Just because a media file plays in Windows Media Player
does not ensure that it is compatible with Movie Maker.

In fact... Movie Maker has problems with MP3 files... better
bet would be to convert the files to the .wma format before

Drag and drop your clips of music on the main screen...

    Hello

Does anyone know how to solve the problem with the screensaver kick watching a movie using Windows Media Player (WMP), even though I unchecked the option to "allow the screensaver during playback" in WMP?

I found that if I start Windows Media Center (WMC) first and watching TV for example or even listen to music in WMC and then then quit, then load WMP to watch an AVI, after the specified time, the screen saver starts, and the film is no longer visible until I move the mouse to stop the screen saver.  I know not if I reboot WMP works perfectly and no screensaver will start, which is not so much that I restart WMC, then switch back to WMP...

  • Will Media Player Play a soundcards. MOV file?

How I can... or is - Windows Media Player can play a video file with the extension. MOV?  . I get the message that reads he does support the file and there may be a problem with the codec?  Any help is appreciated on how to get these files to read is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

    Paul

    Hi Paul,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community and thanks for posting your question related to Windows Media Player.

You get an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file"during playback of video files with .mov extensions.

Windows Media Player 12 is the version of the drive supported on Windows 8. . MOV files are supported both on Windows Media Player. However, you seem to get this error.

The reason for this may be listed in this note here.

Apple Computer developed the QuickTime file format to create, edit, publish, and view multimedia files. QuickTime format can contain video, animation, graphics, 3D and virtual reality (VR) content. Only QuickTime version 2.0 or earlier files can be played in Windows Media Player. Later versions of QuickTime require the Apple QuickTime Player owner. For more information, visit the following Apple Web site:

    http://www.Apple.com/QuickTime

    Hello ballmouth,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers Site.

To better help, please see the questions below:

    ·         What is the brand and model of your PC? Please also pass on the edition of Windows Vista that you have installed.

    ·         The problem occurs with only one DVD or several? Please also relay the exact error message when this problem occurs.

In addition, if you have Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate, DVD capabilities are included as part of the operating system. If you have Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista business, or Windows Vista Business installed, you can add or buy a DVD decoder pack to improve DVD playback experience.

  • Windows Media Player will not play a. MOV file

I have a new Dell laptop with Windows 7 Professional and Windows Media Player will not play a '. MOV' video file completely (the video but not sound). I am told by Microsoft Windows Media Player will not play a MOV file, and I need Codec VLC add on or another player who will play MOV file. What is the best solution and if its for download a Codec VLC, then what is the best source?

    Guess why?  [ :-) ]

Types of files supported by Windows Media Player:

Which was probably that there was a lack of understanding between the container file and the codec here (in November 2013).  He says he's a "MOV" does not mean that he plays with the same codecs as all other MOV files.  ;-)
