media center is not AutoSave at the request of programs

What time for media center of regular program does nothing. need to start manually.

Hi Webber,

Thanks for choosing Windows and thank you for providing an opportunity to help you.

According to the description, it seems that you are having problems with the recording in Windows Media Center.

Your show might not have been recorded for various reasons. To check the history of recording to find out why the show could not have been saved, follow these steps:

a: On the start screen, go to TV + movies , clickrecorded tv , click the view in the application and then click on story.

b: To organize the list, click sort by Date sort by status and sort by title .

c: Use the arrows on the screen to scroll through the list. The status for each show is listed next to the title of the following: Recorded, not recorded, Deleted, canceled, Preempted, partial or bad Tuner.

d: For a more detailed explanation on the State of recording the show, click on the title of the show.

Here are the reasons why a show can't save:

  • There was a conflict with another record with a higher priority. You can see more information about priorities earlier in this topic.

  • A tuner was not available when the show had to register.

  • There is no available disk space and no records could be removed to create more space to record. To learn how to delete records, see management of recorded TV shows: frequently asked questions .

  • There are no offers updated Guide for scheduled recording. Make sure that the latest Guide data is downloaded Windows Media Center. For more information, see troubleshooting problems Guide download .

  • Restrictions that were set by the broadcaster or the creator of prohibited content the show being recorded.

  • The show was previously saved. Windows Media Center does not record a show of a series if she has already recorded or deleted in the last eight weeks.

  • You have reached the limit of how many records are kept for a series. Remove the other records for the series or increase the limit of records how can be kept for a series. To learn how to manage your recordings, seemanagement of recorded TV shows: frequently asked questions .

  • The TV station changed the hourly number or channel for a specific network or the show didn't air.

  • There was no TV signal because the channel was not available, the TV signal has been disconnected or the tuner has been disabled.

  • Your computer is turned off or lost power during the time that the show was scheduled to record. Your computer must be on or standby mode, hibernation or Away to record a program successfully.

  • If you have a set - top box, the infrared (IR) cable may have been disconnected, including preventedWindows Media Center from changing the channel to start the recording.

  • Windows Media Center has not worked since the storm (Windows Vista)

I have Windows Vista with Windows Media Center (which I LOVE!) through this huge dish on our House, but we had a big thunderstorm last week. Since then, I have been unable to get most of the channels to watch TV via Windows Media Center. I know that it is not a problem with my antenna because if I choose to watch TV directly through the air and not through Windows Media Center, I receive channels without problem. Any help would be great! (PS, I know almost NOTHING re: computers, so you'll really have to "dummy down" your answers to me). Thank you!

Just a guess here, I don't have a tuner currently in my computer. But is there an option in media center to perform a channel SCAN. On my TV, I had a similar problem and all I had to do was rescan and VIOLA all my channels were back!

    Good luck!

  • Win7 x 64 Media Center will not record unless the interface is open all of a sudden

I use the Media Center to record TV on my Windows7 x 64 box with no problems until two weeks ago.  Then he stopped recording.  On further investigation I found it records when the Media Center window is open, but regular shows will not save if the window is closed.  I removed the media center did a restart and then reinstalled and the problem persists.

Since no one was able to find an answer to this problem I restored the computer with a month of January, Image I created with Acronis True Image and all is well now.

His shame that people at Microsoft could not find an answer.

  • PlayReady in Media Center will not update.

PlayReady in Media Center will not update.  The message is "PlayReady update was incomplete.  "You can watch or save protected content until the update is successful.  All attempts to return the same error.  Netflix also only a black screen shows when you watch a movie.  Live TV works except HBO which is protected against copying.  How can I fix?

    Hi William,.

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

From the problem description, I understand that you have problems with the PlayReady Media Center update on Windows 8 computers. I will certainly help you in this regard.

Try these methods and see if it makes a difference.

    Method 1
Loan will not update if the date is wrong. I suggest you to check if the system date and time is correct.

    Method 2
Temporarily disable your firewall settings and check if you are able to update.
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 3

Open Windows "Services" via the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
With Media Center open and show "the PlayReady update was incomplete. Do you want to retry? "Go to the 'Services' Panel you just opened and scroll all the way up to"Services Windows Media Center Receiver", double-click it, then click on"Stop ".

Navigate to the folder ReadyPlay HIDDEN (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\PlayReady), and then delete the mspr.hds file.

Return to the OPEN & CONTINUES, Media Center and click 'Yes' and 'Next' to the question of the PlayReady update. He should immediately zip past and say update complete & you can watch and record the protected against copying.

Carry out these methods and let us know if you need more assistance. I'll be happy to help you.

  • Windows Media Center does not record the calendar.

Planning to record a program, but sometimes lapsed time up to the point where it does not record. I am running Windows 7 Home. Yes, I checked preferences but which differs only up to 15 minutes max.  I have reinstalled twice already. Why please?

    Hello

    (1) did you make any changes before the show?

    (2) what is the brand and model of the computer?

Windows Media Center records the first home run HD programs or any which TV tuner installed. However, you may need to follow a few rules.

-If you turn off your computer, Windows Media Center does not have a regular program. The computer must be turned on or "standby mode" to record a television show. The computer will not automatically in standby mode if Windows Media Center is open.

-Make sure that you turn off the screen and lower or turn off the sound if you have one at the request of a record in the middle of the night and don't want to be disturbed.

-Your scheduled recording may not save in the following situation: schedule you a recording in Windows Media Center to start in less than ten minutes, close Windows Media Center and put your computer into standby or hibernation mode immediately. Use or one of the following options to save your record programmed:

    a. do not close Windows Media Center before you put your computer on standby or hibernation.
    b. after having programmed a recording, wait a minute before you put the computer in standby or hibernation.

  • Windows Media Center is not in the list of all programs - Vista Home Premium

Hi, I can't find Windows Media Center on my computer - I have Windows Vista Home Premium.

I try to use my TV on my computer. It has a built-in TV Tuner. But I can't find Media Center.

I know when I got the computer last year - it came with something to activate the TV - but I have no internet at this point - so nothing could be done. Since then, I've upgraded to Service Pack 2. All the documentation said that Media Center should be there. I've looked everywhere and Media Center does not appear to be more!

Can you please help - if I don't now how can I access the Media Center.

    Thanks in advance.

    Julie

Thanks for this, before I saw this, I worked on how to solve this problem.

First, I downloaded the cumulative update for Windows Media Center-still nothing.

Then I peeked my Control Panel/Default Programs/Set Program Access and Computer Defaults.

My settings were now on the custom, and default media player - tick on "Enable access to this program" next to Windows Media Center had been removed! (of course by another media program)-I reticked this box and as if by magic, the program appeared in all programs and was now visible to the rest of the computer. "

This setting should make it invisible to the rest of the computer - he of course does not use if it is checked.

(I also found once I ticked the box next to Windows Media Player (who had also disappeared, even if it was marked as a media player by default) - he also appeared in the all programs list- and he had never been there before!) I know because I had to go and insert my link on the desktop to access it.

All sorted - what a huge relief. Just as it takes.

    Hello

For someone to really help him, it is important to give as much information as possible.

You say "my computer XP and Vista" are this one computer dual boot with XP and Vista, or is - the two computers 'single '?

If it happened "yesterday" did you updated anything or whatever installed?

Having only happened yesterday have you tried a "System Restore" to see if this corrects the problem?

What TV card are you using and have you verified that this works correctly?

  • get this pop up message "a necessary component of the Windows Media Center has not started properly. Restart Windows Media Center.

    Original title: Windows Media Center

Whenever I try to add videos (or whatever it is) on my media center it will not add and I get this pop up message "a necessary component of the Windows Media Center has not started properly. Restart Windows Media Center.

And I restart it, but it still gives me the same thing whenever I'll add things. I also have the Extender for my xbox 360 and video flies never show there either. A few moments ago, I got this working with my xbox and everyhting showed, now it gives me fits. Can someone please help

    Try this for me:

    Task Scheduler (Local)-> library of Task Scheduler-> Microsoft-> Windows-> Media Center-> MediaCenterRecoveryTask

If this does not work, try this:

    1. open regedit by clicking on the start menu and type "regedit" in the search box and clicking on the link of the regedit program that opens.

    2. go in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

    3. click on the file --> export and save a copy of this portion of the registry where you can find later if you need IT.

4 Note the values in the column of data to "ProgramFilesDir" and "ProgramFilesDir (x 86(). (If you have only one of those that, don't worry. I think that only users of Windows 64-bit will have both, but I don't know.)

    5. If you have a standard installation of Windows, the right for "ProgramFilesDir" column should read "C:\Program Files" and the right column for "ProgramFilesDir (x 86) ' should read"C:\Program Files (x 86)"." If they are not, try changing them to these values. To do this right click on the name in the left column and selecting Edit. Copy the 'correct' value of this message in the data value field in the box that opens. Click OK , and then do the same for the other (if you have two).

    6. RESTART. It will not work until you restart your computer.

    7. Open Windows Media Center and see if the problem is resolved.

Unfortunately, this is between the owners of content/broadcasters and
Microsoft. There are changes from time to time about what is available, but we
as end users, have no say in what is available at any time. You may want to
at the start of Netflix (there is a free trial version). While doing not part of Media Center.

  • "Windows Media Center is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled"

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition and Windows Media Center gives me an error that reads "Windows Media Center is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled." When I try to install Windows Media Player from the Microsoft website I gives me an error saying I need to download "Update cumulative 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition". Once I have download, I get a different error message indicating that I have to download '.NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.2 SP1' before I can continue with the update for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I download that and received a message that is not a valid Win32 application. I can not understand what is happening or how to fix it. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling, but over the years, I lost track of the product key.  Does anyone know how can I fix? Thank you, in advance.

    Hello

You can refer to the following steps:

    Step 1:

    For fixing of .net framework:

    You can check this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/923100

    Step 2:

You can install the update for windows media center rollup2.

    Here is the link:

  • My Media Center is still broken. The notice of recovery, I have to fix was less useless.

I followed all the instructions given to me to attempt a repair of ehRec.exe. These instructions took the time to follow, but in the end, destroyed my software Windows completely. I have re-installed Windows from the installation disc (which did not include a codec MPEG2.) I got the ffdshow codec, kind of works. However, even after a reinstall complete ehRec.exe is always (occasional) broken, that my media center crashes more than half the time, I try to use it, and almost always regular for registration fails. Is it possible that maybe some Microsoft fix caused the problem? I know by looking at other forums that I am not the only unhappy camper in Media Center.

I am very pleased with the notice I received. The instructions regarding the use of sfc were simply wrong and the instructions on how to fix my problem were probably just fake too. For example, I don't think you can do a repair installation, unless you have an up-to-date installation CD 100%. Certainly, that didn't in my case and left the system in a State that won't start plu. I start to wonder if your procedures have been tested on real systems with older installation CD and upgrades and random failures since the initial installation.

On another thread, kkwriter (a user, no Microsoft technical support) gave me an answer to this problem:

Media center and client .net 4 are not compatible. Remove .net 4 and the media center problems disappear. (Ignore the warning that some programs may break if you remove .net 4 when uninstall you.) Some might, but none that I use.)

There are probably a lot of people with the media center problem. It's too bad Microsoft does one.
