Migration RAID-0, RAID-1 - how?

Hello
I have a number of R730xd H730 RAID PERC controllers servers.
I configured as JBOD readers by creating a virtual drive for everyone in RAID 0. Each physical disk has its own virtual drive in RAID-0.
Can I move one of them to RAID 1 without losing any data? Can I remove one of the virtual drives on the same controller, so there is a hot spare available.
I found a few references to RAID level migration, but no information on how to actually do.

With another HARD disk installed, when you go to reconfigure the virtual disks, you don't find a place to change manually for a Raid 1. The reconfigure statement tells him to reconfigure the table with the new player. What makes a mirror (Raid 1) then it will rebuild the new drive with the first data drives.

  • Advantages disadvantages & RAID and how to assign Qosmio G30 speed

    Hello.

I heard that the RAID configuration can increase or not the speed... If someone more expert can explain to me how it works?

1.) first of all what is RAID (explain in words that an ignorant in the calculation as I can uderstand)

(2.) what is the difference between raid 0 or raid 1 and how it affects the computer?

(3.) what are the advantages/disadvantages to choose between this two settings?

    Hello

I m not a guru RAID ;) but I used Qosmio G20 with and without a permit to RAID technology and I have not noticed the disadvantages of speed.

I see that you are a beginner and so I will try to explain the RAID feature very easily ;)
What is RAID? RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) allows to save data.

The RAID reflected the content of the first HARD drive to the second HARD drive. This means that all the files (depending on the RAID settings) that are stored on the HDD1 is also stored on HDD2. If the HDD1 will damage, you will be able to recover everything from the HDD2 unit.

The two s of HARD drive can be used with mirror RAID-1 or RAID-0 stripping
When you use RAID-1, data is stored twice (once on each of the hard disks) so if there are problems with one of the hard drives, the other HARD disk can be used to retrieve the data.
But you can use only two hard drives as a single HARD drive. (2 disks hard = 1 HDD)

When you use RAID 0 (stripping) met by the operating system size is two times more!
Using RAID-0 configuration, all data on both disks will be lost, even if only one of the two disks fails!

I think that the RAID is very useful because it safes the contents of HARD drive!
Of course, if you use the mirroring option, you can only use the a HDD available!
But you are on the site course ;)

  • first converted to GPT and after create a raid 5, how do I do this?

    Hello

I have a poweredge server R720 installed vmware server esxi 5.5, OS, 4 300 GB HDD.  My R720 has 4 virtual machine (dominio control, server applications...)

Now, the company´s bought a switchable controller to hot disk hard 4 and powervault md 1220 for be my storage server.

And I know mbr partittion support only 2 TB and I would like to set up my new hard drive as partittion TPG. How can I do this? Before that I have create my raid convert GPT mbr? The BIOS Setup or time I´ll to create my raid on perc controller BIOS?

    Thank you

When you add the new storage space available?

Anyway, if you have a VMFS, always using MBR 5, if you go beyond the limit of 2 TB, the partition type will automatically change to the GPT.

  • PE 2950, PERC6, RAID 5 - How to rebuild drive

    Hello everyone!

    I have a big problem with a PE 2950 with a perc6 / i ctrl and raid 5 system.

disc number 5 amber flashing and the brand utility player as incorrect.

I replaced the drive and now it blinks green... but... I can't rebuild the disk!

How to do? I started the utility bios (CTRL + R at the start), and she acknowledged the new disk as foreign.

When I hit F2 (operation button) on the new drive, I can only start or stop flashing. The menu of reconstruction is not available...

    How can I do?

    I'll import the foreign config?

Thank you all in advance for your help,

    See you soon,.

    Steve

If it is the spare foreign reports object import configuration because it was never part of the RAID array.

The status of your RAID 5 is degraded? If so, you can tab over foreigners view tab, press F2 on controller 0 and select this option for foreign claire under foreign Config.

This should put the replacement drive in a ready state, from which you can choose to assign as a global hot spare, which will inaugurate a new building.

  • T310 with S300 in RAID 5 - How to rebuild after replacing a disc?

Got a T310 here with 4x250GB drives configured in RAID 5. Had a disk fails, and the controller signals the RAID as degraded. I replaced the drive with a known good. The S300 automatically rebuilt? I went in the controller menu to make sure that he saw the car, which she did, and I let it sit for awhile, but I do not see that the new drive is part of the table. I tried the hot spare configuration, but it is not picking it up to rebuild the table.

I'm trying to do it in the controller, because Windows runs very slowly at the moment, and I hope that it is because the table is in a drive. I tried to install open manage, but the system seems to hang when it tries to open the executable file.

It is the latest version of the OMSA:
    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=6XJTF&FILEID=3449087462&osCode=WS8R2&ProductCode=PowerEdge-T310&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=SM

Download the EXE and then run to extract the files. Run C:\Openmanage\Windows\setup.exe, and then add yourservernameorip:1311 to the Intranet of THE area.

Many things may prevent it from automatically rebuild. It should start to rebuild in a minute to be assigned as a hot spare. If not, the drive can not be suitable as a spare drive (too small, bad type (SAS/SATA/SSD), incompatible (NAS, desktop/laptop, not certified), or if the table has become corrupted. Is what model of drive? You ARE able to define it as a backup, right? If this is not the case, make sure that the drive is not listed on the PD MGMT screen in CTRL-R as "foreigners".

  • My tags and filters disappear when I migrate to another computer. How to get those back?

I use Thunderbird to work, and I need to use several computers (desktop and laptop - Mac). I was able to successfully migrate everything by copying the profile folder, but the tags and filters exceed. The address book either, but I just use the import/export for this tool. I crept over all files filter, but it still does not. I manually create tags, but when I mark an e-mail on one computer, it won't label it on the other.

Thank you, Diego. It turns out that the module does not work with the latest version, but this one does: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/tb-import-export-wind-li-port/?src=search

I installed it and it picked up my filters and my color labels.

sys_refcursor is available on 9i, here is the sample code that I tried...

create or replace procedure getAllHierarchies (oc_sysrc out sys_refcursor)

    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN

Then the procedure is called in this way...

    DECLARE

    BEGIN
      getAllHierarchies(refCursorValue);

  • P7-1439 RAID (1) Setup

Our Church has a P7-1439 PC with motherboard Jasmine (MS-7778).  This card uses the chipset AMD A75 FCH.  I changed the SATA RAID mode, but the BIOS Raid utility does not appear in the POST and the raidXpert software allow me to select the main existing drive as the source for the mirrored pair.  Does anyone know how to enter the RAID BIOS on this system utility?  Or how to set up a mirrored (RAID 1) volume pair?

    Thank you

Solved this problem.  Disabling Secure Boot was insufficient.  I had to enable Legacy support, then the Option Rom displayed at the STATION.  Next question was that CTRL-F did not work.  Switch the keyboard to a USB port, it had not been on before resolved that and CTRL-F was recognized during POST when the ROM option.  Using the optional ROM utility, I was able to create a loan volume of RAID by selecting the primary drive (boot) and by setting the parameter initializiztion to "None".  Once this has been done the RAIDXpert instructions worked very well migrate RAID 1 volume.

  • Desktop Dell XPS 8500 - complete Instructions for the necessary Raid 1 configuration

Hi, soon I will get this system and it consists of the 256 GB ssd for the OS, etc and has 2 GB SATA for data. The ssd has his own connection to the Board of Directors and that leaves "2no" 6 GB/s & 2No / 3 GB/s sata ports on the card. The OS is windows 7 ult, but I don't want to use software raid.

I bought a 2nd disc identical sata hard and want to configure hardware raid 1 for data. I am assuming they will be connected to the 6 Gbps ports because there will be 2 optical drives that I hear are connected to ports / 3 GB/s

Can anyone provide a step by step instructions regarding the implementation of raid 1 as soon as I get the computer. It will be used until I have set up the raid. If you can try to fool it would be great (for example I have to disconnect the ssd before setting up the raid, the new sata drive has to be formatted first, etc?)

I'm sure support Dell can instruct me on how to do it, but I am usually able to do minor hardware upgrades and have done things as OS reinstalls before so I don't know with a clear set of instructions, it should not be too difficult!

Thanks for any help you can give

There are two processes that allows to set up a RAID.  The technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology console and the Intel Option ROM RAID configuration utility.  Intel recommends using the console of RST on a system that already has Windows installed and working, but I do not know why the RAID configuration utility could not be used as long as the system drive must not be included in the RAID.

If the RAID configuration utility is used, you end up with an empty RAID volume that must be partitioned and formatted as any hard drive, you add to the computer.  This is done by using the disk management application.  If the RST console is used to migrate RAID from a drive with data on it, the RAID created will have the same structure that we find on the disc for the migration, so partitioning and formatting would be necessary.

To use the console of the RST, consider this: Intel Rapid Storage Technology User Guide.  Article 8 contains information specific to your goal.  The document also covers the RAID configuration utility, however, so it would be a good idea to consult the entire guide.  The computer must have the RAID mode is enabled before attempting to set up a RAID.  The guide gives a 'how', but remember the screens shown are for motherboards from Intel which differ slightly from the version of Dell.  The guide also provides information about using the RAID configuration utility.  The biggest difference between the use of the console of the RST and the RAID configuration utility, the Setup utility doesn't allows you to move from an existing drive.

  • deletion of Raid

I have a new HP Pavilion Phoenix h9 - 1150t with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I added two hard drives from my old Dell XPS Windows XP for extra storage space. The hard drives in the Dell were connected in a Raid1 (mirror) configuration. I have the disks formatted, run diskpart cleanup, deleted partitions. HP still reads as one of the disks instead of two. In Device Manager, the drive is listed as Intel Raid 1 Volume SCSI Disk Device. On the bios screen, two readers are listed separately, so I know that they are correctly connected. When I disable the driver in Device Manager, the disk disappears from the computer. When the pilot is on, it appears only as a drive in disk management. In addition, when HP starts, a screen of my old Dell appears briefly showing the MATRIX Raid. How can I get rid of the Raid configuration so I can use the two disks as independent storage devices.

I would appreciate any help on this matter. Thank you, John

Solved the problem myself. Managed to access the installation of the Raid Controller during startup and deleted configuring raid on the added two hd now, they are listed as separate.

  • Convert a RAID non RAID?

I have a Dell computer with two 1 TB drives in a RAID array.  I would like to convert these disks in a regular table non-raid. How can I go about it?  In the BIOS, I see that the sata is configured for RAID, but I don't want change there without knowing what else this way.

    Thank you!

    John

Thank you both for the quick responses!  Thanks to a Dell support conversation, I broke the RAID1 array in two standalone players (control - I have started and then 'delete Raid Array' I can now see the second unit of disk in Windows, at startup, etc., but the Configuration of Windows disk utility does not create volumes.)  He says he has a "signature conflict."  Is there a way I can format this disk section?

    Thank you!
