Material UUID in vmware 6.0?
VMware KB: UUID of the ESX host is not unique
One of my clients faces the questions above on several of his guests trying to add them to a backup device that does not support duplicate material UUID.
Unfortunately, the method used to determine UUID material in the KB does not work with ESX 6, (gives a 503 error) and appears not to be the same UUID recovered with system UUID esxicli get. Y at - it another way to get the hardware/host UUID (apparently NOT the UUID system)?

You must activate objects managed in ESXi 6 host Explorer.

To enable or disable the managed object browser using the vSphere client connected directly to the ESXi host, follow these steps:
- In the vSphere Client, select the host in the inventory.
In the right pane, click the Configuration tab.
Under software, select Advanced settings.
In the left pane of the Advanced Settings dialog box, select Config > HostAgent > plugins > solo.
Select or deselect Config.HostAgent.plugins.solo.enableMob to enable or disable the managed object browser.

The VMware tool exposed not something of special for you in the key out of... There is a way to define custom attributes in the .vmx file, which can then be extracted with the client, the problem with this is A) you must add an entry in the .vmx need still the privileges that we discussed B) this can be blocked by defining specific within the .vmx security entries for do not allow this information

We are currently using esx 4.0 and virtual material all our vm are at version 4. I need to upgrade to version 7 to take advantage of the new api of storage etc.
My question is, when I've upgrade to version 7 will change the backend disk array vmfs config anyway. Sounds silly and I'm pretty sure that the answer is no. However my production servers and test servers are on the same Lun, so I don't want to upgrade a test version 7 virtual machine and then discover he did change for my LUN vmfs my vm production is also on.

Impression of MS PowerPoint of Vmware Fusion
I've created a slide in PowerPoint 2003 I want to print several copies of (such as 125). Whenever I set up printing of multiple copies, I get only one. This was not a problem in the past, but I don't know when the last time I printed multiple what whatsoever. Can anyone help with this?

Using a recovery disk to install on VMWare Player
I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong place, but I'm finding things to do in VirtualBox, but I want to know if it is possible to do in VMWare. When I bought this laptop, it had Windows on it and I made a recovery disk which is locked on my laptop hardware and then installed crunchbang linux and VMWare Player under him. I run dmidecode for my list of equipment. Now, my question is, is there a way to change the material of the VMWare to emulate the hardware of my laptop so I can install on my recovery disk? Otherwise I'll have to go to the local store and buy Windows.
The only material that is passed to the VM is the CPU - another hard while is virtualized.

I started using VMware a couple of days for the tests. I have a client who has VMware ESX Server 3i installed they have a HP Server and I have a Dell Server I installed the same version of VMware ESXi.
If I download their images run on Dell Server? Or is it that there is a problem?

That's what VMware call the independence of the material. http://www.VMware.com/virtualization/virtual-machine.html#c25953
Basically, your VM has no knowledge of what is running on the hardware - so feel free to move to Dell for HP hardware and back.
However - vMotion, the displacement of an engine on the virtual machine from one server to another server requires similar processors on both hosts.

Now, I want to install Windows 2003 server enterprise edition. But my laptop does not support any other operating system. Also the drivers don't are not available on the net.i have heard of VMWARE WORKSTATION.

Yes, it's possible and not only W2K3. You can also use any other operating systems such as W2K, XP, Linux...
There is also a free version: VMware Server 2.x.

Ericson, voce checou is o servidor wave voce quer rodar o ESXi esta na Lista de Compatibilidade of material da VMware? O ESX/ESXi so roda em material homologado pela VMware. ISTO porque nao da pra oferecer o nivel confiabilidade do ESX sem testar cada antes hardware config.
SE o seu material esta na lista, sugiro as abra um chamado then not suporte da VMware.

2 GB Split problem - vdiskmanager do not obey

We have a strange effect with a vmware virtual disk file in one of our vmwares.
But first of all the necessary information of the host system and the prompt:
host system:
- Windows 2008 server r2 Enterprise Edition 64-bit
- VMware workstation 8.0.1 build-528992
comments to VMware system:
- Windows 2008 server r2 Enterprise Edition 64-bit
- the vmware box was created and installed on the same host system
- during installation, the vmware virtual disk has been updated with a size of 1 TB as not préallouée hard drive stored in several files
the properties of this disc are also listed under vmware hardware parameters after installation
noticed the problem
- the comment system is fully operational and running
- We store about 150 GB on the guest system before at a backup of the box, we noticed that we got only one big vmdk file

Problem is that the Mac is very picky and not just any PC3-10600 1333 MHz modules will work.
Your best bet is to buy for providers like OWC and Crucial memory modules that specialize iMac RAM.
