MIMO 5 GHz outdoor deployment.

Hello..

We are interested in adding 5 GHz N MIMO to our existing 2.4 ghz wifi outdoor hotspots. We currently have 3 x 1310 ap popular with off-road MSO24014 antennas (seen in the photo attached) at the top of the towers of 19 feet...

I'm looking to either 3 x 1532E AP is paired with 8 dBi antennas AIR-ANT2588P3M-N or 3 x 2603 paired with the AIR-ANT2566P4W-R antenna 6dBi.

Here are my questions:

The 1532E has a 27dbi tx power (500mw), while the 2603 has only one power TX 23 dbi (200mw)... Both are obviously better than the 1310's 20dbi tx (100 MW) power. But how much is too much? It seems that these 1532e to complete tx paired with 2588P3M antenna 8 dbi could push the signal too far for mobile devices respond.

I'm curious to know how a cisco dbi omni antenna 5 run on these tours if it is mounted on the structure of the metal tower. The towers would not a time due to obvious reflection size would be the cause?

I thought to put the antennas around the mark of 17 feet...

My goal is to make the existing towers while leaving the 2.4gh only pure 5 GHz N MIMIO. Bringing cellular coverage in good quality coverage but not too much because he is an RV Park.

I'm curious how an omni 5 dbi cisco antenna would perform on these towers if mounted on the metal tower structure. Would it be a waist of time due to the obvious reflection pattern the towers would cause?

The antenna you will use are directional antenna.  The "reflection" of the tower is very neglibable.

I was thinking about placing the antennas around the 17 foot mark.

You tilt the antenna patch up a few degrees to the ground.

The question you have is that roof of these recreational vehicles are made of metal.  Unless you have an external antenna that comes out, the signal, or some of them will be bouncing off the roof.

But how much is too much? It seems like these 1532e's at full tx paired with the 8 dbi 2588P3M antenna might push the signal too far for mobile devices to respond

Your assumption is correct.  Too much power does not guarantee that the antenna could pick up the response from customers.  Another thing, how do you intend to deploy the AP and the antenna.  More co - ax between the AP and the antenna cable more signal loss is going to be.

  • 2015 Macbook Pro 2.8 GHz > 16GB RAM 1 TB > PCIe SSD > overheating with Thunderbolt Display 27 "> Constant MAX RPM fan speed

    Hello community,

First of all, I want to congratulate Apple on the construction of such a laptop well. It is a luxury product that is clearly desired by most people, which I understand very well that he's a new owner. But entering the heart of the problem that I face outside this machine being an external engineering masterpiece.

    Professional background:

I'm a computer engineer / scientist / programmer by profession. I am currently employed at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) as a Senior Consulting Engineer level IV for their BIG Data Software Division. Yes, I program (Java and c#), scripts (powershell, batch and SQL), solutions architect, design, to test software and debugging, implement large enterprise-level solutions ranging from a cluster of 2 mirrors servers-to-of thousands of servers to multiple clusters (even from a perspective of work station of the missions of deployment from 200 KB - to - 50 jobs in the world) work with SQL databases on a daily basis, working with storage devices (SAN mutli-million dollar NAS and DAS), provide an infrastructure troubleshooting and problem resolution, have 8 international recognised certifications, a degree of master of science and involved with concerts on the side as well as build computers as a hobby. My computer knowledge is vast and my RESUME goes beyond what I have briefly described. It is important that I give this background to demonstrate that my level of computer knowledge is beyond the scope of this post.

    Laptop Usecase:

Recently I bought mid-2015 Macbook Pro 15 "2.8 GHz Intel i7 quad core, AMD dedicated GPU, 16 GB of RAM, 1 Portable SSD PCIe TB from an authorized Apple dealer. To maximize the beauty of this gem, I also bought a monitor Thunderbolt Apple 27 "due to its ability to offer a dedicated gigabit NIC and additional USB connectors. Basically, the screen acts as a central docking for the laptop and offers additional i/o that does not have the laptop (somewhat a disappointment that it's called a 'PRO' for laptop - this can be discussed in an extra thread).

I will mostly use the laptop for tasks related to work as operating on dozens of remote servers via RDP, using office 2011 and 2016 Lync, Eclipse for Java programming, access the HPE intranet for related tasks at work, set up conference calls, connection with clients remotely via WebEx or TeamViewer and typical everyday computing. For fun, I'll use the laptop to compose music through Logic Pro X, browsing the Web, doing work with Photoshop/Lightroom/and other products Adobe, Web browsing, Email, Youtube, NetFlix, coding, and other basis for computing tasks.

    Question:

I am primarily an engineer Windows to the heart and don't work well with Unix/Linux, so forgive me if certain acronyms and terminology is slightly outside when it comes to the OS.

The question that I am currently facing is how HOT and high cell phone VOICE gets during very little use. It seems that, given the 27 "Apple Thunderbolt connected display cause heating and the fans to be excessive and loud. 'A little' work around the question I unplugged the lightning poster power adapter and have dedicated the trendy laptop adapter. It 'a bit' reduces the amount of heat generated, which reduces the speed of the fan to be a little less quiet. However, the noise level of fans and heat is not reduced enough to convince me!

After the control process during the time of the laptop being extremely strong and warm, I noticed the only vivid process is the process of "kernel_task". However, I debunked this theory by leaving the unit to return to a normal state, that required me disconnected the Thunderbolt display, and the process ran again without all the negative effects of heat and noise.

So, why Apple would create a laptop that indicates the external monitor is fully compatible, can support up to 2 external displays with no problems and provides a support for this configuration, if there are any other problems when connecting?

    * Please do not provide responses that I have received a bad laptop or a bad monitor. Appears not to be the case because when I am doing absolutely nothing on the machine, heat is minimal and the fans are 'enough' quiet, even when connected to the Thunderbolt display. However, even simple web browsing on the Thunderbolt display forces do MAX out fans and heat is generated quickly.

I love this laptop. His elegant, fun to work on, is luxurious and is a potential item that meets all my needs. But I just can't justify spending more than $4 K on a configuration that will cause problems and significantly reduce the lifetime of the laptop.

1 should I return the laptop and love at first sight appear and waiting for Skylake edition which will be released in the coming months (energy consumption reduced, rising in power and performance, and (?) one possible different GPU that excels much better than 'crap' AMD GPU?

    2. or should I paste and see if a solution or resolution is proposed to the issues that I am experiencing?

    3. I see the same problems all over the internet. Anyone else here has the same problems?

    4. why Apple would invest in this GPU 'cheap' for such a machine power? AMD? Really? (< (less="" than)="" $150="">

    5. How can I host a Lync call with clients when I hear more the laptop that I can hear them?

    My thoughts:

I spent $6 000.00 on the construction of an incredible machine at home. It has an Intel i7 5960 X Octa-Core processor, nVidia GTX 980, 64 GB RAM Corsair DDR4, 12 TB of disk 7200 RPM, a 512GB SSD for the OS and temporary storage, power 1200 Watt, card reader 5 in 1, a player Blu Ray optical blazing fast, liquid cooling, a Premium Asus Sound Card, the card mother 'best!' on the market (I finished this statement that fans just went back to MAX RPM0 - maybe) because I'm throwing my personal build an Apple forum?), a mechanical keyboard, mouse laser with 12 K dpi and five monitors 24 ".

I was willing to spend that money on a laptop of luxury that I can travel with, but is it really worth what I'm going through? Also, others on the Internet said they have returned their Macbook Pro for the same model without the dedicated GPU and no longer meet the problem. BUT why someone would invest $3 K in a machine without a good graphics card? IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.

PLEASE, I BEG YOU! Can someone help APPLE me this question?

If I am not convinced to the contrary, Apple then lost me as a customer forever and return to Windows, I oppose the $4 500.00 I spent. If I am convinced to stay, then Apple will get $4K out of me at all times every 3-4 years, I invested in most any software.

Also, if I can post a video showing you what I'm listening to, then you will be in shock. Honestly, I'd like to keep this machine, but I need help to understand what is happening and what can be done to correct the problem.

    Thank you

Everyone from Apple have a preview? I am pretty surprised to have not received a response.

  • Ralink WIreless adapter N TouchSmart 600xt (600-600/t): problem w / 5 GHz 802.11n and DD - WRT fw

I really didn't have a good experience with HP support trying to figure why my wireless 5 GHz N is not yet detected by my new 600xt.  I tried to load the latest Ralink drivers and it made no difference.  There are a few settings in Device Manager on 5 GHz so I have reason to believe that it does not support 5 GHz as some previous TouchSmart users had trouble with.

This network is detected by my Dell laptop almost 2 years very well, so I didn't expect this.  My environment really demands N connectivity and even though I have a structured wiring all through my house, it is not likely that the location of this machine will get wired anytime soon.

I'm using DD - WRT firmware on a WRT600N router.  The DD - WRT software is a 2.4 version, but it's not the newest.  It is:

    DD - WRT v24 - sp2 (07/21/09) std - build 12533

If someone has already tried a newer version or more old firmware thanks for posting your experiences.

I had checked that the country in Ralink settings setting should be #7.  Nothing else seems not to apply to this problem.

I just got my 600xt the other day, but before I bought it I was wondering if 802.11n adapter that support 5 GHz.  It is my understanding that not all do.  I found a card for the 600-1050 version that says this:

    Integrated Bluetooth and WLAN 802.11b/g/n single-band (2.4 Ghz), 2 x 2 featuring MIMO technology

So I didn't even try helping with my band of 5 GHz on my router.  If yours is as well, so you will not be able to use the 5 GHz.

    Hope that helps.

  • design of huge cell MIMO 3 x 3 using splitters and antenna external omni

    Hello

    The requirements are the following:

Offers complete coverage for a basement.

Maximum number of users competitor is between 5-10

    VoIPoWlan

    Low bandwidth

In the basement is distinguished from corridors and technicrooms isolated by thick walls brick and metal doors.

In order to ensure full cogerage voip would require a large number of AP they are quire expensive and high flow is not required.

Is it a good idea to use only a few AP with dividers and external antennas?

    For example:

    1 x dual band AP 3 x 3 mimo

3 x dispatchers dual band, each of them has 3 output ports

    3 dual-band 3 x 3 mimo antennas 2 omni and a directional

The basement has 2 rooms and a corridor.

Each of the rooms has an omni antenna installed, corridor has one directional.

    Antennas are connected by separators.

Given that the cable lengths are not the same, I may need to use amplifiers also. Is this correct?

What about the problem of the node that is hidden, when 2 wlan stations are connected to the same access point can not hear each other?

This cell can be huge. I gave a small example, but in our project, we need cover a basement of a square that contains many rooms and corridors. Obviously, you must use several AP + combos splitter basically repeat this small example, I gave.

The main goal is to save money by reducing the number of AP and switches. We did the sitesurvey we found that 40-45 AP is needed. My idea is to use up to 10 AP + battery separator.

Has anyone done a similar deployment?

    The disadvantages?

    Thank you!

    István

MIMO radios are filled with a lot of very complex mathematics.  It phase shifts handels, changes of time, reflections, roaming, etc..  You are wanting to fundamentally change the design of their operation.

    It will be terribly.

If it were me, I would correctly, based on the your wireless site survey, or not at all.  I don't want to be associated with a design that works badly.  I would walk first of employment.  But that's me.

It is your reputation and your choice.

  • 1240AG vs 1522 outdoor

Installation of wireless coverage (no mesh) outside in a business park. Mounting on the sides of buildings (10 meters from the ground). If 1240AG is used the PA will be mounted inside the building or outside in one envelope, if 1522 used the AP will be mounted outside. Problems mounting are not considered here. The question: is there an advantage to the use of 1522 against 1240AG? Only 2.4 ghz coverage is necessary, the 5 GHz could be used for the redirection in the future. 1522 2.4 ghz power max is 300mW, while 1240AG 2.4 ghz power max is 50 MW. I think that regardless of this difference I suppose always the distance max 300 feet to the customer. Clients are laptops and smartphones.

    Roman,

I've done both and both have their advantages and disadvantages.  What to watch in your design, is the customer.  What type of customer and how you can match to the top of the record customer than the AP.  When we used a 1522 for wireless coverage, customers had HI output cards that turn off also 200mW and we could make this work and extend coverage where using an internal AP (100mW max) would not provide.  However, the indoor access point has it's pro... especially with normal customers... laptops, iPads, etc..  They are cheaper, but the mounting material can increase the fairly high cost.  With the inside of the AP, you can associate basically TX AP exit with customers.  Required data rate can also be a problem in your choice, so know that customers, you will have WiFi outdoor and rquirements looking, either one can work.

  • State of the #2 NSX controller node remains on the DEPLOYMENT

    Hi all

    ************************************************

Let me start by describing my laboratory:

    vSphere 5.1 = > vCloud Director 5.1 = > vApp = > nested ESXi 6.0.u1 = > vcsa (outdoor installation) 6.0.u1 + NSX 6.1.4 Manager + NSX controller

    ************************************************

I am facing a strange behave of my NSX Manager.

I have deployed the first node in the cluster of my controller with no problems and when I deployed the second node, the device has successfully deployed but never started. In addition, the status of this new controller is stuck on the "deployment." I started the #2 controller and check is (see the control cluster status) and everything is ok.

I already tried without any improvement for:

    • Shut down the node, and then restart the Manager only
    • Restart the new node and the Manager,
    • keep the node running, then restart the Manager

Sounds like a problem of database. Is a person of experience already the same?

I will try to find a way to get and clear the record in the base during this time, do not hesitate to suggest

    Thanks in advance

Finally, I thought about using the API NSX to go further.

I've performed a GET method to list my controllers and their status through https://NSXManagerIP/api/2.0/vdn/controller.

I was able to confirm the status of the second node

As the method is not allowed (please, please let me know if I'm wrong) I had to remove the controller to do this, I launched a https://NSXManagerIP/api/2.0/vdn/controller/controller-2?forceRemoval=FalseDELETE method.

I was then able to re-deploy my controller :-)

PS: Note that if you delete the last controller, you will have to force the deletion by using the command https://NSXManagerIP/api/2.0/vdn/controller/controller-2?forceRemoval=true.

  • Issue during deployment template OVF (5.5 ESXI)

    Hello

I created a virtual machine with the default and exported parameters model OVF out of it and deployed the new virtual machine with this model. Everything works very well.

But if I change some of the CPU and other options in my virtual machine and create the model of the OVF... creation works fine, but this model will not deploy properly.

Please help me to understand what might have gone wrong!  (If I delete these lines in the ovf file then deployment works fine)

It looks like a bug... AMD reference is added when the "Advanced" option is just clicked and no change is made (for CPU mask).

This causes compatibility problems when you deploy ovf template.

A point of view server although things appear. Each server has 128 GB of RAM and CPU should be fine. It really depends on the workload generated by your users '40-50. They are power users? What kind of applications they use? Alternatively, you can consider starting with a smaller amount of memory for each office. Some in this forum have reported good results with 1 GB of memory. We had good performance with 2 GB if memory in our deployments. Getting the right memory size will give your cluster more room for manoeuvre. Do you really need to give each VM 2 vCPUs?

    SAN:

    EqualLogic PS4100XV

    24 146 GB 15 k SAS, Raid10

    Two controllers

You should do some calculations to see how'RE Ops / s you need your storage space in order to provide a good user experience. You use linked clones? If so then take a look more close to your storage space. In our case, we also used a SAN Eguallogic. Ours was a hybrid range with half SSD and SAS 15 K disks half. Auto-montage cascading has been activated. It was one heck of a SAN. Simple to set up, easy to use and the performance was great. I don't know about the version you have, but I guess it should work for your needs. Again, you will need to do some math and testing to see what works for you.

    SAN switches:

    2 Dell PowerConnect 6224

We used the same switches and had no problems. You can experiment with frames. In my case, my supply of linked clone pools improved jumbo frames.

Good luck with your application. It will be an exciting and fun experience. You should spend some time to know what level of performance, your users will need and what resources you are willing and able to provide. I also noticed that you did not mention on your endpoint devices. What kind of client do you use? A repurposed PC? A thin client any? Take the time to find what works for you and what you and your username. We really liked the Wyse P20. This should not be interpreted as the Gospel, but it's a good start: http://myvirtualcloud.net/?page_id=1076

  • Server and the deployment of Vsphere 5 build question

I intend to deploy vSphere 5 in our environment. I have to store the virtual machine on a HP SAN. The original server build was spec'd to be a Dell R510 with 2 CPUs at 2.93 Ghz Intel Xeon X 5670 and 64 GB of ram. The server has 12 600 GB drives. As I don't no spec this server I think it is an exaggeration in the Department by car since I store my VM on the SAN. My plan is to use two servers ESXi 5 (one being the failover). I plan to virtualize boxes 3-5 and would like to have the option of high availability and vMotion, so told me to buy the Enterprise edition of vSphere 5 or the vSphere acceleration pack 5. What is the best recommendation in terms of hardware to use for these two servers, keeping in mind I'll use an iSCSI SAN HP for storage to the virtual machine. I was also told to install vCenter as a virtual machine on the failover, thoughts on this server?

Finally vSphere gives me the ability to virtualize desktops as well?  Any help would be great.  Thank you in advance.

Yes that's right - the more resources, you can provide to your ESX VMs servers more, you can run - these resources are memory, CPU, disk i/o and bandwidth - in my experience, people resources run first:

    (1) memeory - not having enough host memeory

    (2) disk i/o - plans only not a bandwidth sufficient disk - for example by using only a single HBA or place disk intensive virtual computers on the same LUN.

Keep in mind with both technologies - VMware DRS will ensure the appropriate resources VMs and VMware HA will ensure that sufficient resources is available for failover - so there is no need to keep one of your hosts slowed down - it can be used for the production to ensure the proper functioning of the you VMs

And in my experience, I was able to place 40-50 virtual machines on a host with 128 MB without any preformance issues
