  I am trying to load the scanner driver for HP color LaserJet 2840 via the network. When I got to the driver download page, I have two choices. We're driver HP color LaserJet 2820/2840 PCL6, the other is HP color LaserJet 2820/2840 PCL6 Plug and scan/print driver Solution play I don't know which I should choose. So I downloaded both.

I have correctly installed the driver HP color LaserJet 2820/2840 PCL6. But I do not know if the driver drives the scanner. And I could not print any test page either. There are a lot of .inf files in the directory. I had no idea which one I should choose. Also, I tried to run the EZInstall.exe, but it seems to only support direct connection via USB and not via the network.

  One supports network connections, the other being a pilot plug-and-play (PnP) is configured to initialize and works with a USB connection.

  If the answer to your question is not a short or easy to answer, but here's the information you need make a basis to develop a response.  Are you just planning 802. 11 b / g or 802. 11 has also? What diameter of cable you plan to use?

  Typical cable options

  LMR - 200 has a loss of .165db/ft or 1.6db by 10 ft @ 2.4 Ghz and a loss of .264db/ft or 2.6db by 10 ft to 5 Ghz more than 1 DB of loss for connections. Cable LMR-200 is approximately 1/4 "in diameter (typical antenna cable) but that the connector is approximately 1/2" (typical RP - TNC plug)

  LMR - 400 has a loss of... 066db/ft or 0.6db by 10 ft to 2.4 Ghz and a loss of .109db/ft or 1.1db by 10 ft to 5 Ghz more than 1 DB of loss for connections. LMR-400 cable is approximately 1/2 "in diameter, but the connector is approximately 3/4" (typical RP - TNC plug)

  So to calculate the end result here is how you do it.

  The AP transmitted Power - Connector loss - loss in the Cable + antenna Gain = radiated isotropic power (WORST) * Note: EIRP must not exceed 30 dB

  So lets run 2 scenarios with this information: 802. 11 b is power 100 MW (20 dB), power 802.11 g is 30mw (14db), 802. 11A power of 40 MW (17db) is antenna is 6db to 802. 11b / g, 5db to 802. 11A and you cable length is 20 feet.

  No scenario of cable

  802 11 b--> 20db + 6 dB = 26db = 400mw

  802.11 g--> 17db + 6 dB = 23db = 200mw

  802. 11A--> 17db + 5db = 22 dB = 150mw

  With cable LMR-200 (the numbers are close, but not exactly)

  802 11 b--> 20db - 1db - 3.2db + 6 dB = 22 dB = 150mw

  802.11 g--> 17db - 1db - 3.2db + 6 dB = 19db = 80mw

  802. 11A--> 17db - 1db - 3.2db + 5db = 18 dB = 60mw

  As you can see 20 feet of cable drastically reduced the power of access points. FCC regulations require that you stay under the 30 dB max EIRP, and for every 3db power is increased it doubles at each 3db down it is cut in half as shown below

  = 23dbm 200mW

  100MW 20dbm =

  50 MW = 17dmm

  25 MW = 14dbm
