Maybe it's to rewrite the BIOS with crisis recovery mode?

Hey everybody,

my laptop 'freezes' during BIOS 'PHOENIX' updated 2 years ago.
SERVICE told to change the motherboard, the price as new pc, so I bought new laptop.

I keep looking at the toshiba forum always, so I read a lot of information on the MODE of RECOVERY from CRISIS.
so I tried to check my laptop died after 2 years.

My satellite M100 starts in crisis recovery mode Fn + B.
my laptop starts up to CRISIS MODE, but do not read the USB STICK
I did the flash with the CRISDISK 1.0.0.4 USB key program, but I'm not sure I did it way right!

My question is:
is it really possible to REWRITE the bios with crisis recovery mode, where I can read more information on how to do it.

I want back my M100 :)))

Hey,.

As Akuma writes that you should try a USB FDD instead a USB key. Key USB is supported only on new models of laptops, but as far as I know USB FDD will be always supported.

In any case, just for your information: you should know what you're doing. It is a delicate and risky procedure and in the worst cases you might destroy the whole ROM module but if you already have a new laptop I think that it s a problem for you. ;)

    Hello
I activated a supervisor for 1.50 acpi BIOS password.

Since then, I am not able to change the settings (for example etc. - the right of the screen of the BIOS boot order does no more).
I access the bios with pressing ESC on the boot process, then F1 when prompted "" check system, then press [F1] key. Problem is that I don't ask the supervisor password.
There should be a prompt for the supervisor password, but it's not. So I am not able to connect as a supervisor.
I know I can manually change the boot sequence by pressing F12 during startup, but this strict solve my problem.

Have you tried to update the BIOS? On the Toshiba site, I can find a newer version that you have right now. Check it!

Before setting a supervisor password load default settings in the BIOS and then you can set the password and try again. Maybe it works.

  • What is a cheapest Toshiba laptop with PXE in the Bios with the XP support

I am a reseller of Toshiba.
A client asked me this question, and I was hoping someone here could help me answer:

    > What is the cheapest Toshiba laptop which has PXE in the bios with XPP?

Customer is downgraded to XPP, looking for a low cost which will always start LAN laptop. Good that now they buy the L300 and indicated they are not PXE bios. Any ideas to what series of portable Tosh they must migrate?

    Thank you
    -Alan

    Hello

PXE means that you might be able to boot from a local network.
AFAIK all laptop Toshiba supports this option.

But most laptops are pre-installed with Win Vista and delivered with Win Vista.
Some professional laptops come with a second disc that allows to downgrade the laptop to Win XP.
But these professional laptops are not cheap.

The last time I fixed it by the BIOS update (newer) 1.70 this time I can't reflash BIOS since it's flash-based window and it verifies that I have 1.70. I reinstalled the latest drivers and software for all. I have searche too many old BIOS files if someone older mind Sending via 1.60, 1.50, for this computer would be nice greatrly it is M40 (PSM40E), it is the model with the video card Nvidia 6600.
Or any idea how can I reflash 1.70 again?

    Thank you, Daniel

    Hello!

Flashing the BIOS with an equal or older version is not possible. Therefore, you must go to an authorized service provider.
Technicians can relfash with a same or older version.

If you don't know where is the nearest ASP you should look on the Toshiba site. There you can search for it.

Is it possible to update the BIOS with 10 Windows installed on E531?

    I don't see W7, W8, and XP

Yet once, have solved this problem, I thought I would share with others who may have the same or similar issues.

I was able to update the BIOS on my Windows 10 install with upgrade download BIOS in Windows 8. Simply install as you normally would, and be patient for the machine to install. Installation BIOS itself is a little funky; I saw the screen go completely white for a while without message about progress or anything like that. But ultimately it ends and works well.

  • Enter the BIOS with the F2 key at startup impossible

I shut down the computer and then hit the power button and keep tapping the "F2" key, I see the text "setup F2" on the bottom right display and highlighted when I press the f2 key, but it continues to boot from the hard drive. I tried the F12 key and have the same problem.

Now, I removed the hard drive and it will not even enter the bios menu.
    Am I missing something?

I flashed the bios to version A04 and I still have the same problem when starting.

Hello there is a problem with this laptop, the work of keyboard in the bios and in safe mode and during my convalescence... but it does not work in normal mode. (F12 wifi light is white)

    Thank you very much

    model: 15-r203nv rev: 2213-120 products: L0E81EA #AB7

    Hello

The fact that it does not work with a clean install starts to point to some kind of hardware problem, although it is strange that he will run in Mode without failure.

Click with the right button on the taskbar, select Manager tasks, click the Startup tab - right click on each entry in turn and select Disable.  Once completed, restart the computer and see if there is no change.

An update of the bios (F.39 Rev.A) is also available on the Product Page , which can be useful if you have not already done it - if you decide to apply, make sure you unplug all the devices (including the usb keyboard) before starting the update.

    Kind regards

  • recover data after the update results in recovery mode

Hello! I feel absolutely terrible and any help would be greatly appreciated. I have an old IPhone 4S that has been put into market and on himself. One of my friends told me to go to IoS9. Terrible mistake because it made my phone goes into recovery mode.

I never did all backups on Icloud and on ITunes. Worse still, I never had ITunes in my life. (I am kind new to smartphones, this IPhone was given just for me)

A friend of a friend has offered to help and I gave her my IPhone for a little more than 10 minutes. He has a Mac and said he could do something (legal or not, I have no idea). But then I realized that there are things really private in my IPhone that I would not want anyone other than me to see. So I asked him to stop whatever he was doing. The phone is still on the recovery mode when I got back, he had the phone for about 10-15 minutes, and I never gave him the passwords. My question is simple: would he able to access my data in any ways if he wanted to?

I went to an Apple store and a saleswoman told me that there was no way he could have access to what in my phone as the phone was completely blocked / blocking. And then I'm going home and read things like Wondershare, on ways to get data without passwords and I completely panick on everything.  You have to be a complete genius this information?

I guess I just need to be reassured. Thanks to you all.

PS: I'm not English, I hope I have made myself understandable!

If the phone goes into recovery mode, restore only on a new version of the iOS will be bring back to life.

The password for the lock screen can't be changed if restore you to a computer that was used to put in place or to sync the phone in the past. Other computers cannot access the data on the phone, he's going to be wiped out during the installation procedure. If you never connected to a computer, the first time that you try to synchronize, the phone will be erased, over, synchronization, it will take the password of the lock screen to display on the phone.

  • No option of virtualization in the BIOS with the Portege R500

    Hello

Thought I'd post a new thread as the old man seems to be dead...

I just want to know if someone has been able to use an extensions of virtualization Portege R500 processor, Linux, Windows or any other OS. I guess that this will become a requirement of mainstream with windows 7 now out.

If you have been able to use it, could you please put your laptop model correct (it should be on a sticker on the bottom)

This was my original post, showing that the CPU must support her:

I HAV a Portege R500 (or a model equivalent, bought the Japan), v BIOS 1.60 and everytime I try to use applications that supports virtualization extensions, I can't. I use linux as my OS, and he tells me that the virtualization extensions have been disabled by the BIOS.

However, I can't find an option for this in the BIOS! R500 manual (form available from the toshiba support area), there should be an option, just after "core multi processing", I can see:

    Virtualization technology
Sets of virtualization technologies enable or disable the Intel Virtualization
    Technology installed in the processor.
Virtualization technology Intel is the technique that allows a machine to
operated under the name of multiple virtual machines.
Virtualization technology is compatible with some models.
The disabled command does not use the Intel Virtualization
    Technology.
The use of Intel Virtualization Technology Enabled command.
    Virtualization technology allows.
    Activated
    Disables (default) virtualization technology.
    People with disabilities

    But it isn't here!

In addition, I see that virtualization is supported by the processor - the 'vmx' flag is present. The processor is model U7600, it should be supported. You can see from the Intel Web site:

    http://processorfinder.Intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLV3W

Anyone know if it is available through he windows BIOS app (although it is not documented in the manual)? Anyone know if it is possible to contact Toshiba and ask them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Are you sure there is NO virtualization option in the BIOS?
Have you checked all the pages?

I found your other thread on the clearing of password and you said this doesn t work, but maybe it works you need to check the VT option yet!

More as you say, the processor must support the VT to VT option in the BIOS the Intel Core 2 Duo processor ULV U7600 support VT

As far as I know there are also a few sets of cell phones where the VT option is not available in the BIOS, but if the processor takes in charge the VT VT is enabled by default as well as the VT option is not present in the BIOS.

  • Cannot, enter the BIOS with the F1 key.

    Hello

I tried to install Mac OS X recently (10.7 Lion on Chameleon 2.1 RC1 16xx with iCloud patch), and the installer crashed. Now when I boot my ThinkPad I press ENTER to display the boot options. When I click on F1 or F12 ThinkPad not responding when I press enter or ESC, it will do what it must do.

I've got "CMOS reset" error after restarting after the failure of the attempt to install Mac OS X. I know that sometimes, Mac is reset CMOS (I have a PC with Mac and it works well).

I can boot Windows 7, but I can't the configuration of the BIOS.

I had the supervisor password (I remember ), maybe that's the problem.

  • update the BIOS with Win 7

Hello everyone, it has been a while. I had some problems with my SR5505F, I run Memtest + 86 on a barrette of RAM (2x2gb) both, but first wanted to check/upgrade the BIOS in case that was the problem, problem is, I upgraded the OS from Vista to Windows 7, and the BIOS for this model only offer the choice for Vista 32 and Vista 64 What should I do, my last update of the BIOS shows 2008. Thanks for any help.

    Yes, I wouldn't risk.

You can always make a system image to install W7 using W7 backup tool, reinstall Vista, Flash the BIOS and reinstall W7 from your image backup. You will need to do a W7 boot CD or use your installation disk of W7 and instead of the installation option, select repair your computer option at the bottom left of the installation screen.  Then select restore from an image system or what is the closest that verbage thing.

    No vista installation media?

You can do it yourself.  See below... beginning on page 289.

  • Portege Z930: The update of the BIOS with LINUX/UNIX OS

    Hello.

I manage a COMPUTER company, and some of our facilities are portege z930.

We use Linux as main OS, and in order to use all the disk space, we erased the Windows partition.

How can I update the BIOS of a Linux operating system? I asked a support company official technichal, and they told me that they use a special live linux CD managed by Toshiba.

I don't know if I can get this cd somehow live. If this isn't the case, I would like to know how to upgrade our Bios without having to reinstall the Windows operating system.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know on the download page of the BIOS that Toshiba offers the Windows version only. Of way General Linux is not supported.
Try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Maybe they can get this special CD.

By the way: why you didn t prepared machine (BIOS update) before starting to install Linux?

    Hello

I have just taken delivery of a R500 with installed Xubuntu.

I need to get into the BIOS to change some settings. I know the supervisor password and I know that normall pressed ESC, then press F1 to enter BIOS. Unfortunately, I don't get the opportunity to enter the supervisor password - it just directly puts me in the "User" settings

I also have problems to get the F12 boot device settings to work.

The manual suggests that I use the utility Configuration of Windows to address some of the bIOS settings, however - I am not Windows...

    Any thoughts?

Weird is... as far as I know you have had installed to access some bios options longer windows.

The problem is that there is no other software then this utility in windows and the common module that can access the hardwarelayer.

So, if you want to change something, you need to use windows... :/

    Welcome them

Tip: you can use another HARD disk where you install Windows. Perhaps a good way to keep ubuntu on HDD
