Satellite Pro L50 - a: how to replace the memory, HARD drive and battery

I just uploaded 2 new video from Youtube on the L50 - A. Satellite Pro

The first is a tear down showing how to replace the memory, hard drive and battery (you can also clean the fan if it detects overheating).

http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=IG0lW7t92bI

BTW why they made it so difficult to get just to the battery in this model?

WARNING - proceed at your own risk and don't forget static precautions!

Hope they help and if you have any questions let me know.

+ The message was edited: link has been removed ad channel may not +.

Thanks for these videos. It may be useful to replace the memory, but I think that the owners of the laptop should not open the case. This may void the warranty.
Be careful about this.

  • How to install the new hard drive and windows key?

    Hello

    I have a aspire v5-121-c72g32nkk.
    I have just updated to Windows 10, don't panic, but I want to upgrade my HD drive to a SSD drive.

    You can find the steps to do this?
    Windows was preinstalled, how I reinstall on another drive?
    I have no serial key or whatever it is.
    I'm a bit lost, you have an idea?

    Best,

    There are several ways to do this, anyone have product keys, since

    If you want to do a clean install:

    Windows 7-8 - 8.1 keys are embeeded on your BIOS

    Windows 10 use a generic key during the upgrade, so just skip the steps questions about a product key and the first time you connect on the web, it will authenticate to.

    You must decide:

    (1) do a clean install of your operating system to factory

    (2) make a disk - image of the system image and reload

    (3) to do a clean install of windows 10

    option 2 is the fastest at the end, as you create a copy of your HARD drive and reload it to your PC.

    you need a bootable windows 10 (USB or DVD) media and little space on external HARD drive.

  • Replaced the portable hard drive, and I can't delete the EISA partition on original disk (which I want to reuse)

    I use a laptop 17 inch set that has two slots for drives 2.5 inch/9.5 mm, but it only came with a hard drive (in the primary).  I recently bought a 160 GB SSD and installed in the main Bay, by completely removing the original hard drive.  I installed Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit on my new SSD using my OEM Vista disc (as well as all pilots, maintenance SSD utility provided by its manufacturer, etc.), and it works beautifully.

    The secondary hard drive Bay was still empty, so I put my original hard drive (conventional spinning drives) return in this Bay. It was immediately found my BIOS and Windows, so I cut and pasted all the valuable data on my SSD (it is not many).  Then I deleted the main partition, for the purpose of releasing the entire disk for stuff like the music.

    Much to my dismay, the snap disk management in the utility included in Windows Vista computer management doesn't let me delete the EISA partition on my old hard drive. When I right click on the Visual representation of the partition, the only option I get is 'Help', 'Remove' or other useful functions (who did not appear for the main partition, and I was able to delete).

    I need the EISA partition because A) is not yet on my boot drive and B) I have all my original OEM recovery disks, and they are in excellent condition.

    If someone could tell me how I could delete the EISA partition on a hard drive formerly-primary but secondary now 111GB laptop to recover the last 9 GB for use by the illustrious Mozart and Tchaikovsky, I would be very grateful.

    I expect there to be a way to do this in Windows, I don't know, that's why I post here, but if not, I am willing to find and download an ISO to burn a disk Knoppix to start Linux temporarily just to delete the EISA partition (well I would really prefer not to do it for various reasons).

    I ended up downloading a free disk partitioning softpedia.com hard tool and he was able to delete the EISA partition without problem.  I then uninstalled the free tool I had just downloaded (honestly, I don't even remember the name of the program, but it was not hard to find in the list of hard disk utilities Softpedia search), and then used the disk management snap-in in the computer management utility to format the disk, which now has my music on it.

    I started this thread when I thought I was out of options, to quickly realize that some kind of solution could be obtained by downloading something from Softpedia, which was true.

    My apologies for taking up forum, but I hope someone in a similar situation finds this useful thread.

    Thank you very much!

  • Resync after the new hard drive and battery failure - SOLVED

    I have Vista32 and Hotsync Manager 7.0.2 all works very well with my Treo 680.

    My son tungsten battery went to zero and I put it on the cradle without data now.

    Recently, I replaced my hard drive and have his registered user directory.

    When I sync, it does not recognize the user directory that I copied to My Documents/Palm OS Desktop / (username)

    When I create a new account it just creates the account and I have to manually reload everything.

    How can I easily copy all the old stuff from the tungsten to the computer?

    It was the same exact version of HotSync.

    I don't use Palm Desktop.

    I does not solve the problem but after 2 hours.

    (1) I have synced the tungsten, create a new user with empty data.

    (2) I then faked a dead battery by doing a hard reset on tungsten.

    (3) I then replaced my new data folder empty (under My Documents/Palm OS Desktop /(hotsync name) with my old data from my hard drive to backup folder.

    (4) I then did a hotsync, which now had the name of Hotsync to choose and feeling that it was a Virgin tungsten, all the old data has been reinstalled.

    (5) thanks for the help

  • How to replace a laptop HARD drive and restore the backup without a Vista startup disk?

    Hello

    I need to replace the drive HARD internal of my laptop and have a picture of it, created using the backup feature in Vista, on an external USB HDD. However, I've upgraded to Vista XP via a download online and don't have a Vista disc.

    How can I create a Vista startup disk that will give access to the backup/restore function, which allowed me to restore my backup to the new HARD disk image once I did the replacement? And is there anything else I forget?

    Thanks in advance!

    You can borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It is General info how to make a Vista startup repair disk:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    See you soon.
  • Install the operating system after replacing the corrupted hard drive Asus q500a
    The hard drive on my Asus Q500a is bad (he had checked the repairman). They told me that I could replace it (it will just keep failing until at last it dies just) but I have to re - install the operating system. The laptop comes with Windows 7 and I upgraded to 8 when it came out (I think). I don't have a recovery disk.
    How can I replace the corrupted hard drive and re-install the operating system?
    If I need to buy Windows 8, where can I find?
    Would it not easier that I left the repair shop handle it?
  • Replace the failed HARD drive in Inspiron 1545 without recovery media
    My COMPUTER illiterate brother gave me his Dell Inspiron 1545 [Amin Note: Service Tag published by policy TOU] set after he dropped it on the floor.  I used a cart of Sata USB drive to copy successfully most of his records off the coast to another PC (some were corrupt), but I do not know how to go on installing the OS, etc. on the new HARD drive, I bought (a 120 GB Samsung SSD Series 840).
    Dell Diagnostics (F12 at startup) gives me several errors of HARD drive for the Western Digital HDD (WD-WX70A8983788) 320, for example:
    Error code 2000-0146 test short DST. The reader also failed to conduct confidence test correctly eg 0F00:1348 error Code. Read Test failed - error 0F00-0232 Code Msg DISK block 37006336: IRQ has not been defined at the time.
    When you try to boot normally, Windows Vista complains that there are mistakes, tries to correct them and sometimes I can get it to boot on Windows Home screen how it freezes.
    When I have already fixed a laptop, I had access to a recovery media / DVD and a key product of Windows OS, but this Dell does seem to be none of that - just a recovery partition on a hard drive now doubtful.
    What are my options to install the new HARD drive and hand over its files on since I have no recovery media or a product key Windows OS?
    I must:
    (a) reduce the size of the partition on the dodgy HARD drive less than 120 GB and then clone the dodgy HDD on the new SSD, so try and difficulty of installing Windows using the Dell recovery tools? (He had used<120GB of="" the="" old="">
    (b) clone just the recovery Partitions, and then copy the relevant files on?
    (c) try to make a Vista DVD and somehow get the product key of Windows disable the suspicious HDD (it doesn't seem to be a Windows product key sticker on the laptop, the Toshiba & IBM unlike I had sitting next to me).
    (d) something else?
    Thanks in advance for your help.  First thing I will once I have it get up and running is to create the recovery media that he did not!
    Option one could be quite bad if the performance of the system was initially quite bad. It depends on what has been installed on the machine. I recommend a clean installation.
    Follow my Guide from reinstalling Windows / a Clean Install of Windows Vista:
    http://philipyip.WordPress.com/Dell-community-forums/
    This will guide you through the clean install using downloadable Digital River Media (Microsoft online partner). It will tell you where to download the installation files and how to do an aswell USB bootable as the rest of the installation.
    For product activation, there are instructions on the use of the activation program to backup and restore (step 2 and 11 b). I saved product activation OEM Dell Dell Windows Vista to 7 reinstallation DVD. If you run a utility finder key on the old installation, you will get a corresponding product key. It is not would be in line with the key on your COA. The guide explains system locked preinstallation and activation more in detail. An alternative to the product activation is also possible; You can use the product key on the laptops COST 25-digit which must be placed under the battery in the Inspiron 1545 to protect it from deletion. This will require automated activation of phone to a Center (11th step) Microsoft product activation so I prefer activation backup and restore program.
    I am from the United Kingdom and do not like the fact that the form of relocation brackets is for US customers only. The situation has worsened for Windows 8, Microsoft has not provided downloadable media. Please add your voice to this idea from IdeaStorm Windows 8 media IdeaStorm resettlement so that users in the United Kingdom or elsewhere outside the United States can get media to reinstall via an online application form or download link. Unfortunately IdeaStorm requires connection separate from the rest of the Dell Community.
  • Can I replace the SSD HARD drive in my sve15123cv
    Hello
    I use sve15123cv, I want to replace the SSD HARD drive. Is this possible?
    Which SSD is good?
    Hi zunnun,.
    Thank you for visiting the Sony community!
    It is possible, but we cannot guarantee that it will work without any problem. You need to consider certain things such as the specification of the HARD drive, thickness or dimension of the SSD that you plan to install first. Your Vaio SVE15123CV is a non American model. Unfortunately, we do not have full details and specifications of your machine. However, you can coordinate with the Sony support based on your location or where you bought the device.
    For further assistance about your concern, please contact the representative offices of offices/Sony Sony nearest your place of residence in the Asia-Pacific region http://www.sony-asia.com/countryselector.html?hpid=countryselector:AsiaPacific.   • Formatting the main HARD drive and do a fresh install of the OS
    Hi guys,.
    I have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro running Yosemite (10.10.2). I did not care on the data management since the day that I bought and now it's all over the place and a lot of unwanted files. I have backups time machine the main hard drive and I also backed up all important data on a separate hard drive.
    My question is, is it possible that I can erase my entire hard drive and reinstall Yosemite (10.10.2)? The last time I tried to do this, my MacBook connected to the server and installed the latest OS (I guess it was time Cougar 10.8.4).) I don't want to update the OS because my Audio Interface has no drivers for what after 10.10.2.
    I don't like on the data loss that I have multiple backups of all the files of important work, as well as backups time machine of the disk set. Thus, formatting everything is completely fine with me.
    Thank you!
    The only ways I know to reinstall 10.10.2 are:
    • You have the initial download of 10.10 after Yosemite went out and created a USB this version thumb drive Installer. If so, you can start Setup from USB, delete your Macintosh HD, install 10.10 and after 10.10 is installed, you can download and run the 10.10.2 Combo Update to bring it up to 10.10.2.
    • You have the 10.10.2 download after this version has been published and have created a USB this version thumb drive Installer. If so, you can start Setup from USB, wipe your hard drive Macintosh and install 10.10.2.
    If you can't do or any of the foregoing, all what you can do then is start Recovery HD and install the latest version of Yosemite, which is 10.10.5. Even if the HD recovery may appear 10.10.2,"limited you will always get the most recent version of Yosemite. Without either of the above, there is no way that I know how to install an earlier version of Yosemite. Maybe you could ask a local Apple Store to see if they have a solution for 10.10.2.
  • Hard drive crashed with CS5 on it. Has not been disabled before the collision. Desktopcomputer again loaded on the new hard drive and bu news updates do not work on the new computer.
    Hi, I hope I'm in the right forum! I have a laptop Aspire with Photoshop CS5 extended. The computer's hard drive crashed and so I had to get another hard drive! Obviously as the hard drive crashed, I was unable to disable CS5 extended before the crash. I have it charging on the new hard drive and in the meantime bought a desktop computer in which I loaded CS5. Updates have been working fine on the laptop. I tried to update the program on the new computer, but continue to receive error messages. I have read in any problems and think maybe computer laptop harddrive that crashed had CS5 yet on it, as I was unable to turn it off because I didn't know he was going to crash. I am only able to load CS5 on 2 computers and if it is still on the destroyed hard drive so I'm not able to turn it off and so I presume that is why I can not download the updates on my new computer. I hope someone can help me. I want to keep CS5 on both computers. Thanks in advance bunch Kara
  • Satellite L50 - B - 1 HM - how to replace the memory module?
    Hello
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L50 B - 1 HM, product number: PSKTAE 072017CE. It has 8 GB of RAM but is expandable to 16 GB.
    My question is, should I buy a 8 GB memory module? (and I would add up to 16 GB).
    Or should I buy a 16 GB memory module to completely replace the memory of 8 GB?
    Memory 8 GB Toshba module I've found is the following: P000577360
    Thanks in advance
    Kind regards
    Hello
    Googling around, I found also specification for your model of laptop and if I understand it is just your machine can be upgraded up to 16 GB for you can use 2x8GB.
    Compatible 8 GB of RAM for your machine has PA5104U-1M8G part number.
    I n t have this model of laptop, so I put t know if there is coverage of RAM placed on the lower side of your laptop. If this isn't the case, RAM could be placed under the keyboard so RAM upgrade must be performed by the Toshiba service provider. Removal of material or to open the case of the laptop on your own is the warranty.
    Be careful about this.
