Memory address question

I saw on the lenovo site, there is a Y510 (77582-FU link( ) equipped with original memory of 4 GB. This model will always be facing the same problem of memory, problem, while only 3 GB to 4 GB of memory can be really used?

is it possible to solve the problem? AFAIK, the CPU uses socket M thus, according to this article, the problem could not be solved even by using a 64-bit operating system. Is this true?

This problem is made by the method of addressing memory used in the Microsoft OS. It is not on a socket or a laptop - it's operating system itself. This problem cannot be solved.

Vista SP1 x 32 can see 4 GB but it still works with / 3 gb.

64-bit will allow you to see and to exploit the full 4 GB of RAM.

You can install x 64 version, but it will not help much - the 64-bit applications eat more memory and your delivery of 1 GB memory will be wasted anyway. 64 bit OS is useful when you use more than 5 GB at least. 4 GB don't you will not benefit.

Good thing of 2 x 2 GB is the real mode double channel, while 2 + 1 GB allows not just dual channel mode, it is not full.

You can google for more information if you want.

What is memory addressable max for XP Home Edition?

4 GB is the maximum taken in charge, 'accessible to your programs' lies between 2.5 and 3.75 GB - with all that above 3.25 GB being questionable.

Though - most of the people who have Windows XP Home will probably never use even a 1 GB full - even with a shared memory video card.

  • XPS-200 [and Dimension 5150C] memory addressable issue...

I have a question on a very old PC - Dell XPS-200, Intel D 820 2.8 GHz, BIOS A07 - I am fixing to the top for a friend. Windows 7 Professional installed a 64 bit version of the operating system and properties system reports it as a 64-bit system. However, it shows that, although 4 GB of RAM is installed only 3.2 GB is used which is a message that I expect to see on a system 32-bit.

As the Council and the processor are both 64-bit components I am at a loss as to why he is not seeing all of the 4 GB of RAM. There use a graphics Radeon HD 5450 and BIOS is set to allow only a very small amount of RAM so I don't think that's it.  According to the Intel chip plug the CPU has a 64-bit set statement and supports the extensions of physical memory on 32-bit, which allows him to address more than 4 GB.

It seems to work OK and I know that if push comes to shove I can install a 32-bit system. But I understand why it is not recognizing all of the RAM and if there is any kind of patch/fix/update available for this machine that allows him to recognize all the 4 GB of RAM.

When the XPS-200 [and Dimension 5150C] was introduced at Christmas 2005 were not a lot of choice of 64-bit hardware, so it came with a 32 bit OS, but I see he got an update of the BIOS in January 2007 which I would have guessed had to add extra CPU/RAM support but I can't find anything that describes what the A07 update was intended to do.

Other suggestions from trash, use 32 bit, etc - I already understand these options :) - I hope that someone has enough technical familiarity with this machine/architecture to respond definitively to know if there is anything I can do to get it to recognize all the 4 GB of RAM.

Thanks in advance for your help,

PENTIUM D 945 chip sets not 5150/E510.   However, it will work well for 64-BIT windows 7 8 or 10 in a precision 380.

  • Tecra M7 memory upgrade question

Hello everyone, I would like to upgrade the RAM on my Tecra M7, which came with 1 GB and is supposed to get a free site available. Since the system's maximum memory is 4 GB, I guess you can use up to 2GB stick into each slot.

My question is: can I have a 1 + 2 GB configuration (with / 3GB in total) or modules should be combined for better performance (1 + 1 GB) DDR2? I read somewhere something memory dual channel working only with identical memory modules, but I'm not an expert so I don't know?

    Any idea anyone?
    RADO

Of course, you can mix the sizes of memory. It s nothing unusual!
You can use different memory module sizes, but you should be 100% sure that both modules supports the same specifications as DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200)

  • Satellite A105-S4064: memory upgrade Questions

    Hello

I plan on upgrading the ram in my Toshiba A105-S4064 (preinstalled with 512 MB). I wanted to discover a few questions, if I could.

First of all, what RAM would be compatible to install in housing, no?

Second, the size of the new RAM should be the same as the RAM that is already installed (in other words, 512 MB)?

In addition, only adding the new RAM to a laptop invalid warranty Toshiba?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello

I see that you have several questions about upgrading memory on your A105
OK I'll try to make the best, I hope ;)

Firstly you can upgrade the memory and the warranty still valid
Upgrading memory hasn t any bad influence on the validity of the guarantee

Second, you can mix the sizes of memory. … for example, you can use 256 + 512 or 512 + 1024 MB, etc.
This is possible because you can upgrade it to 4 GB max

And now finally something you kind of compatible modules it looks like you could use a DDR2 PC2-4200 533 MHz modules

I hope this info will help you :)

  • Satellite L35 memory installation question

I'm upgraded memory in my laptop of buddies, but for all intensive purposes, it will be here on out considered a mine.

The toshiba satellite L35 originally supplied with 1 x 512 MB of RAM, 6 months, I have improved, putting 1x1gb stick in and keeping the 512 to so (it has worked well for all the time I got it). I decided to upgrade again and bought 1x2gb stick.

When I put in, I put 2 GB key on the slot 0 (correct me if this is the wrong term for the slot in the bottom when the laptop upside down) and the stick of 1 GB in slot 1.
When I started the computer should only 1.87 for the RAM, then it should be a little less than 3 years.
I tried all the combinations involving the stick 2 GB
2 GB to location 0, 1 GB in slot 1
2 GB in location 1, 1 GB in slot 0
2 GB at location 0, 512 MB at 1 location
2 GB in slot 1, 512 MB at location 0

For all this he appears as 1.87, no matter where the 2 GB is and what else is there with her.

the 512 MB (original computer) is hynix 512 MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200
the 1 GB (updated 6 months ago) is kingston KVR667D1S0/1 GR
    2 GB (brand new) is DDRII533 G.Skill PC2-4200 (F2-4200CL4S-2GBSQ)

I am gets mixed responses from crucial.com and memoryx.net all this notebook can handle.
So my question, I guess... I have to send the G.Skill back and get a different 2 GB? What is the compatibility issue?
Should I get a kingston? Or I just do something wrong.

Thank you guys and thanks for the forum in general, I looked here for instructions on how to install memory in a laptop, I've only done so far, desktop computers so I was puzzled and didn't break anything.

    Hello

The L35 unknown for me. It seems to be a series of laptop designed for the American market.
But the L30 is known to me and I know the L30 is very similar to the L35.

However, the point is that the RAM can be upgraded only up to 2GB.
This means that you can use a 1 GB module in a slot.
A upper memory module size is not supported by the memory locations and therefore the laptop shows about 1.87 GB RAM.

Hope this helps to explain the problem.

    Best regards

  • Equium A60-692: memory upgrade question

Hi, I want to improve my memory. I wanted to add a memory of 1 GB on the extra slot but I wanted to be sure that I'm looking for, I don't know much about it and I want to ensure I have buy one that is compatible with everything. If someone knows something about this answer please.
    Thank you

    Hello

Well, you're first time here in the forum ;) Welcome!

Now to your question. AFAIK the Equium A60-692 was delivered with an internal memory of 256 MB. This module cannot be deleted.
Additional memory location is available and you can upgrade the memory for max 1280MB (256 MB + 1024 MB) in this case, you can use a 1 024 MB module.

You use PC2100 DDR - RAM memory modules.
Also, I found one that you can use without any problems. The reference is: 1024Mo PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

  • HP Pavilion dv7t Entertainment PC Memory Upgrade Question

Product name: HP Pavilion dv7t-2000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC

    PRODUCT # NB444AV

OSOriginally installed: Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium

Currently installed OS: Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium

When I bought the laptop, HP included a "FREE upgrade to 4 GB DDR2 memory (2 Dimm) 2 GB DDR2 memory (2 Dimm) system system'. I don't check then. Now, when it is slow, I checked the memory installed by 'Start-> computer-> (right click)-> properties-> installed memory (RAM). It shows that 2 GB.

I'm baffled why it shows only 2 GB of RAM now, when HP was supposed to install 4 GB. In any case, I would like to upgrade memory now.  I have referred to as "HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment PC. Maintenance and Service Guide "."  He describes the memory Module as:

My question: can I use a 4 GB Kit (2GBx2) DDR2 800 MHz (PC2-6400) SODIMM 200 pin notebook Modules memory in the crack avialable? Memory at 800 MHz won't be compatible with 667 MHZ memory?

I can't install module memory 2 x 4 GB to 8 GB? Will it be recognized by the card mother/BIOS/Windows?

Thank you for your expert advice.

    You are the very welcome.

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01689926.PDF

Please see Chapter 4, page 54.

It seems to me that there are two memory slots (one almost on top of the other). Take a look at the illustration.

This is why the memory in Chapter 1 specifications indicate that you can install up to 8 GB of memory (2 x 4 GB).

You can install a single chip PC2-6400 4 GB and leave the one you have in there now.

It comes to the module memory 4 GB good cheaper brand I could find.

  • HP Probook b 6450 memory upgrade question

    Hi all

I seem to have a strange question seeks to upgrade the memory in a HP 6450 b probook (i5 - 480 m & ATI card). The laptop came with 2 GB of sps p/n 598856-002, which is ram 1333 mhz 1.5V with the manufacturer being ramaxel. I ordered and installed a few sticks of kingston 4 GB

    http://h30094.www3.HP.com/product/SKU/10473659/mfg_partno/KTH-X3BS/4G

Mounted to them and all appeared to be as well as the operating system (win 7 32 bit pro) showed the recognized as 8 GB stick and 3 GB usable, the bios also reported 8 GB as well. However the moment that a 64 bit OS (Linux or Windows) is tempted to run just the laptop falls down or crashes

I already tried this upgrade with two sticks of crucial memory but had exactly the same problem, so think about crucial memory was the question I put to the supplier and ordered the kingstons rather.

I saw very similar question mentioned here:

    http://www.TomsHardware.co.UK/Forum/328016-30-memory-upgrade-ProBook

    and

    http://superuser.com/questions/580512/HP-ProBook-6450b-not-booting-after-memory-upgrade

My instinct suggests this notebook can be very picky about the memory chips, it may have to be a 4 GB key 16 chip versus chip 8 4 GB sticks.

Thoughts and help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    You are the very welcome.

Yes, I have never, ever install any module of memory in my notebooks from HP that does not 16 chips.

All the chips I use - 2 gigs and up, have 16 chips (8 on each side).

    Never had a problem.

  • Physical Memory Dump questions - how do I fix it?

original title: dump of physical memory

I am not at all computer savvy, I know how to activate and use the every - word, internet basics. I don't know where post a question so if it is in the wrong place please excuse my mistake.

I have computer problems... physical memory dump.  It seems this is a common problem so why microsoft does not have a free repair to fix the problem.  If there is one, please report it.  If there is no repair Microsoft how to make fixing it without having to pay $50?  Thank you

When a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) the system failure occurs, for most users, there not enough time to fully record what he says. the exact text is important for anyone trying to diagnose what is wrong. You can save time when the error occurs then by following the procedure described below.

If you already did it disable the auto reboot system error. This should help by allowing the time to write the code to Stop error and related information correctly. Select Start, do a right-click on computer select Properties, advanced, system settings startup and recovery, system failure and uncheck the box before automatically restarting. Re-do not enable automatic restart in the event of system failure after obtaining this information, this setting is the best left to not allow an automatic restart.

If the failure occurs during the initialization of the computer, you need to try a different approach. You can access the Advanced Options Menu of Windows on multiple computers by constantly pressing the F8 (key) key when starting and selecting the option - disable automatic restart in case of system error. This method is not always easy to use because it may be difficult to press the F8 key at the right time. Try again if it doesn't work the first time. On some computers, a different key must be used.

  • 9150 memory Upgrade - Question once again

    Good day to all,

I have 2, Dimension 9150 who receive upgrades. The first machine was fine with OS WIN 7 / 32 PRO. Updated BIOS (A07), not installed the required software, no problem, everything no problem. RAID driver install also, no problem. Problem I have is the memory upgrade. Get machine 2 update, but not until this problem is resolved.

Been revised post old topic of memory and still has not found an absolute remedy to my question. Machine (1 and 2) are 2 GB; 4 512 PC2-4200 (all locations showing on bios config).  I installed 4; 1 GB PC2-5300. Problem? Must not like system accepts 4 GB maximum and is also accepted speed Max.

My problem is 2 GB in slot 1-2 (white) are good, no problems (boots to windows without error beeps). Check the BIOS and find sticks of memory are reading fix it. When I add the other 2 sticks of 3-4 (black), error on boot beeps and lights 1-3 lights telling me memory error.

I recently updated a dimension 4700 and used memory not dell Komputer Bay. Could see all the modules and showed 3.76, so I bought the same memory for this machine. I know that in the past, Dell machines are "FINICKY" when it comes to memory.

Is this the case? If so, Crucial memory has been discussed and I might add 2 (2 GB each)? That's what I was not able to see the answers. Part of the crucial says Yes, post only memory. The other Yes was that I could use sticks of 2 GB. Spec note 1 GB is max stick, per slot.

I am at a loss, if you're looking for an idea on a direction.

Yes, low density 2 rank INTEL chipset compatible ram works fine. The other way to say it isn't that 380 Precsion ecc ram works fine.   The GX620 has the same problem where we will see more ram by the bios but total ram is limited to 4 concerts by the chipset.  Upgrade to a precision 380 allows a full 8 gigabytes of ram.

You could put 4 x 2 gig and he would show even in the bios but the ram would not be usable and the machine does not start with 64 bit OS.

  • vCloud Director IP address question

After the installation, I'm having a problem with being aligned to the correct network IP addresses.

    Here's my current network topoogy:

    10.0.0.0/24 - network management

    10.0.6.0/24 - external network connectivity

Here the Access console vCloud be 10.0.0.10 and access for the HTTP Service 10.0.6.10

But during the installation I noticed that therefore weaker as the HTTP service, in my case it would be 10.0.0.10 which isn't what I want.  I have my network TPSP.

So after installing I think I woud change IPs, I get the article on how to do, but it does not work when I try to run:

    vcloud-db-user/vcloud-db-user-password sqlplus

    I get an error:

You may need to set ORACLE_HOME in your Oracle software directory

What is everything?  I have little experience with Oracle, so not sure what they want to do me.

I saw another article and he told me to "mkdir $ORACLE_HOME/oradata ' so I did and that you always get the same question.

    Any ideas?

According to the procedure described in the VMware KB to change the IPs vCD is the right approach. Change the values in the form of public addresses in the user interface will not cause the Java process bind to different IP addresses, it dictates only which will show the responses of the API instead of the current host name or IP address of the machine at the request and for the console.

This particular KB entry was originally created for vCD 1.0, which has supported only Oracle DB. So the first question is, you use Oracle or SQL Server?

If you use Oracle, the instructions you have use the sqlplus Oracle client to connect to the database of vCD and change the necessary values. Usually on a properly configured Oracle DB machine environment (shell) is configured such that the user can run the sqlplus command directly. If this isn't the case, you'll want to review Oracle DB documentation and make the appropriate changes. Note that you don't have to get the DB machine as long as you have a form any customer Oracle (SQL Plus, SQL Developer, etc.) available and has network connectivity to the Oracle instance hosting the database of vCD.

If you use SQL Server, you must use a client tool such as SQL Server Management Studio to connect to the database and to make the updates described.
