microphone internal non-functional / sound card?

I have a gateway all-in-one and there were no problems during the past two years, that I have owned this. Now, I tried to us on Skype (I use it everyday for my business) and the microphone is released. I checked the audio settings and it says my sound card is not detected and I don't have a microphone. This computer has a microphone built into it so I never need to use a USB microphone. What happened and how do I get my mic on?

Most often when a device does not work, it is because the driver is damaged. Re-install a new copy should help

  • Microphone on the Realtek sound card reading

I have a Toshiba laptop with Realtek sound card. The operating system is Windows XP Professional SP3.

I tried to record videos from Fraps while commenting via the microphone of the laptop; as far as I know, the best way to do is allow a reading microphone on the Volume Control Panel and recording of stereo mix. However, reading of the Volume control section is missing the Microphone input. Even when I go in the Options Panel to select the playback device, all I get is Master Volume, wave, SW Synth, CD player, SPDIF and PC beep. The Realtek HD Audio Control Panel doesn't have relevant option either.

The microphone does not work correctly. My desktop computer using the same version of Windows has the corresponding section of the Volume control and it works correctly (I've used before) so it must be a problem specific to the sound card. I heard that some card manufacturers have this feature disabled in the registry due to problems of Larsen; If this is the case, is what registry key? Your comments is not a problem because I use a headset.

In a Word, what I aim for, that's what I speak into the microphone played through the speakers, and therefore be able to record in real time via stereo mix. I managed to get the correct effect using Overdub of Audacity (feedback in real time of entry in the forums), but if I set Audacity and Fraps to record from different sources (mic for Audacity, stereo mix for Fraps), Fraps puts Audacity input muted for the duration of its own record.

Unfortunately, some manufacturers of audio devices turn off or do not understand "stereo mix" or "what you hear" in their software drivers.

You really need a Pro Audio device with hardware mixing/routing facilities.
Or get a cheap Sound Blaster - better quality and they have the ' did you mean' feature.

  • How to record what is happening by the sound card without using the microphone to avoid loss of quality.

I tried, but there is no "Stereo mix" available options. There is only the (Conexant High Definition Audio) Microphone. It did not work. What I'll do is to buy a DVD for TV (tv Record program) burner and plug the hdmi cable from my computer to the DVD recorder and record what I want. After that, I just rip the audio from the file. I see no other option to do. I use windows vista Home premium.

I would like to know how I can record the sound that is played by the soundcard using Vista without using the microphone as a source. Let's say the audio is played (audio stream) and I want to record this stream. There are many software that we can download that record what is happening in the microphone. The sound bounces off the speakers to the microphone. But when this happens, you lose a lot of the quality of the audio. So my question is if it is possible to record what is happening to the right of the sound card, before being sent to the sound card in order to avoid the loss of audio quality.

  • Help! Latitude D830, NONE of the drivers sound card works!

I am ready to never touch a Dell again... It is the last resort. Outside driver imprecise downloads and a way to show the pilots should be together, if the forums do not solve my problem, GG Dell.

OK needed that little bit of frustration on the situation at hand.

    Laptop: Latitude D830

    OS: Windows XP Pro SP3

    Problem:? Other devices?

    Data interface

    Data interface

    Ethernet controller

    PCI device

These are the things that apparently have no drivers available for download from the dell website?   My biggest problem is solid... I'm going to assume that "PCI Device" is the sound card, but I assumed prior it was integrated as a result would not be PCI. I tried all the drivers its unique card which = Latitude D830 / 32-bit of Windows XP.  Whenever I try to install the driver, it fails and indicates that the system is wrong etc.

I changed the BIOS, etc. It is a problem very very very very very very very very very frustrating because there seems to be no one else with this problem, and if there is someone so I was not able to find a thread about it.  Please help me before go me crazy.

I was wondering do you know sound card drivers who recognize the sound card for the d830 with win 7

The D830 has Sigmatel audio hardware. The company went bankrupt before Win 7 but you can install the Sigmatel Vista version R171788 in compatibility mode.

Download the driver package and extract the files (unzip or decompress and take note of the name of the folder created) but cancel the installation process. Go to the folder on the hard disk to which you have unpacked the driver files
    c:\Dell\Drivers\Rxxxxxx

Find the setup.exe file and right-click on it. Select Properties. Find the Compatibility tab and select Vista.

    Method 3:

I suggest you try these steps,

Step 1: Using Windows Sound Recorder to test the microphone.

You can use this section to find out if the computer can record a signal from the

Microphone and play again. Use Windows sound recorder to create an audio file using the following steps:

    a. Click Start, all programs, accessories, and then click Sound Recorder.

    b. click start recording and speak into the microphone.

When you are finished recording, click on stop recording.

    Screen automatically opens.

Type a file name and click Save. A type WAV or WMA file is created in the Documents folder.

If you can record the Audio using the Microphone using the method above then theMicrophone works well.
Now, it should work in any application that Supports Microphone. If the computer records the audio using the method above, then it might be a problem with the Microphone settings. Now, check the following settings.

    Step 2: activating the Microphone.

    a. Click Start, all programs, accessories, and then click Sound Recorder.

    b. click start recording and speak into the microphone.

    c. Recording tab showing a signal detected for the Microphone device

Note: must have green check mark on that Microphone icon. Is no green check mark, this means that it is disabled. If there is no green mark on micro it never works. To activate the Microphone, right click on Microphone and click Activate. If you do not see the Microphone in the list, right click on the white space and select devices see the disabled. Then, you'd see the Microphone. However, if you don't see the green check mark on it, right-click on it and click Activate. Select Microphone and click on set as default (if defined as default button is active).

If you see the green checkmark on Microphone the Microphone really works.

Step 3: Increase the Microphone sensitivity and non-disabling the Microphone.

    a. Select Microphone and click the properties button.

    b. move the slider up to 100% of its range.

    c. If the mute is enabled, click the button mute to reactivate the device.

    d. If the Microphone Boost is available, amplify the volume.

    e. click OK to make the changes.

It's a good deal and they go up from there. USB sound cards do not receive electronic interference a lot as the one inside the chassis.

In fact, I have a collection of these because I used to do some recording and edition of the work. I stopped using them because the cards his edge in laptops and desktop computers got very good these days.

If the problem is currently recording using an external microphone or tries to use the built-in function? For any serious recording, you will need to get a decent helmet.

  • Location of sound card

Where is the port of the sound card? Is this the same as the microphone port?

    Hi selkie305,

The location of the sound card depends on the type of sound card on the computer.

There are three types of sound cards: sound cards, built on the motherboard of your computer and maps its internal and external.

You connect the microphone Jack Mic-in/digital (input\output) which is part of the sound card line out port. Basically, microphone port is port of the sound card.

  • VMware 6 / tools / iMac sound card

Sorry if this is a long post, but I think that some experience is necessary.

Before the other day, I was running Win/XP SP3 under Fusion 5 on my iMac 27 ", which has OS X 10.7.5. On the Win/XP client I run a radio ham app only Windows called NaP3. My ham radio transmitter is connected to the XP guest via the USB port (1) for the mode and frequency of the controls and Line In jack (2) the iMac at the back. The radio has a specific output port that is somehow as a microphone - hard to explain here. In any case, data coming into the Line In Jack are entered by the NaP3 application that produces a graphical display of a 'segment' of the frequency band which is granted to radio. This allows the user to 'see' where there are stations operating on this band without having to tune painfully through the search of the band. The application of NaP3 has the ability to display up to 192 kHz, a frequency value 'segment' at the same time. Note that I said "up to". It turns out that bed in the "sound card" in the iMac is capable of only 48 kHz of bandwidth. I tried an external USB sound card (E-MU 0204) and who failed miserably in the VMware/Mac/WinXP environment. So, I settled on only the width of 48 kHz displayed. Still really good and way better than not getting the app works not at all. Il - worked very well.

A few days ago, I said 'uncle' and decided to go to Win 8. My first step was to move to 6 Fusion. Then, I built a new guest of Windows 8, improved to 8.1 Windows, my installed applications, installed the VMware tools and tried NaP3. Ugh - now, instead of see 48 kHz is of the frequency spectrum, I only see 15-20 or more. Tried all sorts of combinations in the application configuration, but couldn't get that 48 kHz transparent back. Then, to try to see exactly what were my settings on the XP client, I close comments 8.1 Win and booted up the having previously worked with Windows/XP. The first thing he did was to re - install VMware tools on the guest XP - it was the first time that comments had been executed on merger 6. After the tools have been installed, I shot to the top of my request of NaP3. Well, shit - NOW it gives me the same lousy screen of 15 to 20 kHz. I'm very, very heavily leaning on the problem being VMware 6 itself or the tools. When it came on Fusion 5 everything worked. Now it's on 6 with the tools of the V6 and it works not on Win/XP or Win 8.1.

Does anyone have an idea of what can be defined in OS X or merge that will tell this "sound card" internal system actually capable of providing 48 kHz, with a value of audio and not 15-20 as it does now? In its current form, the application is pretty useless with only this type of audio response.

Thank you, Jim (ham FCC licensed W6JHB op)

Fixed! Given that I had gotten no answer on the forum, I started to dive more deeply into what was going on. I found an app on the Mac called setting up Audio and MIDI. This app has the necessary controls to set the sampling frequency audio device. Mine was set to 16 kHz. I have no idea (1) (2) how and why my app NaP3 never worked before showing me of 48 kHz, but she did. I changed the sampling of 48,000 and the application of NaP3 now shows me all the 48 kHz of bandwidth. Just for grins, I tried sampling rates higher, but there was no change - so I guess this Built In thing in the iMac has a maximum sampling frequency of 48 kHz. Anyway, I'm a happy camper and it is resolved!
