  I have no sticker on my laptop (HP ProBook) who was one of the many bought by my company.

  Windows Enterprise allows you to run 4 virtual machines on a particular host (more host if you want, but only to support VMs, or host more than 3 VMs).

  Windows Datacenter allows you to run an unlimited number of virtual machines on the particular host.

  I'm sorry to have potentially posted this in the wrong forum first! I am trying to wrap my head around the following question:

  I have a tool that I want to give access ratings to. It is a piece of software to interface with a telephone system that displays stats about who is currently signed as a live dashboard. The software does not allow many people to access.

  So I would do is to give a handful of users view only access via VNC. Which means that I would run this software on a server, then x users all connect at the office same server as a view-only clients.

  I know what to do on the side VNC - what is purchase x number of enterprise license allowing x number of clients to connect to.

  But how I stand on the licenses of Windows? Assuming I have install this application on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012, am I right in thinking I would also need to buy x user licenses? Or does somehow make a difference that all clients are connecting on the same desktop in read-only mode?
