    Hello

The image of user account can be removed by disabling the Welcome screen. Or, by opting for the classic Windows theme. Follow the method described in this article, if you want to remove the user name and the picture in the Start Menu, without disabling the Welcome screen and Windows XP theme.

For those who want to delete the user name and the image of user account from the Start Menu, in order to have a blue white Panel at the top, try this:

  • Satellite A200-1NH-AHCI/SATA300/ChipSet and the Installation of Windows 7

    Hi all

    I have a Toshiba A200-1NH.
    Model: PSAE3E-03K01DDU.

Because the hard drive has failed I replaced it with a new one.
    Model: WD3200BPVT.
It is the ATA/300 and 320 GB.

My goal is to install Windows 7. I started with the disks of origin comes with the laptop to install Vista and intended to upgrade Vista to Windows 7 later.

Start with the original installation disc leads me to the first boot of Windows and then the system says "Windows cannot configure your computer's hardware. She's.

I did some research and discovered that she could have something to do with the Chipset drivers.
It is not possible to add drivers during the installation by using the original recovery disk. That's why I tried an install of Windows 7 and adding the AHCI ICH8M drivers during installation.

Windows 7 installation cannot use the drive, any driver chipset I have add during installation, it does not change a thing.

To revert to the original installation disc provided with the laptop, formatted the disk, absolute 0 partitions on it, restarted with disk, create partitions, copy of the data from windows and once again, the message:
"Windows cannot configure the hardware in your computer.

I have not tried to update the BIOS, did not and manual for it that does not use Windows Update the BIOS.
I have not tried another disc. I connect this drive on my Mac and ran diagnostics, that's fine.
I have not tried all the AHCI drivers, I found, there are hundeds, it is unclear which I should use.

    You guys give me advice?

    [EDIT]
New version of BIOS found, cannot use it.
To install Windows, I need to update the BIOS, to update the BIOS... I need Windows.

To my knowledge, Windows 7 already contains the SATA/AHCI driver that's why it should not be necessary to add the SATA driver during the installation of Win 7. Had driver for Win XP or Vista installation only.

This is why I would recommend checking another HARD drive and boot from the original disc of Microsoft Win 7.

By the way: the European Toshiba driver page provides the Intel Storage Manager (this package contains the SATA drivers) just to Win XP and Vista so my assumption should be correct that Win 7 doesn't have the SATA driver to recognize the HARD drive during the installation procedure.

  • Pavilion dm4-3090se: how to use the SSD after restoration of the system of Windows backup disks?

    Hello

After a lot of work, I finally could restore my OS using Windows backup disks that I created a few years back. (The OS has been corrupted when the power has been accidentally deleted from the system and the battery was dead)

Restoring backup widows put everything on 444 GB C drive.  Nothing I put on the SSD drive d:-20 GB and there is nothing in the tools of HP E: drive - 4 GB

How can I make use of the SSD drive to help speed up the system?  I see the system starts and runs more slowly now.  I'm ready to blow the current operating system and re-run the Windows backup utility.  But I need to know how to use the SSD during the restoration.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hey @llebrez,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! This is a great place to find solutions and help our community!

I understand that you have some information about using the SSD in your HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook. I'd be happy to help you with that.

The SSD in your laptop is used for a technology called Intel Smart Response. Intel Smart Response uses the SSD as a type of Cache smart to help load the items faster. The reason why that is not used currently is because the restoration of the system is not designed to use the SSD for intelligent caching and is not able to establish that on its own.

If you want to configure Intelligent caching on your laptop, you can follow this guide provided by overclock.net: how: implement the Intel Smart Response Technology (SSD caching)

I hope this helps. If you have more questions that I'm able to answer for you, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Please hold me.

  • Vista Home Premium Screensaver Aurora and the energy of Windows

Since 3 weeks I have had really bad luck with 2 of your screensavers and my 4 graphics cards. I'm not sure what kind of screensavers guys do but 2 named Aurora and Windows energy should never have been released to the public without testing, including the impact on your GPU and overheating.

In the last 3 weeks I was troubleshooting problem vista Home Premium 32 - bit Windows and freezing issues. Card provided with the computer was GeForce 6150 TO work for about 2 months and then computer began to do bad things, freeze, stop, don't work sometimes and some other questions. I thought it was bad GPU so I replaced it with my HIS ATI Radeon X 1950 Pro, this card gave me warnings 12 hours after it has been installed that card is running a little hot and the ATI software will lower FREQ map. This card lasted about 2 days and he died too, but this time model would be just weird points and not whole screen is unreadable. I installed the program called the fan speed to monitor and record what is happening with this card. Computer has been used for business only IE and a few other small programs where ran, no games or anything. Since my last card was fried I replaced it with my GeForce 7900 GT OC, this card gave me the nice amount of needed data, but at the same time, this card lasted only 3 days.

I thought as the fans run at full speed and becomes pleasant cooling perhaps is the PCI-E slot which is a short or something, wrong.
Today I went to the store to buy PCI card, got nice $65 GeForce 6200 and plugged in, the fan speed is ready to record everything, Idle temperatures where 41 C for 47 of the CPU and GPU. I was doing some defragment and antivirus, trying to run the CPU at 100% and record what is happening that I was also running Media player and other programs with Visual effects to see if I can push this cards Temp. above its limits, after 2 hours of messing around with this, I gave up and is gone to smoke a cigarette, returned screensaver has been running (Aurora btw) off and checked the temp. Newspaper.

Fan speed showed warning and GPU temp to 85 C. Then I then and tried the same thing on the screen saver Windows energy and got the same results, just go inside the screensaver and clicking on Aurora screensaver will bring your cards temp at least 5 c in a second.

Since I do not use Vista (and will never) on my home computer, I was wondering if someone with the GTX 200 series can try and test this point and see how many temp. changes on his rig during this operation. I my rig with windows XP pro and don't know if I can get Aurora or energy of Windows XP to test it on my GTX 260 sli.

    Thank you

I would check the power supply. A screen saver will NOT cause to burn three cards. MCDST

  • Dimension of del and the upgrade of WIndows

I have a Dell Dimension 8250 with 2 GB of RAM and a 100 GB hard drive.   I formatted the hard drive, installed a new operating system of Windows XP Professional (original disk Dell) and found the necessary drivers on the web to get everything to work - who themselves were there no questions driver in Device Manager. I checked the computer using the Windows 7 compatabiliy program and apart from a game port problem, he seemed to agree to proceed with the installation of Windows 7 (but not upgraded). Then I tried to install Windows 7 on a genuine Microsoft WIndows 7 upgrade disc and received the failure message:

"Windows has no prepare the computer to start the next phase of the installation." To install Windows, restart the installation. »

Acting on the advice of a non Dell forum (which cannot be correct), I tried to install Windows 7 via an initial upgrade to Vista Home Premium (a Dell disc), but got the same message of failure during the process.

This is why it seems to be just a problem of Windows 7 with the computer. Why we can install Windows XP and not Windows Vista or Windows 7 is a mystery to me. The computer is out of warranty and so there is no way I can get direct advice from Dell.

    There, can anyone help?

There is no integrated on the motherboard graphics and a graphics card is essential.  However, the good news is that I finally worked on a solution to the problem.  I said earlier that Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor has said that my game card was not supported and I intend to replace it later (after the installation of WIndows 7).  This time I removed the card completely and WIndows 7 installed without a hitch.  If I had done it earlier I would have saved myself a lot of time and costs of a new dvd player.

    Thanks anyway for your help.

  • Satellite P20 - formatting drive HARD and the installation of Windows XP Sp2

    Hello world

Beforehand, I want to thank you for taking the time to help me with my questions.

Due to system problems I'm trying to re - install Windows XP SP2.

Based on the installation process, I have two questions:

    1. when I start the PC, the operating system Windows XP installation CD in the CD drive, I am unable to run it directly. Instead the old operating system (which I want to remove) starts. Is there a specific key in the Toshiba P20 notebook that runs the CD automatically? I understand that when the Windows XP installation CD to run it gives me the option to format the HARD drive.

    2. If I want to format the HARD disk directly, what is the best way to do this?

Once again, thank you very much for the help

    Best regards

    Q.

    Hello

I assume that you have the original CD of Microsoft Windows XP.
To install a new OS, you must start on this CD.

Insert the CD and after laptop starting immediately press the F12 key.
This will enable the Startup menu, and then you may choose the CD/DVD drive as the boot source.

    As to question 2;
During the installation of XP Setup will ask you the HARD drive formatting. Simply to choose this option and the HARD drive will be formatted.

    Good bye

It should work. Put in compatibility mode and try to install Windows XP Home edition, but use the Windows XP CD edition SP2 family facilities.
