Mirror of the 'together' PC and I restore

I have a task to mirror PC running Windows 7. I mean not only the system files or data but the PC 'everything '. We need to not do that only once after we set up PC, all installed applications and etc.

We assume that disaster as a "blue screen" or any other type of accident that we can't fix, that we should be able simply to open 'image' they our PC in the State, it was reflected.

My questions:

1. can I use "Create a system image" option 'Control Panel' or it won't reflect anything? In the case of the 'native' feature will not work what tool you suggest using? Maybe Acronis or etc.. ?

2. I intend to keep this 'mirror' somewhere on the external drive. In case my PC will be 'completely' crashed or etc... How can I restore from backup? I use usb or etc to start to open the mirror?

Thank you

  • Until I found this thread, I lost 16 months in the Inbox during compacting emails, I went to the trash can and hit restore all, but I can't find them

As I close outlook wxpress yesterday, I got the prompt for compaction. It's been awhile, so I let it start and stop later the computer without checking anything. Today, when I went to check my messages, everthting from 2012 until yesterday was gone. I went in the trash and saw that he was responsible. I have selected to restore a prompt came and I hit restore all. I return wwent into my Inbox and found nothing changed. I searched the web and found this thread and read something about 'with OE not open' and stuff on .bak and .dbx, and fear that I might have screwed up. Where can I find these messages?

You need more than a single click to restore. Here's my answer "keeps" together with the instructions. The party concerned is in blue, but please read all this.

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Recovery methods:

If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Note: If you have new messages in the folder you are go restore, move them to a folder first created user, or they will be lost. They can be moved once the old posts have been restored.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently.

  • Replaced the bad motherboard and cannot restore from recovery disks

I replaced a card Pegatron M2N78 - mother in a Pavilion p6130y PC and I tried to restore to the recovery disks, but he says that the restore disks will not work on this system.  Really, I care is in accordance with the operating system (Vista), I don't want to pay for what I have already.  Research I've done shows that the old motherboard was known to be defective.  During the troubleshooting process, the recovery process was started, but then is broken when the card mother crapped out and didn't not recognize SATA devices.  When trying to start, he knew and then wouldn't recognize them, usually about 75/25% respectively.  Because of this, I can't just start it on the HARD drive and update the existing drivers and update the Vista license.  I have more money to buy only 7.

How can I get the installed operating system or perform a full recovery on this system?

    Hello:

The recovery disks only works on exact material they were made for.

Because you have installed a different motherboard, at microsoft a new motherboard = a new PC.

OEM licenses are licenses that computers come with HP (and any other manufacturer).

This means that they are good only for that specific PC and cannot be transferred to another PC or motherboard.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/OEM/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/licensing_faq.aspx#fBid=38vuxXQoPQY

    Q. a PC with an operating system of Windows OEM may have its motherboard updated and keep the same license? What happens if it was replaced because it was defective?
  • How to remove the initial synchronization and use restore backup

    dear friend

    Hello

I have a question about replication of vsphere

I limit my bandwidth of the network with my virtual disk machine (vm1) is so big (1 TB) I want to know if I can do the first step to get a copy or a backup of my vm and restore on my second host then to do replication on machine (vm1) when starting replication can he understand most of the data are the second host and not do the full synchronization or initial synchronization just make changes

my means is: I want to remove the step of the initial sync and sync just to change data

    Best regards

what you ask is quite possible.

Replication of Virtual Machines using seeds of replication

To minimize the network traffic generated by transfer of data during the initial full synchronization, replication vSphere allows you to copy virtual disk files or use the files that already exist in the target data store, and highlight those as seeds of replication when configuring a replication.

vSphere replication compares the differences on the source and target site and replicates only the changed blocks.

When, during the configuration of the replication, you select a target for the virtual machine data store,
vSphere replication seeks a disk with the same file name in the target data store. If a file with the same name exists, vSphere replication invite with a warning you and offers you the possibility to use the disk file existing as a seed for replication. If you accept the option, after that the virtual machine fully configured and enabled, vSphere replication replication compares the differences and replicates only the changed blocks. If you do not agree to the command prompt, you must change the location for your replication target.

NOTE If you plan to copy the files from the source to the target, the virtual machine data store source must be powered down before you download vmdk files which will be the seeds for replication.

    Ref: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-replication-60/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-replication-60-admin.pdf

As the note says: power off the VM source and download VMDK who you plan to reproduce, to take them to the site data store target. When you set replication vSphere for your virtual machines, Wizard will ask you how you want to do, as if you have original seeds on the target site

  • Make the VM model and data restore

    Hello

I had a question about something I need to make sure before I go forward with seting of the regime. I have VM and there 2 VirtualDisks: Virtualdisk_1 (20 GB) and Virtualdisk_2(400GB). Virtualdisk_1 is for the simple and complete system configured (/, / boot, / dev, / var, / usr... etc) and Virtualdisk_2 is for user data. So I want to do a partition/home on Virtualdisk_2. In any case, I have olso planning copy ready, fully configured VM as my VM model is the case, I have everything set up again very quickly. The problem is that I do not keep 420GB (2 times virtualdisks) as my model. I like to keep one model 20 GB (save only Virtualdisk_1). Is it possible to recover a VM model, if I delete Virtualdisk_2 with / home partition and then somehow create new Virtualdisk_2 and set/home partition there? Or maybe I need to keep all the files in virtualdiskcs if previously set up/home partition on one of them. If the second option is the only one that I should consider, I probably will use virtualdisk_2 as data disc and use symbolic link to/home are on Virtualdisk_1 but I want to know what option I have.

    Thanks in advance

If I understand you correctly - Yes you can have the model of your machine which contains only disc 1 and deploy the model form, and then add a brand new disk2 - and then restore the data to the user for this disk2

  • Need help with the disks 'unreadable' configuring software raid after the death of the startup disk and system restored.

I'm looking for some advice on how to restore a windows xp installation software raid 5 that was running on my XP system. I had a problem when the startup disk has failed, but I was able to backup the system before it can. I replaced the drive and restored the system and everything came, but I was not smart to do this and accidently left the readers connected when restoring raid. I don't know if windows has done something when I tried to install XP on the new drive, or maybe something else has happened when I restored the system from the backup, but my raid drives can not be used. There was a moment in the restaurant business I saw a message on the MBR, but I thought that was just for the drive being restored. I didn't have a single player who held any information on the other disks in the system, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

When the system boots the windows logo screen takes 10-20 minutes before you get on the desktop. Windows Disk Manager takes 20-30 minutes to fill the list of drives and status on the disks three raid is 'dynamic' and 'unreadable' is not reassuring. I suspect it's a problem MBR or partition table that must be corrected before trying to reactive the raid, but this is just speculation.

The raid drives are on a promise ide/scsi disk and make it appear to start correctly with names and sizes. After that I get nothing. I do not have another scsi controller (or), but I thought I'd try active @ partition recovery to see if she can find information on the disks.

I hope someone has some experience with recovery like this, because this is a first for me. I thought I was pretty sure running a raid-5, but wouldn't you know, the tech gods have found a way to crush my plans...

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Since the installation of 4.0.1 I can't do a right-click on the icon in my taskbar and have Firefox give me the option "close and save" tabs. Only let's me know, I'm about to close several tabs. How to make 'save & close' return?

Before installing 4.0.1 I could right click on the Firefox icon in the task bar of my computer and press on the window. He would then give me the option to "save the tabs and exit" or "close all tabs".
Now he comes and tells me I'm going to close several tabs.

It was convenient to be able to close Firefox and open it with all the tabs in place. There is nothing more annoying than to have several tabs lost because your computer has is an update of the day overnight and restarted. It is also useful when you want to run a tun - up or cleaner who asked that closing your browser for best results.

How to make 'save and exit' return?

    Thank you

Firefox stores now always the old session, and you can access it by going to the history menu and selecting "restore previous Session."

If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
    2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    3. Find browser.tabs.warnOnClosepreference, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
    4. Repeat this for 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, the browser.warnOnRestart and the browser.showQuitWarning

If you always open the last set of tabs, another approach is the following:

    1. Click on the orange button Firefox, then select options to open the options window
    2. Go to the general Panel
    3. Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.

I didn't read entirely, but thought that he wanted to reopen iPhoto in System Preferences, since I had the app open on its own. I clicked 'OK', which seems to be the point of civilization to collapse, as it appears that I lost all the photos stored in my iPhoto library! What I did and how can I fix? Everyone?

Hold down the option key while launching iPhoto and using more select Library window select the correct iPhoto library

  • Currently I have the two ("FreeCell" and "Spider") to 99% of victories and want to keep the TWO scores is going when I go from Vista to Windows 7.

    Original title: spider solitaire

OK, this may sound stupid, but I play a lot of solitaire in the form of "FreeCell" and "Spider". (thousands of games scored, both were copied from XP to Vista)

Currently, so 99% of wins, and here to keep the TWO scores will when I go from Vista to Windows 7.

Is it possible to transfer the scores as well as two games?

I moved/copied two games on a secondary hard drive (the two files of game of the C; \program files\microsoft games\ freecell) (& spider solitaire) including hidden files.

I'm just worried, scores can be kept elsewhere in another folder & I'll lose them... two .mui is copied to the new folder as well as the rest of the files (in the case of assistance)

Someone tell me if the scores will transfer more once I have switch to Win7? Or do I have to look elsewhere?

    Thank you.

You run Easy Transfer on the Vista installation, and then restore from Windows 7.

Easy transfer should should be on the files that contain the stats but I don't know if they will be compatible. Since they resumed their XP to Vista, I do not see why they not well with Windows 7.

Regarding Windows Mail, what I understand, it can be done, but it is not taken in charge and there may be unforeseen problems accordingly.

    Hello

We have windows server 8R2 (hostname APWINDOWS8R2519). The server has many applications (Ms office, MCAFEE, Ms Sql Server, Oracle etc.) that are installed in the drive D, drive E and F by car.

We intend to make the recovery test for this server on the TEST computer.

We have a same Measurements (including ip address, host name, memory) as production of the machine machine.

My question is when to apply the System State? If we must first restore all applications of the D, E and F drive on the machine then start applying the system on the machine state

    or

First apply the System State, and then restore all application folders in the drive D, E and F.

    Which is the correct method.

    Thank you.

Hi, am new to the forum so forgive me if I am committed any misstep

We have two servers HP DL585 (amd opteron) with Direct-attached storage bays (attached via a scsi cable), we want to create an environment from virtual machines using ESX 3.5 (this is whats available us - packed) we have also all vmware tools put at our disposal, but no other budget to spend on of NAS\SAN

Is there a way to create a mirror between the two machines (and tables so to speak) for failover is possible if we're going down or something similar - I think that HP storageworks storage mirroring for this, but nothing to VMware build to do the job?

We will install the version of ESX on the disks (mirrored) hard local and the slices VM on the array (raid 5)

You can check with HP. It may be possible to use the MSA70 in any of these two DL585. You may need a few extra bits of a license, but?

    Hello

I suggest buying a USB SATA docking station and backup all needed files on the external hard drive through the work laptop...

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/cnm-hard-drive-docking-station-for-2-5-3-5-sata-internal-hard-drives-01992148-pdt.html?srcid=867&xtor=AL-50&istCompanyId=9a35962d-802d-4e67-9721-0a3328ca1f02&istItemId=mrpwxxx&istBid=t

All you have to do is remove the hard drive work, adapt it to the docking station and connect the station to the laptop. It will work as a drive external hard usb.

When you have finished the backup, create an image backup disc system on the work laptop and use it to restore the other laptop...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?
