  • Windows Media Player 12 - slow to update the library

I have a big disco 50K more songs.  I recently moved the music to a harsh new Bank and changed the directory structure.  I deleted the music library WMP (by removing everything C:\Users\###\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player), open from WMP12 and so went to file/manage libraries added in each of the directories music where the music is stored.  As expected, WMP began to read music and I can see the songs populating the library as they come.

The problem is that this is happening very slowly.  As about 2 seconds per song.  At this rate, it will be almost 4 days of continuous operation to completely rebuild the library.  I got it done in the past (but maybe not with WMP12?), but never experienced this kind of snails pace update.  Any ideas on what could be causing it to ad to the library files so slowly or what I can do to speed things up to?

    Thank you

    JC

I can play a dvd on my pc via the media player windows media if my operating system is vista? Original title: "skins".
I recently downloaded a lot of skins from the microsoft Web site, and it worked very well for about an hour. Then I saw a skin called 'come back' I don't not download but recalled seeing in my default skins that were already installed. I wanted to see what it was and when I did caused a problem which I can't specify because the notification window remained only until fairly long for me to see (in a nutshell) "unknown problem caused media player to close and to protect my Media Player Windows has disabled skins. Now, I spent over 3 hours to try each answer in the forums for this issue and not one worked for me. I am running Windows Vista Home Basic and I can't find a way to reactivate my skin so that I can use only skins working know is the company and changing the skin that caused the problem. I tried deleting and reinstalling all the skins again, but again does not help. I tried to do a right click on the skin to go to properties to activate as suggested in the forums, but when I right click on it nothing happens. So now I have like 20 downloaded skins but the only way that they work is if I download again and choose to view them, but if I try to change the playlist or switch to full mode then it goes to firm skin and I download it again to get the one I want. I am so frustrated with this problem which I think should be a very easy thing to fix, but nothing I try works. Please help me. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

  • Windows Media Player deletes the files in library

Several months previously, Windows Media Player has lost all the files that I had added to the library.  Only three files remain, in my view, are examples of files.  I can access my music going directly in the folder and opening the file from there, but I can't view the files in WMP.  I searched questions similar and tried the recommendations given here, but none have worked.

I tried to rebuild the library.

I tried to disable WMP and then the reactivation, and then when I open WMP, repopulated with all my music library! But after shutting down the computer and WMP the next day, I looked at the library fill and empty then back down into the three sample files.

I did a scan of SFC system today, and the only corrupt files that it found were related to Internet Explorer, that he fixed.

There is no new updates to Windows Installer.  I'm running Windows 7 Pro.  The computer is about 2 years old, and WMP worked well until a few months ago.

    Hello

The most common cause for problems of library WMP is 3rd party players trying to take exclusive
library control or have unusual storage settings. 3rd part antivirus/security programs can
    also be involved.

Think outside the box, because it is not likely to be an internal error of WMP.

  • Windows Media player 12 will not update DRM

    Hello

I use my local library's digital download service. I tried to download a digital book... and he tells me that I need to improve my 25.00.0 to 25.00.1 DRM... or something like that.

Then I followed the instructions of programs... no upgrade

So I tried the link to Microsoft, they provided for use in Internet Explorer... There is a button to upgrade, but it turns so it can be pressed.

Then I went into Media Player and looked to see if it had to be upgraded... says that it is fully upgraded.

Ok... I'm fresh out of ideas... anyone else have an idea?

    Thank you

    Rick

    Hi Rick,

What site are you talking about?

I suggest to follow the steps below and we update on the State of the question.

Method 1: Launch windows media player troubleshooting DRM and check what is the cause of the problem.

To do this, please follow the steps below:

Open the troubleshooting Windows Media Player settings Troubleshooter by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type Troubleshooting, and then click Troubleshooting. Click view all, and then click Windows Media Player DRM.

If the method above does not work, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:
rename the DRM folder, this forces Windows to build a new one.

    Follow these tips:

If Windows Media Player 12 is running, quit Windows Media Player 12.

    (a) click Start.

    (b) in the start search box, type "search".

    (c) click on "change search options for files and folders.

    (d) now, click on the view tab.

    (e) in accordance with the notice,.

    (1) select the radio button show the hidden files, folders and drives

    (2) remove the checkmark from the checkbox Hide extensions of known file types.

    (3) remove the check mark from the box Hide protected operating system files.

    (4) click on apply and Ok.

After having access to hidden folders and files, follow the steps below:

    (a) If Windows Media Player 12 is running, quit Windows Media Player 12.

    (b) locate the DRM folder on the hard disk, and then rename the DRM folder in backup DRM.

    (c) Note by default, this folder is in the following location in Windows 7:

    System folder\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM

Visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

    http://drmlicense.one.Microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp

Follow the instructions on the website to update the safety component of Windows Media Player 12. This procedure allows you to obtain new licenses for media content. You can also reset licenses for purchased content so that you can play that content on a computer.

    Note

On a Windows 7 computer, you must run Internet Explorer as an administrator before update you the safety component of Windows Media Player 12. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start and then click all programs.

Right click on Internet Explorer and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    Note

You must contact any third-party stores where you purchased music to reset the licenses for that music. If you copied CDs for protected Windows Media Audio files, the CD must be copied again.

Check out the link for more information below.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/DRM/FAQ.aspx

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/FAQ/DRM.mspx

You can try the Tool ResetDRM and see if the problem can be solved.

If you have additional problems, please reply to this post and we will be happy to help you further.
