MOBO battery died, replaced, went sata/raid drive.

The computer has win - xp, 32-bit. It had been updated. At sp3. Asus P5wd2 mobo. The system worked very well. The C - mos battery died then. I replaced it. Now, there is only the C:\ drive and a drive partition L:\. It is therefore more H:\ by car (at home). The drive H:\ was the raid set before the battery is out. I don't know how to get it back. When xp came back upward, it is requested to install (recommended) some readers of the unit, so I did. The drive did not return after the reboot.

I went into the BIOS, go down to 'IDE CONGIGURATION'--> Select "RAID" not "SATA" Press F10, Save and Exit, re - start - found the player.

Don't go in the RAID itself - just the BIOS!

When I load Windows XP Pro (OEM), I hit F6 to install the RAID driver.

    Hi MightyMouse,

As you said, if you can't load the drivers or get the disk to spin there is a hardware conflict / issue. To solve, you can contact the manufacturer or try a BIOS update. If you have any other questions please let us know.

  • Tecra S3 - need SATA / RAID driver for installing Windows XP Home edition

I'm doing a new installation of windows xp on a Toshiba Tecra S3 model PTS30E-0DT03FDU
Who knows where to find the RAID driver to load when you start the installation of xp?

This model no longer appears in the driver download section.

Of course, it is listed by download, but the older models are listed in the ARCHIVES.

Please visit the download page for Toshiba - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp - once again and the slot type of product choose Archive.

For Windows XP Home edition, you will find RAID driver for download.

  • ESXi 5.0 U1 could be installed on a SATA drive, but can't the SATA RAID

    This is the case:
My physical server includes the Intel series E5-2600, Intel C600 (A for SATA) chipsets.
In the VMware ESXi 5.0 Update 1 Release Notes, I find his support for chipsets Intel C600 and E5-2600.

So I want to confirm if ESXi 5.0 U1 could be installed in my machine.
In my test, ESXi 5.0 U1 can be installed with a SATA, but not SATA RAID drive. (Installed by CD)
    What's wrong?
    Waiting for your help.
    Thank you!

Another feature that is missing in ESXi is caching block... So if you buy a hardware RAID card choose one with a battery to use the cache policy writing and write I/O faster.

  • a1140n flag replacing the SATA II HARD drive?

SATA II disks can be used to replace a SATA drive failed in the above desktop machine?

The specifications for the machine indicates SATA, but I'm not sure the new II will work in the system.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes that correct, there is no reason why technical SATA-300 (SATA II) will not work in the system SATA-150. Like most BUSES and protocols, the specifications call for SATA-300 to be backward compatible with SATA-150.

I read this somewhere a bit backwards: the HD is not reach anywhere near the 300 MB/s transfer speed which can be able to SATA-300 interface, test to see the

    up to 35 MB/s - 135 MB/s for non-RAID drives and up to 225 MB/s for readers RAID0 configuration. 150 / 300 MB/s is SATA ports

maximum transfer rate, not the maximum hard disk transfer rate. This means that the port can handle up to this number transmittions,

but this does not mean that the hard drive can achieve this goal.

If the faster hard drives can only max to 135 Mbit/s it makes you wonder why SATA-600 is developed. I would get a HARD drive with the largest affordable cache on this subject.

Thanks for these videos. It may be useful to replace the memory, but I think that the owners of the laptop should not open the case. This may void the warranty.

  • HP Pavilion s5570t desktop computer: single SATA hard drive configured as RAID in BIOS

Our small computer lab has two offices of Pavilion Slimline s5570t that we have recently upgraded to Windows 10. I noticed that in the configuration of the BIOS for the SATA hard drive, it is defined as RAID. I don't know why. The thing that brought this to my attention, is that the software Intel Rapid storage technology constantly shows about 25% CPU use and there high usage of the disk when computers start first which makes them unusable until the software installs.

My question is can I change the setting of the BIOS SATA AHCI with no problems and that will solve the problem? The Intel rapid storage technology software version is v9.5.7.1002. It is obviously old and I could update, but I wonder if the real issue is the BIOS setting.

    Thank you

    JohnD

Thank you for the additional information.

I'm not sure it tells you, but I changed these settings without having to reinstall the operating system.  I suppose it could be correct.

  • Re: Need driver XP SATA/RAID for Satellite Pro U400

    Hi all

I've searched and searched, but I can't for the life of me find suitable driver to install XP on my machine. It came pre-installed with Vista which is useless to me because of the instability, bugs, just be a poor OS. I got the new laptop for a week now and have not been able to use again, so it would really appreciate someone pointing me in the direction of SATA/RAID drivers for XP.

    Thank you!
    E.g.

    Hello

The Satellite Pro U400 needs a SATA driver, and you can find it in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager package.

This storage manager can be downloaded from the European driver Toshiba page (see the series of portable different) or you can also download it from the Intel site.

The SATA driver must be installed during XP Setup process. You must press the F6 key to include a 3rd party (SATA driver) from the external USB floppy drive.

If you don t have a floppy drive, then you could create a clean XP CD with SATA driver. NLite freeware software can be useful for these jobs

My advice is; Google a bit for nLite for more details.

    Good bye

  • Alignment of drive for PERC 5i SATA RAID 5

Forum of HI, I read many posts and document best practice VMWare on alignment of disc and I have a question.

The document and the posts I've read all assume that SAN is used for storage. My question is:

These guidelines work for storage space including 4 SATA 7200 drive RAID 5 array using PERC 5i as well?

I created my VMFS using then the fdisk command gui Lu gave 128 as a point of departure but on the comments file systems. Keeping in mind that I'm not using SAN shouldn't I always align the partition of windows NT from 64 K or should it be something else?

    Please notify.

    Thank you!

And my question is can I I align comments to 64 K victory discs or should the number to be anything?

The starting block indicates where to START data.  So it is divisible by 64K, that's fine.  It should be the default value, which is 64 k, however Windows 2008 using a slightly different boot / MBR table, which is why marketing to the address which is 1024K, but I would no Windows 2003 start to 1024, 64K will be fine.

  • Slow 3ware SATA RAID 9690

    Here's a strange.

System Specs: ESXi 4.1 with updated oem.tgz for drivers of 3ware, Biostar TA890FXE, AMD Phenom II Black 3.2 ghz, 16 GB RAM, 3ware 9690SA-4i (with battery), Intel 1000GT, boot USB Flash 4 GB disk

I have two data warehouses using the same 1 TB SATA Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB disks:
    (A) 3ware 9690 RAID-5, 4 discs, total capacity of 2.73 tb (2 to & Go 730 Lun, images of comments, primary storage)
    (B) SATA AHCI, 2 disks total capacity 1.81 to (2 x 900 ~ to ISO and random storage Lun)

When the copy of the RAID to the standard SATA drives, it is doomed fast. But SATA in RAID, the speed is ridiculously slow. It seems to take easily 10 x as much time or more when copying very large files.

I noticed when I went to copy all my files and images of comments to a data store while I reformatted with a larger block size. Then the copy to roughly 400 GB from A to B, it took less than an hour, perhaps as little as 30 minutes. New B in A, it took 6 hours when I dropped.

In addition, I have a little bit of reference tool called Parkdale who made drive simple comparative analysis in Windows and have some real numbers to go with my comments in ESXi.

    Option A with SATA RAID = 2.6 MB/s write, 73.7 MB/s reading (Win Server 2003)
    Option B with SATA AHCI = 111.1 MB/s write, 108.1 MB/s Read (Win Server 2000)

There is certainly something weird here. Any ideas on how to test, what to look for, or what could be the problem?

You may need to activate the write cache. It wouldn't be activated without the battery. Some controllers to activate the cache because soon the battery is attached and responsible, but not all.

  • Running slow even after reimage... time to replace the 5100 disc drive?

My laptop 5100 is very slow and I hear the drive access very regularly and it affect playback of the media while doing other tasks. Even after recess with the CD that accompanies it improves a lot.

I'm assuming the drive is dying, but open to suggestions. Out of curiosity he would make a difference if you had everything on one big partition or multiple?

According to Device Manager the drive is a MK6021GAS. A few questions for those who have the necessary expertise to respond to...

    (1) do I replace with the same Toshiba player?

    (2) can I replace it with a larger drive?

    (3) everyone has replaced these discs successfully?

    (4) any recommendations on where to buy?

BTW, this laptop was purchased in Australia if it makes a difference.

    Thank you very much
    Richard

    Hello

    (1) you must not buy exactly the same HARD drive, but it is always recommended to use the compatible module.
    (2) theoretically Yes. . I think 60 GB is really enough for this camera, but I think that 80 GB HARD drive is recognized correctly.
    (3) the disc replacement is very easy and you can do it alone. In the lower corner, near the battery, you will find the HARD drive cover. I'm not sure, but it is fixed with a screw. Remove carefully and you will see how the HARD drive is placed there.
    (4) Google a bit. You will find a large number of suppliers. You can also buy it in every store of PC. eBay is also an alternative.

  • Can satellite A100-847 - I replace my current HARD drive with a SATA2 HARD drive?

    Hello

I am currently using a Satellite A100-847 with a 100 GB SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive. I plan to change with a Western Digital WD2500BEKT 250 GB SATA2 16 MB 2.5 inch laptop hard drive 7200 TRM. Is it possible to replace my current HARD drive which is SATA with a one SATA2?

And if not what is my best option upgrade of the mine to a HARD fast (7200 RPM) disc?

    Hello!

Yes, you can replace the current drive with a SATA2 HARD disk. You already have a SATA interface, and this means that you can use each HDD with SATA interface.

I don't know Mr. but as far as I know the Satellite A100 cannot use the speed of SATA1. This means that the new HARD drive maybe won't work with SATA1 speed but there is no significant difference in performance.

A HARD drive with 7200 RPM is really fast, but don t forget it produces more heat and needs more electric battery. A HARD disk at 5400 RPM is perhaps fast enough for you?

    Good bye
