• Printer with Windows Vista installation issues?

  I recently had the hard drive on my Compaq CQ50 replaced.  I am running Vista Home Premium.  I went to the respective websites of the manufacturers of my printers and downloaded the drivers for them.  Printers have been installed according to the "Assistant", but I'm unable to print using them.  I get the message to install the drivers for the respective printers whenever I get on the computer, but he does not see the printer drivers which I downloaded earlier.  I have installed and uninstalled printers, deleted the printer and re downloaded drivers without success.

  If there is no administrator account on the system, you should be able to boot in Safe Mode and use the built-in Administrator account. This account is designed to be used in emergencies when no other administrator accounts are available.

  It is a simple procedure, step by step, but it's long. Print this message before you continue.

  Click the button start .
  On the bottom right side of the Start menu, click on the arrow icon.
  In the context menu, select restart.

  As soon as the screen goes black, start typing the F8 key.
  Keep tapping the button until a black screen with white lettering appears.
  It comes to the Start screen.

  Safe mode should be highlighted.
  If safe mode is not highlighted, use the arrow keys to select this option.
  Press the ENTER key.

  The computer should start at the login screen. (Be patient, this may take a few minutes)
  The login screen, you should see an account named administrator.

  Click on the administrator of account.
  There is no password for this account, then the computer should boot directly into Safe Mode.
  (Again, be patient, it will take a few minutes)

  The screen will look strange, because it is diagnostic for Windows mode.

  Once the desktop appears, you are now logged with full administrator privileges.

  Go to Start , then click Control Panel.
  On the left side of the Control Panel window, click the Classic view menu item.

  After the update of the screen, scroll down and double-click user accounts.

  In the user accounts screen, click Manage another account.
  Select the name of the account that you connect normally.

  In the Edit window, select change the account type.
  In the window choose a new type of account , click the administrator option.
  Click Change the account Type .

  Exit control panel and restart the computer.

  The account that you use should now be an administrator account.

  If I'm looking in the right place, I also see a patch 1.68. You may need to install the patch 1.68 before installing the patch 1.69. All you can really do is try and see if it works. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful at this time.

• Windows Vista crashes when configuring updates

  I am currently using a Toshiba Satellite a305-s6916 with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I had some problems with the computer so I decided to reinstall my OS and have a fresh start. I made the discs by the creator of recovery on the computer disk.

  I reinstalled my OS, got all my files and programs on the computer, then started updates. When I installed Windows Vista Service Pack 2, my computer rebooted, went to the "Configuring updates 2/3 0% ' screen and stayed there." The circle of "loading" froze, I let it sit for an hour and finally started strong. He went to the same screen and froze, I rebooted it in safe mode, it starts normall (not in safe mode), and then asked me to do more updates. I let it reboot and he did the same thing, I rebooted again and he went to the same page with horizontal lines on the screen. I picked up in safe mode, it went through updates and seemed fine. I was using the computer and about 30 minutes later, he froze and made the lines again.

  I decided to reinstall the OS again in case I did something wrong or had a virus transferred in my files. I did reinstall fees disks on my computer of friends (same model bought the same day). This time, I didn't install programs or documents with the exception of my antivirus (eset). I immediately started this updates a little at a time. In a first time no problem, but he did 72 updates automatically, it froze on a similar screen, I rebooted and it worked fine (successful installation). I then continued to make updates. I got an error 80070570 for some and it is resolved by following the steps listed on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itprovistasp/thread/829de30b-0634-4186-9172-90cd5776b48c forum. (I have listed these steps below as well) I did not receive any other errors failed after that. When I did the update to IE 8 that it froze again, I rebooted and it has started well.   I went until I didn't have Windows Vist SP2 on the list to download. I left this download and restart it, it froze again on 2 of 3 0% screen configuration updates, I restarted, same thing, then restarted in safe mode. He started up very well.

  Although it seems to work once I started strong each time, I know I shouldn't have these freezing problems.

  Any help is appreciated.

  It's a Windows Update error. Perform the following steps.

  1. stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and the automatic updates service. To do this, follow these steps:

  a. click on start / all programs/accessories. Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "run as Administrator". Click on 'Continue' in the UAC prompt.

  b. at the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

  net stop wuauserv
  net stop bits

  2. rename the folder "Catroot2. To do this, follow these steps:

  Type the following commands and press ENTER after each command.

  net stop cryptsvc
  Ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 oldcatroot2
  net start cryptsvc
   
  3 Rename the folder "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution":

  Type the following command and press ENTER.

  Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

  4. save the files used by Windows Update and Microsoft Update. To do this, follow these steps:

  a. at the command prompt, type the following commands, press ENTER after each command and then click OK every time that you receive a verification message:

Error is:

  Error 1935

  "Microsoft.VC80.ATL.type ="win32".version ="8.0.50727.4053".

  "publicToken ="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b.processorArchitecture ="amd64" '. I tried with Microsoft .NET Framework, but it does not work eather.

  I try 2 days to install itunes without success...

  Run the SFC/scannow using the Administrative Mode command prompt

  Attempt to open the CBS log

  Open Run - type the following and press OK

  %windir%\Logs\CBS

  Look for entries stating can not repair and note the file name

  If it does not repeat the steps listed in my previous post to open the CBS log in Notepad
