  I have a catalog covering the modified and modified files covering a period of time until the end of 2013.  I have an another catalog covering the same period and the most recent files at the present time.  The first changed files that have been made in a way not forward (the files were, but not mods) when I switched to a new machine and subsequently more photos for 2014 adds to the existing batch.  I had never used XMPs to store the mods - my mistake, now corrected for the future.  Is it possible to merge a catalog in another or both in a new catalog and keep the latest mods for all files?  If not, can I export the changed files in a catalog, and then import them in the most recent two catalogues with all the included files?

  I think that I found the definitive answer, in The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom book, the chapter on the merger of two catalogs into one. The trick is to create a new master catalog that starts in white, shoot in the first catalog (does not move the files), then it repeats with the second catalogue, which will search for and avoid the dupes, yet once again move the files.  The end result is a catalog of master handset, with files and all changes for all files in the two catalogues.  It worked for me.  Thank you, you were thinking in the right direction.

  I guess, but I think that what you want is an oval section of an image to another image? If so, then the bottom image should not be hidden and does not even need to be considered. Think that as background.

  Try this instead:

  1. Turn off the visibility of the lower background image, so it does not distract you.
  2. Make an ellipse white vector with the proportions that you want and position on the area of the image that you want a oval. You can adjust the opacity of the vector ellipse to help with positioning, but make sure you set the opacity to 100%.
  3. Selects the image and the ellipse, and then click Modify > mask > Group as mask.
  4. Turn on the visibility of your background image and position your masked image.  (I think that gives you what you want).

  Your vector mask must be white in this case. A white area in a mask will be opaque hidden object. A black or transparent area in a mask will make the hidden sector transparent. A gray or semitransparent box in a mask will be proportionally semi-transparent hidden object.

  Whatever it is, you need the string aggregation . See this page from the Oracle Base for several ways to do so. Since you have Oracle 10 and because the order is not important, I recommend so the aggregate function defined by the user, called STRING_AGG on that page, but the STRAGG called by most of the people who actually use it. Once you have created the STRAGG, you can use it like this:

  I found a good bit of code on how to merge two files with iTextSharp pdf, but I have Acrofields on several forms that I want to merge, and using the examples I found that the fields are not present in the final file.

  I'll go out and buy the book iText, but I'm a bit surprised how difficult it is to find examples of it - it must come all the time.

  I have several PDFs with acrofields on them, I want to be able to mix and match shapes in a single large pdf file. Ideally this would be in a memory stream not a file, but I can handle that part.

  PS looking at your screenshots the best screenshots seem to show a folder hierarchy. This isn't a catalog but simply the folder with your originals in it structure. The second screenshot appears to show three different catalogues files and another folder, probably with pictures inside.

No problem, really, except that I have somehow added to and then edited into two catalogues. This week realized my mistake. I don't know how to return to a single catalog. Each catalog has now has hundreds of unique files and publishes, in addition to the 50 k + files that existed before my error. I need all files and changes; If I merge the two catalogs, I keep all the data? I was about to try an approach of the worksheet using ListView of John Beardsworth plugin, exported to a spreadsheet and calculate unique values, but it is perhaps a bigger than the fusion learning curve, especially if I can keep all changes. I looked at the fusion of information on the pages of LR, but I think I need more information about what the merger is doing with all the data. I want to be sure before proceeding. Similar experiences?

  The merger would not affect the collections. All collections should be there in this merged catalog.

  In order to filter images that have different metadata (it comes to virtual copies):

  1. Select the folder under which you want to search for virtual copies, or you can select all the photos under catalog Panel.

  2. click on menu Photo > stacking > expand all stacks

  3. click on menu library > filter by genre > virtual Copies

  You can use a large part of the script that was posted in the other thread and create a personalized out of it. In fact, it makes the script easier to understand, because all the "stuff" that is about adding menus and elevate the rights of scripts is no longer necessary.

  Given the instructions in my blog, you should be able to create this custom command and run it. To run it, the important part is that you load the 'weird' part of the document first, then launch the custom command and then select the item "same" document.

  Combination of two images requires another program like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or some other software pixel editing program. If you have two different exposures to different contexts and use Lightroom 6 or Lightroom CC you have an option to use Photomerge and choose merge to HDR. But the part that there is no way to combine the two images using only Lightroom.

It is not saved anywhere that I can see as a catalog on my computer. If I didn't save it before opening the oldest catalog (I don't remember specifically save anything) would it save in another format, other than a catalog somewhere?

  What happens if you choose file-> to open the new item? Another catalog is listed, and you can choose it? Simply switch to a different catalogue may not cause the previous catalogue to disappear.

  I don't know any way in XP except by specialist partition management software. I use Acronis Disk Director, but it costs! There may be some freebies autour but none I have meet in so I wouldn't comment on their reliability and efficiency, or even their ability to do what you want.
