MCAFEE VS. NORTON 360 TO PROTECT THE VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM

I have a Qosimio Toshiba computer and it came with trend Anitvirus software for the first year. I have the Vista operating system. I want to either update Mcafee or Norton 360. What is the best for my computer and do I uninstall the antivirus software of original Trend before or after the installation of the new software, and how do I do?

Hello

Frankly, I would not use all three, and never you have on the machine now that you must
Delete (so you have only a major antivirus on the system) do not forget to use the removal of their creator tools
or anyone who can leave problems using scraps.

Download replacements, but do not install until after the removal of those present and restart.

For any need to use this method:

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN

Here's what I use and recommend: (all are free and offer exceptional protection)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

Prevx - Home - free

Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.
http://www.prevx.com/   <-->
http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp  <-->

PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

I hope this helps.

    Hello

There are a few things that you would have to do to install XP instead of Vista:

    1. contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if the XP drivers are available for your computer model to make sure that XP has worked properly in this regard.

    2. If the XP Drivers are available, buy a XP disk operating system / license. Try local computer repair shops because Microsoft sells more than XP and online sale buy you pirated copies can cause. Be very careful.

3 XP runs with 512 MB of RAM, although a little slow by today's standards.

    4. do a clean install of XP. Make sure that all your data is backed up as the hard will be cleaned of everything during the Installation of XP.

If you did an upgrade and not a clean install, they must remain on your drive. Do a search of *.jpg, *.jpeg and see what you get. If I remember correctly, you will have a folder windows.old that they appear in. You can use Windows Explorer if you want to look in your records in the Windows.Old directory.

  • Satellite Pro A300: How to recover the Vista operating system

My friend has a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 it has a 4 GB of ram, but on Windows Xp shows only 3 GB
I also want to put in place the back of the Vista, but I can't not insatall any operating system (only the Toshiba Xp dvd)
(there is a HDD recovery folder on the C drive, I think it is the Vista that he owned before but a don't know how to install it)

Ok. If the folder in HARD drive recovery then it should be possible to carry out a procedure for HARD drive recovery, remain on the second partition.

First of all, start Notepad and press F8 immediately after that the laptop has been powered. Then choose the first option called fix my computer.
A new window should open, and you should choose the last option called Toshiba HDD Recovery.
Then follow the instructions on the screen.

This should usually works if the folder of HARD disk recovery and partition has not changed or deleted.

Check it out if it does not, you will need to order a Vista of Toshiba Recovery DVD:

  • I bought a view with the vista operating system model - however I got a bluescreen etc. and I need to reinstall VISTA

However, as it's an exdisplay I don't have books or CDs and do not have a backup disk.  How can I fix my blue screen?  When I can not open in Safe Mode, I clearly need a VISTA installation disc but how can I get on these without having to buy AGAIN

    Hello tamster2708,

Whatever your machine a display model of the manufacturer "must" give you an option to restore your PC to factory conditions. This is done in two ways. (1) a Windows DVD is provided. (2) the operating system is on a hidden partition on the hard drive of the system. Chances are yours is this one.

As you have no literature tell you what keys press when to start your machine which will allow you to access the recovery partition, I suggest you to contact the store you purchased your machine from and to ask their technical support how are you suppose to go on the restoration of your machine to factory conditions.

You might alos visit PC manufacturers Web site and look to the top of the brand and the model of your machine, just in case they have a downloadable guide. If you can download a user guide, browse and search for "restoring your PC back to factory conditions" this will then tell you how to restore program.

If your machine is not a copy of the operating system on a hidden partition then ask the shop how you are going to get an OS DVD, ensuring that you point out that 'they' should have provided a way for you to restore your system should any problems arise.

  • Problem installation Vista updated and now the Vista operating system unbootable - help

Here it is the description of what has past.  Ive been through everything I can do and am now stuck with a code of 0 X 4001100200001005.

I worked with Microsoft Vista forum group of answers, but I'm not back upward and running if Im going back to HP for assistance.  I hope that we can achieve together.  This all started when started Vista updates failing.  I got the 1 3 install stuck on the 2nd about three weeks ago.

Here is a list of what I've done so far
I have an old HP DV9410us for a year which will not restart after installing updates.  It comes to configuring updates step 1 from 3 to about 98% and then stops.

It then says unable to start windows and start the repair program windows for about 5-10 minutes.  He said that you want to use the system restore.  I tell Yah Why Not.  Then, it will stop and start the cycle.

The error in the Startup Repair States the following

After a bunch of tests successful

    Root cause found:

    c:\ntoskrnl.exe is corrupted.

    Repari Action: Repair of files
Result: failed.  Error code = 0xa
    Duration 6521ms

    Action repair system restore
    Result: Completed successfully

He then returns to the cycle all over again.

I turned the clock to October with F10 at startup but that did nothing.

I checked the hard drive for the short and complete and checked everything.

I dug my recovery disks I did ago about 10 months after I bought and used to return to the top of my hardrive.  I was all ready for a MAC at this point.

I went back to the HP Recovery program and tried to restore an earlier version of a well-known operating system.  The Manager of recovery disk wont work so I used the Recovery Manager disk.  There is no old configs to this true its in step 2.

I'm now trying to perform a factory image recovery.
Reload the operating system.  It started and got to 13% after 20 minutes and gave me the following error code.

During this process, I have an error that had the code 0 x 4001100200001005.

It is the reformatting of repeat of the Windows Partition.

Is this a Vista update problem?  Have you seen this before?

I'm doing a factory restore and will let you know if this operation fails.  I just wanted to get this thread started.

I really appreciate this forum and any help you could give me.

If you had an error in "configuration update 1 3-3 3 ' which would be a problem with windows update.

to fix this, you'll need a factory image recovery if you can not access other modes for windows. But youy mentioned that you had a 0xx000x... (similar to code) error... try checking the hard drive and memory modules health... threr could be a problem with these devices, you can access it through the bios settings (turning on laptop, the moment you see hp invent screen, press f10) go to the diagnostics section, run the memory test and that hard drive test

very probably with the error you have, you might have a hard drive problem.

most of my clients (I am a specialist of the laptop of beak) with that problem and stuck on a boot loop or may not switch from windows, 95% of them had a hard drive failure.
