  Recently I have upgraded RAM of 4 GB (2 + 2) 6 GB (2 + 4). They are of the same manufacturer, the two 800 MHz I checked the new memory with the Dell diagnostics - it's ok. After upgrade, I have a serious graphics - parts of my get pixelated screen problems. It is irregularly, with different applications ran - see the screenshot.

  I have one of my games and Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic) needs me to set specific options for OpenGL.   If it s not active, then from a good reason. The manufacturer doesn't have to trigger specific in a chipset functions, even if the manufacturer of the chipset says it is applied.

  BUT: If there is a powersaving option that switches between graphics cards, then you won´t have influence on that because this will be controlled automatically by the system and the drivers.

  I m using Intel drivers too and I n t have a problem to install.

  If you have tried to install the driver through setup.exe, you should try manual in Device Manager. Right-click on the graphic card > driver update. Use the Advanced installation step and choose the driver directory yourself.

  Before installing the driver, you must remove the older version first, and then restart the laptop.

  Integrated graphics should be good for anything other than full-motion games. Regarding the best machine, computer programming is a general topic. When I wrote a lot of code and has worked on big programs, I liked screens screens high definition because I could see several lines of code in a single column. These factors are not important for other types of work (computer, also). I suggest that you ask someone in the computer science department where you want to go.
