deletion of Raid

I have a new HP Pavilion Phoenix h9 - 1150t with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I added two hard drives from my old Dell XPS Windows XP for extra storage space. The hard drives in the Dell were connected in a Raid1 (mirror) configuration. I have the disks formatted, run diskpart cleanup, deleted partitions. HP still reads as one of the disks instead of two. In Device Manager, the drive is listed as Intel Raid 1 Volume SCSI Disk Device. On the bios screen, two readers are listed separately, so I know that they are correctly connected. When I disable the driver in Device Manager, the disk disappears from the computer. When the pilot is on, it appears only as a drive in disk management. In addition, when HP starts, a screen of my old Dell appears briefly showing the MATRIX Raid. How can I get rid of the Raid configuration so I can use the two disks as independent storage devices.

I would appreciate any help on this matter. Thank you, John

Solved the problem myself. Managed to access the installation of the Raid Controller during startup and deleted configuring raid on the added two hd now, they are listed as separate.

  • Z210: Bad support/problem with recovery of an Z210 system when changing the RAID configuration backup

My Z210 accompanies stripped Bay RAID-0, which currently consists of 2 x 1 TB HDD where the OS partition. I want to change that in RAID-1 mirror, but as the application of TSRI does no such RAID level migration, I thought I would try another approach.

As a solution, I'd do a backup using the Windows backup and restore application. Then, I would change the table using the Boot ROM TSRI before restoring the backup to this new array. But obviously backup 1.9 TB in a table of 932GB will not

So, to make a backup, I firstly disabled 'System Protection' and the file 'Page '. This allowed me to reduce the OS partition to about 50 GB using disk management. Then I re - activate 'System Protection' and the 'Page file' before making the backup and the creation of a system recovery disk. This resulted in a backup of 35 GB that I stocked up on a USB external drive. And now a backup of 35 GB can fit on my reconfigured 932GB RAID - 1 mirror

As such, I cold booted my system and during the boot process, I pressed CTRL-I to get the State of mind RAID Intel Boot ROM. you, CTRL-I've worked only if I started cold and the HP USB keyboard directly connected the first USB slot at the back of the system. The first USB slot is at the top left when you look at the back with the portrait of the tower. Connect the HP USB keyboard in USB port or in the hub of my Dell monitor does not allow me to access the ROM to Boot Intel RAID!

HP should really study this fault

In any case, when I could access the Intel RAID Boot ROM, I deleted the RAID-0 stripped existing and created a new RAID-1 mirror. Obviously, the process is destructive and wipe the BONES of the table but that's what my backup was to

Then I started on the Windows system recovery disk, plugged the USB external drive and proceeded to recover my system.

Everything worked as expected with the operating system partition uses about 50 GB. A simple trip to disk management enabled me to extend the volume to occupy the space allocated, as presented by the RAID-1 array. As such, I find myself with about 932 GB partition that appear in the windows disk management tool. After a check disk and reboot (which fixed some minor issues) all seemed well.

    But no, everything was fine

Well that ROM boot RAID Intel sees that a mirror RAID-1 about 932 GB and the operating system sees a partition about 932 GB, both as expected, demand for Intel RST in windows States the following:

I don't seem to have indication of what type of table, it is, an options to change the name of the table or an option to check the integrity of the array through the TSRI application in windows. If something is screwed

But after the update for the application of iRST version 10.6.0.1002 Intel (the newest HP of) version 11.2.0.1006 (version Intel got very practice), the question seems to correct itself. Now the RAID, Windows boot ROM and the request of TSRI in Windows all agree that the table is indeed a mirror RAID-1 932 GB.

I don't know what caused the problem, if it's related to something that was wrong with the process that I used, if she is simply resolved by reinstalling driver, or if this is a fix for a known issue that Intel has included in their questions later from the pilot.

But what I know is that Intel has resolved a number of issues in the version 12.9.0.1001 driver (which is the latest version for the Cougar Point chipsets) compared to the old driver version 10.6.0.1002 HP has on its support page for the Z210.

And HP seems unwavering in his lack of interest in the Intels 12.9.0.1001 test pilot and then make it available on its support page for what is a product still under warranty

It is a mediocre service if you ask me...

Some HP forum administrator or HP support person hide these forums should impose it in the HP management station and get it looked at. The Z210 is still under warranty for some customers and HP needs to pick up the latest drivers available to all suppliers, test them and then release them to their customers via the support page for this product. All the rest is little change us all.

I was able to resolve the application problem Intel RST by updating to the latest v11.2.0.1006 Intel driver but it has highlighted a few points that HP should address, see linked post above.

  • Satellite U940 PSU6VA - recover after removing the software RAID

    * My specifications: *.
    * Model: * Toshiba Ultrabook (Satellite PSU6VA - 00S 002 U940)
    * Operating system: * Windows 8.1 x 64 (upgrade of Windows 8 x 64)
    * Storage: * 500 GB + SSD 30 GB HARD drive

This particular model of Toshiba comes with two hard drives (a HARD drive and SSD) and uses the SSD for caching purposes. I think to disable this caching so that I can use the SSD for other purposes.

However, according to the observations of MannerhagenVPO in [this thread | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=79976]:
-This caching is implemented with a software RAID
-To access the SSD, you must remove the RAID software
-Once deleted, software RAID can be restored by an authorized Service Professional. Even the Toshiba recovery media will not be able to restore it.

I'm not really worried about permanently losing the caching features. What concerns me is this: the Toshiba recovery media will always be able to restore Windows 8 (but without caching)? Or the recovery media Toshiba will become completely useless if software RAID is deleted?

As far as I know the RAID features will be removed if replace you / remove or change the SSD or HARD disk drive.

In any case, using recovery media created by Toshiba Recovery media creator software you should be able to reinstall the Toshiba preinstalled system

  • PX6 - 300 d - double Raid 1 is not possible?

Hi guys, I hope I'm missing something, so I'm tender hand to support community. I've had a px6 for awhile now. I love. Works very well with VMWare hypervisors. I've been running a RAID 1 and a RAID 5 for over a year without any problems.

Now, my needs have changed. I run 2 raid-1 matrices. I deleted my raid-5 array and don't see Ano option in the list to create another Raid-1. Why is this? I see raid-10, but not what I need. Just another Raid-1.

In my case, I need to divide the disk IO system in another array of disks in raid1. Simply becoming the current Raid1 is not enough, because there a lot of requests for e/s which should not weigh down the second raid-1 array. I need raid1 because of the performance and the protection it offers.

Can someone comment on the creation of another array of Raid-1? I hope that I don't need to buy another NAS compete for this task.

    Thanks for the tips!

Figured it out. There is a bug in the GUI. Once you have 1 raid-1 array configured, there is no option to create an another raid-1 array. BUT, if you select a new table and set of raid-10, it can reset to raid-1 on the creation. I have now 2 tables separated from Raid1 created by doing it this way. They are NOT wiped off of mirrors raid-10.

  • Setting up RAID 1 on 810 Phoenix ENVY

    Hello

I just got my DESIRE 810-150se with two 1 TB drives.  I expected to be configured to RAID 1, it is configured in RAID 0. I made three calls to HP, but I was not able to get information on how to change the configuration.

I suspect that what I have to do is to delete the RAID volume, and create a new. I know that will delete everything on the drives. That's fine, but I can't find any way to access the RAID configuration in the BIOS. There is an option under RAID or AHCI storage but I can't find how Manage the RAID array.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    RSchlierbeck

    Update:

It's mostly the response. CTRL + i does not work on my pc so I was not able to configure the RAID array in the bios. I had to take a path a little more closely.

The notice on the third drive was really good. Using a third disc allowed me to use the windows utility base Intel. Here's how I did it.

    1. Installing third drive of the same size and start-up in windows. Initialize the drive as GPT.
    2. Reboot into BIOS and disable secure boot.
    3. PC power off the power and unplug the two original disks.
    4. Put the first disc of recovery media (I did the DVD instead of USB)
    5. Boot into the BIOS, and then select start up options. Select the DVD.
    6. Recover on a single disc.
    7. Turn off the power and connect one of the original disks.
    8. Power and start up in windows.
    9. Use the Intel utility to create a new RAID 1 volume and assign the current readers.
    10. Let the utility rebuild the table.
    11. Turn off and unplug the third drive. Plug the second of the original disks.
    12. Power and start up in windows.
    13. Use windows powershell to run diskpart
    14. Select the second disk, and use the clean command to remove all partition information. (http://www.winability.com/delete-protected-efi-disk-partition/)
    15. Run Disk Manager to initialize the disk.
    16. Use utility Intel to mark the disc newly added as a spare for the volume.
    17. Restart Windows and let the RAID Utility rebuild the volume.

It was a long journey around the block, so to speak, but I was able to create the RAID 1 array and I works fine now. As a bonus, I connected the third drive and deleted from the table so it could be used as an additional drive in the system.

I'm sure about why you can't manage the array from the BIOS, but using ctrl + i does not work. The utility tries to start, but then the system signals that it is missing or configured incorrectly. I guess that there is a way to get a version of UEFI, but I don't know how or even where to go to find it.

Fortunately it can all be Windows with the Intel utility. It takes just.

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction with this. He did the difference between the maintenance of my new PC instead of having to return and buy a new.

  • Conversion of Raid 1 configuration to 1 normal hard drive with Windows XP Professional

I have a Dell Precision Workstation 380, which has been set up at the factory in Raid 1 with 2 Seagate 160 GB hard drives.  The operating system is Windows XP Professional.  I would like to delete the Raid 1 configuration and that the computer is a normal hard drive configuration 1.  Can someone help me with a step by step procedure to achieve this?

    Hi cbcenterplus,

RAID 1 means that you essentially two drives separated with identical information. In order to break the RAID is simple. Start on the Intel RAID Option Rom utility (ctrl + I), replace two disks drives non-members, and then restart your computer.  The 2nd disc will receive a new drive letter, and you can get in shape by using the disk management and have extra space.

Hello jimn5dc, sorry to hear that you have so much trouble. Whenever you create a new Raid, Raid0 (striped) or Raid1 (mirror) as you mentioned you tried, you will always be required to reinstall the operating system once the Raid array is created. Then, you will need to reinstall all your applications.

The BIOS must also be configured as a Raid system. The reason that your recovery restore disk will work not on the Raid array is him was made to a single hard drive and can't find one when you try to reinstall the recovery software.

It is not recommended to set up a Raid array using an external hard drive because of differences in read/write in the clos and external hard drives. The external hard drive will always run slower for read/write operations, and interfere with the performance of Raid array and probably want all of work.

You should be able to install the new hard drive in the case and then enter the Intel Raid utility and create the Raid 1 array. It is strongly recommended that the two hard drives in a Raid array be the same ability, size, and cache. They can be from different manufacturers, but that is not recommended either. It is better to have identical hard drives to a Raid array, at least in a HP System. Some class systems business can manage different capacity disks, etc., but these are usually controlled by a special hard drive controllers and not controllers shipped on most home systems.

When you create or delete a RAID of any type, you will lose all data on all hard drives.

When you install the operating system on the new Raid array, a new Master Boot Record (MBR) will be created which will allow the operating system to use on the new Raid array.

As far as I know, there is no other way to do this. Others may know differently, but I've been using Raid arrays for 20 years and it's the only way I know how to set up a Raid array.

I just bought (and waiting for delivery of) a machine XPS 720 and I will be eager to delete the Raid 0 among the readers. I guess I would need to do the first action I think I have to reinstall the operating system later.

  • Dell PowerEdge 2900 RAID and drive down

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 server. The primary transmission table has three drives and RAID 5. The system came this way, and it has been humming for quite a long time. Recently, one of the disks has deteriorated and the light on the drive flashes green and light amber. The light amber, I figured, it means that there is a problem with the drive and must be replaced. Then, I found a replacement on Amazon.com drive and installed (the drive is hot, but my cold started to be sure). I installed the drive, but keeps flashing green and amber light.

I didn't know that I shouldn't have to replace the drive in this way, so I will now try to figure out what to do next. I hoped to reallocate the foreign disk so that I can use it, but my server always shows the reader, not having even if the new replacement drive is in the slot, now.

    I'm running PERC 5 / I integrated utility of Configuration Bios 1.04 - 019 a

I started the server and you press CTRL-R. I've highlighted the controller and press the F2 key, what is operations. When the operations window opens, there are three menu items:

    Create new VD
    Zero Config reset
    Foreign config

The only thing that I am allowed to do in this menu is to reset the configuration. I can't move my cursor upwards or downwards for one of the other choice of two menu.

Scroll when the virtual disk and he discovers, it still shows the first two discs and a lack.

When I press CTRL + N to display the next screen, I see a player listed as failed.

How can I rebuild my RAID with this new drive? If I can't do it, what is the best way to remove the RAID and start over? If I delete the RAID and do it again (and if my replacement drive is indeed well), how can I make sure that my server not to see it, not having so that I can start using it?

Alternating flashing green/orange means that the disc is in a status of predictive failure. What OS is running system? If you hotswap drive next failure they may possibly other issues table because the drive was online and participating in the table with errors on the disk. The adequate alternative method is to use our software Openmanage Server Administrator to run a consistency check on the table and then the drive offline. Once this has been done you can then swap the drive. It seems that in your case, that the new drive had bad data copied on it and it made a predictive failure as well. We want to do is run our hard drive diagnostics and test drives in the system.

    Thanks for any help.

When you use the option ROM Intel to set up a RAID, the drives are initialized before established the RAID volume.  Your data may still be present, but as an earlier poster said, you will need to go to a data recovery provider to get.  For later use, you must use the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, or his later incarnation, the technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology, application to build a RAID from a working drive.  Normally, a RAID 1 will rebuild automatically if you have removed a faulty drive and install a new, white, this hard drive place of the failed disk.

The Intel product requires Windows to be installed and running before it can be used.  There is also a download for the driver only, but which is used during the installation of Windows if the SATA driver is missing from your Windows installation CD-ROM.
