MegaRAID driver types

Hello experts,

I have a question about the megaraid driver types.

That I have confirmed, there are 3 types of drivers installed, megaraid-mbox, megaraid sas and megaraid2

When we talk about a driver for LSI MegaRAID SAS 9271-8i, megaraid sas is that we should care.

Is this correct?

And please let me know if anyone knows what megaraid-mbox and megaraid2 are for.

Thanks in advance,

KAZ

Yes, megaraid_sas is 9271-8i, but it's still worth a check of Avago / support pages LSI driver version newer than those listed in VMWare HCL.

For other 2 pilots megaraid2 and megaraid_mbox: those who are for former LSI chipsets, for example the mbox's VMware Compatibility Guide: search for device IO (LSI SATA 300... or even a DELL Perc 4)

I consider these 2 drivers being the old drivers and they (better) should not be used in modern systems.

    Hello

The code indicates that it is a Seagate Barracuda ST3320813AS 320 GB 7.2 K 3.5 "SATA Hard Drive:

    http://discountechnology.com/Seagate-Barracuda-ST3320813AS-320GB-7-2k-3-5-SATA-hard-drive

In fact nearly 100% NORMAL desktops use 3.5 "HDD.

No, you can buy more (capacity) HARD drive, you can use Seagate or other brands. Seagate has much good and fast HARD drives like the range hybrid. Please check the following information:

Everything you need: 3.5 ", capacity (2 TB is very popular now), large cache (biiger is better) and high speed (at least 7200 RPM) are characteristic of HARD drive, you you are looking for.

  • How can I get the installer for my application check the operating system type and then install the correct driver type?

I have a request that I wrote and have been use and distribute for awhile. The installer I created for this application is an additional installer to install a driver for the USB connection. The USB connection is actually a virtual COM Port. The problem is that the people who drafted modified driver setup the installation program itself. They used to have an installer that would check for 32-bit or 64-bit OS and then install the appropriate driver.

Now, they have two distinct installation programs: one for the other for 32-bit and 64-bit. They let the user know their OS and install the appropriate driver. I'd rather not have to rely on my users to do. From what I've seen the creater Installer provides that an executable to be run after the application installs.

Is it possible to have the installer of the application, check the type of OS and then run the correct executable file after installing my application? I think that I could write an Installer 'wrapper' that checks the type of operating system then executes the correct Installer. But I expect a better solution.

    Thank you

    So, I make it work!

The trick is to find a way to determine what type of OS you are using. The method I used was, indeed, read the environment variable. A buddy of mine sent me this link:

http://StackOverflow.com/questions/2401756/how-to-find-if-the-machine-is-32bit-or-64bit One of the phrases he bibliography the Processor_Architecture environment variable.

It seemed like a reasonable idea. So I started to research how read LV it environment variables turns out, you do it by reading a registry key. There is an example of LV on how to read a registry key. But I did not know where they are in the registry. So, I searched the Processor_Architecture registry. I found it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment.

According to the article in the link, this value will already be x 86 for a 32 bit OS, or something with 64 inside. I just check the response for x 86 string. If it is, I just run the x 86 version of the driver Installer. Otherwise, I run the x 64 version.

It turned out to be as simple as that.

    I hope this helps someone.

I can not get Windows to recognize my DVD burner.  He's going to burn discs, but they can be read later.  I tried allsorts, to delete upper filters and lower, I tried the Microsoft Fix It, coming to say 'the reader is unable to burn CD/DVD' - I already knew!  I uninstalled the drive and reinstalled several times.  Then, I bought another drive, but it's the same thing.  I wanted to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows in case there was a problem with a missing driver, but it's always the same.  I spent all the hours and some every night for the past 2 weeks.  I have knowledge need to burn DVDs, but am still not able to do.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion ZD8398EA, running Windows XP Pro, 2 GB of RAM, I have all the latest updates including SP3.  This problem happened all of a sudden and I remember the last date, I was able to burn DVDs, but besides updates, I couldn't find a reason why it should change.  Before you reinstall Windows, I tried a system restore to the day before where I knew that I had burned last DVD, but that no longer works.  Any ideas anyone, I'm at the end of my home!

  • Mix magnetic Drive Types to the motorized group of VSAN

    Hey all,.

I have a few questions about some possible configurations of VSAN etc.

Leash so say - I have numerous amounts of Dell R720 servers configured in the configuration of 8 * 3 drive Bay, 5 inches I want to renovate for VSAN.

I need to have as much capacity as possible in each unit, but I also need the storage to work properly. (Try to get the best of both worlds, I know)

So my solution would be to provide:

    (1) ioScale 3.2 the SSD layer to card

    (2) three - 1.2 TB SAS 10 K disks

    (3) 4-6 TB NL - SAS disks

    (4) 1 small SSD capacity for starting in a 2.5-inch converter (these hosts have more than 512 GB of ram)

This would group 1 disc by host (less the boot of course drive). I intend to have at least three copies of each file (I think it is TOF = 2)

This should net aprox 30tbish raw and usable by the host, assuming that about 10 to FTT = 2.

These hosts could support a fairly large deployment VCD which demonstrated the effect mixer I/O on the berries of lesser. (We were using an array of level 3/d, and it maxed out and died on us when hit around 5000 IOPS / s)

It is difficult to predict, and the constant need for storage more is staggering. (I hope that we can mitigate by scaling vertically with VSAN)

I guess that my main problem/question mix 10K and the large disks. My hope is that it would be beneficial from a point of view I/O and vSAN would help balance I/O data once started turning the flash off.

This approach was proposed by a vendor, but I have not really found something on the web that theory.

I don't know if its even recommended/supported. (i.e. mixture of workouts magnetic in a single disk group VSAN and even if you do, there will be performance notable increases.)

I would not recommend mixing disks of high capacity with SAS disks. It will make your very unpredictable performance since it depends much of which drive the IO is coming. Some may have a microsecond latency when the DSS. Some may have a latency in milliseconds when 10 K rpm and others can be tens of milliseconds when NL - SAS and will depend on the overall load on the system. It is simply not recommended as VSAN will not differentiate between 10K and 7200 RPM drives. In addition, with 7200 rpm disks, you also have less IOPS / s for TBS more.

Why, when I specify the model and the type I have, so a lot of readers not supported those listed and not supported? I'm not interested in optical drives that does not fit. I would like to know who does.

Sorry, this must be a dummy question, but...

I just read "JDBC driver Type 4 Oracle has been deprecated" in WLS11g.

Have you tried to contact support for laptop and ask whether something should be activated or changed for this port USB3.0? Maybe some BIOS settings.

If possible, try to check the functionality of some other USB3.0 available PC/laptop.

As much as I know there not something special that will help you. It is Plug & Play device.

  • Satellite L30-134 PSL33 - Question about the version of the BIOS and the type of DVD writer

    Hello!

I bought a Toshiba L30-134 PSL33 the week last in Hungary. I recorded to Toshiba international warranty, so I saw that my cell was made the 19.10.2006.
My friend bought the same laptop (Toshiba L30-134 PSL33) too (also in Hungary), two weeks ago. His machine was made on 19.12.2006.
It's already funny, but that's not all.
My laptop has a series number starts with X, and the machine of my friends has this starting with Z. That's ok.
    But here it is...
I have a BIOS version of 1.3 and my friend has a BIOS version of 1.9! 0.6 gap within two months? Why?
The other thing. I have a DVD burner called Mat * a UJ - 841 S and my friend has a LG 4082. Once again: why?
If you are looking for Toshiba BIOS update you don't find anything! It is very interesting. There must be some updates to the BIOS, because I read here to another topis that someone has a BIOS version of 1.4. But there are 1.9 too.
Each book was brand new when we bought.
    Any idea?
Let me know when you bought your laptop, what BIOS version it has, and what kind of DVD player there.
I'm wainting for the answers, because I'm really interested!

    Thank you
    Marcell

    Hey Arnaud!

I m from Hungary, too, but I think I should speak English on this forum :) So here is my notebook, I ve bought on 24.12.06. :

    Type: L30 - 134 PSL33E
The machine was made on: 19.12.06
    Series: starts with Z
    DVD player: LG
    BIOS version: 1.9

You should t be nervous on the drive, the carpet * a Panasonic, and I think that s as good as LG. Why are they different? I put t know, maybe Toshiba was such at the time. In the specifications I didn't seen anything on the drive type, so I think that s not relevant. I t has not found another version of BIOS for this model, so I t understand too why and what are the differences between the versions. But if you n t have a problem with your machine, you do not need to change the BIOS. This isn't a PC, if you haven t many options to change in the BIOS.
If you want to discuss on the laptop on the Hungarian language, I recommend the Toshiba section on www.prohardver.hu.

    Best regards
    Abel

USB driver type by Intel xHCI shows the following error message:

Have you installed a clean version of the OS?

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro U200-128 and you want to upgrade the hard drive. I can't find detailed specifications to show me the compatibility, drive type and therefore the size of a disc that I can buy.
I think that its SATA, but there is a lot of info on SATAII, not sure if it will work in my model?

    Any help appreciated

    Hi ollieg72,

You re right. Satellite Pro U200 already uses the HARD drive with SATA interface if you need a HARD SATA 2.5. In addition, it should be possible to use every ability because on SATA interface, there is no capacity limit.

Anyway, SATAII HDD is also working because they are compatible to the old interface of SATA1 downgrade. So it makes no difference if the HDD is SATAII interface or not. ;)

It can be heard at work (or maybe working), but it cannot read the discs - music films or niether. The 'properties', says the disk is full, but can not read the contents. Neither is it give details of the content.

If I run iTunes or Real Player, suffice to say it is a blank disc in the drive and told me to get ready to burn to a disc. But in his own info says that the disc is full! Windows XP sees the drive in 'Properties' and said that it is complete, but does not display the contents of the disc. Devices, said the drive (type HL-DT-STDVDRAM GSA-U10N) "working properly".

I have turned off the HDD (software protection movement) protection because he stirs a warning whenever the unit darn picked. I tried to use the drive with it on and outside. My computer is 18 months old (I think), but this problem has existed for a year and gets more and more frustrating.
