. Problem may occur when you reduce several CPU single-processor. Going from simple to several CPU no problem at all. Of course good to have a clone\snapsot of virtual machine before you make any change :-)

  • FMS3 and AMD 64 bit under Windows 2003 R2?

    I installed FMS 3.0 on a HP Proliant server with processor AMD 64-bit running Windows Server 2003 R2. The FMS service is running, I can see connects to the application of the "vod" provided, but I can't listen to any video. County data transfer remains low. I have no idea why its not working and now think FMS 3.0 is not easy to AMD or (worse) is not 64-bit friendly. Anyone for some?

    It is strange that such a cutting-edge product is not 64-bit. Its becoming very difficult to purchase native 32-bit servers (nine in any case).

    The answer is Yes, it works. The question was a configuration error on my part (because of a confusing configuration example).

    If I turned off the printer and then turn it back on, all queue jobs start printing immediately.

    Prevents them from taken in charge by the printer?

    I changed the network switch and the cable from the printer. Everything else on the network works perfectly.

  • Database standby manual (10.2.0.2.0) under Windows 2003 R2

    Hello

    We are developing a database of Eve at a remote site for a simple oracle DB. As we already have a standby/master for another Oracle DB (from SAP) we want to stay as close as possible to what already exists.
    For SAP Oracle standby, we manually copy all archived on the stand-by and apply them with brarchive. Everything works very well.
    For new standby, we cannot use brarchive as there is no SAP installation on the eve, but we stay with the 'manual' copy of the archive from the master to the waiting (via robocpy). This means that all archives are on standby mode (K:\oracle\oradata\archive).
    The creation of the DB in waiting seems to be OK I open it, but I can't seem to apply redo logs.

    I am quite new to oracle, so maybe it's a very basic question, but I already spent 3 days on this subject...

    To start the DB, we throw a bat script:
    sqlplus/nolog @c:\backup\standby.sql
    pause

    the standby.sql:
    connect /@TECDB01 as sysdba
    startup nomount;
    ALTER database base_de_donnees eve of Mount;
    "exit";

    Can I connect to sqlplus and enter:
    change recover managed standby database;

    In another sqlplus session:
    SELECT PROCESS, STATUS, THREAD #, SEQUENCE #, BLOCK #, BLOCKS FROM V$ MANAGED_STANDBY;
    which give me:
    STATUS OF PROCESS THREAD # SEQUENCE # BLOCK # BLOCKS
    ARCH CONNECTED 0 0 0 0
    ARCH CONNECTED 0 0 0 0
    Mr (FG) 1 45400 WAIT_FOR_GAP 0 0
    RFS IDLE 0 0 0 0

    45400 sequence seems to be ok about the time of the backup that is restored on the eve.
    Archive is on the server, but it will not be applied.

    but we stay with the 'manual' copy of the archive from the master to the expectation (using robocpy). This means that all archives are on standby mode (K:\oracle\oradata\archive).

    In this case, you should not use the keyword MANAGED in get it BACK... DATABASE PENDING.

    MANAGED applies when Eve is part of an 'Oracle Standby' infrastructure where the primary ships archivelogs (by ARCH or LGWR) and a processs RFS on the eve receives files, update the local controlfile (on standby).

    If you do manual shipping you use RECOVER STANDBY DATABASE (interactive mode) or RECOVER AUTOMATIC STANDBY DATABASE (automatic mode that stops when it cannot see any archivelogs more). These modes are not based on the controlfile Eve know what archivelogs are available but in fact search archivelogs (similar to the DATABASE with the HELP of BACKUP CONTROLFILE RECOVERY what who is not aware of the "later" archivelogs, but seeks only to the log_archive_dest expected).

  • SQL 2000 on Windows 2003, which is a physical machine is vSphere6 (P2V) using last Converter?

    Hi all

    I am considering P2V, i.e. 2000 SQL under Windows 2003, in vSphere environment 6. Lastes converter he takes?

    If this is not the case, how can I do? With the help of old converter? I did not before P2V. Your opinion will help a lot.

    It seems to work (tested with 6.1.1)

    I would say stop all sql processes before the conversion.

  • Windows 2003 R2 + GParted = / = increased the boot partition

    Hello

    I am trying to increase my partition to boot under Windows 2003 R2. I have added space for the vmdk, ran GParted and extended with success the C: partition. When I start the machine the C: reports the old smaller value. I ran the check disk and ran fixmbr, but the problem is not resolved. I've attached a picture showing the problem circled in red.

    Thank you.

    I saw this happen once or twice now. It seems that the end partition information are not defined correctly in the gparted partition table in some cases. Usually a resize another (minor) will fix the problem.

  • Ora_dba group is not present in windows 2003

    Installing Oracle will automatically create it. You don't need to do it manually.

  • Oracle process has many flaws of page on windows 2003 64-bit with 16 GB of RAM

    Hello

    We have recently installed a new Oracle RAC database on a customer site:

    2 - nodes x SP2 of Windows 2003 R2 Standard x 64
    Oracle 10.2.0.6.0 64-bit
    Each node has 16 GB of RAM
    SGA_TARGET = 1536M
    PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET = 1628M

    Navigation via Enterprise Manager, there was a warning on "virtual memory an Excessive paging. So I opened the the Task Manager Windows on one of the nodes, and Yes, I see a considerable number of 'page fault' for the oracle.exe process. To give a slightly better idea, some relevant columns for this process I write values:
    Proc Name     Memory Use      Max Mem Use         Virtual Mem Size       Page Faults
    oracle.exe    2.690.692KB     2.959.324KB         3.053.889KB            2.914.171.009
    And this value for 'page fault' increases 1000-2000 about a second.

    There are several other processes running on the server, nothing appears out of the ordinary for me (for example the process of Enterprise Manager, AntiVirus, winlogon.exe). The sum of the memory of these processes are using / used is about 1 GB.

    Looking at the "performance" tab in the Task Manager, I see that:
    Total Physical Memory = 16Gb
    Available = 12Gb
    All of this makes sense to me:
    16Gb RAM
    4Gb used by all processes on the server
    12Gb available
    So why do we not see paging for oracle.exe? I guess I'm missing something on what exactly the column 'page errors' told me. Can someone explain what is happening?

    See my replies in this thread: use of swap high - 11 g on windows 2003 x 64 file

    Of http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc961101.aspx (monitoring and Tuning your server):
    "If a process request a page in memory and the system cannot find the requested location, this is a page fault. (If the page is elsewhere in memory fault is called a soft page fault.) If the page must be retrieved from disk, the fault is called a page fault.) The system also has a page on a file access error if the requested page is not found in the file system Cache and must be retrieved from storage. Counters page fault does not distinguish between hard and soft faults, so you must combine meter information to deduce the number of hard faults.
    To follow the pagination, log the following counters: memoire\ of Page/s, memoire\/s Cache faults defects and memoire\ reading of pages/sec. The first two of them follow the working sets and the file system Cache. Contributes to the counter of page reads you following hard page faults: a high rate of page faults associated with a high rate of page reads (as highlighted in the disk counters) indicates a high rate of hard faults. "

    In short, a fair session connect or disconnect from the instance of database will increase the number of page faults (soft).
