DVD not recognized - drive seen in my computer as DVD - RAM drive - Type CD ROM

I can not get Windows to recognize my DVD burner.  He's going to burn discs, but they can be read later.  I tried allsorts, to delete upper filters and lower, I tried the Microsoft Fix It, coming to say 'the reader is unable to burn CD/DVD' - I already knew!  I uninstalled the drive and reinstalled several times.  Then, I bought another drive, but it's the same thing.  I wanted to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows in case there was a problem with a missing driver, but it's always the same.  I spent all the hours and some every night for the past 2 weeks.  I have knowledge need to burn DVDs, but am still not able to do.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion ZD8398EA, running Windows XP Pro, 2 GB of RAM, I have all the latest updates including SP3.  This problem happened all of a sudden and I remember the last date, I was able to burn DVDs, but besides updates, I couldn't find a reason why it should change.  Before you reinstall Windows, I tried a system restore to the day before where I knew that I had burned last DVD, but that no longer works.  Any ideas anyone, I'm at the end of my home!

    HI Paul,.

I think that your first priority will be to remove the virus from your laptop. The following link contains the virus details: -.

    Hello

I recommend first load default settings in the BIOS. Save these settings, exit the BIOS and restart your laptop.

Then, make sure that the latest driver for the Toshiba webcam is installed. You can download it on the Toshiba site.
In addition, it would be advisable to install the latest version of the BIOS. Visit the Toshiba page!

In the worst case if you have the same problem after reinstalling the Toshiba Recovery disk it associated material s. This means that you should contact an authorized service provider. Guys can check the mobile and exchange equipment (webcam, cable or something else). Just get in touch with the guys and ask for help. From my own experience, I can say that they always try to help you as best we can.

  • Windows XP does not start after the installation of 3 GB of RAM. Will start with only 2 GB or less.

I installed the new RAM on my desktop Compaq EVO D500.  Everything was working fine until 2 GB.  When I tried to install no matter what the computer does not start.  Specifications of the computer say maximum RAM is 3 GB.  All the memory and are good because I swapped taken in all the combinations possible and memory.  Any ideas. gknapp_ny

If their were any memory related settings that had to be changed I would have no idea how do.  I had initially 512 MB of RAM (256-2 sticks).  I added a stick of 1 GB aditional third availabel taking and all went well.  Then I had two more identical 1 GB sticks and added them one at a time.  With 2 GB without problem.  But with the third stick of 1 GB that I couldn't start - I just beeps. I swapped one of the sticks of 1 GB for an old 256 MB and still no start just beeps.  When I run 2 GB everything is fine.  The BIOS recognizes the 2 GB of RAM. gknapp_ny

Sounds as if your BIOS will not identify no matter what says the spec, 3 GB.

It seems as if you may need a BIOS update in order to recognize the 3 GB of RAM - especially if it is a very old Compaq Evo D500.  See the "Improvements" tab to the page linked below.

    See http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=96295&swItem=PSG_I15378-37635&prodNameId=97121&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=3

Note that the patch on the link above is for models Evo D500 "with a ROM family 686Y2."  Read the "Release Notes" on this page to determine if your machine is one of those and if so, see "Instructions of Installation" to install the upgrade.  If your D500 is a laptop, you should Flash the ROM ONLY (i.e., update the BIOS level) when the computer is plugged - loss of power during this process can potentially cause irreparable harm to the computer.

    For the reader does not:

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • pilot missing dvd/CD; drive even not recognized by the computer

somehow, when I tried to burn a dvd, (windows DVD Creator) the computer seems to have removed its own driver for the dvd drive (I put the disc in, it recognized that it was not a disk supported, put a new one in the drive, and create dvd windows then told me that I need to install a dvd/cd writer to complete my project). the relase button disk would not work after turning in the second disc and always used to work even after that. If I use a pin code manually to open and put a disk in the light lights up recocnizing there is something in there, but that nothing, not even spin the disc. No cd, dvd or all other discs work. Ive tried a few different driver Fixer programs, even those you pay (mender driver, driver detective - no even to recognize the missing driver) and can't seem to find a solution. cd/DVD device does not even appear in "device system' list or lists of material which must show all devices, programs or drivers... also do not show my E: / in my computer, what would be my dvd/cd drive." I tried the "regedit" and could not find the 'filter filter up/down' you are supposed to remove to fix. " filter of upper/lower case is not listed in the options.

I'm on a hp Pavilion dv6000 and ive tried searching on the site Web of hp and help all forums, with no solution until now...

    Hello

For the CD/DVD problem start up that convenience store and work down to jump
nothing. He is even said to continue if the CD/DVD drive is not displayed in Device Manager.
You are much less likely to solve the problem by a hit or miss approach to try this
or such. And of course, there may be a material cause.

The HP forums, ask questions and I hope that those who have had
the same issues on similar equipment that have solved the issue respond. Only way
to succeed is to give your best effort.

HP does not have a lot of online documentation and help diagnostics on their site and those
could help to resolve some of the questions withour paying for support.

Back up your data on the device and it goes back out of the box state
can be one of the best moves to solve the present problems.

  • CD/DVD drive has stopped working and now not recognized in 'My Computer'

I have a HP Pavilion computer to office model a6109n, product number GG038AA, S/N CNH7250K0M. I've been running Windows 7 for 2 years. My CD player recently stopped working. I can't attribute this failure to any specific event that would have led to it.  When a CD is inserted, the green light comes on for about 6 seconds then turns off. The CD player is not long represented on the 'My Computer' to readers list. The CD drive appears in Device Manager. I tried to roload the driver for CD drive, Windows gave a message stating that the best driver is already installed. I have no error message and ran three programs different viruses with no problems. I've also updated Windows available current configuration that has not solved the problem. Thinking it was a hardware problem, I checked the CD drive cable connections and that did not help.  I replaced the CD drive with a new drive for HP and had the same symptoms. I returned the new CD player and he traded for an external CD drive and had the same symptoms in all USB ports. I tried every USB port with a flash player and the flash player saved on my computer in all USB ports. If my CD drive is being recognized by the Device Manager but not in my computer. It's okay if it's an internal or external drive. Everything else on the computer works fine. More troubleshooting ideas?  Thank you.

    Hello

First, try the automated Microsoft fixit at the link below.

    Windows 7

Check if the drive works now.

If it still does not work, click on the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

Then, click on the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When the device has been uninstalled click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it works now.
