Microsoft windows XP Professional edition, report of invalid key

Hi group, I recently acquired various work redundant COMPUTER equipment, more has been discharge so I thought I could do some use. I got a HP D530 S nude which I plan on my daughter in her room for homework fundamental & internet. The disc has been removed from the desktop until I acquired it for security reasons. Since then, I've replaced the hard drive and you have the PC running. The problem is that I have the sticker COST of windows genuine with code 25 alpha numeric attached to the desktop computer, but after installing windows from a disk in Win XP Pro I have installed on my machine, I get the message that the code is not authentic. I contacted Microsoft both on 0800 & 0844 numbers, but nothing helped. Last time I called it took the Lady 35 minutes to give me the answer "You must contact the seller of the machine that you can not install windows without the disc", I read the topics before posting this thread, but they all seem incompatible with my problem. Any help would be appreciated.
