  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

  You can also change your search preferences by changing the provider search engine to your search bar - what will change the home page search bar and the search engine used in your address bar when you enter a query instead of a web address.   This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows.   The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.
