MediaVault 2120 is most seen on the network

Actually, there are two problems that occur at the same time... first of all, I can't no longer power the unit off using the switch (I have to unplug the power cord... I can still turn it on using the power button)... all the lights are blue, but none of my computers (a PC one and the other a Mac) can find the device on the PC... sometimes, you can get records briefly (for a few seconds, then it becomes unresponsive).

Help, I don't know where to start... send the unit somewhere?  I believe that I can save the data at this time (hopefully I can), but I don't know how to start... I'm a little technologicall savvy - is there a way to run diagnostics on the device to see where is the problem?  Can softgware be recharged somehow on the unit?  Is this a problem with the hard drive from the unit?

Help, please.

Thank you

Tom

I was able to get my MV upward and running. I tried not to take the shot scatter approach and which seems to have solved the problem was to remove and replace the battery on the motherboard.

I can only hypothesis that remove battery reset something on the set had been a failure. He was only 14 hours, but well.

  • HP 200 MFP M276nw not seen in the network after changing router

Printer: LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw

LAN: both PC (Windows 7) and the printer connected to the router.  Other devices connect wirelessly.  Internet service is cable.

I installed this printer when a router Linksys E2500 was in use.  The configuration of the network after the installation of the printer:

    IPv4 address: 192.168.1.120

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

    Configured by IP: DHCP

I replaced the router Linksys with a Netgear WNDR4500 router (N900) a month ago.  Everything worked fine for about two weeks.  All of a sudden, jobs sent to the printer began to take a long time to start to print until they stopped printing altogether.  The printer does not appear as a device plugged (cable) in the interface of the router on the Web.  Not even the HP Print or HP Print software and the Scan doctor could find a printer is connected.

I have unisntalled and reinstall the printer, but did not succeed until I changed the Ethernet cable connecting the printer to the router.  The difference is that the old cable Cat5e and replacement a Cat6?  It's printing and scanning now but the printer is still absent as a wired device, and I fear that it will stop working once more.

I noticed that the network configuration of the printer after reinstalling is:

    IPv4 address: 169.254.230.140

    Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

    Default gateway: 169.254.230.140

    Configured by IP: AUTOIP

Research on the Web, I found an article saying that AUTOIP could be a sign of problems of router or a cable.  My suspicion is that the IP address of the printer is constantly changing and this is the reason for the delay of printing.

My questions to the experts are: I could assign an IP address to the printer manually so I can add it in the router - it provides to this effect- and how this is done?   In the Toolbox of device HP under the IPv4 Configuration, there is a dropdown menu with different options - DHCP, BOOTP, AUTOIP, and manual, but I don't know if the changes are made here or if it's a more complex undertaking.

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards

    Miguel remainder

I solved the problem, the same day I posted the request for help.

I've closed everything down - including the cable modem and router - but left the printer.  Go to the printer control panel and changed is manual configuration IPv4 of AutoIP toe.  I had already selected an IP starting with 192, since I read that starting with 169 IP addresses are associated parameters AutoIP.  From there on, the printer has presented a valid subnet mask addresses, I took one, and a default gateway address.  Then I stopped the printer.

I turned on the modem, router, pc and printer.  The router then showed the printer as a device connected with his newly assigned IP address.

I figured that the cable was not a problem here, so I put the Ethernet Cat5e cable.  What baffles me, is why the printer changed to AutoIP because it was not made by any user.  Check the reports printed during the first installation of the printer, I see that the method of IP in DHCP address.  After putting in the new router, changes were to name SSID and password in wireless devices and found the firmware of the router.

It was learning by trial as I'm not a computer expert, but so far, we print and scan documents.

Thanks to all who took the time to read the post and offered help.

I have a fairly standard home network: the 'main' computer, Vista, has the router connected to it; the second computer is a laptop, connected via the wireless network and running Windows 7. a printer that prints the laptop directly on the network (that is, do not use file & sharing from the main computer through a printer USB connection).

The problem is this: when I look at the main computer network, he does not see the laptop (he does not see the printer, either).   Conversely, when I look at the network of the laptop, he sees everything.  So if I want to copy a file to the master computer to Notepad, for example, I have to put the file in the Public of the main computer directory, go to Notepad and pull it.  I can't write on directory Public of the laptop.  Small problem, easily bypassed, but a problem however - especially when the main computer used to see the laptop, and I don't remember anything I've done.

When I looked at the properties of the C: drive of the computer laptop last night, he said "not shared" (how did that happen?), so I turned on sharing and takes the default value - which was the network path, \c \\Ernie-PC [computer name] [colon No.].  I was expecting the colon.

And time under "Network and sharing files folder" is said C:\ is shared, after "network path: \\Ernie-pc\c, ' the 'Share' button is grayed.

I have the HP printer software installed on all computers, but on WIN XP desktop pc I can not detect the printer on the network.  During the installation process, the software detects that the HP printer and the WIN XP pc are connected to two different routers (DSL Modem/Router is detected as a router by WIN XP pc).  On the another desktop running WIN8 or WIN7, it has no problem detection even if the printer is connected to the DSL Modem/Router, while the PC is connected to the NetGear router.

  • How can I add or change the network I had for the TouchPad?

Most of the devices on a network have names for the device for one reason or another. This allows to distinguish between connected devices and the legitimacy of it.

So far, I was unable to add a network ID to this TouchPad.

With the Amazon Kindle fire had seen the network ID as 'My Phone' that I really want to change, and fast. Haven't managed to change with an Android app called Fing, which enabled me to use an unorthodox network identification name.

I would like to find another network utility which can do the same for the HP TouchPad. Any ideas about a utility or more manual method? FING via Kindle fire shows no network for my TouchPad ID.

    Hello Xelkos,

What you're talking about is actually a function of DHCP. If you request an IP address, a client can send a hostname on the server so that it can be easily identified in a readable way.

By default, this is disabled on the TouchPad. To enable it, you'll need to edit a text file on the device. There are many different ways to do this, so pick your favorite and follow these insturctions.

    1. Find /etc/dhclient.conf and open
    2. Find the line that begins with:
      # send-hostname

    3. Delete the "#" sign in the front of the line and change the text inside the quotation marks. This text should be what you want as your host name to be:
      send-hostname "TouchPad"

    4. Once you have finished, save and close the file
    5. Turn Wi - Fi off and then turn it back on. You should now see your name appear on your Access Point / router.

NOTE: Do not forget that in order to make these changes permanent, you must set the file read-write system:

    mount -o remount,rw /

You must also set this back to read-only when you are finished:

    mount -o remount,ro /

  • 64-bit Windows 7 mouse freezes / stuttering several times per minute, when the network activity is high

    Hi all
I recently bought a new computer Packard Bell with a Windows 7 OEM who have a problem with the mouse and keyboard. I've been in contact with the manufacturer, but they are also confused that I have on this issue. After looking in many discussions about the problems of the mouse in windows 7, I found that there are many who have this problem but there is no consistency in the HW configuration, i.e. it seems more a problem with the OS.
I really like the machine and Windows 7, but I have a nagging issue with frequent 1-2 second freeze/stuttering of the mouse during the 'high' network activity (e.g. streaming a YouTube video). During my research, I met at least 4 people who who call network activity affect the behavior of the mouse.
Sometimes the keyboard or the mouse becomes completely insensitive and the system must be restarted. However, on these occasions, the rest of the system is not affected - for example Skype and other programs to continue to operate without glitch or lag.
To try to solve this problem, I did the following (with no effect on the problem):
-Updated all the drivers to the latest.
-J' tried different version of the mouse drivers (most recent running now).
-Tried different versions of the network driver (latest running now).
-Change keyboard and mouse to the PS2 came with the computer.
-Set the system to 'high performance '.
    -Changed for USB mouse
-J' tried various Bios settings 'mode of power/suspend' (proposed in solution in another thread)
One thing that has had a strange effect on the problem was:
-Seen the PS2 and USB mouse is touching one when the other freezes / stuttering will immediately resolve stuttering gel.
    I have studied/noted:
-There has never been a 'error box"popping up in Windows when this happens.
-In the event viewer I see warnings from "i8042prt" regarding (remember, thie is translated from Swedish :) 'The device sent an incorrect response, once the keyboard has been reset' (this is what I found, if you need more information please ask but provide what to look for and where)
My system has the following specifications:
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    Versions: 6.1.7600 build 7600
    Manufacturer: Packard Bell
    Computer model: ipower G3720

    Hi Chris,

I might have a happy ending to this topic :)
I returned my old piece of system got another, it worked fine at first, but then the mouse began to stutter once again.

The system had only a few programs installed so I started to uninstall it to see if it changed anything.
    A program - Skype.

I never suspected that my friends use Windows 7 and Skype without any problem, although they could not use quadcore and 64-bit version.

My system is without stutters and glitches for a week, so I'm pretty sure that was the problem.
That Skype is a very wide spread of IM, it could apply to other institutions.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Windows 7 network can't see multiple devices on the network

Hi all.  I'm about to leave my hair on this issue - I hope someone can prevent the horror that would be me without hair.

I am running Windows 7 Home Edition on a personal computer that is connected via cable to a router UVerse also providing my home with wireless services.

A few months ago, I could see - of my PC, network and devices and printers - the two PS3, XBox systems and Samsung TV devices that are connected to my wireless network.  Apparently randomly, my computer has ceased to be able to see these devices.  After trying everything I could think of, I've finally reformatted the system (before Christmas) and everything was good again until last week when my computer stopped once more to see these devices.  I * really * don't want to reformat my system again...

Here are some details on where I started after the last reformat:

The PC is connected to a homegroup.

The PC has a wired connection to the router.  The devices are connected over wireless.

    The firewall is turned on.

    AVG anti-virus has been activated.

Network discovery, file and sharing printers and streaming media are all enabled.

    Password sharing is disabled.

Devices could stream Netflix/Hulu as well as files on my computer (using the PlayOn Server - I've never used WMP).

Now my devices can still Streaming Netflix/Hulu, but not the files on my computer.  The PC can't see the devices and the devices cannot see the PC.

Here is a list of most of the things I've tried to solve (although I've done so many things, I probably don't forget some):

I added the PC to the wireless network, so now that it is connected both cables and wireless.  I even tried to fill these connections, although I removed the bridge when I saw that there was no difference.

I have disabled the firewall completely.

    I disabled the AV entirely.

I switched a residential group to a working network and vice versa.

I gave you the assigned IPs devices in the router configuration.

I've rolled back all the windows updates installed since the last time the devices showed in the PC network.

I've removed the devices on the network, reconnected the and reconfigured to ensure that they have the media streaming (if applicable).

I did several reboots the PC, the router, and devices.

I added the PlayStation Network and XBOX Live and applications hosted under NAT/game on my router.

I have enabled file sharing for devices that use 40 encryption or 56-bit.

    Additional troubleshooting information:

When I try to add a device using the Add Device dialog box, no device never shows.

Under media streaming options, when I look at instruments under all the networks and Local network, no unknown device only shows (even in WMP).  All devices that * show are already set to 'allow '.

If I have access to my router configuration, the devices will appear as connected.

I can ping devices from the PC.

I searched endlessly on the Internet (including other threads on this forum) and have tried all of the suggestions I thought.  The only thing I can't do is activate uPNP on my router because routers Uverse do not offer this option.  However, I don't think that it's important because my PC could see these devices for some time after my last reformat and made no changes to the configuration of the router.

Because multiple and different wireless devices are involved, and because a reformat solves the problem, in my view, it is a Windows problem, but I can't understand what to change on my system to make things work again.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

It's a shame that you have to format the system first and now, the problem still persists. I really appreciate the efforts made to try to resolve the problem. This can be due to any dispute of third party software due to which the connection failed. I suggest you follow the methods below and check.

Method 1: Run the network troubleshooter to diagnose the problem.

    Run the network troubleshooter

Method 2: start the computer in safe mode with network and then perform the clean boot.

Step 1: restart the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem occurs, proceed as in the link:

See: , start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: If the safe mode with network works, perform clean boot and check if any third-party application is causing problem.

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 3: To enable the network devices to display on the network map, they must meet four requirements:

    • Must be a HOME network or work: Mapping network only display the devices connected to a HOME network or WORK location. Devices connected to a network PUBLIC or FIELD cannot be displayed using the network card.
    • Devices must be DETECTABLE: The network discovery setting allows devices to be able to be seen by other devices on the same network. For more information, please consult: , enable or disable network discovery
    • Devices must comply with the LINK LAYER TOPOLOGY DISCOVERY Protocol: Topology Discovery LLTD (Link Layer) is a protocol developed by Microsoft to enable networked devices to 'discover' each other. If a device does not use the LLTD protocol so it can not be displayed in the network map. Windows 7 computers have the LLTD protocol implemented.
    • LLTD must be enabled on your LAN connection properties: The Link Layer Topology Discovery Mapper of e/s driver and the Link Layer Topology Discovery responder must be enabled on your local area connections properties panel.

To check LLTD is enabled, you can refer to the following steps:

    a. Select open network and sharing Center by clicking on the icon of your network down to the right of your task bar:

    b. now, click connect to the Local network

    c. now, click on Properties

    d. ensure that two LLTD options below are selected (by default, these options are still enabled in Windows 7).

From now to try the methods above and let us know the status. We will be happy to help you further.

  • Corruption, massive in almost all of the network services user account and firewall Windows

Win 7 Pro SP 1. An account with administrator privileges. Domestic wireless access to a router; D-link devices. System was working fine until about seven 2 (and I pointed out some Windows updates installed September 1, but don't think it's relevant). Computer users allege no unusual behavior on their part Analyses of viruses from Windows Defender and Avast free were clear. Restoring from a previous restore point (two different ones) has not solved the problem - the restore points were date known system OK. Corruption has been maintained despite the restorations (worked and failed).

A complaint that has lost network access. On the survey, found that all these symptoms mentioned below, and no doubt other symptoms exist that I am not aware of. The solution was to create a new user account, and which restored massive configuration problems.

    Symptoms:

1 Windows Firewall could not turn on. Yes, I looked at the KBs regarding this issue (basic dependencies does not and so on) and tried individual hotfixes from the KB, without success.

    2. in the network sharing Center, there was no display of the usual icons at the top of this window. Those who show the personal computer connected to the router connected to the internet. Error message displayed re no dependence of base.

    3. it is possible to send signals between the USB wireless device on the computer and the wireless router. In the task area, the Windows message was 'limited connectivity', something like that. It was possible to connect and disconnect using this facility. But no internet access, notes.

    4. the resolution of the problems would not be executed. The message was that political diagnostics are not running. All attempts to start this service (with its two assistance services) has failed. Tried the individual patches of the relevant KB (wearing mostly on change permissions in the registry at some points), which failed.

    5. in addition, the Dhcp client service would not be executed. Once again, among the KBs tried the proposed fix on the permissions change, which failed. (Omitted in the sense that I could not always start the service; editing the registry was fine).

    5. firewall KB contained a file "beats" that you can create and run, I did, and another had similar commands (start and stop some services) that could be run in a command window. Both failed on some services - especially Mspsvc (Microsoft protection Service) - Although the success was shown to other services.

    6. when I created a new user profile, I re-entered the registry permissions in some of these places just to see what was different. In the damaged user profile, what was missing, it was the standard system of services (about 3 or 4 of them; things like the name of Dhcp). What showed was the News user account (for the specific user account; administrator; and two more points).

Telling me that something has released a complete subsystem or three. Never seen this behaviour before.

Would be nice to have an idea where to look for a fix / restore procedure.

    Hello

Thank you for providing us with brief information on the specific issue that you are facing the computer.

I would like to know, have you been able to access the network on the new user profile?

As you have tried several steps including the change of permission for the registry value and run the batch file, I would ask to perform Scan SFC.

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files.

For more information on how to scan SFC, please see the Microsoft Support Article below.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Let us know the results of the SFC Scan, so that we can help you further.

  • Load balancing across the NETWORK interface card

    Hello

Our ESX Server's NIC six, two for SAN, one to the dedicated Service Console and three for the virtual computer LAN traffic. I noticed one thing look in the performance tab in VC, is that all LAN traffic seems to go on one of the three the NIC and the other two are practically inactive.

If I look at the network configuration for the vSwitch those with three cards network, grouping of NETWORK cards is set for 'road based on the original virtual port code '.

Can anyone advise how to get a more 'democratic' usage of the three NETWORK adapter?

    As seen on http://www.eqlforums.com !

How many virtual machines you host? With the load balancing algorithm you have selected (default), traffic is balanced to the vNIC level (i.e. all traffic from a given vNIC always through the same bear). This is the case for all, but the IP hash algorithm, which requires you to 802.3ad static port aggregation on your pSwitch. In most cases, there is no need to worry about the use of bear - if it's a GbE NETWORK card, you're probably not close to push the limits.
