Mobile related clones of Local storage

Hello

My Ministry is currently upgrading to 5 and 5 view vSphere.  We have several clone linked to local storage pools.  I want to spend the pools to another host to upgrade hypervisor of the host, as well as to modernize (possibly) agent of the pool, the hardware and vmware tools.  From what I remember, in order to go to the pool, I would have to recompose the pool on the other hosts/data store, but for some reason, when I did a series of tests, the pool will not move.

Here's what I'm trying to do:

  • I have a pool of clone related with discs persistent (dedicated assignment) to host A.  Host A has warehouses of local data A1 and A2.  The replica is on A1, and the deltas are on A2. The persistent drive is on storing shared, I'll call S1.
  • I want the pool to host B, which has a similar structure.  It has warehouses of local data B1 and B2.  Drives P'd stay S1, the replica & deltas being on B1 and B2, respectively.
  • Host A and B belong to the same cluster. S1 is visilble for both hosts.

For my tests, I did the following:

  • I created a test tank with 1 vm matching the description of the pool above.
  • I connected to the virtual computer and made some changes, so I could confirm that drive-p has been restored after the reconstruction.
  • I created a new snapshot of the VM parent (with minor changes to the system so I could it ID).
  • I connected on the administrator of the view, the pool of test, went to Edit-> settings of Vcenter and B1 and B2 selected data warehouses.  I deselected A1 and A2.
  • I saved the settings and then reconstructed the pool with the new snapshot of the VM parent.

When I did, the operation recompose exploded in vsphere.  A new replica was made, and the former has been removed.  I was able to connect to the virtual computer again.

However, when I checked the settings, the virtual machine always works on host A, with A1 and A2 data warehouses.  I checked the settings in the view admin console and confirmed that B1 and B2 have been selected for the pool.  ! And A2 were not.

I tried again with a different VM, not just a different look.  I got the same results.  The operation recompose arrives, but the pool remains on the host original/data warehouses.

No idea what I am doing wrong?  I looked in the community pages, and that's generally what I have seen as much as the recommended method to move the clones.  A post said to select new data stores in the recompose Wizard, but I do not see this option when I dial my pool.  I guess it is because this post was for an older version of the view.

My environment is:

Guest - ESX4.1

View 5 connection to the server

VCenter 5.0

SMV w / agent of 4.6 and material v7

Thanks in advance for any help.

Recompose to the data store Local of ESX is not recommended and not supported.

But there is an easier way because your persistent drives on the shared storage

Here is the way how to do it.

Call us your original pool as pool 1. Pool-1 Replical will be in the Local 1, delta on the data store 2 local data store and persistentd disks shared datastore 1

Create a new Pool in home 2 from the same structure in host 1 (even the pool size too) call this hen his 2. Create this pool on demand provisioning

Remove the pool 1 archiving his persistent records

go to page persistent drives, go to page edit separated each drive persistent, change the last 'pool' pool-2

now select all persistent disks and click on rebuild

all virtual machines will be recreated in the pool - 2

You can also try, first remove the pool-1 and create a pool in 2 host in the same name "pool-1' and recreate the disks persistent withour edit.,-that, you really have to try." but the above solution works perfectly

Thank you

  • Local storage and multiple ESXi hosts

Hi, I was wondering how vWorkspace manages local storage in an environment with a single server Vcenter and two ESXi, with a local data store each.

If I store a 'master' (I mean the gold statue) vm on the local storage of an ESXi, can replicate vWorkspace this virtual machine to the local storage of the other ESXi as Citrix VIAB?

If not, how can I use both my ESXi servers with local storage and maybe provide some sort of HA?

Am I forced to use a storage shared, if I want to be able to deploy clones related both to my ESXI?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Use vSAN, or no matter what virtual SAN Appliance as an iSCSI SAN storage to prosecute two storage facilities... You can replicate between the two servers and same LUNS are used by vWorkspace.

  • View Load Balancing Hosts with local storage

    Hello

After the use of VMWare for server virtualization, it is time to move to the next step.

We are in the middle of a display driver 5 :-)

At the moment I have 2 host vmware (esxi 5) with storage connected to a San.

My "master VM" is in the SAN and connected to two hosts.

A pool is created and data warehouses them are selected for the pool.

The replicas are created on two local data stores when I set up the pool.

At the time, my drivers 10 users working on a related Clone which is located on the local storage.

The strange thing is that all users are running on a single host.

East on the host with the most free space.

When I remove the data store, the virtual machine is created on the other host.

After adding it, are all the vm on the store with the largest disks again.

How can I configure display to use the two hosts?

This is a normal behavior of View Composer to put desktops on the storage the largest space available. You can change this behavior by adjusting storage approval settings. Take a look at this blogpost:

  • Database update issue with JavaScript and local storage

    Hi all

I come from a PHP background and a newbie with HTML5 and JavaScript, and local storage

Currently I'm building a mobile web application that uses a remote database.

I have a question about the update database.

Currently, I set it up so that when the user logs on successfully - Local Storage fields are loaded from the remote database query using a jQuery.Get. This seems to work well.

When it's time to update the data, I fill the form in local storage, allow the user edit fields, then:

-a form post to send data to the remote php page that updates the database...

Here is where I have a question: How can I make sure the edit went through good - what is better to do it now?

-Can I set up a json response to say whether or not the update was successful

    or

-Query the database once more and recover the fields to compare the edit results

    or

-Another technique to do of course change it went through OK

    - then if successful, I can update the local storage

Q: what is the best way to ensure that the database has been correctly updated (and also not lose time with Access database useless)?

Is there a recommended for this?

In addition, if possible this beginner can use a clear example...

Why not to use jquery get () callback status where if the success is returned then to update local storage?

    best,

  • Discover related Clones gel icons

    Hello world.

I have a bit of a dilemma.  I have a few desktop computers running that linked clones, 4 to be exact. I have recently started to experience something unusual.  Office of linked clone icons freeze at random times.  The icons are there but not doing anything when you click it.  The rest of the Office works very well, and if I use the start menu, I can browse programs and launch what I installed.

If I reboot or simply start explorer.exe everything works again, but of course after a while, I have the same problem.

Any ideas on what could be the cause?  It is to see the version 5.2 and I'm running the clones related to a Nutanix storage device and they were created using the plugin VAAI.

    Thanks for your help!

Totally forgot to update this.  It turns out that the question had to do with hardware obsolete vm.  We have updated to vmx - 09 and everything seems to be ok now.

  • Local storage for ESXi - SD USB or a traditional hard drive

We will replace our ESX host soon with new hardware and I'm on the fence about the use of a player USB SD 4 GB or traditional hard drives in a RAID. Obviously, the reader SD has its advantages, namely its speed and reliability, but is reliable enough to give up using redundant hard drives?

As someone mentioned previously, we spend much of our time concerned with our redundant hard disks, expecting to fail. Several times the failure is related to moving parts in the drive also. SD readers have the pleasure of having no moving parts to wear out or fail. But what good are they?

Sells the dealer that I spoke with them for 3 years and never heard of a failure. His $62 for 4 GB, so it's not a bottom of the line edit. It is designed to be in a HP DL380G7, once again, I doubt that it is a lower end model.

I'm leaning toward the SD drive rather than traditional drives, but I wanted to get feedback from others who may have used this before configuration. I'm looking for the successes and failures (and the reason for the failure).

4 GB is enough for installation (ESXi 4.1) and I have not any more local storage as VM is on the shared storage and the assistance as AppSpeed and esXpress VM program I can also install it on the shared storage (where in our current datacenter these are installed on the local storage). Or should I worry about this size with respect to logging or something else?

    Thanks in advance, please discuss.

I had a fight 100 ESX hosts running by USB - only questions I ever had were with the original green USB keys that HP provided in the first days of ESXi on USB.

I like the approach of USB for several reasons:

    1. no local physical disk required, less moving parts = less material problems

    2. If you have local physical disks, you can use these as the dumping grounds for the ISOs etc.

    3. If rebuilding a server, I can remove the old USB key and press a new - and recover simply by replacing the OLD USB key

    4. I can pre-generate a USB one double key as a method of construction of servers in bulk (not tested on 4.1u1 well)

    5. I've had many many hard drive failures. . USB (except Green HP ones) have never failed on me.

In addition, your syslog problem isn't treally a 0 - practice problem is to get servers to connect to a centralized in any case syslog box (I would even if I used not USB/SD)

Good luck - let us know what you decide.

  • In a local storage folder, I can't view messages beyond a certain date

My most recent e-mail messages in a particular local storage folder cannot be found. I get the message "loading" and nothing happens. I updated for Thunderbird 38.2 this morning and then noticed the problem. It's especially bad, because this block of emails contains most of my banking passwords online.
My operating system is Windows XP Pro Service pack 3

Right-click on the folder and select Properties, then on the button repair.

Note that XP is probably the worst place you can think of to store passwords for banking these days. More out of support most at risk, as you become.

  • I get a request for local storage through Adobe flash which I can't get rid of

Clicking on accept or decline does not a doggone thing. I don't have the problem with Google Chrome, but I really prefer to use Firefox. I had the problem with other sites next to NPR (National Public Radio All Things Considered). It does not interfere with the download, but there really with the NPR player. My world will not end if you do not resolve the problem, but it would be nice if you could. I live in the Philippines, so that might be a factor.

  • iCloud drive Local Storage Management on iOS

I can imagine a circumstance in which an iCloud drive may contain enough files to exceed the capacity of storage available for an iOS device.

    1. does anyone know how iOS handles this situation?

    2. in general, are all the files in the iCloud drive copied down for iOS devices, or is it only meta data to iOS show the structure of the disk allowing iOS to download copies of files on demand?

With Dropbox, you must manually choose which files you want stored locally on your iOS device. I'm guessing that Apple tried to relieve users from having to think about this issue and they designed the iOS to just do the right thing by managing local storage automatically and gracefully.

Only, they are copied to your device when you open then (with some exceptions). If you start running out of room, your device will delete them intelligently...

  • Flash does not work in FF26, it works in Chrome and IE. I reinstalled FF and Flash several times. I can't adjust the setting of local storage for Flash either.

Flash does not work on some web sites. I never had a problem before with flash on FF in the nearly 15 years that I've used FF. Recently it has stopped working for some reason any and on some flash sites does not, NHL.com and site of kid Herotopia being just two of them. I updated FF, Adobe flash, the reinstalled version them repeatedly deleted all the files that have been stored on my laptop; that is, profiles, saved favorite nothing that I could find in user accounts and in the local app, low local and roaming data folders. What is strange, is that I can't set the local storage for flash either. When I visit the Adobe site to view the Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager I can move the scroll bar, but cannot check the: allow third-party flash content to store data on your computer. I can't do it on a Web site where the flash does not work. When I try and it changed on any site that it goes back to zero. Not sure if it is a part of the problem. I got tired of many suggestions on the pages of material here, but nothing works. I even tried this http://forums.adobe.com/message/4566499#4566499#4566499

The other strange thing is that I used to get the "warning: script does not" prompt that displays "a script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script ends. "sometimes when I would buy on Macy's.com. This is the only site that it happened.
I know I have only little technical knowledge, but I have tried to figure this out for a few days and do not know what is happening. The only thing I can think is that I somewhere files corrupted causing this problem. I have just updated to Windows 8.1 tonight in the hope that can help, but nothing helped. I would be very disappointing if I couldn't use FF or must go back using Chrome and FF.
Sorry for the posting long but no solution would be much appreciated.

    Hi jscher2000,.

Yes, I followed essentially the: Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209 you have posted.

And after restarting Firefox, Flash worked. Thanks again for your post I could not find this solution on the Adobe forums until you have posted the link.
Your expertise and your time is much appreciated.

How to move items from one profile to a local storage to free up space under this profile?

    Hi MartySlaught,

    ·         You want to move the files in your user account on a different medium (external hard drive)?

If so, you can do this only for your personal files. You can refer to the following.

    a. make sure that your external USB hard drive or a USB flash drive is connected to your computer.

    b. open the directory on your computer where are the files you want to transfer. Press 'Ctrl' key and click each file you want to transfer.

    c. click on the option "Move selected files" on the left side of the window. Then select the external USB hard disk or USB flash drive. The files will be moved from the computer to the external hard drive.

  • Permission to access local storage problem

Hi guys recently I'm developing an application with the purpose of storing images downloaded from the internet to local storage.
So I did some tests on a 8310. On this particular model he kept asking permission whenever he wanted access to local storage or network. It was slightly boring during normal operation but is impossible to use demand because he asked me for what seemed like every download of the image. On all my tests to date (especially on the 8800 and Perl series) I am able to respond at a time and give permanent security permissions requests access to the network, GPS and local storage.
Is there a way to get the application to make a time permissions configuration?

Application for authorization, the code is

    ApplicationPermissions permRequest = new ApplicationPermissions();
    permRequest.addPermission (ApplicationPermissions. PERMISSION_FILE_API);
    ApplicationPermissionsManager.getInstance () .invokePermissionsRequest (permRequest);

  • PlayBook - local storage on the application upgrade

    Hey guys,.

I was wondering what is happening in the local storage (SQLite or key / value) when the application is upgraded via the BlackBerry store. Should keep his content or wipe?

Is there any ETA on API to access the shared storage devices?

    Thank you

    -Ryan

I have not seen something official, but I have investigated this area extensively and have every reason to think that the local storage will be preserved as the app is not actually uninstalled.  An upgrade should preserve all that content.  I would consider another thing to be a serious bug and really I'm sure that they choose to do it this way.  For all that is worth...
