  In the current Mac OS x versions, Apple realized that the FREE RAM is not useful for anything whatsoever. What is needed is "instantly available RAM", and they began to be implemented in a number of ways. Free-ing RAM is no longer applicable.

  Some of your RAM may be used by an element called cache. These are copies of files read previously, in the hope that you will need to see again them soon. This RAM is said to be immediately available when an Application makes a request for the new RAM. In addition, little RAM is compressed. If it is referenced, Mac OS X can decompress a lot faster than to a new reading of the disc.

  The important point to look at the activity monitor is graphics memory. If it is not green, you may have to look more carefully at how you use your Mac and its RAM. The telltale signs that you need more are using PageOuts or Swap (but these counters start at zero at the start, so if you have worked for days, some will have invariably been used).

  There is no need to keep the old backup, you can keep just two or three more recent.

  You can even change the storage location of backup when the backup only and can ask Lightroom to create the backup on the external drive.

  Start the computer with the command and r keys. When I get to the step of copy the Macintosh HD on the JetDrive in disk utility, I can't drag and drop the Macintosh HD in the box and it is grayed out.
