Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 failover clusters

I read the documents of VMware where Windows 2008R2 failover cluster installation options can be "in a box" or "out of the box '.   There is another, but I need to have two virtual knots.

In the option "outside the box", it indicates that the shared drive must be a FibreChannel drive.   Is this correct?  Can this be any other type?

It depends on the version of vSphere that you use. FC has been the only way supported up to vSphere 5.1. With vSphere 5.5 support for iSCSI and FCoE was introduced. See http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2052238

  • Siebel 8.1.1.11 on Windows 2008 32-bit

    Dear all,

We intend to improve 8.1.1.5 8.1.1.11 and currently on Windows 2008 32-bit.

Siebel 8.1.1.11 will work on Windows 2008 32-bit for HER, SWSE, etc.?

The "Certifications" tab does not have Microsoft Windows 2008 32 bit as an operating system supported. This means that we cannot spend our 8.1.1.5 existing on Windows 2008 32-bit to 8.1.1.11 unless we move to Windows 2008 64-bit?

But "Siebel Support for Windows 2008 () ". DOC ID 781428.1 "( )" indicates that Windows 2008 32-bit is supported for 8.1.1 or.

    Thank you

    Lino

    Hello Lino,

Thank you for using Oracle communities.

Regarding your query on 8.1.1.11 with Windows 2008 32 bit. You can always 8.1 patch1.11 atop 8.1.1.5 and application will work fine.

Problem here is that Windows 2008 (32-bit) is end of life (EOL) of microsoft. So Siebel will always work for Siebel 8.1.1.10 and 8.1.1.11 (including Patchsets) Siebel and Oracle supported on a technical level, but we don't plan to list the versions of Windows on My Oracle Support certify once can no longer get support from Microsoft.

Visitors can run Siebel 8.1.1.x on Windows 2008, 32-bit, but we dealt only with issues related to the Siebel code and can not help in Microsoft problems, since we are unable to get help.

So since you are running on W2008 32-bit 8.1.1.x pre-8.1.1.11 version then you might well spend Siebel to 8.1.1.11 and stay on the subject.  (As it was in the old SRSP will who honor us)

But of course, you will need to plan to move forward on W2008 R2 version.  This version is ONLY for 64-bit as matrices a with R1 W2008 32-bit line.

Note: there is a hard stop on the end of this year with the Innovation Pack 2014 (aka Siebel 8.1.1.14): as we will be upgrading all the compilers and relying on Win 2008 R2, we can support 64 bit OS only at this time (because 32-bit OS will not exist for this and future patches). However, the Siebel application will be a 32-bit application.

    I hope it helps.

    Best regards

  • Creating a failover cluster Windows 2008 on ESX 3.5

    Hello

I would like to create a cluster Windows 2008 on ESX 3.5.  As I understand it browse the forums supporting parallel SCSI as a type of shared bus was abandoned for Failover Clustering in Windows Server 2008.  To enable clustering, you need to use iSCSI on a target server.  Additional costs of license option for the introduction of a target server.

Is ESX 3.5 update to support Windows 2008 failover clustering?  If so, when?

Is there another solution that involves no additional cost?  I watched StarWind but the free version does not give us enough resources that is necessary.

How ESX 4.0 supports Windows 2008 failover cluster?

    Thank you

    Brian

In ESX 3.5, you can do a 2008 failover cluster with a software initiator in the node Windows 2008.

    For ESX 4 no problem.

  • Can I use ASM / ME to windows server 2012 file server failover clustering?

    Hi all

Can I use ASM / ME to windows server 2012 file server failover clustering?

We can use it with exchange, sql, sharepoint,..., but I can't find any document for file server.

    Thank you.

HIT / working ME with CSV W2K12/R2, W2K8 CSV volumes cannot bear not to cancel the MAPPING is the main difference.  But HITTING / will allow ME to create the active copies and replicas of volumes CSV

Yes the cluster file shares are supported with SUCCESS / me.    If you think about it, SQL, Exchange are indeed a "sharing".   Because it is an NTFS volume with services that run against her.  SQL, Exchange or fileshare services.

  • Microsoft Failover Clustering - issue of persistent reservations

    Hello

I am trying to set up a fresh Win 2008 R2 failover cluster on my 5.0 ESXi hosts and unfortunately the verification of the cluster fails with an isssue of persistent reservation.

I follow all the kb articles and white papers correctly build 2 VM of the client as follows:

    Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1

    NIC for public traffic

NETWORK map for the private heartbeat traffic

    Disk EagorThickZero for system

RDM added in physical compatibility mode

Controller SCSI (1:0) used in physical mode for both nodes

Storage matrix that I use is a 5300 VNX

I have Powerpath 5.7 running on each host ESXi

Does anyone have an idea where this problem?

I have attached the below error message.

  • Cannot import Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V virtual machines to VMware ESXi 4.

    Hi team,

I use VMware vCenter Converter Standalone to import certain Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V virtual machines to VMware ESXi 4, using another Windows Server 2008 R2 as the machine Agent Converter. Well, the agent connects to the Windows VM source very well (I used the net use command to create a line of conduct...), perhaps no chance to connect to the computer target VMware ESxi 4 and make the converter doesn't work...

    Following is the error message:

"Unable to connect to the host specified" from the converter agent machine. " It is perhaps because the host is not available on the network, there is a problem with the network configuration or management on this host services do not react. Check all components of converter to be able to connect.

So, my question is; is it possible to create a work around (like the net use Windows command above) to make possible the connection of the converter Agent on Linux VMware ESXi 4 machine Windows machine, to directly import the virtual machines of Windows Hyper-V to Linux VMware?

    Thanks in advance,

    It's even easier than that

    Use this: http://www.winimage.com/

Which will convert *.vhd *.vmdk, so you don't need to do all this... Of course, another way is to start the machines, leaving them on Hyper-V and go through the network and process virtual machine as physical machines and do a P2V on the network...

I do not. As mentioned in the blog...

  • Replication Failover clustering & Hyper-v on a two-node cluster

    Hello

We have two identical servers.  One to use as a main server, which houses two virtual machines.  The other should be used as a back up in case the main server is not somehow.  We planned on using a solution of third-party software to back up our virtual machines and launch them in the event of failure of the principal server.  However, we discovered just gave the failover clustering in Windows Server R2 2012.

We have tried to set up a cluster 2 nodes, with our virtual machines properly replicated to the backup server.  Excited by the present, we tried then to simulate failure of the primary server (by pulling on the cable network).  We were a little disappointed to find that the backup server is not automatically run virtual machines.  We did a survey and read than a solution of two nodes requires storage space for additional network (in addition to our two servers).

I wonder if that's okay?  In other words, a two-node failover cluster requires separate network storage space.  If this is not correct, can someone point me to a set of instructions to correctly configure a two-node failover cluster that will automatically launch the virtual machines on the server backup (in the case of a failure of the principal server).

    Thank you

The system has .NET 1.1, installed 3.5 SP1 and 4.5.2. I don't see WMF in the Windows Update list on the server. Suggestions that more I need to install or uninstall?
