Mgmt-vmware restart-> "Host Agent Watchdog" has no!

Hi all

I had the problem that an ESX Server was red and I couldn't control this vCenter ESX host more.

I did the following things:

ps - ef | grep vmware - pass

Kill - 9 & lt; ID of process & gt;

service mgmt-vmware restart

now, I've seen the following thing:

Stopping VMware ESX Server management services:

VMware ESX Server Host Agent Watchdog VMware ESX Server Host Agent

Starting VMware ESX Server management services:

VMware ESX Server Host Agent is already running

Availability report startup (background)

I would like to manage my VM in the vCenter, but for the moment I could not do that...

Any ideas? Workarrounds?

OK, enter a start, look at your var/log/vmware/hostd.log.  How far does go?  You can attach to a post as well.

Yes, a hard reset of the server will probably solve the problem.  It seems that pass may have crashed.

  • service mgmt-vmware restart

We need regularly to restart the management console service of the following on the command line

    Service mgmt-vmware restart

Before that, I checked that virtual machines are not configured to automatically put in power when this command is executed (by entering the virtual center server and clicking ESX Server, and then click configuration/VirtualMachine start stop and check that it is disabled)

I don't want that to carry out the VMs and ESX Server - is there anything else I need to check?

I read one thread that says THAT HA should be disabled? Is this correct?

  • 'service mgmt-vmware restart' in an installation script.

    Hello

like many propably you do, I do 'service mgmt-vmware restart' in a script installation.

I need this because I want to use vmware-vim-cmd ommands.

When the mgmt-vmware restart 'service' is executed, the complete installation stops and is right there.

When I do a "service mgmt-vmware restart' manully of a session SSH, no problems.

When I do a "service mgmt-vmware restart' to a console session (HP Iloé) the problem becomes clearer.

During the restart, the screen moves the "to open a session to the ESX Server...". Press ALT - F1 etc."- screen

When I press ALT - F1 I re - enter my session again and see the result of the command "service mgmt-vmware restart '.

But clearly it's killing my script because it cannot continue.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    BTW: ESX 3.5 U3

    Thank you and best regards,

    Harold

Other users I know orders vmkernel put in a file to run at startup and not during the kickstart himself.  Put all your commands in a script and have /etc/rc.local run at startup and then remove the rc.local.

  • Service mgmt-vmware restart causes the virtual machine downtime

I'm looking in the configuration of SNMP on our ESX for Solarwinds alert guests, and is the last step I have to restart the service mgmt-vmware.

I looked around online and have been unable to find confirmation that it will not have all the time with the virtual machines running on those hosts, as production machines.

    We run ESX v4.1.0

    Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the Forums!

  • Restart Management Agents... now does not

    Hi guys

    I had to do some troubleshooting and recommendations I restarted management agents (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1003490( )

To restart the management on the ESX host agents:

    1. Mgmt-vmware restart the service.

    2. service vmware-vpxa restart.

but after that my host is red and shows does not and all the VMs disconnected say system...

    How can I recover it?

    Thank you very much

This is normal and should recover in a few minutes.  You should always be able to connect to your guests and the host without any problem.  Restart management agents to disconnect and reconnect the host and VM on and in the inventory.

  • Host disconnected from Vcenter. cannot restart both agents

    Hello

    Following this thread: http://communities.VMware.com/message/1993369#1993369

After 1:30 the host where the rescan HBAS was issued, became disconnected from Vcenter.

I tried to restart the agent from the console, but he was hanged.

I happened to have logged on esx, so I stopped the agents and restarted, but it hung for 1 / 2 h from "usbsarbitrator." I left.

Looks like I need to restart the server, but I have the feeling that all the virtual machine running (OK for now) on this topic will be off and restarts automatically via DRS at best or not at all, if for some reason any DRS does not work (because of the issue of the host).

To make matter worse, vcenter is running on this host at the moment.

Is there a way to 'reconnect' vcenter to host this way can I vmotion all the VM on it before restarting the host?

    Thanks in advance

Is you are using ESXi version connect the host using putty and run below command

    restart the /sbin/services.sh

  • Cannot start the VMWare host agent service

I worked on this issue for awhile with no resolution.  Initially, I had a problem running VMWare Server Home Page so I installed the VMWare Server Console and the error when trying to launch the Console VMWare Server on the same server VMWare Server is installed and connect locally:

501 command overall GLOBAL Server-vmdb targets no host agent not supported.

Came to the conclusiong that it was the result of the function of Agent Host VMware is not able to start.

    IBM BladeCenter HT chassis

    IBM eServer HS21 - 8853AC1

    NetXtreme Broadcom5704S

    2 x Quad Core Intel Xeon E5440 2.83 GHz

Initially, I installed VMWare Server 2.0 and then upgraded to 2.0.1 to see if that would solve the issue but always without success.

    Event Viewer message:

Host VMware Agent service terminated with service specific error 4294967295 (0XFFFFFFFF)

    Not tried so far:

    1. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times without success

    2. Tried to manually start the VMWare host Agent

    3. Tried the upgrade to VMWARE 2.0 VMWARE 2.0.1

    4. Tried to uninstall and reinstall

    5. Tried to launch the service as ADMINISTRATOR

It is the only VMWare Server service that does not start... I Googled, and I can't find a resolution to this problem.

Check this solution or search the Internet: "panic error: not well formed (invalid token)" (sorry, I don't have the time to search for you now).

BTW. If IIS is installed and running, try to stop and start the vmware agent

  • Host Agent VMWare fails to start - how to start?

How can I start this if she fails to start automatically?  I just upgraded VMware 1.01 to 2.0 and will have a little trouble with my system error newspaper have reported this fault, which I believe, other threads may be the cause of my browser does not connect to the remote server.  Also, I installed VMWare Server2.0 but did not receive a prompt at any time for my License key, this will happen after I get the host agent VMWare started?

Try to create a new empty virtual machine and turn it - if you can do that, then you have a valid license.

You can see which license you have entered by clicking on the 'Application' menu, then "enter serial number" when the host is selected according to the directives of the attached screenshot.

  • Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working

Is a general Vista problem and also a general problem of Thinkpad, but it has what I feel to be a frequency among the W500s so I thought to post it here.

In recent weeks, I got this error (Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working) several times. A lot of googleing will tell you that it can be caused by a number of things, for example other video programs, Nero burning software, video codecs and burning software and the ATI catalyst control center.

For me, uninstalling the ATI catalyst control center and the rest of the correction of the error of video card drivers. Resettlement has reduced. Uninstall them and then only by reinstalling the driver first, then check catalytic Center later after another reboot all reinstalled successfully and also got rid of the error.

However, two days ago I updated my lenovo Power Manager and after the next restart, I started getting this error again. I tried the trick with video drivers, but this time I was not so lucky. Uninstall them completely is not even get rid of the error. I think only it is the new power manager I uninstalled everything and somehow got rid of the error.

I'm about to reinstall the power manager and I hope he's not bring error.

Another thing, I found that can cause this error:

I'd just do a fresh install of vista and lenovo apps + Manager supply and everything worked. Since I never use the optical drive, I went to the Device Manager and disabled, which gave me the error Rundll32.exe about 60 seconds later, and this caused again Manager power to stop working, even after that it recharges.

I finally understand that disabling my optical drive Springs somehow this error on me which then also stops Power Manager. The optical drive from the reactivation got rid of the error immediately.

  • Windows host process Rundll32 has stopped working ONLY at startup on the desktop.

When I start my Dell Inspiron 531 after that sign in the screen will Dim twice for a few seconds then the Windows host process Rundll32 has stopped working window appears. If you close another small window exactly the same error message mentioned above tells you that Windows will look for a solution but NEVER done. I use AOL version 9.0, I can sign and the big surf for dial-up access. I tried to download free Kaspersky on their site and an error message said it was incomplete or corrupted. I have Windows Security Essentials, Stopzilla, CCleaner, Glary Utilities, you run sfc/scannow, it cleaned up a few files and he tells me that he has no integrity problem after 4 scans. The big short PC but what the _ is causing this Rundll32 error and why is there NO information specific on how to solve this problem? Also Internet Explorer cascades tiles and diverts the PC sometimes force a quick stop, it's really weird to see, very rare but happens. Systerac Fix of Windows crashes after starting an analysis on current user files, really strange, as if something is trying to stop him on purpose. I wish that Microsoft would really worry about the Rundll32 error of work ceased and tell us customers how to fix this shit it is very boring I'll tell you. I want that my host process Rundll32 to work as it did for the past 2 years with no error message at startup. He never gives me these messages while I use the Internet. There are many pages of misinformation out there, can some Microsoft Engineer please give me that a definitive answer in particular to the Windows host process Rundll32 has ceased to function the error at startup ONLY and tell me how to fix Rundll32 file or the process, it would be greatly appreciated? Thank you. Woman
