Migration of Windows 7 to 8
I can't get Windows 7 to 8 and have touch screen capabilities?
You can control other parts of the screen. As the opening apps with touch screen. If you can't then it is not touch screen and you can not have touch screen capabilities.
I think it depends on the operating system.
-What is it?

Hello...
I have a problem with windows 2003 to windows 2008 migration. I have try several round of flyway of google and youtube, but he is still fail.in the first,.I have HP Proliant server with windows server 2003. So I restore the backup to a different server HP Proliant wih same hardware specification. I've been back up the System State and the drive C with NTBackup. After I restored on HP Proliant, that I want to migrate, the DNS server is timeout request and the client cannot join domain. I was surprised, because the backup and the material is the same, but it can work as well as the original server.in the second case,I have windows server 2003 in HP Proliant server and it works well. I'm doing a replication on this server to another windows 2003 server in an another HP Proliant and works of good replication (another user can join the domain). After, I have installed windows server 2008 to another PC and make the replication of the duplication of windows 2003. And this success to replicate, but not on the DNS (DNS query time-out).I have the despair to try migrating Windows 2003 and 2008 because he is still fail in DNS. Another way to migrate to Windows 2003 and 2008 with DNS, AD and GPO work?Hello

I have a computer with a 2 TB drive (it's a raid 1 volume), which has windows, applications and all data on it. I accelerate currently using a 256 GB SSD. The SSD is divided into two partitions - 64 GB for the acceleration and the rest for the data.
I am a photographer who uses adobe lightroom a lot and I load the partition of data under windows 7 in my lightroom to serve cache folder.
I am running out of space and want to switch to a different configuration.
I have a 512 GB SSD which is what I use as my drive Lightroom during active use and have the pictures moved in their own volume (Raid 1 of 4 TB volume).
I want the users files to be installed on the 4 TB volume in order to not run out of space on the SSD of 256 GB.
The best way to migrate? I thought that the steps.
1 disable acceleration. -I know how to do this.
2. clean the data in the data partition in the 256 GB SSD. (Move whatever it is I need to save in the raid volume I). -I know how to do this.
3. install windows 7 on the SSD as a dual boot at the start. -Is it possible? Can I use the original Setup for her CD and reinstall everything, or there at - it a better method to migrate the windows installation and no user data? If she's trying to move the data from the user it does not in the space of 256 GB.
4. break the RAID on 2 TB volume and unplug a disc to record a disc as backup for the process. -J' use Manager raid intel and I guess I'll do that in the context of being windows screens before the boot process.
5. place new 4 TB drives in the system and the whole Raid 1 and create a 4 to score top. -L'intention to do so by using the screen prior intel for windows.
6. start in the SSD and move the folders from the user to the partition raid 1 - is it possible? I did it for individual users before, but is - it possible for all of the 'users' directory itself? Or do I need to do before installing windows?
7 migrate all the data volume 2 TB for 4 TB volume. -There will be a single file copy because the data are already separated in an independent system folder.
8. install 512 GB SSD and move the files and the catalog of lightroom for the SSD. -J' I need to do more research on how best to do so.
Is there a better process? I have enough power lines to keep all readers connected and energized at the same time and this is the reason for the jump from the stage of the Raid :(
Anything else, I'd be worried? (Yes I have a return to the top of all important data and files to another external drive and a Drobo).

Migration Profiles Windows XP using MDT to Windows 7 Pro.
I run a migration to Windows XP Pro computers to Windows 7 Pro using the MDT deployment tool. The environment consists of two subdomains, one used for normal users [USER.company.org] and a high for HER [INFOSYS.company.org]. When you attempt to migrate users that were migrated using the credentials of INFOSYS on would be 100% locked out in AD. We determined is not a software, printers or the mappings that are at the origin of the lockout. The user would constantly be locked until the profile was successfully deleted. Then the user would connect, allowing the profile in Windows 7 to be re-created.
When we use the level USER account, migration, we will not experience this problem most of the time. Here's the process we run.
During the process, use us the MDT and USMT migration both profiles and build the new system. The whole process is done using a USB 3.0 drive.
1 tech logs on to the Windows XP-based computer by using the INFOSYS account.
2 tech makes their local administrator account USER.
3. newspapers outside account INFOSYS tech and logs on to the USER account.
4 tech helping process the USMT to save profile on USB.
5. once the backup of the USMT is completed, tech restarts computer on USB to begin the process of MDT and LTI.
6. computer full format and the installation of Windows 7 Pro and any software checked during the LTI process.
7 once installation is complete, restart the computer Windows 7 and the migration of users from the old Windows XP profiles on the Windows 7 computer starts. Once complete, the computer restarts.
8. at this point, the migration is complete.
Anyone can log on and use the computer at this point.
Currently, we are beginning to see the other AD lockout, no matter what account migrates. Yet once, only a reconstruction of full profile solves this problem.
Everyone knows about this problem during their migration? And if so, how do solve you this problem?
This issue is beyond the scope of this site and must be placed on Technet or MSDN

How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7 non-destructively?
How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7 to non-destructively?... meaning is there a way to do this without backup data (on the XP disk), the Windows 7 upgrade and then restore the XP backup data?
Moreover, since the structures of folders (I am told are slightly different) XP and Windows 7 where can I restore the data from?
for example where my Documents from XP to go on the side of Windows 7? and so on... there at - it a 'table of equivalence' for this?
Thank you.
The upgrade to Windows XP?
Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.
Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).
More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.
1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.
2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.
3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.
4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."
5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.
If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

migration from windows to linux
Hello people
Use windows server 2003, X 86 base system
Oracle version we use is 10.2.0.1.0... nls_character game is WE8ISO8859P1

right now I just realized an export of the data (on the test server) and placed in the linux database
but only 248 on 312 obtained tables imported, everything is normal now, but I this is not correct for the production server
so I intend to use rman to migrate
I use
Migration Oracle Database 10g from Windows to Linux
http://kamranagayev.com/2010/08/20/RMAN-convert-database-video-tutorial/
a PDF by Alejandro Vargas
Please suggest any material related to this
(1) is there a neccessity to change the character set?
(2) * can we move when the database version is different? *
I can start the process between these databases 10.2.0.1.0 on windows to 11.2.0.1.0 on linux
Thanks in advance
Edited by: 946207 August 13, 2012 11:011. it is not necessary to change the character set of the database.
2. Yes, you can migrate if the database version is different with rman. Yes, you can start the process between 10.2.01 on windows to 11.2.0.2 on linux
but remember one thing during the migration with rman-platform the Archives for the windows platform can be applied to the linx platform and vice versa to recover. If you need to take backup of database using time when no activity is performed, and no change in the database which happens.

I was checking if my G71 340US notebook is OK to upgrade to windows 7 which I understand will be completed July 26, 2016. I read the web HP requirements, but they do not make sense to me as I am not an expert. I understand that HP does not guarantee the purchased booklets before 2013 will work and I bought mine in Nov 2009. My PRODUCT NUMBER IS: VM114UA #ABA and the name of the product is HPG71 notebook PC windows 7 (64-bit). I saw other people in this forum face with his apparently solved problems by only the individual who posted the message, other internet connection problems and systems fail. Can someone please tell me if I'm okay or is it preferable not to attempt migration. Thank you
Hello;
Let me welcome you on the HP forums!Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you face is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features is the specialized drivers written for the specific in your HP PC hardware - and unfortunately, there is no driver HP Win10 for your PC. HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for machines manufactured after August 2013. HP is not no matter what timetable indicating when, or IF, they will produce drivers for older machines.
This means that your PC is probably NEVER going to be fully functional under Win10 because the pilots is needs for all features simply do not exist!Personally, I recommend this doing the upgrade, especially since I did this on a laptop HP DV6 under Win7 and trashed the laptop upgrade bad, I had to restore it if you work with HP recovery media.
Good luck
