  I have a question about the legitimate use of the Microsoft XP Professional OEM license with the sticker stuck on HP machines. A few months back, I bought a few these old desktops from a local supplier. These machines have Microsoft XP Professional sticker pasted on the body of office (the label also mentions that the license must be sold separately). I also formatted the machines and installed XP Professional on the machines once more and activated the XP online button glued on the desktop.

  My dealer told me that these are the OEM licenses and they will so that the Office on which they were installed. If the office is sold to anyone, it is legitimate to the buyer to use the Windows XP operating system on this office legally. I want a reconfirmation on it. Can someone please advise?

  If the PC is sold on the copy of Windows can go with it. (With an OEM license simply means that one) the permit is cheaper than a retail license and b) the licensed software cannot be installed on the original machine. In other words, you cannot use the Windows XP CD, you have to install another copy of Windows on another machine. It should always be installed on the first machine on which you installed.

  While versions of the software 'detail' are more expensive, the buyer is not limited, as would be an OEM. For example, with a copy to the detail, you can install on a machine, then after a few years, this machine of the scrap and re - install copy of Windows on a new machine.   In the case of a computer from a major manufacturer contact them via their web site.  Many have recovery media low cost for just the situation you encounter.  Also they can cause (however unlikely) a new product key to replace the one that has rubbed off.  If all else fails see also: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246

  In order to buy key online, you need to create an account.  Others are able to retrieve the key from this account.  Have you tried signing in?

  Always attach your product keys as you would any money because that's what you lose.

  Have you confirmed that the hard drive is dead by starting HD diagnostic CD indicated on the?  If your manufacturer is not listed, then use Seatools CD.

  Yes, you must purchase a full license for the second installation of Windows 7 product key.  1 activation allows only one Windows 7 product key.  Apparently, you now have a second facility that requires a second product key. Carey Frisch

  Dell provided you with restore/recovery media and/or a way to restore the machine 'default' as a key sequence?  If so - you won't need the number--unless they just sent a DVD of Windows 7 nu - and they are usually not unless you ask.

  They have probably installed using their key, which means that even with a utility like Belarc Advisor or ProduKey - you will not get the product key that matches the one on the sticker.

  Some may have you take several different digital pictures of the sticker from different angles and see if you can decipher the missing characters like that (you'd be surprised to see how that works).

  I suggest to connect to Adobe.com and check the serial number on the site, if you had registered the serial number on the old computer.

  Also if you still have CS6 box with you, please try to look on the box.

  I bought a new laptop bit 8.1 64.  It upgraded to windows 10 and active properly. I wanted to give 8.1 on it, but recovery options were not working, they said the files were not directly since my backup on 8.1 wim or there are missing files. I have now lost my backup of wim in total.

  I got the key with a keyfinder and installed 8.1 downloaded from Microsoft. I formatted the primary partition but left all the others.

  I can't activate windows. This that leads me to believe this is because I installed a version of 8.1 Microsoft not a HP OEM version - which I don't seem to be able to get their hands on. All this has been a nightmare. I would really appreciate getting help to activate windows.
