    Windows tells me to run the install from the original CD, and then to enter the 'r' to repair the problem. I never get: Windows reboots repeatedly, or it crashes just without giving me the chance to enter the 'r '.  A Windows XP Pro with SP3 iso file did not help; not more than another copy of a Windows XP Pro with SP2 CD. What should I do now? How can I systematically enter the Windows installation, and how can I do a repair installation?

    also please note that you can not do a repair install on xp sp3 with a cd of xp sp2.

    It must be a cd with sp3 slipstreamed CD.

    =====

    If you can get into your bios default and the cd to start everything first and try again, what happens this time?

    In addition, clean the cd by wiping gently from the Center to the edge, NOT in a circle, with a soft cloth wet litely.

    your cd can have a streak that gives you the error.

    It can also be your player, you have a tower with two drives? If so pass out them and see if the problem occurs.

  • Missing file of sludge activated when installing XP

    Recently, I reformatted the hard drive on my computer and tried to reinstall Windows XP. I get half way through installation and getting a message says that the asms file is missing and gives me the possibility to locate the file on the computer. How can I solve this problem?

    If you do a Google search on your error message, you will find a few good ideas that have several happy endings (this seems to be a relatively common problem).  There is even a Microsoft KB article on this subject, but depends on several unknown factors, it may not work for you:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB; EN-US; Q311755

    There are other ideas on the Internet that appear to be effective when the article MS does not work.

    It's a shame that we know absolutely nothing about your system, but that's the way it goes around here.

    If we knew more about your system and what you have, you would probably be done now!

  • switch from vista to xp - Int failed: E:\i386\asms.

    I'm trying to switch back to Windows XP, Vista. I had to send my laptop in for repair and they loaded Vista on it because that's what was on this subject during the purchase. I bought this from a company that had upgraded to XP, which I like much better. I got an error stating - Int failed: E:\i386\asms.   He also tells me that I'm missing some files - xmlp-*-xdr. Don't know what that means. As I load the CD for XP he showed some files would not be responsible and gave me the the ability to jump, which I did because it would'nt I would try again. They finished with xmp. Anyone got the answers or help for me? I cannot get my laptop to start because of this and don't know what to do?

  • RMAN, restoration of ASM no - asm environment!

    Dear friends,

    WE are running Oracle 11 GR 2 CARS as our PRODUCTION server. also, we have a single instance, DATAGUARD, where production data are replicated.

    On the end DATAGUARD, we take a weekly full backup RMAN. My db_name is 'isldb '.

    Now I want to restore the backup, RMAN COMPLETE the DATAGUARD server to a new server NO - ASM using file system normal... For this reason, I have to follow the procedure below:

    (1) take RMAN full backup of DATAGUARD END as a stage to mount and store it on ' / rmanback' file.  I use the below taken backup script:

    Run {}

    allocate channels d1 device type disk format ' / rmanback/isl/$TODAY/df_%U_%T';

    allocate channel device type d2 disc format ' / rmanback/isl/$TODAY/df_%U_%T';

    backup database effective additional 0 CHECK the LOGIC AS BACKUPSET COMPRESS;

    backup format ' / rmanback/isl/$TODAY/controlfile.ctlbk' (current controlfile);

    backup format ' / rmanback/isl/$TODAY/spfile.spbak' (spfile);

    ARCHIVELOG backup all;

    output channel d1;

    output channel d2;

    }

    (2) the transfer of the rman backup complete on a remote server on the same ' / rmanback' file.

    (3) in the new server, I take the scene nomount database using a spfile (spfile has a single entry: 'DB_NAME = isldb')

    (4) then I restore the controlfile successfully:

    [oracle@PRIM ~] target rman $ /.

    No one can touch «_allow_resetlogs_corruption» action  You are now on your own.

  • RMAN duplicate for standby the active database and the missing data files

    We have a car of 2 node ASM 11 GR 2 and 11.1 of database and a standby with ASM also. Our database is relatively low (300 GB)

    and in one recent event the day before was such a departure from the primary that we decided to "repopulate" the data using duplicate RMAN.

    I deleted the data files of the previous day and followed the Oracle documentation to duplicate a database. In the waiting

    I created a static listener and a pfile containing only the essential information (db_unique_name). I started the day before with nomount using the 'empty' pfile.

    I run RMAN, connected to the target and ancillary catalogues and run this command:

    run {
    allocate channel prmy1 type disk;
    allocate channel prmy2 type disk;
    allocate channel prmy3 type disk;
    allocate channel prmy4 type disk;
    allocate channel prmy5 type disk;
    allocate auxiliary channel stby1 type disk;
    duplicate target database for standby from active database nofilenamecheck;
    }

    RMAN duplication completed without errors, so I started the rescue database and got

    an error saying that datafile XXX is missing. I checked XXX datafile at the primary level

    and it is in a DISCONNECTED state. In the standby database the same data file is in the online state.

    So I think the problem is that during the duplication, RMAN (as documentation States) does not work

    Copy the files of data in offline mode, but the standby control file seem to think that these data files

    are online and should be present.

    Can someone please help me solve this problem? From my understanding, I could just copy the missing persons

    data files (there are many however) and in the standby go offline, but I don't think it's

    the right solution, edit this file for control of the standby? I would add another option

    in the RMAN script?

    Take the data file in offline mode on the site of the previous day.

    I don't think that two COPIES try to manage separately offline files.

  • Missing files in the command "copy list" once restored controlfile

    Hello

    Perform the restore/recovery exercise (11 GR 2 on ASM), I did the following:

    1 / the DB running, "copy list" in RMAN (to retrieve a list of my backups).

    2 / done one the judgment then went to AMSCMD and deleted all the files in data/ctlfile/spfile manually

    (wanted to test a complete restoration with nothing but archives and backups),.

    3 / managed to restore my spfile with ' restore spfile to ' + DATA...» »,

    4 / then could "startup mount" my DB and restore controlfile with

    «Restore controlfile from «+ FRA/DBNAME/BACKUPSET/2014_01_29/ncnnn...»» » ; »

    5 / then I "copy list" once again

    and here, I saw 3 files were missing (so I started to meet a lot of problems

    so we can still restore/recovery...)

    Someone has already encountered this problem before?

    Thank you very much in advance...

    SEB

    Hello

    When you have restored a controlfile from a backup, it will list only copies or backup that have been registered with this controlfeil, if you want to catalog backups to restore controlfile, you can use the catalog command.

  • ASM shutdown problem

    Hi experts,

    suddenly I've faced shutdown ASM on a 2 RAC node problems. When trying to reboot the second node of the ora.asm of resources cannot be stopped.

    The closure of the ASM runs out after 10 minutes. There is an interesting line in the ohasd.log saying that the DSO cannot be stopped because of an error: 3.

    Anyone know what this means? I googled hours and hours without success, even in MOS I have not found any additional information.

    Help is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you very much

    PS My environment:

    -2 node RAC OEL 6.3

    -11.2.0.4 oracle Enterprise Edition

    Hi gentlemen,

    I think I solved my problem with the help of google omniscient. :-)

    So far, there seems to be a missing entry in the local/etc/hosts (on the second node) to the second node.

    So I added the line

    192.168.0.112 rac2.localdomain rac2

    and this morning, everything was fine.

    Thank you very much for your advice!

  • How to take database backup ASM/Instance?

    Hello

    I'm new with ASM. We take ASM/instance of database backup.

    can we have the idea to backup ASM?

    1. what components should be saved as database/Instance ASM / ASM all files?

    Please do the needful.

    Thank you
    Nitin

    Hello Nitin,

    First of all, you must understand that the RDBMS & ASM instance is different but yes, both are running on the same computer.

    ASM includes essentially two things: ASM instance (1) and the storage of the DSO (2).

    (1) ASM instance
    ------------------------

    That's just an instance when we do not backup but Yes if you want to keep the ASM instance configuration file then just follow these steps:

    [grid@host01 ~] $. oraenv
    ORACLE_SID = [+ ASM1]? + ASM1
    The basic Oracle for ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/11.2.0/grid is/u01/app/grid

    SQL > create pfile='/home/grid/init+ASM1.ora' of spfile;

    Created file.

    (2) ASM STORAGE
    -------------------------

    -Storage ASM includes essentially ASM starts, namely new set of disks.

    -Whenever we do not create ASM diskgroup diskgroup contains still three things:

    (a) disc ASM
    (b) models and metadata
    (c) the ASM files (essentially datafile or all database files)

    -We take backup of two things on three things in ASM diskgroup:

    (1) ASM files - with RMAN because these are files of database.
    (2) ASM diskgroup models & metadata - with the MD_BACKUP of ASMCMD command.

    Now, MD_BACKUP will create a backup as your specified location file and this file will includes all models and metadata of the diskgroup. Benefits of taking diskgroup metadata are, if we lost the diskgroup, so we do not worry some details configuration command MD_RESTORE use to recreate the diskgroup with the same configuration. But remember that it does not restore the data file or any other file that was there on the diskgroup going to use RMAN to restore the missing files.

    See the example:

    ASMCMD > lsdg

    To re-create the diskgroup dropped with the same restoration of the configuration of the diskgroup even with the aid of diskgroup as:

  • ASM Diskgroup existing disks

    Hello
    Oracle RDBMS version 11.2.0.3.0
    OS: OEL 6.3
    Stand-alone server of the grid Infrastructure.
    MY question: I want to connect existing disks to ASM instance. What commands to create new disks existing diskgroup using without erasing the data on disks?

    Hello
    My recommendation is to create the ASM using ASCMA instance.

    Because the step below is valid only up to 11.1 or less, for 11.2 is missing a few extra steps.

    Now the steps for manual creation of DSO;

    1. create the file password for manually creating an ASM instance.
    orapwd file = $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapw + ASM Password123 = 5 entries = password

    In this way the user ASMSNMP will not be created and you must manually assigns a role SYSASM to the SYS user. ASMCA do automatically.

    2. create the needed directories:

    mkdir Pei $ORACLE_BASE/admin / + ASM
    CD $ORACLE_BASE/admin / + ASM
    mkdir bdump
    mkdir udump
    mkdir cdump
    mkdir pfile

    These directories are obsolete on 11.2, now Oracle use ADR to store logs.

    3. create the file init + ASM.ora under the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs:

    asm_diskgroups = 'DATA', 'FRA '.
    asm_diskstring = "/ dev/oracleasm/discs / *'"
    background_dump_dest ='/ u01/app/admin / + ASM/bdump "
    core_dump_dest ='/ u01/app/admin / + ASM/cdump '
    instance_type = "asm".
    LARGE_POOL_SIZE = 12 M
    user_dump_dest ='/ u01/app/admin / + ASM/udump '

    ASMCA value target memory at least 272 M

    4 - export ORACLE_SID = + ASM
    Instance ASM 5-start in editing mode:

    sqlplus / as sysasm
    Create spfile from pfile;
    Startup mount
    Show disc setting

    6 - Mount starts;

    change fra diskgroup Steed;
    change the data diskgroup medium;

    Missing a few steps here.

    ASMCA will activate/configure "ora.asm" (by adding the SPFILE and some PARAMETERS on OLR) resources and all dependent resources and create DISKGROUP resources.
    If you do not have config, ASM will be not started/stoped/restarted automatically.

    Once again... Is recommended to create an ASM Instance using ASMCA and a SMALL Lun (1 GB) to store only the ASM SPFILE when creating and then just get the other DISKGROUP.

    When you activate your database or add the DISKGROUP resources on Oracle Restart, and ASM must exist to work properly

  • RMAN Active cloning succeeded, but spfile turned out to be missing

    Environment:

    OS Version: HP - UX B.11.31 U ia64

    Oracle DB Version: 11.2.0.3.0
    Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64 bit Production

    The files of the databases on: + managed ASM starts

    RMAN Active cloning command below is used to clone the database from one 'A' host to another host 'B '.
     duplicate target database to testDB from active database nofilenamecheck ;
    Cloning completed successfully. But when I checked on the existence of spfile the missing found spfile.
    SQL> show parameter spfile

    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    spfile                               string      /app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db/dbs/spfiletestDB.ora
    What could be the cause of the missing spfile?

    I have been informed below as a workaround.

    1. create the spfile and pfile memory and bounce the db for this problem.
    2 RMAN Active clone script specified with the clause pfile.
    For example.
     duplicate target database to testDB  from active database file=/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db/dbs/inittestDB.ora;
    Would appreciate the counsel on this.

    Hello;

    What could be the cause of the missing spfile?

    This:

    duplicate target database to testDB from active database nofilenamecheck

    Instead:

    duplicate target database to testDB from active database spfile nofilenamecheck

    See:
