Mechanics ' click on ' / 'knocking' sound to the Satellite A60

Hello

Everyone knows this or know what it is?

Every now and then I hear a 'click' from the inside of my laptop... possibly from the back/right of the laptop. It is quite a strong blow/click. It is irregularly... just a simple click.

Any ideas?
Thank you
Sea Star

PS. If anyone is interested, my laptop is current florent since I have done... except for this curious system restore "click on" / "hit."

Hello

Is this just clicking sound if the HARD drive is in use (the HARD drive light flashes)?

2 months ago, I bought the Satellite A60. I felt that the temperature of the CPU becomes very high, I downloaded a program that monitors the CPU-temperatur. Especially during the games JAVA the temp was 78 degrees Celsius. What is the normal temperature, and if the temperature is high, what can I do about it?

    Hi Thuder251,

in my opinion, 78 degrees Celsius is a bit hot for a P4 in a notebook.

The best way is to put the laptop to your dealer or to a Toshiba Service partner.

Go to https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com - Support & downloads, you will find a list of all the European partners in Service.

I would ask him if they can do a stress test and check if the P4 is really hot.

You are guaranteed and therefore this short assessment should be no problem.

  • Can not turn on the Satellite A60

    Hello
I got the Satellite A60 for a long time. The battery is almost dead so I decided to use the AC power adapter to power the computer. When I try to turn it on it Star and stops in a few seconds. He looks dead, even if dc indicator is green and the battery light is orange. I tried to make it work without the battery, but it does the same thing. Sometimes with a lot of patience it lights, but I really don't know what I did different.
Can someone please tell me what is this problem and how to solve?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I think that the battery LED appears orange because the AC adapter is plugged in and the battery charges.
So, I can't give you a good answer why the laptop cannot start correctly, but one thing is very interesting.
No passes for laptop, the start screen of Toshiba which appears at the beginning?

If it is so perhaps there is a hardware failure and the laptop must be verified by ordinary service partner or a technician with experience more as a user like you and me.

But if the laptop can correctly pass the Toshiba start screen so in my view the files on the HARD drive are corrupt or the HARD disk contains bad sectors.

In this case, the only way to solve such a problem is the new reinstallation of the operating system.
I think you should try to boot from the recovery CD Toshiba.

But if the warranty is valid you must contact the ASP for replacement because if you open the Notepad or if you remove the covers you lose the warranty.

As you have already followed the steps for no sound option by default in the Windows sound scheme I suggest you to refer to the steps below and check if changing the values in Registory helps solve the issue.

    (a) open the registry editor.

    Note:

Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. (a) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

    (b) in the registry editor, navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_USERS\. DEFAULT\AppEvents\Schemes

    Create the following value (SZ):

And give it a value of. NONE

    (c) close the registry editor.

    Note:

New user who will now log on to this computer will have the model sounds "No. Sounds" applied.

  • Replacement of the HDD on the Satellite A60

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The old 30 GB Toshiba HDD (MK3025GAS) died. I bought a 60 GB Toshiba HDD (MK602GAX) as a replacement.

My problem is that I can't get the bios to see the new drive and start with it. "For the old disk bios dead says under ' built in HDD = Primary IDE (1F0H/IRQ14). With the new HARD drive it says "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

Using a cd, I installed Ubuntu on the new HARD drive. The ubuntu installation cd sees the new HARD drive and allows me to format it and install Ubuntu. When the installation is complete, and I try to start Ubuntu, nothing happens, and the menu of the Bios still displays "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

If I run Ubuntu from a cd I can 'explorer' 60 GB HARD drive and see all the installed files of Ubuntu. I can't boot the PC from the HARD disk or just to get the BIOS to recognize his presence.

I'm a bit confused and don't know what to do. Ideas anyone?

For me, this looks like a compatibility issue. Unfortunately there is no public document where we can find info on all compatible disks.
To be honest I m really wondering why the new HARD drive is not recognized correctly. Problem, is that you can not force laptop recognize each RAM or HARD drive.

    What to do now?
I put t think some update of the BIOS will help so I m afraid you must get a new or another HDD and test if it works or not.
I presume that this 60 GB HARD disk was not new, right?

  • The disk on the Satellite A60 boot problem

I have a Satellite A60, I thought that the HARD drive was not on.

When you turn on the machine, it goes beyond the POST screen and starts with the startup of Windows XP, I get the blue bars moving and the XP logo then IT just freezes.

Replaced the HARD drive for a brand new, re-installed the OS but I have the exact problem in the same exact spot.

    Any help appreciated

    Hello

If reinstalling the system does not work, you can try to reinstall the BIOS. If not help too, the problem must be hardware related. Your only chance is a service partner, cause then you can't do it yourself.

  • How to disable the clicking sound on the Satellite touchpad

I have a problem with the volume of mouse - whenever I hit the key it's like I'm clicking on the mouse and its very noisey.

How do I turn it off?

    Thank you

    Hello

Usually, the touchpad does not all sounds.
I guess you have a USB mouse and sound appears due to the use of this mouse.

I have no idea what mouse software, it is, but I think you should check the settings within this tool.
Otherwise, you will need to check the control panel-> mouse
There are a few options that are available for the mouse and touchpad.

  • No sound on the Satellite X 200 after installing XP

    Hello!
I installed XP on my Satellite x 200 LC10DC everything works but no sound...

I watched if it is a problem of missing driver but after downloader and test different driver does not work its still...
In my driver manager, I find 2 missing driver, unknown device and PCI device and I don't know how to fix them.

    Could you help me guys?

    Hello

The problem is that you need install Win XP patches before you install the audio driver XP!

Install it first * patch KB888111, KB835221 and * Microsoft Windows and then after new reboot, you need to install the audio driver compatible XP.

After this short intervention, the sound should work very well!

  • Record stereo sound on the Satellite Pro 4600

    Hello everyone and happy NYE!

I am trying to record a stereo sound from an external source on my Satellite Pro 4600.
I read in the manual of the only way to enter the stereo signal from other sources (e.g., external CD player) is through card Station IV as the laptop itself has only monaural audio input jack.
Is it possible to record stereo sound from external source without having to invest in the Station IV card?
Or if not, is there any software that can convert the stereo, mono signal?

Thanks for any help on this matter.

    Matthew.

    Hello

In my opinion you can do this only if you use an external device to the audio transfer stereo. In combination with the right software, you can save, for example, old records and put music in digital format.

  • Annoying click every 20 sec on the Satellite Pro

I'm a regular clatter aprox every 20 seconds from the right rear of my satellite pro, any ideas

    Hello

I would say that this s a HARD drive. What do you think?
On my laptop similar clicks appears when the head of HARD drive is trying to read files and data.

How old is the HARD drive? Maybe it's time to change it? On my second notebook HARD drive died after 4years of use. So be careful and do a backup of your data.
