• How can I keep my messages or folder on my local hard drive and not be an IMAP folder as local folder is

  I was a little confused on the way Thunderbird handles the local folder. My local folder is not strictly local, but IMAP as my account records. I would like to be able to unload some of my old files on my hard drive and have them always accessible via Thunderbird. The question becomes greater now that I use a lot of server space, and since this is a business account that I would rather not remove them. I want to archive them. I tried archive but it is just another IMAP folder and so is my local files. Initially, I found having the local convenient IMAP folders because I could file emails from multiple email addresses into common folders and easily get to them via my PC or my laptop because they are IMAP.
  All I want to do now is to archive some of my old emails, so they are no longer on the server. How can I do to make it. I thought it should be an easy thing but now after having spent a few hours looking for a solution and finding I'm frustrated. Everything I've read suggests that the local folder should be stored on my hard don't drive not the server, but this isn't my experience.
  Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I use Thunderbird 24.3)

  In fact, even if I go on once again, I'm more invested in what happens with IMAP and used space.
  It is obvious, from some recent exchanges here records them are "local."

  Then check your use of space on the server, after that Thunderbird and the server took a while to 'chat '.

  My guess as to what is happening, is that the IMAP account is not erasing, so deleted mail is there, stay hidden because it is removed but continues to occupy the space.

  I have an IDS/IPS 4215 interface fastethernet 1/0, plugged into a switch, which is part of a demilitarized zone. The same switch that is binding to the interface of the dmz of a PIX 515. I activated some signatures for the trial, including the 2004 ICMP echo request and I am alerted to my PIX ID running events, but not the 4215' detect, which brings me to think about my physical configuration is incorrect. Maybe the switch? I want to do some tests with promiscious mode, IDS, right now, not online. What wiring look like this?

  Try to activate/configure SPAN port (the monitor session) on the switch. The port where the ID was connected was not able to 'see' other traffic through the switch. DURATION/port mirroring is common if you use promiscious instead of inline. But if you use the hub, you can just login and start to see traffic as hub behave differently from the switch.

  I guess your DMZ switch 1 a VLan.Configure your switch port connecting the ID as the port of destination, while other ports as source port.

• Multiple e-mail in Windows 7 Windows Live Mail accounts

  I'm trying to migrate my emails from my old XP PC to a new Windows 7 PC.

  I use Outlook Express on the old PC and use multiple accounts e-mail on it.

  When I import mail to WLM on the new PC, I don't know how to keep a common inbox for all accounts.  WLM seems to insist on the creation of a set of folders box of reception/drafts/feel Items / deleted for each account.  How to merge these into common folders for all accounts to make it work the same way as Outlook Express?

• Why Windows Mail creates mirror mail folders in Inbox?

  Windows Mail keeps creating mail folders in the Inbox with the same names as existing files from the Inbox. When I do drag messages in the Inbox folders, messages will again be saved in files with the same name in the Inbox. When I transfer these messages in folders unwanted in the correct on Inbox folders, I get error Message can not be found when the selection of the recognized object - until I close and then reopen WM.. Then I get two copies of each new message in the correct folders, which opens successfully, the second can not find the above message. I remove the empty and offensive messages new folders in the inbox every time. This "bug" is more a nuisance than a problem I can fix things manually, but the "bug" repeats the problem for new messages when I forward these messages to the existing folders outside of the Inbox. Why this is happening and how to fix it?

  I suggest in WinMail you create temporary files (tempJob and TempBus).  Then, in Windows Mail move all the folders 'Job' (but many are) messages in the folder TempJob and then do the same for messages of the 'Business' files in the TempJob folder.  Then in WinMail delete all work and all cases except the temp ones.  Then close WinMail, and then run the compact functions and repair of WMUtil (detection of malware in scxout.dll was a false positive, but you don't need this dll for this).  Then reopen WinMail and see if things work very well.  If so, you can rename the temporary folders to work and business and then see if the problem is resolved.

  This solution worked, at least as much as I tested it.

  One caveat I noticed concerns rename files back to employment and business to WinMail. Mail moved to employment or a business in WinMail is still saved in TempJob and TempBusiness in WinExplorer (while in employment and Affairs to WinMail). This occurs even if you rename TempJob work and TempBusiness of business in WinExplorer. WinMail will simply recreate TempJob and TempBusiness and ignore the files that you renamed employment and business in WinExplorer.

  VMware Fusion 6 allows records following host to set as folders in the opposite direction.

  Mirrored folders is a bit more a Shell Folders and Folders Shell user redirect in that, for example, change the default value of my videos in the Windows registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER folders and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders %USERPROFILE%\Videos to: \\vmware-host\\Shared Folders\\Movies

  So, if you want to do it under VMware Fusion 3.x, then go to two locations in the Windows registry and backup (file > export...) the keys then change the values for my videos on two sites in \\vmware-host\\Shared Folders\\Movies , then disconnection/connection.

  Note that if you choose manually, edit the Windows registry remember it requires to install VMware Tools in order to use the setting as indicated herein.  Also note that sometimes some installs / software removal have problems when there are redirects apply to Folders Shell and Shell folders user and it will reset to the default values for these actions to be carried out.  This has noting to do with VMware itself is a Windows Installer issue and happen on a physical Machine in the same circumstances with redirects.

• Need help with mirrored folders

  I have a MacPro OS X 10.5.8 hosting VMware Fusion 2.0.7 with XP sp2.

  After reading everything I can find on the sharing and the mirroring of files, I'm stumped and cannot do the job of mirroring, if I understand it's supposed to.  In the preface, it is my desire that mirrored folders appear in the XP C; ------Directory.  I see all the shared folders in a Z; ------Directory, but it doesn't help me at this location with Outlook Express that will not store data files in a different directory as C:\.  Since I synchronize those files via the Mac with another machine (using ChronoSync on Mac), I need the virtual machine to share these Mac files and mirrors in the C:\ directory.

  I have tried everything that I learned from community discussions such as remove VMware tools, then reinstall them (Version 7.9.8 Build 246742). I tried antics with the registry and the .vmx files and have been forced to reload the .vmwarevm file from backup to get a fresh start.  I created a new administrator account on the XP and deleted the one to get a user own directory tree.  There is none of the nested folders.  The unit is activated.

  Here are the relevant passages of the .vmx

  I use VMware fusion 3 with Windows 7. My mac has about 15 GB of music and photos. I would like to reflect these files in win 7, but I have a few questions. I need to make room for the concert 15 music and photos in my virtual machine or the mirror function allow me to accesss them without copying them to the virtual machine.   All the measures taken on the (s) files / folders within the Virtual Machine located in a folder mirroring are actually going on on the host file system.  So if I create a document on the Mac and save it in the Documents folder in my folder Home and then I start the Virtual Machine that I activated on mirrored set folders and go to My Documents in Windows I can open the document and edit it.  There is a file that is accessible from these two operating systems and can be worked two bones that should only by direct access by one at a time.

  A bet caveat in that under normal circumstances, while in windows and deleting a file in My Documents, it would go in the trash, on the other hand if this file is located in a folder mirroring, it is removed immediately and so keep that in mind when you use this feature.

  What version of Fusion are you using?  The latest news at the moment is 2.0.2 (147997) and you should move on to that.

• CESExtensionmanager file missing from the common files folders

  I guess the issue I'm having is due to the extension manager for cs6 this is contradictory to install correctly. Yet, I want this just to be sure.  I just downloaded applications 64-bit Adobe cc "comprehensive", I upgraded from cs6 and I tried to do some extensions for my Photoshop using extension builder 3. The problem is that I can not because the cepservice folder is missing on my computer.  Now, when I uninstalled after previous cs6, I noticed that the old folder for cs6 is still there and maybe it's the origin of the conflict.

  Can anyone help?

  Nevermind, I found that in 2014 cc, it was moved to the CEP folder instead. Thanks for the reply.

• iCloud Desktop Drive and Documents folders

  Just updated to Sierra and thought, it would be a nice feature to be able to back up desktop and Documents folders to iCloud. However, this isn't really what he does... Instead it moves to your desktop and Documents folders to iCloud Drive. Using your desktop and Documents folders disappear favorites. Likely, it erases the hard disk space, but this isn't what I wanted. I wanted to work on my files on my hard drive and for these to be synchronized / mirror in iCloud. As I don't do real work on the files in these folders on any other device than my MacBook Pro, having these files available by other devices was not important to me.

  Now my questions are:

  (1) Will Time still Machine back up these two folders which are now in the cloud?

  (2) if I want to recover these files on my hard drive (my computer > users > user My > Documents/Desktop), what is the best way to proceed?

  (3) is there a clever way to use iCloud in the way I intended?

  The first thing we want to make sure is that all your data is safe. You can perform a backup using Time Machine and an external hard drive. Some people recommend an external hard drive twice the size of your internal hard drive, because finally he fills with the backups, but as long as you have a car large enough to store all the data currently on your Mac that will suffice. To answer your first question, now that these files and folders are in iCloud drive, those who will be saved differently and separate Time machine. Yes, you can make backups of iOS and save them in iCloud, but to perform a live backup of all your files and folders, they must be located on the internal hard drive or external hard drive connected to your Mac, and that external hard drive is not excluded from backups in the preferences of Time Machine.

  Right-click on the account in the folders pane, and then select settings > settings to break > Advanced button. Select use the other Inbox and select local folders.

  SDB tells Thunderbird folder contains sub folder. It contains in fact as well.
  MSF files are index in the mail folder. It also stores the Tags, but it's main purpose is as an index.
  Files without extensions are the real mail.

  Before you attempt a restore from a backup that will very likely lose something. Check that your anti-virus does not have the file in quarantine is. Pretty common that they scan with new definitions and find something for 6 months which is not a risk.

  Regarding your mozbackup. To facilitate the work with it, change the ZIP file extension. then you can use it as any other Zip file. (windows will be opened like a folder in Explorer) The file you are looking for will be in exactly the same relative position in the Zip that mozbackup maintains the structure of the profile folder.

            * One of the accounts is gmail. In Account Setting tool, there is an option for synchronization. If there is no easier way, I can have mail for other account copied to gmail, and just syncronize gmail mail. For this, how will I copy my present folder structure to gmail.   The first awkwardness that I see is that there is no clear format in which to store the messages remotely such that you can work with them in an email client. It may be possible to set the option "Local Directory" of the account in Thunderbird to point to a remote folder (DropBox comes to mind) but I've never tried, and I'd be nervous about what happens if the connection cannot be established, or if you happened to access it simultaneously from two different locations. The other concern is that mail stores are fast becoming big, and you would be forever download and download large files (several gigabytes). Thunderbird stores what looks like a folder that contains many messages separated as one big file, so there is no simple possibility of incremental changes to load up/down.

  The idea of local folders in Thunderbird is to detach messages from servers, therefore they do not follow what is happening on the servers. I say this to emphasize the distinction between files stored locally and permanently ("Local Folders"), against copies cached files online ("synchronized"). It is not sure to consider your folders synchronized as permanent.

  So folders synchronized on an IMAP server are "mirrored" in Thunderbird you do not have a local (although temporary and transitional) copy of messages. This is done primarily to avoid download repeatedly the messages if you re-read, and it makes the fastest search more effective. But these "synchronized" track of message that are deployed on the server, and so if they are deleted from anywhere, all devices that are synchronized at one point also see messages deleted endangered. (Except if you have saved a local copy on the local folders account).

  I use a gmail account quite as much as you described; Copy or move messages to this account, so that they are visible in my phone, my tablet, my own laptop and my computer works. It's free, and it is "in the cloud"; the only reservation I have is her private life. There are other suppliers (e.g. 1 & 1/gmx) who do not seem to have the fetish of collecting data that google thrives.

  It's pretty simple to create filters in Thunderbird to automatically copy messages to your account "cloud." even better is to implement the translation of rules on the servers of other accounts, to ensure that your messages are automatically sent and waiting for you when you log in next time, already in the cloud account.
