Migration of database restore save changes

Hi all

We intend to migrate our database of production from one place to the other.
We are still in the planning stage, and I need a suggest to one of the possible scenarios, we have considered: -.

Suppose that on the DAY 1, we copy the database from the old location to the new location. And the old database is closed after the copy process is finished and the new database is in action.
Now the new database is turned on and all new transactions affect the new database.

Now on DAY 10, we find that there is XYZ problem and we want to go back to the old database. In this case, he must move all the "changes" from the most recent to the old database and raise him.
So my question is: is it possible to apply logs the reached for 10 days in the period of the most recent database to plu?

If my question is not clear to you, please ask...

Please suggest in both cases database upgrade and migration for the same version.

Answer please...
Thanks in advance...

Saket BB

a. Yes, you can use incremental backups. Remember that you should not change the DBID and DB_NAME.

(b) you'd have to be sure that the application error does not bring harm to the database updates.

  • Database has been modified.  Save changes?

    After the execution of some commands and try to close SQL Developer, he always asks me "database has been modified.  Save changes? ».  Most of the time I only use select statements.  Is it safe to answer yes/no?  What happens if I have made an update to a table.  It will get rid of updates, even if I issued the commit; command?

    Thank you.

    In the case of only making selects, this prior discussion comments should enlighten us:

    And if you do your own agrees, of course, pending DML changes are involved - you answer "No" to an offer to record is then irrelevant.

  • Want to migrate the database (4node RAC) size of 4 TB of 10.2.0.5 at 11.2.0.4 on the new servers where the new type servers Primary (4 nodes) and Eve (4 nodes).

    Want to migrate the database (4node RAC) 4 TB size of 10.2.0.5(8 rompt = 4 prim/4 veille) to 11.2.0.4 on the new servers where the new type servers Primary (4 nodes) and Eve (4 nodes).  So with minimum downtime I have restore and recover again on 11.2.0.4 server must then clone that to create the day before.   Here, my question is can I take 0 backupp level before hand and restore on target (new) then primary at the time to leave the downtime take backup of level 1 of 10g and then retrieve it on 11g (new server) after successful recovery I'll perform clone to form eve of database on the new server. does this strategy work? If it works, can someone suggest me steps how can I need recover with backup after restoring the backup of level 0 on 11g. Like should I upgrade before you retrieve it with level 1 backup or I can update and then recover with the level 1 backup from the old server to the new server.

    Here is former servers of RHEL 5 version and new servers are RHEL 6 release.

    1 backup L0

    2 restore L0

    3. L1 and ArchiveLogs database backup

    4. copy BackupPieces L1 and ArchiveLog BackupPieces on new server

    5 CATALOGUE START WITH... to catalog the BackupPieces

    6. TOGETHER until lastavailable SNA / Archivelog + 1

    7 RECOVER DATABASE (should automatically identify the L1s and to apply ArchiveLogs)

    8 STOP

    9 START UPGRADE

    10. run catupgrd.sql

    You should also take care on the locations of the data file, dump, instance settings destinations, all link database from the database, connectivity application etc.

  • 4.1 ai2 Migration for SQL Server: cannot change the schema name?

    I'm trying to convert a SQL Server database to Oracle.

    As I wanted to insert into an existing (with not the same name on SQL Server) schema, I followed this guideline:

    A SQL Developer... @dermotoneill: migrate existing users of Oracle

    I first picked up the source and then tried to convert the designation.

    but there is no tab:

    Migrate_missing_naming.jpg

    (you can see it's really show the previously entered data as I can choose the check box 'Show only data types used in the source model')

    Is there a new path now how to map the schema?

    Thank you

    Martin

    Hi Martin,

    This page of naming of the object has been removed from the migration wizard.

    The feature is now available in the migration of object report.

    It's easier to work with the report that you can filter and order objects according to your needs.

    In this case, you can simply show the OBJECT_TYPE = 'SCHEMA '.

    The steps are so.

    (1) capture and convert you data source

    (2) open the report of the object (left click on the node "Convert database objects") and change the SCHEMA TARGET_OBJECT_NAME objects in your name of the desired target. Commit the changes.

    Translate 3) and generate the Oracle database (right-click on the node "Convert database objects")

    Kind regards

    Dermot.

  • Error when restoring save point

    Hello

    I have a problem when I try to restore my save point.  My restoration activity is called from a stubborn task incorporated as a region in a plain .jspx page flow.  The workflow is configured to always start a new transaction and has a range of isolated data control.  I can create and remove backup points, and I also have access to them properly as I can query for them using SavePointManager, so I don't have to go to a point record that is not available on my user account.  Is there something I'm missing in my configuration of workflow or something that does not work with fragments of page?

    Thanks for your time.

    Here is my code to create/delete/restore save points

        // creates save point with specified name and adds it to the list
        public void createSavePoint() {
            ControllerContext cc = ControllerContext.getInstance();
            if (cc != null) {
                SavePointManager mgr = cc.getSavePointManager();
                if (mgr != null) {
                    SavePointAttributes attrs = new SavePointAttributes(savePointName, reportType, null);
                    mgr.createSavePoint(attrs);
                    ADFUtils.findOperation("execute").execute();
                    ADFUtils.findIterator("savePointsIterator").executeQuery();
                }
            }
        }

        // removes save point from the database and list
        public void removeSavePoint() {
            DCIteratorBinding dcIter = ADFUtils.findIterator("savePointsIterator");
            Row row = dcIter.getCurrentRow();
            if (row != null) {
                String id = (String) row.getAttribute("id");

                ControllerContext cc = ControllerContext.getInstance();
                if (cc != null) {
                    SavePointManager mgr = cc.getSavePointManager();
                    if (mgr != null) {
                        mgr.removeSavePoint(id);
                        ADFUtils.findOperation("execute").execute();
                        ADFUtils.findIterator("savePointsIterator").executeQuery();
                    }
                }
            }
        }

        // Restores application state to selected save point
        public String restoreSavePoint() {
            DCIteratorBinding dcIter = ADFUtils.findIterator("savePointsIterator");
            Row row = dcIter.getCurrentRow();
            if (row != null) {
                savePointId = (String) row.getAttribute("id");
                return "restoreSavePoint";
            }
            return null;

  • Migration vCenter database of the local instance to a remote server

    Hello

    My vCenter database is installed on the local server with the vCenter server.  When installing without DSN was created because the local database.  Now, I need to create a dedicated server to host the database but can't find where, in the current installation, I would like to change to vCenter point to the new location.

    I read these KBs

    KB.VMware.com/kb/7960893 - movement of the SQL Server to vCenter database
    KB.VMware.com/kb/5850444 - migration vCenter Server on a different host machine
    KB.VMware.com/kb/1003928 - troubleshooting the database data source used by the VirtualCenter Server

    Problem is that (1) there is no DSN, (2) the registry key is not there either, and (3) I cannot find what to change in the vpxd.conf file

    I am able to "migrate the database" and "can create a new dsn to point to the new location.

    So, the question is where can I find the current configuration of the database\dsn.

    I hope that's clear

    Hi VMGenie,

    The reason why it does not appear THAT DSN u is because your machine VC can be 64-bit and the vCenter uses 32-bit DSN settings.

    Open the C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe folder for this exe... it should show u the DSN settings.

    Please consider clicking correct or helpful if this information is useful.

  • Migration of databases on different servers

    Hello

    I have a task at hand in which I have to migrate 3 databases of its current server (HP-Unix) on a new server (HP-Unix) B

    From now on, databases (Dev/QA and Prod) are running on 92060 and size is 350 GB database. I want to migrate to a new server and upgrade to 11g.

    Could if it you please let me know the best way to approach this situation which will result in a minimal downtime.

    1. create a new 11 g OH and B target the database to the server. And to import/export. But given that the data are 350GB, this will be a good approach?
    2. create a new 11 g OH in a server source and upgrade the database. Move it to the server B target by creating a database of pending.
    3. is there another easy easy approach other than mentioned above?

    Please, share your ideas!

    Thank you!

    But we have a strict process in which we are not supposed to install the files on the Server binary 9i target B

    I would look at it differently. One server be your current production server should not allow new binaries (e.g. 11 g), being installed on this subject.

    Server B can run 9i Eve and upgrade test 11g with no impact to production until you are comfortable with the migration steps and make a production migration.
    Withdrawal of 9i after migration of the production would be easy - as long as you do not remove the wrong files. Even so come worse worse, you still have your intact production on server A database to fall back.

    In addition, with your last proposed strategy, if things go wrong during the 9i - 11 g was updated on the server A, you do not have a backup. To actually do a full restore.

    If things go wrong with the upgrade on server B, your rescue is to restart the server.

    It's a matter of enforcement, not a question of Oracle.

    Oracle doesn't care what time it is, or when the weather changes. Your applications, however, can occupy. If you use SYSDATE to fill a line and depend on the date later to be unique or to indicate that the actual command lines have been inserted, changing the date on the server, in particular, he back off, could cause problems for your application. Your application has problems running when daylight saving time to save changes?

  • How do I save changes to about: config?

    I change the url for keyword in all: config but do not know how to save this change. So just close the tab or the browser, the old return parameters.

    How do I save changes to about: config?

    The changes are saved when you close Firefox completely, not just a tab.

    If a change is not having registered, you probably have something installed that changes every time you start Firefox the pref. You must get rid of the cause, t00.

  • How to determine the number of rows in the database and save the result to a local variable?

    Hello

    I'm a newbie in the use of TestStand, databases and SQL, and now I've met difficulties. I use TestStand 2014 (32 bit).

    I have a need to know the number of rows in a database and save that number in a local variable. I tried to practice using the database of the Types of step provided with TS. I tried to use the following in a SQL statement:

    Locals.NumberOfRows = ("SELECT COUNT (*) FROM TEST_TABLE")

    It returns an error: specified value is not the expected type. My goal is possible in this way, or I'm doing this completely wrong?

    -RautSa

    Thank you for your response, Norbert. I have a database of who wins new values at random, and sometimes I need the exact number of rows in this table.

    I managed to achieve my goal by using the SQL statement: "SELECT COUNT (*) as Rowcount OF TEST_TABLE", followed by a data GET operation, which records that number of lines in a local variable.
