  • Can I install my Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 that I used on a new computer that I will be buying?

I have Microsof Office Professional Edition 2003 that I used on my computer.  I want to get a new computer and I was wondering if I can install it on my new computer.  I have the disks to install, with a product key on the back of the package.  Is it safe to use on the new computer since it's always my computer?  In addition, this version is compatible with Windows 7?  (I used it on Windows XP).  Thank you!

    Hi DorisDowd,

It seems that you have a retail copy of Microsoft Office Professional 2003. According to the license terms, it can be installed on a primary device and a portable device at a time.
    You can look here: http://www.microsoft.com/About/Legal/EN/US/IntellectualProperty/UseTerms/Default.aspx

So yes, you can still use it on a new computer if you do not buy one. It is also certainly compatible with Windows 7. Visit the Compatibility Center Windows 7 here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/search.aspx?l=en-us&type=software&s=Office%202003&page=2&OS=32-bit

  • Can I move Microsoft Office on my new computer?

My old computer is fried and I need my Microsoft Office programs in order to finish College and I need them while I'm working. Is it not possible for me to place them on an external hard drive and move them to the new computer without problems? (I'm not made of money and can hardly afford to my new computer let alone to buy programs all over again)

    Hello ForsakenSora,

You can physically move it to an external drive, and then install it on your other PC unless you downloaded the copy of Microsoft Office. If it was preinstalled on your PC and that you purchased Office then you should have a disk with office on it provided by the PC manufacturer.

If you purchased a retail version, here again, you should have the discs and you can install it on their part. You must have the product key provided with the software number in order to activate the office.

There are versions of programs running free indeed similar to Office. An example is that openoffice (www.openoffice.org), at the request of that Office is completely free to download and use. It will also open documents created in Microsoft Office.

  • Microsoft Office 2010 purchased with the new computer

    Hello

I bought a new Dell XPS 8500 with Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business computer. The packing list with the computer shows two elements in the delivery: 225-4158 XPS 8500 Fast track config38 and 421-8669 Microsoft Office Home and Business Kit, SW, OFCHB-2010, MPI, ENG, DAO.

I looked everywhere in the box of the computer delivered to and I can't find the Microft home kit and the office and I can't activate the office without the MPI card.

I received this order 24/01/2013 and the box was intact and still sealed with security tape Dell. A kit of office should have been included and MPI?

    Thak you for your help.

I looked back through the box and I finally found the Microsoft Office MPI card. He was completely at the bottom of the box and one of the cardboard flaps. Thans for your help.

  • I purchased microsoft office 2007 and want to transfer it to a new computer, but I can't find the registration number of 25 characters, can anyone hel locate me in my computer?

I bought a Dell in 2008 with Microsoft office 2007. The Bill says only an invoice number, but not the registration number of 25 characters. I think it must be in the computer somewhere but I can not find it.

I did a quick google and found the following site that can help,

  • install new computer office 2003

I bought a new HP p6142p computer and want to copy and move my Office 2003 to it. Will someone please tell me how to proceed? I have MS Word version 9 and when I reopen it a word doc it will be blurred to the point of being useless.

You must install Office 2003 and your new computer by using the installation diskettes. Do not try to copy on.  There is also a settings file Office 2003 on your old computer (search in the Office 2003 menu) you need to move to a folder on the new computer.  After you install Office 2003, and then open the settings of Office 2003 on the new computer and import the old settings file.  Now, all your Office program settings will be just like those on the old computer.  Then, you have to go to the Microsoft Office Web site and get updates.

Any chance that you have used the "demo"?

If your programs Microsoft Office came pe-installed when you purchased the computer, it is a "trial" version
Trial version is good for 60 days or x number of use, after that it use more.

If this is the case, you will need to purchase a full version if you want to continue using Microsoft Office programs.

There is an alternative. You can install OpenOffice which is free. There are programs that work more or less like Microsoft counterparts, and they are compatible.

  • You need to install MS Office Pro 2007 on new computer after motherboard crashed on the old computer.

I have a license for MS Office Pro 2007 (US only) (OEM) that came with a new Dell laptop.  The motherboard on the computer crashed and I bought a new computer (Dell no).  Of course, I can't uninstall Office from your old computer.  Can I use my existing license to install/activate the Office on my new computer.  The new computer has the trial version which allows 25 uses.  My product key does not work because it has not been uninstalled or disabled (I guess).

Your product key does not work because you can not use it to "move" from an edition of the trial and because it has already been used (on the other system).  You must do it manually and I do not know the manual process for Office products.  As an OEM license, I do not think it can be moved to another machine - but if this applies to operating systems, I am not sure that it applies to the Office products (I've never had this issue before).  It may be perfectly fine once you uninstall the trial and download the appropriate version of Microsoft.  You need to ask the experts.

Please repost your question in the Forums Office: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/officeinstall/threads where specialists in office wil be more than happy to answer your question.

    I hope this helps.

  • MS Office 2013 does not work in the new computer

Our new computer, optiplex 3020, came with MS Office 2013; However, we have never been able to use all of the Office components.  We still get an error, for example. Microsoft Word has stopped working.  A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  We can see the document in the error message.

Maybe we need to register the product, but how to make a page to save it?

You can try to remove the normal.dotm template file. This may solve the problem:

    Quit Word

    Press Windows key + R

Copy and paste the following text in the field:

    %USERPROFILE%\Application data\microsoft\templates

    Press the Enter key

Find and delete the Normal.dotm file

    Restart Word.

If this does not work, try to maintain the CTRL key when you start Word. If Word starts, you have a bad component loading snap. Let me know and I'll post instructions.

If Office is OEM license, it cannot be moved.
To move the desktop, install it on the new computer, uninstall old.

I'm considering buying a computer with Windows 7.  Is there a driver for my Canon Multipass F50 printer?  I have Office Professional for XP - can I load office software on the new computer with Windows 7?

Page drivers Canon MultiPASS F50 & the downloads shows nothing for Windows 7 (or even for Vista), so I doubt that it works.

Microsoft Office XP is not compatible with Windows 7.  Office 2003 and Office 2007 are.

Due to a computer crash (bought in 2004 with Windows xp and Office 2003 Professional), I bought a new one with Windows 7 and I try to install my old version of Microsoft Office 2003 Pro (bought around 2004 update).  However the installation process does not recognize the older versions of Office (which were on my old machine and allowed me to exploit OP 2003).  Is it possible to load my OP03 bought and already active on my new computer?
