My Media Center is still broken. The notice of recovery, I have to fix was less useless.

I followed all the instructions given to me to attempt a repair of ehRec.exe. These instructions took the time to follow, but in the end, destroyed my software Windows completely. I have re-installed Windows from the installation disc (which did not include a codec MPEG2.) I got the ffdshow codec, kind of works. However, even after a reinstall complete ehRec.exe is always (occasional) broken, that my media center crashes more than half the time, I try to use it, and almost always regular for registration fails. Is it possible that maybe some Microsoft fix caused the problem? I know by looking at other forums that I am not the only unhappy camper in Media Center.

I am very pleased with the notice I received. The instructions regarding the use of sfc were simply wrong and the instructions on how to fix my problem were probably just fake too. For example, I don't think you can do a repair installation, unless you have an up-to-date installation CD 100%. Certainly, that didn't in my case and left the system in a State that won't start plu. I start to wonder if your procedures have been tested on real systems with older installation CD and upgrades and random failures since the initial installation.

On another thread, kkwriter (a user, no Microsoft technical support) gave me an answer to this problem:

Media center and client .net 4 are not compatible. Remove .net 4 and the media center problems disappear. (Ignore the warning that some programs may break if you remove .net 4 when uninstall you.) Some might, but none that I use.)

There are probably a lot of people with the media center problem. It's too bad Microsoft does one.

  • media center trying too watch the TV, but message says no tuner available to satisfy the request cannot figure out how fix tuner worked very well

Media Center does not allow me to watch tv message keeps saying no tuner available to satisfy your request, that I have set up signal again that no change was working fine now not at all

    Hi peace1900,

    • You did it any software or changes to the material on the computer recently?
    • When it was working fine the last time?

    Method 1.
If your computer has installed TV tuner hardware, follow these steps to resolve the error messages so Media Center can use the tuner driver. After each step, Open Media Center and try to view or to set up live TV. Continue following the steps until the error no longer appears and you can watch TV:
    1. If you use a cable of the card and the computer resumes from a standby or standby mode, wait at least 20 seconds before starting any software that uses the tuner, including Windows Media Center.
    2. restart the computer to Resync to Media Center driver:
    a. Click Start.
    b. click on the arrow in the toolbar and then click on restart.
    c. wait that Windows and all startup items load before you open Windows Media Center.
    3. If you have added a new tuner card, make sure that the tuner card is compatible with Windows 7 Premium or Ultimate. Search for certified for Windows 7 on the product packaging or consult the following website to check the compatibility:
Microsoft support: Windows 7 Hardware Compatibility List (in English)
    4. change the Windows Media Center Receiver Service specific to a Local System account account name:
    a. click Start , and then type Administrative Tools in the start search box. Click on administrative tools in the search results.
    b. double-click on Services .
    c.
scroll to the bottom of the list of Services and find Windows Media Center Receiver Service . You may need to expand the name column by dragging the right side of the column heading.
    d. right-click on Windows Media Center Receiver Service and then click Properties .
    e.
click the Connection tab , and then select the Local System account .
    f. click apply and then click OK in the message Services.
    g. restart the computer.
    h. click OK again and restart the computer.

For more information, see the article below:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929453

Method 2: Reinstall the drivers for the tuner:
    1. If you have added a TV tuner card separately, install the drivers that came with the tuner.
    2. If your computer came with Windows 7 Premium and a tuner, reinstall the drivers for the tuner. Click Start, all programs, Recovery Manager, and then click Recovery Manager again.
If you are prompted, click Yes to continue.
    3. in the Recovery Manager screen, click the hardware driver reinstallation and follow the on-screen instructions to restore the tuner driver.

Method 3: Install the driver from the manufacturer of the tuner tuner updates:
If you have added a TV tuner card separately, go to the manufacturer's Web site and install the driver for the tuner updates.

  • Security Suite blocking Windows Media center to connect to the Extender

I was initially a little happy home network with an xbox 360, a wired router and my pc under Windows 7 ULT(64bit) Norton 360 AV. During my AV license expires, I downloaded the version of my ISP (Norton Security Suite 4) to replace.

Now I can't Media center to add or discover the Extender. I added to Windows Media Center svchost.exe to the list of permitted programs, but it doesn't have the thing.

In help on the xbox live forums, suggestions are to work with the Windows Firewall not Norton. The Norton software has a different interface for the administration of the rules and I saw not a place where you can designate which programs can access which ports. And half of the programs listed as Qwave, Remote Desktop etc, I can't even find the interface of Norton.

If anyone knows or has worked this issue before Norton Security suite please respond when you can. Thank you

    Hello

You can try the steps below and check if that helps.

    (a) in the main window of Norton Internet Security (Protect computer, privacy), in the network pane, click settings.

    (b) under smart firewall, in line with program control, click Configure.

    (c) in the control of the program window, click Add.

    (d) in her select a program dialog box, locate the executable file for the program that you want to add.

    (e) click Open.

    (f) in the program control window, select the level of access that you want this program to have

You can also check out the link below and check if that helps to allow access to the Media Center Extender.

  • Media Center will not recognize the internal TV tuner from Sony

Original svl24 title: sony + tv tuner + multimedia
Win7 Media center won't recognize the internal tv tuner Sony (Bravia). The installation program rises "tv tuner" not found. What is interesting, is that Sony SVL24 can detect and be able to use the TV without Media center option.  Anyone have a solution?

you have a link to your model of machine somewhere on the Sony site? the info I have
found the third sites indicates that there is no accessible software
TV for Media Center tuner. This information shows that you can watch TV without the
    computer is turned on.

To me, this indicates that the TV tuner is the type that you would have in normal
only TV (which is not capable of Media Center) support.

You can probably add a USB tuner to this all-in-one and watch/record TV via
Media Center, but it doesn't look like the 'tuner' in your computer is a
    "computer" tuner

  • How to load Microsoft Media Center TV from inside the Touchsmart request

    Hello

I would like to be able to run Microsoft Windows Media Center of the Touchsmart software, however I don't seem to be able to add the Windows Media Center application to the list of "Targets" Touchsmart, in fact I thought that this would be already listed as target - but is not...

In the case, I tried to add it manually in my target field but I get an error in pink bounce foolishly saying

"The target entry is not valid. If please check spelling and re-enter the target. »

Here's what I did and would expect it to work, but don't - mind if I get this you right from the start-> execute command or in a shortcut, the command works, it loads and runs the TV without going through the Media Center Start menu...

    In Touchsmart app,...

    1. click on customize

    2. click on add a tile...

    3. click on the type of program, and then click Next button

    4. in the type of field target in:

    C:\Windows\EHOME\EHSHELL. EXE /HOMEPAGE:VideoFullscreen.XML /PUSHSTARTPAGE:TRUE

    5. in name, enter "TV".

    6. choose an icon in the icon list

    7. click on OK

(Here is where I get the mentioned error)

    Thanks in advance...

Laptop HP ENVY 17-j005tx, HP ENVY 27 - k001a, HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 G2020T, HP MediaSmart EX495 Server tilt, HP MediaVault 2020, HP ENVY 120 AiO Printer

In fact, I think I solved the problem!

I created a link shortcut on my desktop with the command line and then instead to enter the command line for the target to step 4, I entered the link shortcut instead, for example I created the shortcut first and placed it on my desktop with the following command line:

    C:\Windows\EHOME\EHSHELL. EXE /HOMEPAGE:VideoFullscreen.XML /PUSHSTARTPAGE:TRUE

    I named the abbreviation "TV".

In step 4, I entered the target manually as:

    C:\Users\Jim\Desktop\TV.lnk

And then the rest of the steps, now I see the tile in Touchsmart and I am able to run the TV in Media Center live!

But I still don't understand why Microsoft Media Center is not listed in the default target list...

    Cheers... (Yay for me lol)

  • Windows Media Center almost completely broken and ehRec.exe take 50% CPU

My windows media center is broken. Part, but probably not all, the problem is ehRec.exe uses up to 50% of the CPU, which means that it is completely connected because I have a computer with dual-core CPU.

Do not record scheduled recordings. Sometimes, I can't even in media center. It becomes inadmissible. Usually just after a reboot, I can enter (which starts the record if we were waiting) but not if I first have to do other things. It seems that my media center just kaput.

I got this incomprehensible message in the case where the application log

The description for the event (0) in Source (Media Center Scheduler) ID is not found. The local computer may not have the information necessary registry or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the option/auxsource = flag to retrieve this description; For more information, see Help and Support. The following information is part of the event: unable to write the backup file...

There is not any other journal entries of interest, with the exception of those who say that I started a record while the show was in progress. I get those now, when I start media center just after the restart, because he wasn't already record where it should be.

EhRec.exe sometimes stop looping. Not this time. It was looping when I started to write this and it's always a loop.

Is it possible to reinstall completely media library? I tried to run Setup, but it blocks half the time with ehRec.exe pounding to the CPU. I see that other people have the problem of ehRec.exe (beginning around mid-August), but it doesn't seem to be a real solution to this problem.

Remove any recent update of microsoft .net framework. I had this problem several times. The first time, he ended up reinstalling the entire system. Although I suspect that the recent update of the .net framework is the culprit, I was not skilled enough to remove it first.  This time I look for answers elsewhere and no one really had a clue. Then I removed the .net framework 4 client update and voila, problem solved. I hope it will work for you, if you don't have not messed around first with other parts of the system too. I tried scannow /sfc solution, but really... This only works if you have the most recent operating system on the disk. Many have download updates, service pack, Microsoft and therefore, cannot provide a disk with the appropriate files. Anyway, it is not the solution. Apparently, the way of downloading these updates of .net framework is important. I don't know the solution for a correct installation of updates, but do not know that the 50% CPU problem is solved EVERY time, repealing the last update. Hope this helps someone. I have certainly spent enough time and lost enough when microsoft updates, disable the operation of my computer. Unfortunately, it's the solutions we try that sealed the fate of our readers. I lost 15mos of professional documents in my records of e-mail in September of my attempts stupid to solve this problem, after that a previous update of .net framework caused my duty reinsall windows.

  • Windows Media Center is not in the list of all programs - Vista Home Premium

Hi, I can't find Windows Media Center on my computer - I have Windows Vista Home Premium.

I try to use my TV on my computer. It has a built-in TV Tuner. But I can't find Media Center.

I know when I got the computer last year - it came with something to activate the TV - but I have no internet at this point - so nothing could be done. Since then, I've upgraded to Service Pack 2. All the documentation said that Media Center should be there. I've looked everywhere and Media Center does not appear to be more!

Can you please help - if I don't now how can I access the Media Center.

    Thanks in advance.

    Julie

Thanks for this, before I saw this, I worked on how to solve this problem.

First, I downloaded the cumulative update for Windows Media Center-still nothing.

Then I peeked my Control Panel/Default Programs/Set Program Access and Computer Defaults.

My settings were now on the custom, and default media player - tick on "Enable access to this program" next to Windows Media Center had been removed! (of course by another media program)-I reticked this box and as if by magic, the program appeared in all programs and was now visible to the rest of the computer. "

This setting should make it invisible to the rest of the computer - he of course does not use if it is checked.

(I also found once I ticked the box next to Windows Media Player (who had also disappeared, even if it was marked as a media player by default) - he also appeared in the all programs list- and he had never been there before!) I know because I had to go and insert my link on the desktop to access it.

All sorted - what a huge relief. Just as it takes.

  • Using an ATI TV Wonder HD 750 PCIe and the Media Center can't find the analog signals of the conductor not to use a decoder

I just installed a diamond ATI TV Wonder HD 750 PCIe on my 64 bit Windows 7 system (it's actually the second tuner card I tried) and still get the same problem. Media Center recognizes the card and both tuners analog and digital, but fails the analogue listening. I get digital very well. I tried to add a channel manually and still no luck. I use cable TV with no cable box and tested the signal on my TV and receive all channels.

I also downloaded the latest Diamond driver and installed all updates more recent windows.

In Media Center, I tried to automaticlly and manually select my signal and each combination, but available with no luck.

    Can you please help

    Rob

Because, for an analog tuner, Media Center requires that said tuner is an MPEG2 Encoder (or that the manufacturer creates a software encoder which emulates this.)  The Theater HD 750 chip is not this, and it seems (after some looking) that ATI has not created a software encoder (side note: they are unlikely to do so, because they left the tuner market.)

Out of curiosity, what was the 'other tuner"which has been tried before?

Honestly, my recommendation would be to return the tuner (if possible) and get a combo tuner or hybrid that is known to work properly.  My first recommendation would be for a Hauppauge HVR-2250 (Council dual combo/hybrid), because it works wonderfully in MC as a tuner NTSC/Clear-QAM of combo/hybrid.  MC knows how to treat as what it is, and it works very, very well (I have not one.)

That, or an AverTV Combo G2 (which is not as flexible as the ' 2250, where its slightly lower price.)

  • Media Center crashes when configuring the TV signal

I bought a new computer there with Windows 8 (64-bit) a month and set at level to Pro pack for the Media Center. I use a TV HDHomerun tuner that is connected to the network that worked fine on my old machine of Windows 7 and Windows 8 new machine until this week.  I noticed that a show than I had expected did not record.  I found that Media Center did not find a signal.  When I started the process of signal TV Media Center froze.  After several trials, Media Center not continue and set up a TV signal.  I get a popup that says that Media Center has stopped working and closes.  I also received an error in Media Center indicating that Media Center has encountered a serious problem.

I searched for this resolution and have not found one. I tried a clean boot and received the same error and crash.  I uninstalled Media Center, then reinstalled, which did not work. I also deleted files of database to let Media Center rebuild, which also did not work.  SFC \scannow comes out with no error.
Can someone help me please?  I feel I lost the $100 for the Media Center of the Pro Pack.  All of this worked smoothly in Windows 7.  That's happened?

If I can add my two cents to this, even if the thread is a year old, I have two tuners TV, one by HP and DIAMOND.  The DIAMOND is new and has not been tested with Win7, but the HP tuner worked fine with Windows 7, and it worked with Windows 8.1... once.  Now, whenever I try to use Windows Media Center to put in place my TV signal or watching television, the receiver service crashes, restarts and continues to hang until I have leave any action calls this service.

The Compatibility Center said that the DIAMOND tuner is compatible with Win8.1, but not the HP tuner.  However, the computer is a HP.

EDIT: Look in the event viewer and all ehRecvr.exe accidents are related to C:/Windows/SYSTEM32/vorbis.acm.  This file is associated with FL Studio.  I renamed the file vorbis.acm.bak and tried again, and made me the error.

  • Windows 7 Media Center will not download the new guide listings

    Hello

I am really frustrated. WMC will not download the new guide listings and I tried all the patches that are supposed to be that I found in this forum. I also tried the system restore, which did not fix the problem. Obviously the problem is not affected by the restore program.

I was able to determine that there is some kind of corruption of the WMC files that Windows 7 can not solve (according to the event log).

I'm a bit exasperated at the tenacity of this problem. Y at - it a reliable fix or I need to reinstall Windows 7?

    Thank you

You have the update for Windows Media Center installed?

    Click on the article below:
