migration from 4.1 to 5.1 hosts/guests of Nexus 1000V to VDS using CLI power

Is there scripts out there that will migrate to a host and guests on this respective host of a virtual center of ESXi 4.1 with Nexus 1000v switch, for a new virtual Center 5.1 with a VDS of VMWare ESXi.

I don't want to upgrade the host 5.1, or guests. only move them from 4.1 to 5.1 Virtual Center and upgrade at a later date

Maybe can the Gabe migration distributed vSwitch in vCenter new post help?

I have a virtual machine that I've initially converted to Hyper-V to host VSphere. After I did it would start very well, but I got up two errors when starting.

"An IDE controller is found but the VM does not support the option" and

"A plate supporting the option not found."

When I looked at the hard drive in the settings it looks like it is not supported. Is it because I badly converted to Hyper-V to VSphere using VMWare Converter?

But now, I configure VCenter Server and tested a migration of these machines to another host and using the VSphere Client. It does not start now. I get an error message that says.

"Device 'drive hard 1' uses a controller that is not supported." This is a general limitation of the compatibility of the virtual machine with the selected host ESXi version. »

Remember that it is the same VSphere host it is running on initially. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  • Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit host host 32-bit clients

OK, so this question was asked to me.   We received a new chassis for a blade/SAN solution for free.   The new chassis will be our recovery site and will support 64-bit of the blades (unlike our last production version).    We currently have 32-bit hosts in production with all the 32-bit guests and we intend to put 64-bit blades in the new chassis if we can migrate it 32-bit guests.   What I read 32-bit guests are supported on a 64-bit host but can migrate us host 32-bit to 64-bit host?

It is still too early, so if it's coherent hike or you need any clarification please let me know.

What I read 32-bit guests are supported on a 64-bit host but can migrate us host 32-bit to 64-bit host?

    Yes.  No problem.

  • VMs migration from one to another on ESXi 5.1 data store (free license)

I'm under ESXi in my lab (for the Cisco voice servers and a few Windows virtual machines). Virtual machines are on a datastore iSCSI hosted by a Netgear ReadyNAS Pro Business. Due to major problems with iSCSI on the ReadyNAS platform and the inability of Netgear to resolve problems (blocking NAS requiring a hard reset), I decided to buy a QNAP TS - 569 L and use it to host my ESXi data store. Now, I'm migrating my VMs from the iSCSI data store hosted on the ReadyNAS to the iSCSI data store hosted by QNAP.

My VMs are supplied thin, and I want to preserve thin provisioning after migration. The data store Navigator ESXi can move (or copy) machines virtual data to another store, but thin-set in service virtual machines become thick-set service once they have been moved (or copied). Somebody advised Veeam to that end, I've installed and configured. Unfortunately, Veeam-error with the message that the current license does not have the migration of virtual machines from a data store to another. Just today, I learned that he must have at least the ESXi Essentials ($500) license to allow this type of migration of Veeam.

I also tried OVFTool (the MMware command line utility), using the following syntax:

    . / ovftool - ds QNAP-iSCSI - dm = vi thin: / / vi [email protected]/CUCM-Pub: / / [email protected]

    where:

QNAP-iSCSI is the name of the data store on the QNAP

192.168.200.10 is the IP address of my box of ESXi that is connected to two data stores iSCSI (the one organized by the ReadyNAS and the other by the QNAP).

CUCM-Pub is the name of the virtual machine on the ReadyNAS iSCSI data store I'm migrating to the QNAP iSCSI data store.

However, I get the following error message:

Error: Unexpected Option: vi: / / [email protected]/CUCM-Pub

This is probably due to the same issue - free ESXi license does not allow this type of VM migration. So, what are my options with free ESXi license? I'm not willing to pay $500 for the license of the essential at this stage.

    Thank you!

A few options, I can think of are:

    • export to the FVO and re - import
    • use VM explore Trilead and backup/restore virtual machines
    • Use the vmkfstools command to copy the virtual disks

  • Can migrate a virtual computer to another virtual hosted by the same host computer?

    Deal all,

I have two questions and I need your help.

    (1) I wonder if a virtual machine can be migrated to another virtual machine that are hosted by the same host ESXi 5.0? (The host has a local hard drive). If possible, how?

    (2) if I have two stand-alone ESXi hosts (host A and B), each host has DAS (local storage) respectively. If the VLC Player is running on a virtual hosted by host A computer and playing a video stream from the Internet, (it is not at all access local storage). This virtual machine can be migrated to host B? (Suppose vCenter is installed)

    Any response will be appreciated.

    Cheng

You can clone this VM VM A i.e (require vCenter or vmkfstools allows you to clone the drive ONLY) and name VM B. do you want on original VM. Something happened to A VM, VM B you Savior.

vStorage the device (here). It will use your local or DAS.

    Hello
I migrated from Outlook Express to Thunderbird on XP, then moved the files to Windows 8.

    S

There are several solutions to your problem, which is the best for you which I do not pretend to know.

There is the possibility of simply to copy the WAB to outlook express for Windows 7 and double click it to him bringing in the windows contacts folder. I have instructions here http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/windows-contacts.html that include the Windows Contacts folder in Thunderbird.

Alternatively, you can install one of the Add-ons to gmail contact sync. I use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/google-contacts

Hello luckyduck, as is the case with xmarks too, the overwhelming majority of the addons is not created by mozilla, but by independent third-party developers. so if you want to know if it is planned an extension for firefox on android porting or have other requests for features, please communicate with the developers involved directly in order to get a better answer. Thank you for your understanding!

Probably not with a 2d gen i5 processor, but it does not matter. It will support an SSD SATA-III, even if the SSD transfer is limited to SATA-II. It will always be very, very fast and you will never see no practical difference. Download the SSD, you will not be sorry. Let us know if you need help most.

  • Move photos on external hard drive after migrating from iPhoto to Photos

I have a lot of photos and have you run out of space on my MacBook.  After doing some reading, I discovered that I should be bale to move my library to an external hard drive, then the point of Photos to run from the external hard drive.

I have recently updated to El Capitan, and as part of this upgrade that my photos have been migrated from iPhoto to the Photos.  I just checked the current location of my library and I found two.  One is named Photo library and which resembles the pictures one use which makes sense.  However, I also have a file called iPhoto library and it is listed as a library migrated under file type.

My question is, when I copy my pictures on the external hard drive also I copy the migrated thus iPhoto library?

My question is, when I copy my pictures on the external hard drive also I copy the migrated thus iPhoto library?

Yes, if you want to free up your internal disk storage moving two libraries of the iPhoto library you have migrated your external drive and the new library of Photos.

The two libraries share the storage for the original images and previews.  As long as one of the libraries is always on the internal disk and using storage, storage is not released: see: Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

Drag the two libraries to your external drive, then double click the pictures library to open it in photos and test it. Once you are convinced that the copied library works well, you can delete the original in the internal drive.  Do the same for the copied iPhoto Library if you have installed iPhoto.

  • I'm trying to migrate from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, with all updates.

original title: sharing fails file of Windows XP Home edition

I'm trying to migrate from W2K to Windows XP Home edition (Pro/SP3 with all current updates from today ' hui).  My network has several computers with the help of a working group.  I noticed that WXP defines what is called "Simple file sharing" (SFS) that did not exist in W2K.  However, I think that my W2K installation was equivalent to what we call SFS.  What I shared with readers and only granted the permission reading for everyone.  My migration technique involves the use of multiple bootable media to create the Windows XP Home edition system without changing anything on W2K systems.  The I want to share files on separate partitions of the system drive / start / we.  These data partitions are the same drive letters on all systems.  Sharing works as expected in all cases, except that the new system of Windows XP Home edition won't file to other systems (clients).  All client systems receive the same result which is a message access denied as follows:

\\computer_name\share_name is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  ...

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

On the new system that is unable to use the files, the event log contains a message that says the following:

The "irpstacksize" server configuration setting is not enough for the server to use a local device.  Please increase the value of this parameter.

I found a number of items on this site about IRPStackSize.  An inspection of all computers reveals this registry key is not set on any of my systems.  This includes the W2K running on the same computer systems that are capable of serving the same files that fail on Windows XP Home edition, with no problems.  Any of those articles gives no justification for what is an appropriate use for the IRPStackSize value.  Moreover, some articles describe a situation where arbitrarily increase the size works for a short period, but does not seem to be a sustainable solution.  In addition, there is a range of valid values, and some articles describe that max is achieved without solving the problem.

Therefore, I am skeptical about the idea that there is a real solution.  Can anyone provide an explanation on why specifying a key IRPStackSize is going to help (or not)?  If Yes, what is the right value?

  • How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7 non-destructively?

How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7 to non-destructively?... meaning is there a way to do this without backup data (on the XP disk), the Windows 7 upgrade and then restore the XP backup data?

Moreover, since the structures of folders (I am told are slightly different) XP and Windows 7 where can I restore the data from?

for example where my Documents from XP to go on the side of Windows 7? and so on... there at - it a 'table of equivalence' for this?

    Thank you.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

  • Migration from SQL Server to Oracle during 11.1.2.4 upgrade

    Hi all

To further expand on the title, wanted to check if it is possible to migrate from SQL Server to Oracle, while improving 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.4 on brand-new material. There is a change in all the components (s/w, h/w, RDBMS) so I wanted to run this generic statement by the forum to see what the experts think.

Where in the equation can count us on LCM?

I know that John Goodwin had already answered a few questions on the same subject for previous versions, but as 11.1.2.4 is a different game... I would be grateful if someone could share their thoughts.

    Thank you!

If you are installed on hardware costs and migration then it should be independent of the RDBMS. Not to say there is no problems with passing of 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.4 (if you use planning, for example, business rules-> Calc Manager) but they certainly should not be linked to the fact you've changed the underlying database.
