MathScript scripting

Hello

Calling functions MathScript does not seem to record using the macro recording function. Is it possible to call functions MathScript in script interface?

Thank you

Steve.

Hi St3ve,

I did not myself, but the help system says:

"When you create or modify a MathScript, tiara creates a compiled."
LabVIEW VI that has the same name as the MathScript and is preceded
with the text DIAdem_MathScript_ on the way to the user SCRIPT. »

You will also find a 'DIAdem_MathScript_... '. "VI in your path of user Script?

  • MathScript instability with large Matlab scripts? (Labview 8.5.1)

    Hello

I the student of LabView 8.5.1 version and experiences a lot of instability when you use Mathscript in Labview (the Mathscript block or the Mathscript window), but only when it comes to the larger scripts. The Matlab script is about 250 lines long and 16 KB of size and in this framework, are seven large paintings (six 14 x 8, built at the beginning and a 1000 x 9 which is built in a loop for, so increases with each iteration until 1000 lines). I find that whenever I have modify the script in the Mathscript node or the Mathscript window will freeze and hang for at least 10 minutes, sometimes totally crashing Labview Labview. As I wrote the script in Matlab, I'll have to debug in Labview and know what commands in Matlab do not work in Mathscript/Labview, so it's obviously pretty infuriating to have the program regularly hang for 10 minutes at a time.

The computer I use is a desktop Packard Bell 5 year with 768 MB of Ram (less 32 MB integrated graphics card), running XP Pro. The processor is an Intel Celeron 2.6 GHz. I appreciate this isn't the best specced machine ever, but at the time it was all I could afford!

Is this common suspended a little problem with Labview and Mathscript file ".m" large, or is manipulation - this purely down to my old computer?

Thank you much for the help.

    Hello

The delay that you experience is a problem with the big scripts in MathScript.  The delay increases exponentially with the length of the script.  For this reason, we recommend disaggregation great scripts and files ".m" in rooms separated by about 40 lines.  On faster computers, you can find the acceptable period for up to 100 lines.

  • Can I search the current way together in a script?

    On my machine, I have a folder full of functions and commands mathscript.  This record starts to become very large, and I wish I could clean it up a bit by combining the files in the subfolders.  For example, I would like to create the following folders;

    C:\MatrixXTools

    C:\MatrixXTools\StringTools

    C:\MatrixXTools\VariableTools

Of course, it would be nice if I had to define the path to each file individually.  What I want to do, is to set my path manually for C:\MatrixXTools and then put a command here called "import".  The 'import' command would be responsible for the research of the current path for a file and then add it to the path when he finds it. So to import the StringTools, I just call

    Import "StringTools.

All my scripts base would go into C:/MatrixXTools and then if a script is required to use the StringTools, I could just call import feature.

The problem I have is that I can't find a command that turn the path into a string vector.  Is it possible to do?  'SHOW the WAY' is not what I want it because it is just to show the way and does not give me a way of viewing by program.

Is there a better method to get all subfolders together?

I realize that I could also do this by using the startup script, but I (svn) version control tools so that other people can use them - I don't want to have to return everyone to change their startup script every time I do a new folder - I should be able to do this in scripts.

Note: we are still on v62.2 and we are looking in the options of upgrade.

You can get the path to show output in a string using = operator.

    [showPathStr,] = show the path;

You can break down the showPathStr on the new line characters

in a vector of string using the split function.

The split function has been added in MATRIXx 7.1.9. The Division operates internally

uses index and stringex functions to create the split string vector.

    showPathVector = split ("" n", showPathStr);

If you try the split function and look at the algorithm that you need to

Download and eval MATRIXx 7.1.9, or higher.

Also, instead of change startup.ms each time you add a tools directory, why can't not

have startup.ms run another script (i.e. execute file = toolsetup.ms) and you

update only toolsetup.ms when you add a new directory of tools.

With the LabVIEW MathScript node, the blue rectangular region, you
can run scripts from files ".m" of your graph (known as LabVIEW programs
virtual instruments or screw). You can use the MathScript node

to insert text algorithms in a VI and then use the LabVIEW
environment of graphical programming to instrument the scripts by adding

    Hi johndoe.

Thank you for contacting National instruments.

I would like to highlight a number of items which you may find useful for the implementation of an if-else statement in a MathScript node.  The first is a book white tutorial, which the second part explains how to use LabVIEW MathScript node. The second is an article describing the required syntax to write functions and scripts in the MathScript node, including instructions for the use of the If-Else statements.

I hope that these help. Please let me know if you need additional assistance.

  • Create an executable by mathscript or from the Windows command window

    Hello

I have a lot of screws that must be built into executables. So, I think to write a script to save time.

Windows MathScript looks a lot like the command window in MATLAB, so I wonder if there is a way to create executable files using mathscript?

Or is it possible to build from the windows command window?

Thanks for your reply and have a nice day.

    Kind regards

    Yan

You can use the tools in the palette of constructor calls write a LabVIEW program to automate the construction of applications.

(Somehow I don't understand not what you want. Building is usually negligible compared to write the program or the configuration of the build).

  • updated 2009 LabVIEW Mathscript

    Hello

I developed an application in LabVIEW 8.6 who
contains a large MathScript node. It's time to upgrade to LabVIEW 2009
and I am facing problems in that. I have the Mathscript RT Module
installed and enabled on my computer.

    I want to emphasize that
the application works perfectly at 8.6. After the first performance in
    version 2009, I got 2 errors:

    -90031: "unknown output."
variable. The variable is a string. He showed up in a red dot
(see photo). I've never seen this before red dot...

    another
error in another node:-20104: input parameter have at least a NaN
element. What is an element of NaN? This error occurs in a line that looks like
    as A = median (B) where B is a vector line.

    also in this second
node, I have a lot of output shown in the red dots, the string variables
outputs and some double precision as well.

    What
are the requirements to upgrade to LabVIEW 2009, insofar the MathScript
is concerned? There are issues to be addressed? major changes, I should
    Be aware of?

    Thank you very much

    Sam

    Hi Sam,

You can define variables by their wiring as inputs or by setting them in the script of the node.

If your solution is still available in 2009. In fact, this looks like the right solution to get the behavior you're looking. I think that the reason that it does not work is that there is still some output variables that need to have your solution that are applied to them. These output variables are currently not be wired in the shift registers MathScript node and are only defined in the case of statements which are false, when your code is running. So, if wire you these variables in the MathScript node, the errors should go away and you will not see the default values.

Initialization of variables in the upper part of the MathScript is another way to get rid of the error. However, it seems that this is not the best solution in your case because you want the variables to receive the same value they had at a previous time, that run MathScript node. The best way to do is with registered SHIFT wired as inputs to the node.

The reason for this change in behavior between 8.6 and 2009 is indeed to help users find bugs or logical errors with their code. The new behavior makes it less likely that downstream from the MathScript node code tries to use an output that has an invalid value (by default).

I hope that this explanation makes things a little clearer.

    Thank you

  • Suggestions for the MathScript Interactive window

    Hello world

I just discovered LabView MathScript. It was a nice surprise as I am

a used Matlab enthusiast. The interactive window is a great idea, however

    I miss a view things:

    (1) syntax Higlighting in the window "Script." It works in the MathScript node

but for some strange reason, not in the interactive window.

    (2) line numbers in the "Script" window

    (3) the "F9" of Matlab function. If you mark a piece of code in Matlab and

Press "F9" code is executed. Very useful for debugging.

I just hope that someone from the MathScript developers is reading this.

    Thank you

    Ulf

    Hello

Yes, we read we appreciate suggestions.  Numbers of syntax and the syntax line are features we know and we hope to add in a future version.  I was not aware of the F9 function, but we will consider it as well.

  • Missing MathScript

    Hello group,

I have already installed labview 8.6 OR-DAQmx 8.6 and OR vision acquisition 8.6.1 on several computers and works very well.  However, currently (on a recently restructured computer) I installed all this software, but for some reason, it didn't mathscript.  When I opened an example, it shows the mathscript node, but I can't change it, and it is not in the functions math (However, the script node and matlab script is... (See attached image).   Moreover, the explicit function of signal block is empty.

I tried to use repair to fix, but it changed nothing.

I'm currently reinstalling, but I wonder if anyone knows why this would happen?

    Thank you

    Veritas

    Hello veritas,.

It seems that you did not activate LabVIEW successfully on this computer.  This behavior is expected when the MathScript license is not activated.  To check your licenses and activate if necessary, launch Manager licenses OR programs > National Instruments.  Under the section of LabVIEW 8.6, check that the Professional (or Full) development with MathScript system is activated.  If this isn't the case, you want to activate this license of use MathScript.

The MathScript node does not appear in the palette of Script nodes.  It will be in programming > palette Structures and mathematics > palette Scripts & forms.

    Chuck

    Hello Chuck,

This error indicates there is something in your script that LabVIEW MathScript did not understand.  As such, it depends on the script that you typed.  Is it possible to attach your script?  If this isn't the case, you can try a binary search with your script.  Remove half of your script.  If the problem persists, the culprit is in the half top.  Remove half of the upper part of the half and reaffirm.  If this isn't the case, it is at the bottom half.  Add in half of the text you removed and try again.  After you have identified where the problem occurs, you can try to simply the script by removing other lines that are not necessary to run the problem line.  If then you can put what you have, I can investigate on what is wrong.

It is possible that comes to mind if you perform a replacement of indexation of the following form:
    [(m, n) vs s] =
In other words, one of the values of multiple return putting inside another matrix.  A solution for this is to do the following:
    [s] = so.
    vs (m, n) = a;

  • Orders of MathScript

HI all, I'm quite new to LabVIEW MathScript and have had trouble with the help of the command 'load' in the window MathScript to load the data want to sort the data in each column (4 in total) in a data file. I can do this in Matlab, simply by using the following commands:

    x = dlmread ('c:\work\plotdata\plotdata',' ');

    sortx = draw (x);

Now the problem I'm having is that when I try to read all the data in my data file in MathScript using the dlmread command, I get the error ' error in the function dlmread in line 1. This function is not defined for the number of parameters you provided. "Using the command 'charge' produces the same error. Each columns are separated from each other by 2 spaces - which is what I've specified as above. Please advise on the appropriate method.

Then, I am trying to sort the data in the columns and am unable to do in mathScript. I have attached a picture of the data file that I am trying to sort. Note that the image data has not yet been resolved. For the guidance of the guru...

    Hello

I tried to create a file of test like yours and dlmread can read the data successfully in LabVIEW 8.6. I think your problem is that the file name is not correct. By default, dlmread will read the data of the .dlm file if you do not specify the file extension. As a result, your script should read 'c:\work\plotdata\plotdata.dlm '. You can specify the full name of the file including the file extension or rename your data to .dlm file.

For sortx = (x), if the input x is a matrix, MathScript returns the sortx columns in ascending order. This must be what you expected.

    Would you please try again?

  • Chemometrics - Non-linear Iterative Partial Least Squares, MathScript and G-Native Code

I worked with a client on a spectroscopy system and he asks me to do the analysis in components in the application I'm building for him. The current method, I found is what several people have built with MatLab scripts for least partial square. That's great and it works; However, I wanted to convert the native GCode script because I'm that guy.

After a few days, I was finally able to get the results of the two screws is similar, but not the same thing. I was not able to find an explanation for it on the forums or elsewhere. The important thing I found is that LabVIEW breaks a little when you have a vector calculation as a ' * a, which should translate into a scalar value or a 1 x 1 matrix. When you use this value in another equation, such as the projection X'* a /(a'*a), LabVIEW works only on the first element of X'* a.

Here, it's in the GCode with the work around to correct one ' * a result:

It seems unusual that GCode treat a scalar result incorrectly. It was annoying, but I was able to go beyond that.

My next question is there is some apparent rounded differences between GCode and MathScript that I was not able to explain. This difference amounts to about 1% in the data I have to analyze. I've included the project where I worked to compare the two methods. In the NIPALS_Conversion_LV.vi the left side of the block diagram has a loop structure For which is where the model is generated using the NIPALS and the right side is the application of the model. The NIPALS_Converison.vi contains the original code of MathScript where I worked with.

Note that the difference between the two results is due to the calculation of you and matrices of B, which are related to each other because of the u. I probed the two vi extensively and everything is equal between them until the calculation of the elements in u. The equation in question is u = Y * ((Y'*t1) / |) (Y'* t1) |), even if it is expressed somewhat differently in the code.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Drew

    Drew,

I took a quick glance to your project and for me, it seems that you have correctly translated the MathScript in its equivalent in the graphical representation.

My first inclination on why you see this slight rounding error, is that the functions used in LabVIEW and MathScript can be different (from different DLLs). How these functions given floating point rounding may be different and spreading them error thanks to each iteration of the loop. I suspect that you notice that the error at this time in the program. If you compare every step of the script from the execution of LabVIEW and look out past 10 or if the bits of accuracy, I think you will see this error increase slightly after each step.

If you can find a specific function during which a significant difference between the script and LabVIEW execution occurs, I'd be happy to review the functions and the differences between the LabVIEW MathScript implementations of functions.

  • Running MatLab script

    Hi guys!

I use TestStand to connect a bunch of data and save them as binary files. When the test is finished, I would like to start a matlab script. For the moment I do it manually, just open MatLab and change the path used by the script to find the particular set of binaries to test.

What I understand you can use MathScript with the basic package.

I requires nothing more of Matlab open / running a script in the background at a time given in the test. Could it be done by using a system call and just passing the path as a parameter to a LabView VI?

Any IDE for what is the best approach?

    Thank you for your time!

Ah, I understand now. Yes, the basic edition doesn't have the Matlab script node. In this case, you can use Exec System to simply call the Matlab command line. Matlab documentation contains various switches to it.
