Microsoft Network Framework 3.5 SP1 vs 1.1 and deleting damaged file ActiveX problem
Hello. I am running Windows XP, SP2. Until today, I had MS Network Framework 3.5 SP1 and 1.1 is installed, but due to problems with the download of update 1.1, I deleted 1.1 to reinstall a working version but I wonder if I still need 1.1, since I'm already running 3.5 SP 1?
Also, I have a damaged ActiveX file in my Windows/Downloaded Programs directory named, {E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7} files that it references seem to be missing and it is damaged, but I can't remove it from my laptop, using all the utilities to Delete, cut or cleaning included with Vista. What can I do about it?
Hi Dean Erickson,
You can install .net Framework 1.1 only if prompted by windows updates. Windows updates will decide if your computer requires 1.1. You should not install .net 1.1, unless you are invited to.
You cannot delete ActiveX controls that you have downloaded and installed. You cannot delete ActiveX controls were pre-installed or modules of any kind, but you can disable the. To delete an ActiveX control that you have installed, use the add-on Manager. If the add-on cannot be removed in Add-on Manager, you might be able to uninstall it through the control panel.
To delete ActiveX controls you have installed Internet Explorer 7
- Open Internet Explorer by clicking on the Start button and then about Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools , point to Manage Add-ons, and then click enable or disable add-ons.
- In the Show list, click downloaded ActiveX controls to display all ActiveX controls.
- Click the ActiveX control, you want to disable, and then click Remove.
- Repeat step 4 for each module you want to disable. When you are finished, click OK.
I hope this helps.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
1 person needs an answer
For what is interesting, what I ended up doing to solve my problems was to re - install Vista with the 'upgrade' option, so I don't lose any of my files or desktop settings...
After that, I had a few problems with my OS reinstalled with several (80 +) updates, SP1 and SP2 from catching up. But overall these problems were minor compared to it, that I lived just to fix some missing files.

original title: Framework 1.1 SP1 update problem
Every day I receive an automatic update: security update Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 SP1 on Windows XP Windows Server 2008 x 86 (KB2656353). It dowloads and seems to update OK. I don't get the error codes. But, apparently it does not update because the next day it is here once again. This has happened for a week or more. How should I do?
Hi TomGreg,
You are able to correctly install the other updates?
This problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:
(a) an error has occurred during installation. The update has not been installed.
(b) the update has been installed. However, a file was not updated to restart the computer.

You can install this application without the upgrade.
Try the stand-alone download and see if it will.

Operating system: Vista Edition Home Premium Service Pack 2
I tried to reinstall the Client of Microsoft Networks on the PC several times. I had deleted to reinstall because I couldn't connect to the Internet once I have gone through the long process to remove ITunes and its related programs and then reinstalled ITunes from scratch.
Whenever the Client Setup will fail. I get the following network connections error message:
"Could not add the requested feature. The error is: the remote procedure call failed. »
The PC does not have a Windows Installer disk.
Is there somehow download the Client for Microsoft networks (to another PC) and then copy and install it on the PC with the problem?
Is there a way to repair the Windows installation to see if it can solve the problem?
If possible, I prefer not to do a reinstall full Vista and SP 1 and 2. It takes time as well as to reinstall all the programs on the PC.
Thanks for the ideas.
jgbcorr
Thank you.
When I tried the fix you sent, I got CPP
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\.
It seems that the uninstall deleted Itunes the other inputs of register, also.
Example: I tried to run another application on the PC and received the following message
"Could not initialize Windows sockets."
I reinstalled the software and tried to run again. I got the same message, "Could not initialize Windows sockets."
I read that I could buy and download the Vista startup repair, burn it to a disk and repair installation of Vista PC. This repair restores the registry to the original installation settings?
If not, what other options can I short of a complete reinstallation of Vista and then most of the programs on the PC?
Thank you
