Measure Performance

Hello everyone.

Recently, I tried to optimize my application as it can consume about 50% of the processor when it runs. One of the things that my program is to display data on a set of indicators and other controls. I noticed that when there was no data (everything was zero), there was virtually no load on the processor. But when there was data, he sky has skyrocketed.

I've disabled the things one by one and reduced to my render loop. This loop does for data on two queues and updates a cluster that is connected to a control to display. Disabling this while loop data were caused the CPU load to almost nothing.

I wonder if there is something I can do to improve the performance of template controls I use. I enclose you a version of the loop that displays the gauges. If anyone has any information, it would be great!

(1) the pressure gauges are too break-in so refreshing is complex. See this too lecheuse tag

(2) Throotle save your updates. If these queues are back given most often 10 - 30 times per second, are you abusing the updates of the screen.

(3) use different FP updates set to true before the updates of the screen, and false after updates.

If not help above there was an old thread where we used an image control to render the public Service and avoid the excessive burden of running-in, but that is another bag of worms that we achieve if we are still fishing the latter.

    There are benefits to the use of extensions like either. the queues by the data store and so on.

    However, there is also a complexity of management and a risk in terms of availability that the metadata is stored on the first logic unit number and if you lose the first logic unit number you lose the entire data store.

    to vSphere5, I see the extensions use case to be very little and prefer the only measure of storage of data...

  • Performance - GRE over IPSec or without free WILL

    Looking at the configuration of a VPN L2L tunnel between two sites for voice only traffic.  Ask yourself if the configuration of GRE to the IPSec VPN tunnel would add a charge to the performace of the vs configuration voice traffic just an IPSec VPN tunnel?

    You wanted to set up a WILL for future where we might want to add several tunnels and enable EIGRP routing.

    Please any advice would help.

    Karim,

    First GRE (oIPsec) is not the only option. You also VTI, which does not add the GRE overhead and can run on top routing protocols.

    In terms of raw processing, yes GRE encapsulation is indeed a new step on the way, but most platform today are able to handle this in CEF (or similar) or in the material (usually with some limitations) as on 6500 etc..

    Purely for the voice there should be no impact on the performance (also depends on how you measure performance) since fresh added generals will not change much for audio real, no added encapsultation will add a lot of delay.

    However, there are other things to consider (like how to install QoS is not to present the jitter).

    I own a laptop Satellite P100 - 10 p.

    My question is:
    How this notebook gigaflops can produce (not in the normal conditions of use, but technically)?

    Hello

    First of all, that you won't find here Toshiba technicians but simply, common users of Toshiba laptops. This is a user forum!

    With regard to your question;
    Why you n t use a reference application for measuring performance in floating point.
    Perhaps a benchmark in LINPACK 64-bit app might help. I am writing could help because I never used and tested the program. ;)

    But this program was written for the Linux operating system. It seems that you won't be able to run it on a Win OS.

  • BER in the power spectrum

    Hello

    I have a question about BER and SNR and I would appreciate your help.

    I have a power Spectrum (live with the presence of interference) and I would like to know in what parts of the spectrum, I can achieve a target BER (lets say 10th-3)

    My suggestion was to first determine the signal investment ratio on the graph (for BPSK) and then search for available positions in the spectrum that can give me this SNR

    So say for 10-3 BER, en No. DB 9 (on the graph)

    If Eb (dB) = 9 (dB) + No. (dB) or Eb (dBm) = 39 (dBm) + No. (dBm)

    now my questions are?

    1 - instead of BER can I focus on NRS and are my calculations correct?

    2-noise background in my power spectrum is observed from BDP-110-130 dBm is not a value constant .what should I do in this situation to find Eb?

    3. What about interference? because WLAN is perhaps the received power - 50dBm in this situation that the SNR appropriate therefore to achieve this BER?

    is it correct to say Eb should be = - 50 + 39 (dBm)

    I thik find positions them avaiable in the spectrum (especially 2.4 GHz) to achieve a certain BER or SNR should not be as easy as I think.

    Hi tintin99, the calculation seems to me.

    For the second question, I don't know what application you are considering, so it is difficult to answer. If you measure performance to highlight, I'd go for the peak noise. To help us to give an exact answer, you provide more information about your application. For example, NEITHER-6115. The following link will be useful: NOR-6115 noise floor.

    In case you're only interested in theoretically calculate the background noise, please check for the radio receiver noise floor. According to the definition, you can calculate the background noise as follows:

    Background noise =-174 + NF + 10 log bandwidth

    Where NF is the noise figure.

    I hope my answers help. Still once, for questions related to the concepts of communications, please try discussion forum, I mentioned above. RF meter of NOR, please post to measure RF devices

  • Re: Missing Bluetooth | HP ENVY 15-j026tx | Windows 8.1

    Pouf! No Bluetooth! Here yesterday, has become today!

    I'm having the same problem with a laptop Envy 17 T J 100...

    Bluetooth hardware simply disappeared after (I think?) a certain Windows update. Went live with chat support, they invited to uninstall then reinstall the networking and bluetooth drivers, ALL tried and did not get any advantage. The BIOS does not recognize that the radio-transmitter Bluetooth EXISTS in this computer. It was as if a gnome came to my house in the middle of the night, unscrew the lower part of the thing, has crawled around inside, removed the bluetooth equipment and replaced with a WAD of styrofoam.

    I KNOW it is Bluetooth inside the thing - say the plug; the order sheet confirms that I paid for it; I've used it before. I don't know when it came out, but when I tried to use it yesterday, it wasn't there. My area has had a problem with internet due to a storm, so I thought that I attach my cell phone and its data (via the cell tower) to my laptop for a little bit, see how it goes, but I noticed when I got the phone and the laptop next to each other, WHAT? BLUETOOTH NO MORE? BUT WHY?

    And I'm sure it's an update of Windows and HP incompatibilities, which are the culprits. Nothing yet HP or Windows programmers. It has something to do with the management of energy, maybe. But because I can not ANY software to ADMIT that the material EXISTS, there is no way to force-power for the equipment.

    BLUETOOTH HAS DISAPPEARED. DIFFICULTY PLEASE. Thank you.

  • RV215W Wireless N is too slow

    Hi all

    I recently bought RV215W router and after installing it on my home network. I started to have very slow internet connection by wi - fi. Wired connection to the router properly. After several hours of troubleshooting, I am able to locate the problem internet slow connection Wirelss N. B/g wireless works fine.

    Router uses 1.0.0.16 firmware. I tried to check is there any latest update of firmware for this device. Cannot find any firmware related information in the web site of cisco.

    Another point related to USB WAN; I do not use any USB for the 3G connection. The USB indicator is to keep flashing. It causes an impact?

    Guidance on this matter is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Kalyan

    Hi Claudia, indicating that the wireless-n is very slow isn't very accurate. What you see in the ways of the connected speed? How will you measure performance? What type of computer you are using?

    If you use MAC computers, you can use a type cypher and not AES-TKIP or AES mixed modes. You can also set the band at 40 instead of 20. I also recommend to avoid the use of WMM functionality since it can bog down the works as well.

  • What resources are needed for ODSEE?

    ODSEE 11. I have a small environment, fewer than 100 users with 14 cases of Global multi-mode. I will create a Solaris 11.1 running ODSEE11g and DSCC and try to understand how much CPU / Cores, amount of memory, and the amount of HARD drive space I need. I was not able to find all the references for a configuration example to help me determine what I need to start with. My initial guess was 2 cores, 4 GB of ram and 50 GB of HARD drive. Someone at - there an example I can adapt to my environment?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Matt, the world is so small... that sometimes funny things ;-)

    The only 'problem' when dealing with deployments around the world is usually the network 'latency' between two sites "geographically dispersed", that can cause slowdowns of the replication protocol, but if the content of the directory server is essentially static (in the sense that you don't need to update frequently), you should be good.

    BTW, if you have a load very soft AUTH (and you can find these numbers by analyzing the daily logs of current systems), then "couture" another area small area or a LDOM on the T4s shouldn't be a big problem. There are also tools in DSRK (part of ODSEE) that allow you to build/simulate a workload to measure performance.

    Thank you

    Marco

  • Menu ' # ' does not not in Dreamweaver

    Hello

    I'm writing a menu in DW and I think I have run except for one thing.  I'm basically copy and paste from another project that someone else in our Department did.  Below is the code I'm in:

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? "> / bom_homepage_doc" > Business Operations Manual < /a > < /li >

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? "> / bom_preface_letter_doc" > < /a > Preface

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? "> / bom_preface_letter_doc" > letter from the Member < /a > < /li >

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? "> / bom_preface_preface_doc" > Preface < /a > < /li >

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? "> / bom_preface_timeline_doc" > timeline < /a > < /li >

    < /ul >

    < /li >

    The direct link of output is less.  Please note that the PREFACE is a ' # ' (link) which is correct because he is simply the menu drop down.  Notice how there is a real link href in there, but somehow, on the output, it passes to the #.  You can see the live final code by looking at the source in the browser, and here is the link:

    http://www.PPI.NOAA.gov/BOM/

    So here's my code:

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? "> / program_evaluation_guide" > welcome < /a > < /li >

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? "> / program_evaluation_guide_introduction" > Introduction < /a >

    < li > < a href = "<?" PHP bloginfo ('siteurl');? > / program_evaluation_guide_reference_5 "> 5. Additional resources < /a > < /li >

    < /ul >

    Note in the REFERENCES I want it to be like the first example above, a "#" that pulls just down the drop down menu.  I fairly well implemented as the first example, where the REFERENCE has the same as href the first link of sup underneath.  Looks like it would work because it is the way in which the first example above is set up, but my result is not the # but navigates to the page of the href instead of #, which is not what I want.  Here is my link:

    So I don't know what I'm doing wrong here.  Does anyone have an idea?

    Hello

    Massive headacke side... I really need to solve this problem – work on the line.

    I'm trying to update a site created by my predecessor offline. I've updated the model used, which created an insane amount of problems, more including fixed like today. When you try to update a single page using the template, the content of overlap. I find myself with 2 headers, footers 2 etc...  I thought it was because all the documents on the site (total 53, not too big) are detached from all models and the name of the editable regions on the documents do not exist, but even trying to match the areas to move the contents to the new regions just made a mess of things. My goal (I hope) is too simply update the site without going through all those contents that overlap. Please help, everybody.

    / * Tips for Elastic layouts
    1. Since the elastic layouts overall size is based on the user's default font size, they are more unpredictable. Used correctly, they are also more accessible for those who need larger fonts given the length of the line remains proportionate.
    2. sizing of the divs in this provision are based on 100% font size in the body element. If you decrease the overall size of the text by using a font size: 80% on the body element or the #container, remember that the complete provision will reduce proportionally. You can increase the widths of the divs to compensate for this.
    3. If the sizing of fonts is changed in different quantities on each div instead of on the overall design (ie: #sidebar1 is a font size of 70% and #mainContent has a font size of 85%), this will change proportionally each of the overall size of divs. You can adjust the base on your final sizing of fonts.

    / * Sidebar1″ tips:
    1 be aware that if you set a value for the font size on this div, the width of the div will be adjusted accordingly.
    2. as we work in ems, it is preferable not to use the filling in the sidebar itself. It will be added to the width for browsers compatible standards creating a real unknown width.

    margin-right: 10px;
    background-color: #066;
    text-decoration: inherit;
    }

    / * MainContent tips:
    1. If you give this div #mainContent a value of different size of the div # sidebar1″, the margins of the #mainContent div will be based on the font size and the width of the div #sidebar1 depend on the size of the font. You can adjust the values of these divs.
    2. the space between the mainContent and sidebar1″ is created with the left on the mainContent div margin regardless of how content div the sidebar1″ contains, the space of the columns will remain. You can remove the left margin if you want the #mainContent div text to fill the space of #sidebar1 when the content of #sidebar1 is complete.
    3. to avoid falling of float, you may have to test to determine the size of the image/approximate maximum element because this provision is based on the calibration of fonts the user combined with the values that you set. However, if the user has their browser game lower than normal font size, less space will be available in the #mainContent div that you see on the test.
    4. in the Internet Explorer conditional comment below, the zoom property is used to give the mainContent "hasLayout". This avoids several specific IE bugs that may occur.

    Make sure you have editable regions in the body of your template set properly before you start it. Also, make sure that you have made a backup copy of your current site (copy the ROOT folder and paste it somewhere on your disk).

    OK - Here's what you need to do:

    0 make a backup of your current website (copy the ROOT folder and paste it somewhere on your disk).

    1. create a new page in your current template (file > New > Site templates > (Site) > (model selection) > Create.) Make sure the checkbox "Update Page when the template is changed" is checked.

    2. thanks to this new page open, open page 1 of 51 pages and copy and paste the contents of each editable area of page 1 in the same area can be changed to your new page.

    3. close page 1.

    4. save the new page with the name of the page of 1 so that the old page 1 is replaced by a new one.

    5. Repeat this operation for all 51 pages.

    Sorry, it's so tedious, but in the end, you will once more a fully controlled model site.

    Moreover, before leaving page 1 and the graphs closing this file, please post here any questions you may have.

  • network throughput

    Does this sound like a problem with ESXi and, if so, any ideas on how to fix it?

    It seems that I'm the slow file transfer rate to my VMs ESXi - 13 MB/s on average.  I'm trying to figure out how to get the best transfer rates.

    My configuration:

    File server with Ubuntu, 6 GB ram, 2.4 ghz double heart, an Areca Raid Controller (1230 w/1 GB of cache) and 8 Seagate 2 TB drives configured as a single Raid 5 volume and two ports bonded ethernet (802.3ab).

    The Dell PowerConnect 2724 switch - gigabit 24 ports with 802.3ab support.

    ESXi server with an i7 920, 12 GB of ddr3 (1600) and 3 Western Digital drives black 1 TB (10 k RPM), Intel Pro/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter.

    My tests:

    Base - how quickly a 700 MB file will transfer to the source file to the destination server.  I know... IOmeter, etc. is best for measuring performance, but please bear with me, since I have not installed IOmeter and I don't know how to use it yet.

    Test 1 - destination is a desktop computer connected to the switch Gigabit, duplex full.  Transfers of files in 10 seconds.  The Office has a network utility that reports an average 65 MB/s transfer rate

    Test 2 - destination is a virtual computer running on the desktop (VMware Fusion).  Transfers of files in 15 seconds.

    test 3 - destination is a virtual computer running on the ESXi server.  Transfers of files in 55 seconds.

    Test 4 - copy (and not move) the file from one folder to another within the VM ESXi.  File copy in 10 seconds.

    Additional notes:

    -ESXi a vmnet0, the two ethernet ports are added, joining a hash based on intellectual property

    -On the file server CPU usage never exceeds 10% on any of the tests

    -J' ran all the tests with Windows 98 and Linux (Ubuntu) virtual machines

    -All the virtual machines have installed the VMware client

    Conclusions:

    It seems that ESXi is misconfigured somehow, because a file 13 MB/s transfer rate seems slow because the file server can feed the same file different destination 5 times faster.  I try to get ESXi use 802.3ab collage for a higher rate, but it seems that I should get more than 13 MB/s even with a port single gigabit.

    What can I achieve the network greater throughput / faster?  That is to say. Make the file copy faster transfer of the file server to one of the ESXi virtual machines?  I have to configure something differently?  I have to install quad gigabit or 10g?  I have to go with iSCSI?  Or is there a configuration item that just needs to be tweaked for better performance?

    Far switches will also, I like the Dell. I think they offer really good features for their prices relatively low. My choice would be to stick to those.

    Thanks and take care.

    LB.

  • Overhead Scout

    Hi guys,.

    I wonder how much overhead you could hope to use Scout when profiling an application.

    The use of the UC Scout reports fo our application based Starling is very high, approximately 94% and I can simply not imagine our DBMS actually requires a lot of time CPU.

    Of course, Starling itself is quite heavy on the CPU, which seems too high, however.

    Does anyone have an idea how much CPU requires enabled telemetry itself? It would be nice to receive an approximate number of how many we can subtract the reported 94%.

    Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Bravo guys!

    If you only use the low general settings (based on telemetry, ActionScript Sampler) and CPU utilization, then Scout operation overhead should be negligible. I guess you have not Stage3D registration enabled if you do, you must disable it to measure performance.

    After having done that, if Scout is showing most of the time spent in ActionScript or rendering, then you can be certain that it's your content that is slow. Any overload that is because of profiling would appear as part of the category 'other '.

    The use of the CPU by Scout is for Flash Player as a whole - if you run your application in the browser, make sure that it isn't any running Flash content, as this will contribute to the CPU. If you see high CPU usage, and most of the time is spent in ActionScript, you can use the ActionScript Panel to see what features are the most expensive. There are a lot of good advice on the forums of Starling on how optimize your content and avoid common pitfalls.

    Also, please make sure you have hardware acceleration enabled - if the Flash was using software rendering, then the performance will be terrible. You can check in the Panel Info Session in Scout - if he uses a software renderer, then you're going to see something in the sense of "Hw_disabled software" in the field Driver 3D.

  • Using the slider for and BULK COLLECT INTO

    Hi all
    in this case we prefer to use the cursor AND the cursor with the LOOSE COLLECTION? The following contains two block this same query where used FOR the slider, the other is using COLLECT LOOSE. The task that is running better given in the existing? How do we measure performance between these two?

    I use the example of HR schema:
    declare
    l_start number;
    BEGIN
    l_start:= DBMS_UTILITY.get_time;
    dbms_lock.sleep(1);
    FOR employee IN (SELECT e.last_name, j.job_title FROM employees e,jobs j
    where e.job_id=j.job_id and  e.job_id LIKE '%CLERK%' AND e.manager_id > 120 ORDER BY e.last_name)
    LOOP
      DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('Name = ' || employee.last_name || ', Job = ' || employee.job_title);
    END LOOP;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line('total time: ' || to_char(DBMS_UTILITY.get_time - l_start) || ' hsecs');
    END;
    /

    declare
    l_start number;
    type rec_type is table of varchar2(20);
    name_rec rec_type;
    job_rec rec_type;
    begin
    l_start:= DBMS_UTILITY.get_time;
    dbms_lock.sleep(1);
    SELECT e.last_name, j.job_title bulk collect into name_rec,job_rec FROM employees e,jobs j
    where e.job_id=j.job_id and  e.job_id LIKE '%CLERK%' AND e.manager_id > 120 ORDER BY e.last_name;
    for j in name_rec.first..name_rec.last loop
      DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('Name = ' || name_rec(j) || ', Job = ' || job_rec(j));
    END LOOP;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line('total time: ' || to_char(DBMS_UTILITY.get_time - l_start) || ' hsecs');
    end;
    /
    In this code, I put a timestamp in each block, but they are useless, since they both launched virtually instantaneous...

    Best regards
    Val

    (1) bulk fired fresh primary use is to reduce the change of context between sql and pl sql engine.
    (2), you should always use LIMIT when it comes with bulk collect, this does not increase the load on the PGA.
    (3) and the ideal number of BOUNDARY lines is 100.

    Also if you really want to compare performance improvements between the two different approaches to sql pl try to use the package of runstats tom Kyte
